As it is past midnight in the UK, J.K. Rowling's official website has updated with the fact that today, Tuesday June 28th is Dobby the house-elf's birthday.

Dobby was originally the enslaved house-elf of the Malfoys, up until Harry Potter tricked Lucius Malfoy into freeing him at the end of Chamber of Secrets. From there, Dobby went on a search to find a paid job, and eventually got one in the kitchens of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding, and would sometimes visit and assist Harry. Dobby was killed by accident when Bellatrix Lestrange threw a knife in Harry's general direction in Malfoy Manor during Deathly Hallows, and was buried by Harry and his friends outside Shell Cottage.

To mark the occasion and memorial, EA released a promotional image of Dobby from the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 video game. That can be seen here.
