Although author J.K. Rowling stated on her newly-launched official website last month that she was currently in the process of writing the Harry Potter encyclopaedia, she updated this month with a bit of a change in plans regarding the future of the comprehensive text for the series. J.K. Rowling: I have been enjoying sharing information about Harry’s world on Pottermore for free, and don’t have any firm plans to publish it in book form.
This is what Rowling said of the progress last month: Quote: What about the Harry Potter Encyclopaedia?
J.K. Rowling: For a long time I have been promising an encyclopaedia of Harry’s world, and I have started work on this now – some of it forms the new content in Pottermore. It is likely to be a time-consuming job, but when finished I shall donate all royalties to charity.
We will have all updates regarding when and if the Harry Potter encyclopaedia will be released in book form. | |

As rich as she is, she should hire someone to do it. Like the SS staff LOL all of whom would likely do it for free ... I'd do it for five minutes with Jo so I could ask her all kinds of questions about HP and her new book and Rupert ... *squeeeeeeeee* but you know ... that's just a suggestion. 
My first question would be, "Why is Ron so cool?" and "What's Rupert's cell phone?"

I like the idea of having this just be in web form. While the extra information is neat, I don't think it's worth the cost of publication. I'm sure fans will buy anything Harry Potter related really fast, but it's not the same as buying and reading a full story. It'd be great to have it all on Pottermore, if that site ever gets off the ground.
