Business Wire reports that nearly 5 million copies of the ' Goblet of Fire' DVD were sold in the US on the first day of release. Quote:
"We're extremely pleased with the out-of-the-gate success of the DVD release of 'Goblet of Fire'," said Ron Sanders, President, Warner Home Video. "We knew fans really connected with this installment in the Harry Potter series, and that continued loyalty to the franchise has carried over to these phenomenal DVD sales figures."

I wonder if Warner means the sales of the single-disc edition or the 2-disc Special Edition? It's probably the combined sales of both.
Everyone who does not have their copy yet, the 2-disc set is definitely the DVD you should get. This is probably the most comprehensive Potter DVD, and the documentaries and featurettes are fairly lengthy and informative. (Note that the teaser trailer for GOF is included on the 2-disc SE and not the theatrical trailer released September 2005.)
