| | | J.K.R. says no to HP e-books
Lawyers for J.K. Rowling state that the HP author does not want Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. nor any of the HP series, available online in book format. This is mainly due to theft concerns ( Half-Blood Prince was posted online by pirates within half a day of its release), but also because Rowling prefers printed books. Quote:
Rowling has publicly stated her partiality for writing and reading works on paper rather than on-screen. In interviews, Rowling repeatedly confirms that she wrote the entire Harry Potter series longhand, and that she prefers her readers to "experience the books on paper."

Jo made a right choice. I'd hate it if my books were stolen. Anyway, it's better to experience the books on paper!
EDIT: 1st to post!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Ottery St. Catchpole Gryffindor Third Year | Jo, will you be my Valentine? *Hopes she'll let me read DH before y'all* LOL Paris & Kellybear r luv :Read Otty 's fics:Gone With the Wind:I♥Rupert Wow talk about being a luddite That's not a bad word go look it up.
But seriously ... I'm so with her, why anyone would want to read anything on-line is beyond me but ... really, shouldn't that be the reader's choice? Dictatorial much. *cedes the floor to the counter arguments* What if she'd never wanted the books translated from English? That's all I'm sayin' I respect an author's rights but ... I'm only on her side because I hate the capitalist swine who invented e-books.

I agree, she made the right decision.
I'd much rather buy the books that read them online, plus if you buy the books they're there for keeps and they will be there to remind us of Harry Potter.
I'd probably get a headache from reading too much on the computer, anyway.

I don't feel as though there is anything wrong with E-books actually, as long as they are properly paid for, but she is kidding herself if she thinks that by avoiding e-books she will avoid people illegally downloading it. That's just the way some people are.
I could never read HP as an ebook though. There is something about holding it in your hands and turning the pages quicker and quicker to find out what will happen that you just can't pass up.

Thank you, Jo! Thank you so much. Glad to know she knows her readers still value the good ol' pen and paper format.

I think that that is a good thig. A lot of people would probably steal her work. But I was looking forward to being able to read online cuz I'm broke and can't buy the books, but have to rent from the libary and return them after 9 weeks with renewing.

| Feathery Thingywhatsit | BookSnake I have to agree. There is something peaceful about reading a book, versus a computer, which gives off it's own light. And if I read to long on the computer, I get a headache.
