I thought it was straight out a FanFic I thought the names Albus, James and Lily were ... overdone ... I mean EVERY FF u read that ends up in Ginny&Harry havin kids are named Lily and James ... it was sweet, however, i cant argue that XD it was the perfect ending for a teenage fantasizing girl

I knew Snape wasn't rotten! Wah Although it's weird how Harry's other kids have ordinary, short names but Albus has both Albus and Severus tagging along..
I think the epilogue looks really like it's been written in a tearing hurry.. I would have wanted to see a more complete picture - of George, and the other Weasleys at the very least.
Also, it's only Harry's and Ginny's kids (and Ted Lupin) who're named for someone.. everyone else's got unconnected names - it sounded awkward in there..
All in all, I loved the book but not the epilogue, nor that abrupt jump to 19 years later. Still, it leaves a lot open to the imagination now!

I too, felt it was a little too much like fanfiction. Of the whole book with all the deaths and blood and foul language, the epilogue was the only part that felt to me like it was written for children.
I suppose i just wasn't expecting such a happy ending? I dunno. Ron and Hermione should have named their son Fred, IMO.

'Nuff said. It was waaaaaay too played out. Not even FF gets that cheesy. Meeeh, not to my liking, at all.

It was a bit too fairy-tale how all the teenage love-doves survived, but hey
Albus and Teddy rock.

I didn't think the epilogue was necessary. In fact, I could have done without it. I still needed something to imagine and wonder about, and now that is gone. In this respect, I am disappointed with JKR. I didn't want, or expect a gushy happy ending, and I feel the epilogue was overkill.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Casper Scouten Fourth Year | Eh. Fun to read, but weird. Didn't like him being named Albus. Blech to that. And kept getting the kids messed up. Seemed too perfect, not believable. But I'm so glad there was an epilogue. Just wish it was different. |

i agree that it was sort of... cliche, but i did enjoy it nonetheless. i do wish that a bit more detail had been added about other characters, as well as the process of reconstructing magical society. and it would have been nice to hear about the dursleys, after harry's and dudley's 'moment' in the beginning of the book. i loved the bit about draco and his oddly-named son! it made me glad to see draco 'give a curt nod', as it was at least a hint of respect. ron's comments to his daughter were halarious! anyway, overall, i deeply enjoyed the book, and i am glad it ended so well. i knew it would.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Casper Scouten Fourth Year | Yeah, great point! I kept wanting the Dursleys to resurface, but once it gotton closer to the end I forgot about them until you just mentioned it. I mean, we don't even know if they survived!
I think it was cute... just kind of a tad overkill. But that's OK. I couldn't ask JKR for anything more than she's given us. Except for more ahmazing books to become obsessed with. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jasmine Aurora Lumino Fifth Year | I had previously expressed my feelings for the Epilogue in another thread and since I am currently too lazy to type it again, I shall hence forth demostrate my copy and paste capablities......
Which brings us to the Epilogue..... *stops to make an appointment to the dentist for all the cavities received from reading said Epilogue* I am already biased concerning epilogue's (detests them ), but, even if I wasn't I still would hate this one. I found it to be completely superfluous and quite annoying. I much prefer imagining where the character's lives end up rather than having it handed to me on a silver platter. Plus, it was much to "sweet" for my taste. I also felt a bit offended that JKR seemed to think that after 7 years or so of investing one's life in her books that we would not be able to figure out how the character's lives might end up. Alas, but again I am refering back to my intent dislike for Epilogues as I am sure that JKR must have felt the need to write the epilogue for her own closure as well as those of some of her fans.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Maximus O. Vindictus III First Year | No Touchy! ♥ demented_teacher The Epilogue was cute, but for me it reinforced the way a few chapters in PS/SS were written (Harry reiminiscing on learning he was a wizard). It would have been nice to have more details on the other characters/families - ie. jobs, children, etc.

I for one didn't like the epilogue. I feel like it didnt a bit more, I just felt empty with the ending. Although it was nice, I just felt like J.K. could of added something more to put the ending over the top

It was good but i still think harry and hermione should of ended up togather. They also should of told us want happen to luna.I liked draco noticing harry at the train station. But it was a good ending like if she wanted to go back and write she could.

| Here or not I really didn't like the epilogue. It was absolutely not what I expected - I'd imagined it'd to be more list-like and informative. This was just too neaseausly sweet and fanfiction-like. No, the epilogue is definitely my least favourite part in the whole series. |

| ᛇ It's a pity that the book has to end like this.
I hated it.
...but if it keeps us for an eight book written in a style like this...than I appreciate it.

I liked the Epilogue (why 19 years though?) I think it was too short, there definitely should have been more about other characters. I liked the inclusion of Albus Severus, especially when Harry tells him about who his is named after.
I Really think JKR should have written more though, just a few sentences here and there for some closure. Like what happened to Umbridge and Lucius Malfoy? When Ron (or is it Harry?) says "look who it is" (referring to Draco) I would have liked one of them say something like "his father's up for parole next month and Umbridge the month after" - something as simple as that. I really wanted to know what happened to these evil characters that seem to squirm their way out of things.
So many questions and not enough answers...

I wish it was a bit longer and more detailed, like what they had done since. Jobs and stuff as well, and more of the characters. |

I loved the epilogue, but I reckon it was too cliche and perfect. I really wasn't expecting something like that from J.K. Although it did tie up things nicely, I reckon it should've been something...well, less cliche.
I did cry when I read the last sentence though. I can't believe that Harry Potter's finally over.

I felt that the epilogue was perfect. It was JUST what JKR wanted and needed to do.
Firstly, the reason it felt so fan-fiction-y was because that was what FF writers have been speculating all along. Not because it was easy or sappy, but because those of us who shipped that way felt that was the probable outcome (Some of us don't write these things just to see what might come of it but weave our theories into the story). After all, Jo always said, if you understand the characters and understand the Great Stories, you KNOW how this is going to turn out.
Secondly, there can be no speculation about the future of these characters. Harry married Ginny and Ron married Hermione and they all lived happily ever after, the end. No room for future uprisings in those 19 years; of stray Death Eaters exacting their revenge. It's done, and it was GOOD, and she didn't HAVE to kill Harry, even though she easily could have and still made it work out.
Thirdly, Jo is happy with this book (including the epilogue). All through it, it felt comfortable reading it (like favorite slippers), and I never fretted the questions I had as I went along, I was confident that she'd make it all right by the end and she did. That she is satisfied with this is enough for me. I couldn't be happier with this book.
