The News of the World has today reported that Emma Watson has refused to sign a contract for the next film, Half-Blood Prince.
This contradicts yesterday's report from The Sun which said "sources" at WB said she'd signed up for both the sixth film and Deathly Hallows. Quote:
Daniel Radcliffe is already signed up to star as the quidditch-playing wizard and Rupert Grint will again play Harry's best pal Ron Weasley.
He told us: "Emma doesn't want to do it any more. She's tired of being known as ‘that girl from Harry Potter'."
Rupert added: "Daniel and I are distant from her now. We don't text or talk to her when we are not filming."
They say WB confirmed that Emma hasn't signed up for more movies.
Neither sources are particularly reliable, and the reports are conflicting, so we won't know anything for sure until WB make an official announcement. UPDATE: CBBC Newsround have spoken to WB and they have assured fans that Emma Watson is NOT leaving the Harry Potter franchise. In fact, she has gone on record, in interviews for Order of the Pheonix, saying she WILL do the last 2 films. Quote:
"We're extremely confident that Emma will be back for films six and seven."
Emma, unlike Dan and Rupert, hasn't signed a contract yet, hence all the speculation, but that is because the details of it are still being worked out.  | |

I dunno, every last news item I've read over the past hour from google implicitly states she's NOT doing it, because of the stalker incident mainly. One of them quoted Rupert as saying she's grown distant, and he & Dan don't talk to her during or after filming. Granted, who knows how accurate those rags are. Having said that, if she wants to stay in the acting field, it would be pretty much committing career suicide to not sign on for the final two. But Emma has ALWAYS been the holdout among the trio, from what I've heard.

It's good to know that nothing has been finalized yet with her possibly not acting in the next few films. We must remember to be careful when reading reports, especially when they're not confirmed.
I do hope Emma continues with HP though. She's really a wonderful Hermione, and I have to say that I would terribly miss her if she was replaced in the last few films. We all love you, Emma!  | |

I am so glad that that was just a rumor and wasn't true. Because if Emma didn't come back, than the movies just wouldn't be the same with a different person playing her, because you are just so used to seeing Emma in the HP movies and not another girl, and it would be really weird seeing a Harry Potter movie without Emma in it with Dan and Rupert.
