Default Deaths in Deathly Hallows

It was predicted for ages who would die in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Well, now, we know what the real truth is! This is the thread where you can talk about all of those favorite morbid topics: who died, how they died, what you liked about it, and what you hated about it. Just ... the deaths in general. Great, isn't it?

Make sure you check out the forum rules before posting in here!

I thought I'd make it a little easier for everyone:

Charity Burbage
Hedwig
Alastor "Mad-eye" Moody
Ted Tonks
Rufus Scrimgeour
Bathilda Bagshot
Peter "Wormtail" Pettigrew
Dobby the House Elf
Crabbe
Colin Creevey
Fred Weasley
Fenrir Greyback
Remus Lupin
Nymphadora Tonks
Severus Snape
Harry Potter - well kind of
Nagini
Bellatrix Lestrange
Tom Marvolo "Voldemort" Riddle

♥ Doctor Sarah ♥ Rupert's Teddy Bear

For me, Snape's death made me cry the most.
Specially the chap : The Prince's Tale.
I'd predicted Snape's death, but when it actually happened, and the way Voldemort did it specially with Nagini *urghh* ...it was awful.

And then , Dobby's death....... that made me cry too.
Why, why did Dobby have to die too?
And that too by Bellatrix plunging the sword into the poor creature *cries*
How Harry made his grave........OMG........It was so tearful.

And I didnt want a Weasley twin to die...........

I'd have hated if just one of Tonks/Lupin died , but that made me cry toooo, *sniffs* all of the deaths........ even Colin Creevy's.

I can't believe Fred died!! And, what was worse, I didn't feel the author really even cared! I mean, she went on all about Dobby's funeral (which had me in tears) but didn't really say much after Fred..... I was devastated, I love the twins!

After reading the first few chapters, I was thinking, "At this rate, we're going to have a death nearly every chapter." Thankfully, not everyone got killed off.

I'm so relieved Draco didn't die (not a good situation for fan fiction ideas).

I'm actually surprised not many of the main characters died. I thought that Neville would die, and I was almost sure Mrs. Weasley was going to die at the hand of Bellatrix when I read it.

I was distraught when Dobby died.

My sister and I freaked when Remus and Tonks died. I couldn't believe it. I was in total shock.

And Fred. *sobs* He was my favorite twin.

Russian Dancing Snake-Twin | Jam Pony Rider | Has Snuffed It!

Fred, Tonks, Lupin, Hedwig, and Dobby. Hedwig's made me tear, I didn't want to believe it, the others I was in shock, and it took until Molly was clinging sobbing into Fred's dead chest for it to really set in, and I started crying, and I had to put the book down because I couldn't see thru the tears and didn't want to get my book we. When Harry was burying poor little Dobby I started crying again.

The death's of Tonks and Lupin didn't set in for a while, but when it did I started crying hard, the last Marauder, the parents of poor little Teddy, dead, leaving their few month old child an orphan.

Now while I'm glad Voldy is dead, and that horrible snake, I feel a little sad that Snape died, and he had been good the hole time... Bellatrix, ooh thank gahd she is dead, after killing Sirius I am SO GLAD she got what was coming to her, and by Molly, made it so much better.

RIP Moody, I shall miss you, and what Umbridge did to that eye made me sick, I wanted her to die too.

But really I feel worse for Andromeda Tonks, for she lost her husband, daughter, son-in-law, all at once.

I cried most when Dobby and Fred died. I mean, Fred. Why him? I was just shocked. What made me cry more is Percy's reaction. It was just too much. *sobs*

Dobby. He died a hero. It was touching that Harry dug the grave for him. It was just....

Snape. It was a waste for him to die that way.

Remus and Tonks. It was sad. I wished they survived.

Toothpick Disappearer * Likes her 'figgies' * Mmm... Bagels!

I was upset when each of them died. The ones that hit me the most would have been hedwig, tonks and Lupin though. I had a feeling that Lupin would die, that feeling kind of strengthened after I found out wormtail would die. I didn't really think that only one of the mauraders would live.

Is it just me or did all of the death's seemed really rushed. This book was lengthy but it seemed in previous books that the death's had been dragged out for quite a while. It may just be me but I believe so.

