Post Exclusive: SnitchSeeker interviews Chris Rankin; talks Percy Weasley, Deathly Hallows

SnitchSeeker spoke to actor Chris Rankin, who plays Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter series, earlier today. Chris opened up about how much Deathly Hallows filming he has completed - he noted that he has not filmed Fred's death yet, and that he has eight weeks still in which to shoot the final sequences.

Chris talked in depth about playing various aspects of Percy throughout the series, from pompous prefect to family traitor, and back to redemption (and which he enjoyed portraying the most); and hanging out with fellow Weasley co-stars Julie Walters, Mark Williams, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, and James and Oliver Phelps. He praised the twins for their growth as actors, voiced how impressed he was at how much Bonnie has changed from a small child to a young woman, and exclaimed that Mark and Julie kept the atmosphere cheery during long and serious days on the final Harry Potter films. As for actors he got to work alongside for the first time, Chris talked about his intimidation and awe at working face-to-face with Ralph Fiennes, who plays Lord Voldemort in the series.

Also discussed were which scenes Chris most enjoyed acting in throughout the series, which included a cut sequence with Peeves in Sorcerer's Stone; how directors Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, and David Yates influenced him as an actor and burgeoning director and producer; and his future in acting and filmmaking. Chris ended the interview by bestowing some pearls of wisdom to young and aspiring thespians who want to break into the acting world.

The full interview - over 20 minutes long - can be viewed below (please forgive my voice as I'm suffering with a bout of the flu).

I thought he was a quietly confidant actor. He definately played his part well, albeit a minor one. Really excited about Part 1 of DH coming out in November but I feel it's tinged with a bit of sadness seeing as we are coming so close to the end :-(

I wish the movies would have showed more of the Percy being a traitor part.