I was deeply saddened by the deaths but some of them needed to happen, everyone did not want them to happen, but JK needed it to in order to bring her story to life.

Fred and Dobby deeply affected me and also the newlyweds, very very sad.

And shcokingly though, Colin Creevy! Did not see that one coming!

I personally thought that maybe Ginny or Harry would die... or Ron or Hermione or both or something. But I was really sad (Not sure why) when Hedwig died... just because that was Harry's first and true friend... and also when Dobby died trying to save Harry and all of them. *tear* But the one that killed me was Fred... it's so sad to have one twin, but not the other.

Charity, I could care less, I knew the book would start with a death. I cried when Hedwig died. Mad-Eye, Scrimgeour and Wormtail, I wasn't too keen on to begin with, so ehh...

Dobby was like a kick in the teeth... I threw the book on the floor and cursed JK's name.

Fred I was upset about, but I was still crying over Dobby, so... Snape, I knew he'd die... oh well... Tonks & Lupin. To leave the baby parentless... but I knew when Tonks said that her mother would take care of the baby that they were going to die... Colin? She's a sadist! Come on!!! He's 2 years younger than Harry!!

And Voldemort killing himself was a cop out on Rowling's part. So that Harry wouldn't commit murder, justified or not...

Ok... I've had my say.

Tom: did I mention hott?

I cried in all of the deaths. Well not the bad people.

Snape made me cry the most. Especially after I read the chapie the princes tale. it was so sad to read that, and to know that he was good all along. And then his murder was absolutely horrible. Stupid Nagini. I am glad that she died.

Dobby was quite sad because he really didn't know what had happened and how it happened. All of a sudden the apparated and he had a knife sticking out of him. BooHoo

I didn't want a Weasley to die at all. If she was going to have one die I wish she would of picked Percy. So that he came back to his family and then he died. It would have been better than Fred.

Lupin and Tonks were both sad, though i knew something was going to happen with them. Once Lupin made Harry Teddys godfather, I knew there was going to be something drastic there.

Wormtail was also sad, though, it wasn't as sad as the others, he was acutally going to try and help Harry. Just like dumbledore said.

The other deaths like Hedwig and moody were also very sad. Poor Hedwig!!

I think that's what made me howl. Plus the fact that they had a son, and Remus' reaction when Teddy was born. *wails*

I agree 100% I cried for about an hour after he saw them dead, Tonks was my favourite charater. I mean they just had a son whom would grow up without parents, now. Also, when Fred was killed I know it must have hurt to have a twin die I know I would simply fall apart if my twin sister died.

Well, the deaths made us appreciate the fight scene more.

But she could've spared Colin....

Terrified of my Tag Rawr!!!

Rufus Scrimgeour - I believe my initial reaction was something like: He deserves it.

Peter "Wormtail" Pettigrew
At long last...

Hedwig
Dobby the House Elf
These two deaths made me jump a little, although I knew already, of Hedwig's death... It was not powerful to me though. More of a hint of what's about to happen.

Crabbe
Serves him right!

Alastor "Mad-eye" Moddy
Ted Tonks
Colin Creevey
Fred Weasley
Remus Lupin
Nymphadora Tonks
You know, in the end, I expected shocking deaths... And that alone made them less shocking.

Severus Snape
I love you Severus, I knew you were good, deep down, I knew you were going to die... Unfortunately, I could not experience his death with much emotion because I had previously been spoiled... But still, I did not know for sure whether he was good or evil. And I'm still amazed with the care Rowling must've put in this storyline, the fact that whether he was good or not, was not known until the very moment she told us, is simply bewildering!

Harry Potter - well kind of
I was shocked when the memories of Snape first reveiled that he had to die, but then I accepted it. I never believed he would die, never wanted him to, but then, the book seemed perfect... It was a wonderfully intricate story, and I believe the story would have been better off with Harry dying. If I would have Rowling change one thing, it would be this, because she made at least some readers at piece with Harry's death, and yet, the battle could still be won, and he would be peaceful with his mother and father at last. And all those whom he loved, Hermione, Ron would one day reach him after all, and as time is not a measure in the afterlife, according to the story, it would have not mattered when. Harry's death would've been perfect. Then she turned around, and let him live, which I think was a big mistake.

Nagini
I think it's wonderful that Neville was the one who killed him, Neville was destined to be important in this book.

Bellatrix Lestrange
At last, but at the hands of Molly Weasley? I would have expected it to be Neville instead.

Tom Marvolo "Voldemort" Riddle
He deserved it as well, but it was expected of course, he had to die.

Default In chronological order...or the best I can do...
Fan Fic Queen

Professor Charity Burbage:
Cause of Death: Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort killed her with the Killing Curse.
Place of Death: Malfoy Manor
Obviously, no one could have foreseen or predicted this death since she was mentioned maybe once in PoA by Hermione. However, if someone were to ask me prior to the release of the last book whether the Muggle Studies teacher were a target, I probably would have said "yes" simply because any Muggle-lover/tolerator is at risk, aren't they? I think the saddest thing about her death was that Snape couldn't do anything to help her...even with her begging.
Rest in Peace, Professor.

Hedwig the Owl:
Cause of Death: A stray Killing Curse (possibly cast by the Imperiused Stan Shunpike) hit her in her cage.
Place of Death: In the sky just beyond Number 4 Privet Drive
I found this death very meaningful, to be honest. Hedwig was the one living thing that connected him to his world while at the Dursleys. Through the isolation and lack of contact over the years, Harry could always count on Hedwig. Plus, she was the only living being at Privet Drive that didn't flinch when Harry entered the room. I would say that Hedwig was Harry's real first best friend. With that knowledge, how could I not cry for her and for Harry?
Rest in Peace, Hedwig, our feathered friend.

Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody:
Cause of Death: Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort hit him square in the head with a Killing Curse.
Place of Death: In the sky beyond Number 4 Privet Drive
I'm going to be honest. I did not see this death coming at all. Like Hermione said, he was so tough. It seemed almost laughable that this iron-clad, unbeatable wizard could be...well, beatable. I was numb, actually, after hearing that Moody had died, so I couldn't cry. It wasn't until the very end of that chapter that I succumbed to tears. He was one hell of a guy, though. I can still hear his bark in my mind: Constant Vigilance!
Rest in Peace, Moody, the "Fallen Warrior."

Rufus Scrimgeour, Minister of Magic:
Cause of Death: Most likely by a Killing Curse after being tortured by the Cruciatus Curse by Death Eaters.
Place of Death: Exact Location Unknown. Speculation lies within the Ministry of Magic as it fell to Lord Voldemort.
I wasn't too surprised that he died...especially after we found out that Voldemort was bringing down the Ministry in the first chapter. However, I didn't predict it before the book. (I was so preoccupied with other characters to consider him.) And even though I thought he was a bit of a prat, I felt sorry that he died because, despite all the bad relations with Harry, he died defending and fighting for Harry. I didn't cry when I heard he died, but I certainly felt a little bad.
Rest in Peace, Minister.

Bathilda Bagshot:
Cause of Death and Place of Death is Unknown for sure. Died months before she was officially discovered. Location most likely her home in Godric's Hollow.
Now, I don't think any of us had a clue she would even be important ever, so I can't pretend to foresee her death. I was so surprised, SHOCKED, really, that Nagini could possess her like that. It was so clever of Jo to have her only speak in Harry's presence because Nagini, being a snake, could only speak Parseltongue, but Harry couldn't tell the difference at the time. SO creative, and SO creepy. I didn't have too many feelings towards her to really care that she died. I was too preoccupied with the snake coming out of her neck!
Rest in Peace, nonetheless, Miss...Mrs...Bagshot.

The Gregorovich Family:
Cause of Deaths: Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort killed them all with a Killing Curse.
Place of Deaths: Most likely in the Gregorovich home in Eastern Europe
A pointless and needless murder. Even though we put have no connection with Gregorovich or his family, I found these deaths to be particularly sad because Voldemort spared Ollivander's life where he didn't with Gregorovich, AND he slaughtered the family, who was of no importance in the plan. It was a waste, and it made you hate Voldemort that much more.
Rest in Peace.

Gornuk the Goblin:
Cause and Place of Death Unknown.
*shrug* I don't like goblins much. It was a shame, but I didn't shed any tears.
RIP

Ted Tonks:
Cause and Place of Death Unknown.
My heart just went out to Tonks. Yes, I realize it's fiction, but another father killed! It's such a blow. I got teary-eyed to find he had been murdered...all because of blood. After rereading the book, I thought instantly of Mrs. Tonks and how she was widowed and without her own child. I wept for Ted Tonks harder the second time...for his poor, poor wife.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Tonks.

Dirk Cresswell:
Cause and Place of Death Unknown.
Another unknown character. He seemed like a good guy, and it made me so angry that the only crime he committed was being Muggleborn. His death and the deaths of so many like him is wrong. Another death that angered me.
Rest in Peace.

The Gaddley Family (5):
Cause of Death: Death Eaters performed the Killing Curse on them. This Muggle slaughter is said to be nothing more than a recreational sport.
Place of Death: In their home somewhere in Britain.
I think that this family represents all Muggles killed during this war..whether for recreational sport or other. I am an emotional person. I am emotionally fixed and dedicated to this work. Therefore, I am not ashamed to admit that thinking about the useless slaughter of Muggles gets me genuinely angry and weepy. (It reminds me, painfully, of the useless genocide going on in Africa.) Like Kingsley so AMAZINGLY put it:
Quote:
Originally Posted by p. 440 American Edition

REST IN PEACE TO ALL MUGGLES AND MUGGLEBORNS!

Peter Pettigrew aka Wormtail:
Cause of Death: Wormtail's silver, steel-like hand, made by his master, turned on him, and slowly but surely (and quite unintentionally) he choked himself to death.
Place of Death: Cellar of Malfoy Manor
I predicted this death back in Goblet of Fire. Wormtail, not only having to pay for what he did to Lily and James (AND RON!), he had a life debt to Harry for saving his life back in Prisoner of Azkaban. I was actually surprised at how it happened...he ended up killing himself. But that, somehow, seems fitting that he should fulfill his debt unwillingly and with death. He was a coward and would rather kill himself (even if he did that unintentionally) than stand up against Voldemort. In the end, we never found out why he was chosen for Gryffindor. But his Animagus said it all: He was a rat.
Rot in Hades, Traitor.

Dobby the House-Elf:
Cause of Death: Stuck in the ribs with Bellatrix Lestrange's silver dagger/knife and stabbed to death.
Place of Death: On the vast grounds of Shell Cottage
This death was possibly the single saddest thing in the book. I could not stop crying for a really, really long time. I was, to put it simply, heartbroken. I did not see this coming at all. I think what made it more tragic was that Dobby had saved the others and finally succeeded in successfully saving Harry's life (which he tried, unsuccessfully, to do numerous times in Chamber of Secrets), and he dies. But not just that. He didn't die painless and quick like he would have with a Killing Curse. No, that little brave being had to suffer an agonizing death by being stabbed in the chest with a silver, hard, cold dagger. To make it worse, his last words were Harry's full name. At the same time, however, it was one of the most beautiful things JKR's ever written, and for that, it made me sob and sob harder and harder. Poor Dobby.
Rest in Peace, Dobby, the Free House-Elf. *sob*

Gellert Grindelwald:
Cause of Death: Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort killed him with a Killing Curse.
Place of Death: A cell in Nurmengard Prison
Humph. Whatever. Didn't like him anyway.

Vincent Crabbe:
Cause of Death: Stranded, Crabbe got in the way of the fatal Fiendfyre.
Place of Death: The Room of Hidden Things.
Despite the fact that I hate Crabbe (and Goyle and Draco), I thought this was a horrific way to die. I felt bad for about a millisecond, but then I remembered what he wanted to do, so...I'm over it. The only thing that is remotely sad about his death is that he was young.

Fred Weasley:
Cause of Death: An explosion blew up the corridor, caused by Acromantulas, and, incidentally, Fred Weasley as well.
Place of Death: In the corridors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
I. Am. Scarred. For. Life.
I knew a Weasley would die in this book. I knew it. Mrs. Weasley basically jinxed it back in Order of the Phoenix when she said that it would be a "miracle" if they all came out of the war alive. But I thought she was talking about ARTHUR! NOT FRED! I thought that Arthur, being another father figure in Harry's life, would be the most likely to be killed. It does fit the pattern. And I was half right since JKR said that she had planned to kill Mr. Weasley back in Order of the Phoenix but saved him instead. (Molly really couldn't die since it's only fitting that LILY be the ONLY MOTHERLY figure in Harry's life to die for Harry...and protect him.)
...BUT FRED? I thought I was going to die when George lost his ear and Fred was "speechless for the first time in his life." I'm a twin. I know what that connection is like between twins. It's so different from your other siblings. Certainly, you love your other siblings, but there's something deeper and more intimate about being a twin. I thought the worst had come for the twins with George's ear. BOY WAS I WRONG!
I was shaking with tears. I was rocking back and forth, tears blurring my vision. I was so depressed that she would kill Fred. One of the most tragic and saddest sentences she's ever wrote:
Quote:
Originally Posted by p. 637 American Edition

Just stick a dagger in my heart, why don't you?! I think this achieved one of the biggest upsets for me. Bravo to Jo for keeping us on our toes, but I'm going to need serious therapy after that.
Rest in Peace, Fred Weasley. We love you. *sob*

Lavender Brown (?):
Cause of Death (If it occurred): p. 646 American Edition:
Quote:
Two bodies fell from the balcony overhead as they reached the ground, and a gray blur that Harry took for an animal sped four-legged across the hall to sink its teeth into one of the fallen.
"NO!" shrieked Hermione, and with a deafening blast from her wand, Fenrir Greyback was thrown backward from the feebly stirring body of Lavender Brown.

Place of Death (If it occurred): In the corridor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Now, I'm not sure whether it is implied that after both the fall and impact and stray spells shooting all over the place she died. I think we may just have another person to add to the list. And if she is dead, no matter how annoying she was in previous books (particularly in Half-Blood Prince, I think the death of any young student, who is willing to come back and fight, is extremely sad. FINALLY, we see why Lavender Brown was Sorted into Gryffindor.
If, indeed, you are dead, Rest in Peace, Lavender Brown.

Remus John Lupin:
Cause of Death: Unknown, but speculation is that it was due to a Killing Curse cast by a Death Eater.
Place of Death: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. (Exact location within the building unknown)
I expected and predicted this death. I thought it was so obvious from previous books. I mean, like with Wormtail, I just knew that by the end of the series, all Four Marauders would be dead. (I think that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are the new Marauders in their own right...but perfected, in a way, from the formers.)
Plus, he was the next father figure in line for Harry. James (father), then Sirius (godfather), Dumbledore (grandfather/hero)...then Remus. Arthur would be after Lupin ONLY because Arthur has his own kids, and Remus, at the time, did not.
And though I knew it was coming, this moment seemed to seal the deal:

That was it. I knew he was a goner. It seemed too...well, anyway. I knew he would die.
I am disappointed that we don't know how he died or who killed him, but I was sad, nonetheless, to see him go. He was a favorite of mine, especially in Prisoner of Azkaban. He was a good man despite his werewolf affliction and his temporary lack of sense and tact at Grimmauld Place. He was a good man. I found it fitting, actually, that when I reread the book, I looked out the window through more tears than the first time when Harry first saw his body...and there was the moon...bright and beautiful.
Rest in Peace, Remus J. Lupin, new father.

Nymphadora Tonks Lupin:
Cause of Death: Unknown, but speculation is that it was due to a Killing Curse cast by a Death Eater.
Place of Death: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. (Exact location within the building unknown)
I actually cried harder about Tonks than for Remus. Probably because I was expecting Lupin to die, but more than that...Tonks's death was so final...and the end of a family. It was Harry's life all over again. Teddy Remus Lupin, like Harry, would never know his parents. Once again, Voldemort broke up another family who had not even really begun. It was so sad, and Tonks had always been one of the characters you went to to find some relief or encouragement. Alas, the vibrant pink hair, the "Wotcher, Harry"s, and the reassuring smile was taken from readers and from her only baby too quickly.
Rest in Peace, Nymphadora Tonks Lupin, new mother.

Severus Snape, Potions Master:
Cause of Death: Lord Voldemort's pet/Horcrux snake, Nagini, gave him a fatal bite in the neck.
Place of Death: The Shrieking Shack
I knew Snape was good. I knew he and Dumbledore planned Dumbledore's death. I knew he was in love with Lily Evans Potter. And, consequently, I knew that he would die...that Voldemort, himself, would order it.
I am really disappointed that Snape never told Voldemort himself that he was, essentially, "Dumbledore's Man" just as Harry is, or that Voldemort wasn't the one to kill him. It seemed almost not worth it if he wasn't going to be important enough to be killed by Voldemort. Although, this could be a glimpse into Voldemort. After all, he did say "I regret it," which may have led Harry to give him the window of opportunity to mourn and feel remorse.
In the end, after confirming Snape's true colors as well as Dumbledore's, I think I find that I admire Snape possibly more than Dumbledore now. I won't go so far as to say that I like Snape...indeed, I still think he's a jerky, unfair, nasty, greasy git..., but I have more respect for him.
One of the best moments...and, indeed, the saddest:

It was the sweetest that the last things Snape wanted to see before he died were Lily Evans Potter's emerald eyes. I absolutely adored this twist in the importance of having Lily's eyes. It was a constant reminder to keep protecting Harry...despite how much he may look like James.
Because of the anticlimactic way, almost, of his death, I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed my heart out for Snape...AFTER The Prince's Tale chapter. Once you knew why he wanted Harry to look at him...and everything that he had kept hidden from Harry and Voldemort...my heart broke.
I will always dislike Snape. He will always be one of my least favorite characters. But, nothing can take away the fact that he did have a heart. He was loved in return, even if it wasn't romantic love. For a while, Lily Evans was the only true friend Snape ever had that liked him for the heart he had...before it turned to stone.
For all of this, Snape is an unsung hero...and no one would ever know the truth while he lived.
Rest in Peace, Severus Snape, indeed, the bravest man we ever knew.

Colin Creevey:
Cause of Death: Unknown, but speculation is that it was due to a Killing Curse cast by a Death Eater.
Place of Death: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. (Exact location within the building unknown)
I didn't feel much initially about this death until I thought more about it later. It was definitley a delayed reaction for me. Think about it. Colin Creevey has always been Harry's biggest fan...and he made the ultimate sacrifice for his hero. I found that to be so sweetly naive and stupid, and it made it that more depressing to see such a young kid die. It's funny. Colin would have been 16, but I can't think of him any other way than as an 11 year old kid with a camera and a smile stuck to his face.
Rest in Peace, Colin Creevey.

Harry James Potter...sort of:
Cause of Semi-Death: Tom Marvolo Riddle hit a willing Harry with the Killing Curse with the faulty Elder Wand.
Place of Semi-Death: The Forbidden Forest
I was moved more to tears because I had been wrong. I was thoroughly convinced that Harry could never be a Horcrux. Even after rereading it, I'm still not sure how it could really be, but...
This was the time I actually had to stop for a good few minutes and weep and sob and cry. I felt tired and exhausted and hysterical and angry and mortified. I was in shock, and the tears couldn't come fast enough. My chest hurt, and all I could think of was..."This is a joke. NO, no this is not right. This can't be right. Harry can't be a Horcrux. Harry can't be dead. This can't be how it ends! Harry can't die! This isn't the way it was supposed to be!" My heart was pounding, and I must have looked like a complete idiot bawling and sobbing on the floor of my house, sleep deprived and drained, over a book.

But it has been so much more than a book for me. It's been my childhood. I read the first book back in 1997 when I was 8 years old in third grade. I picked up the book at the school Book Fair on the New Releases shelf. I fell in love instantly. That book was with me through childhood, through adolescence, through best friends and boy friends, definitely through very hard times: disease, sickness, and deaths, and it really rooted me in my own religious faith. It made me think. It made me analyze. It made me see that the world is not just black and white. There are enormous amounts of gray in Harry's world and my own. It helped me grow up. It helped me put death into perspective. When I was on the verge of dying with my disease, I found comfort in two things: the Bible and Harry Potter books to cope with the uncertainty of death. I experienced all of this through Harry's eyes. Harry...as well as Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger...have become a part of me, in a way. And to have Harry just...die...like that was wrong. It didn't fit. I didn't want to accept it at all. And luckily...I didn't have to.

I think the best thing about this book was closure. He didn't have to die to have closure. The thing that gave it closure was that Harry Potter started out with no family...we meet him AFTER he becomes an orphan...and Harry Potter would end, finally, with Harry having a family, at last. If that's not closure, I don't know what is.\\

VIVA HARRY POTTER!

(I'm just glad Ron didn't die. If he did, I'd be in the loony bin right now, drooling and talking about my days as a squash national champion...and I don't even know what squash is!)

Bellatrix Black Lestrange:
Cause of Death: Molly Prewett Weasley's unknown curse hit her "squarely in the chest, directly over her [nonexistant] heart.
Place of Death: The Great Hall in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
I knew she would die, although I thought that that was Neville's battle to fight, to be honest. But, GO MRS. WEASLEY. The only left to say is...GOOD RIDDANCE!
Rot in Hades, [What Mrs. Weasley called you!]

Nagini the Snake/Horcrux:
Cause of Death: Had her head cut off by Neville Longbottom with Godric Gryffindor's sword.
Place of Death: The Great Hall in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort:
Cause of Death: His Killing Curse backfired on him because he used the Elder Wand, which would only work for the true owner, Harry James Potter aka The Boy Who Lived.
Place of Death: The Great Hall in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Don't tell me you didn't see this coming?

Shannon

When Harry learned he had to die and when he desided to do so, i was...i really can't describe how awfull i felt. i'm so glad he came back!
I was sure that one of the twins will die, but Dobby? Poor thing...he helped them so much, they would be doomed without him!
Lupin was the one i actually expected, but Tonks and poor Ted been left all alone? Thank God he had Harry as his godfather, i mean he certainly take care of him, right?
My boyfriend thinks that Harry had to die alongside with Voldy, but i'm so glad he didn't! Voldy is dead!Hahahaha!!!He had it coming!
Snape...oh, i don't know. I mean, yeah the whole 'i love Lily' thing was great but still he never really cared about Harry and Harry only. Ah well, he didn't deserve to die but i don't take him like a big blow.
Molly killing Bella!!! Mothers really get upset when messing with their kids! Run for your life babe!!
Mad-eye was just...too soon...not having fought in the big battle?
Anyway J.K.R could have killed more, i mean war...hello!!! All in all no as many deaths as expected but still the book rocks!!!!!!!

i was really distraught when Dobby died, bcoz it was well explained, as well as Moody's, and Jo really made a deal that not only the charcters are grieving but also the readers too! Fred's too was so miserable, with Percy there ready to protect him after all those years, its sooo much, goodness the grief is taking over me again!

Lupin, Tonks, Creevey, im just suprised that theyre dead but not totally sad, coz like what i said i was just mentioned by someone, we as readers ddnt read the blow by blow account...

Hedwig's death was very instant, and i was speechless for a sec...

when i read that Rufus was dead, well that part really my heart beated so fast, like the doom is there, evil is crashing and there's total panic in my mind, i was so scared to turn over the page to another chapter...

Snape's death was also instant, but because we dont know his true identity at that time i ddnt feel sorry for him, but now that ive finished it, and thinking back what would Snape really felt when he was killed, i feel very very much sorry for him, i want to cry for him, and i hoped Jo included something like what happened to snape's body? did they found it? buried it like a hero's? i feel very very sorry...

Peter's death was kind of expecting, i know somehow he will feel guilt of being alive under Harry's, and im very thankful Jo ddnt let me fall...

for the bad guys, well they deserved it...like Bella, nasty one..

I was ok with all the deaths except Dobby and Fred. I don't usually get teary at books but those two had me going. I got a bit sad when Lupin and Tonks died too (poor Teddy).

a lot of the deaths, i expected.
i thought it was soooo sad when Fred died. his death affected me the most. it's terrible that such a funny, happy character died.
also, Hedwig dying was a big shock. i was thinking "how many more people/things that Harry care about is he gonna lose???"
