End-of-Term FeastThe time has come to say GOODBYE to another year at Hogwarts! Enjoy a great meal and good conversation with friends before the Hogwarts Express in the morning!
If you are a graduating student, the time has finally come for you to approach the pedestal against the far wall and sign off like all those before you. The Memory Book is where you can leave behind an account of your favourite memories of Hogwarts and advice for future students to read. Should there be any lingering thoughts about the school, now would be time to let them go before you join the adult world beyond.
This is likely the first time you have ever gotten this close to the pedestal. You notice that the book those you saw writing in it all these years has been bound in brass and brown leather. Although the book is old, it surprisingly has been kept under great care as only the beginning pages are starting to turn yellow. Feel free to flip through the pages, read up on what your already-graduated friends and even your parents had to say. Whenever you are ready, simply pick up the self-inking quill set beside the book and pour your heart and soul onto the first crisp blank page you see.

This was it, Elisa thought to herself as she walked over to the memory book. Her final year of schooling, while not at Hogwarts, she was still a Hogwarts student through it all. It was nice to see the book knew where to find them as she heard her big brother Wade tell her. She opened the book to the first blank spot, she didn't want anything to cloud her thoughts on what to write. So after a moment, she began to write...
SPOILER!!:
It is a challenging task to condense the time spent learning at Hogwarts and Beauxbatons here into an inspirational mark, but I'll try. The challenges faced at Hogwarts reflect the world outside these halls. The previous year had taught me how unpredictable the future is and that just because the worst has happened doesn't mean the end is near. It is unrealistic to believe you can prevent the worst from happening, instead what really matters is how you handle it and what you could do should it happen. That might not have been on the school curriculum but in the end, I have nothing left but gratitude to those who were patient with me in my time of need. Find your happiness and hold onto any positives and you will prosper.
Thank you,
Elisa Marie Potter

Elisa was glad to have decided to wear waterproof makeup for the festivities. After finishing her entry, she had taken a moment to find her big brother Wade's entry. She was not surprised at what he wrote and was happy to note he hadn't changed much since then as the bittersweet moment was settling in. So with a few quick dabs under her eyes, Elisa made herself presentable again before turning her back and returning to enjoy the rest of the Ending Ball.

How had he already made it through seven years at Hogwarts? He wasn't ready to sign his name in the memory book. He wasn't ready to say good bye to his learning experience yet. He didn't want to write down anything yet. He watched as Elisa wrote her note and wanted to take a peek at hers but figured it wouldn't help him. Stepping up to the book he grabbed his pen out of his jacket pocket and began to write.

Is this supposed to be the point where I give you all great advice? Or tell you I did great things while I was here? Cause if it is be prepared to be disappointed. Things may start off way more intense or terrifying than you originally expected them to be. Don't be alarmed, Hogwarts will have your back. If not Hogwarts I'm pretty sure Headmaster Trent will (he's a good dude)
Take the chances you are afraid to take. If you want to try out for the quidditch team, do it. You never know you could end up the quidditch captain because you decided to try out. Or you could become the next great Alchemist because your Potion skills are far better than my own. Do the things that scare you and you may just reach heights you never knew you could reach.
Be a friend to as many people as you can. Help the younger students find their place here, and make sure they don't ride the stairs for hours their first week trying not to get lost. Treat the house elves kindly and they'll look out for you, but don't pet a cute pink floof unless you want to become one yourself.
Yours truly,

Capping his pen he quickly placed it back into his pocket of his jacket and looked down at his note. It didn't feel very wise or insightful, but maybe someone would benefit from it. He turned his head brushing some of his dirty blonde hair off of his forehead and glanced at all of the students having fun and enjoying the end of the term as they were meant to. He couldn't believe this was his last hurrah.

Tina's heart raced as she waited in line for her turn to write in the memory book. Three long years she'd waited for this moment… no more keeping quiet, no more bottling up her emotions to avoid trouble. She was finally getting her chance to tell Hogwarts exactly what she thought of it! She took a deep breath as she stepped up to the pedestal and grabbed the quill. As she stared at the blank paper in front of her, she thought all of the anger and disdain she felt for Hogwarts would pour onto the page… but that didn't happen. To her own surprise, the negative feelings she once had had ebbed in light of recent events. Instead, she wrote:

I always thought that my entry in the memory book would be a rant about how awful Hogwarts is and how Beauxbatons is superior in every way, but this term has made me see both schools in a different light. The truth is that both schools have their strengths and their flaws. Beauxbatons may have the air of dignity and refinement that Hogwarts lacks, but it comes with an elitist attitude. Hogwarts may be a cesspool of chaos, but it comes with a sense of camaraderie and courage. While I can't honestly say I called Hogwarts my home, I've come to respect it for what it is and the lessons I learned there. I don't know how much the parting words of a reluctant Beauxbatons transfer will mean, but here they are.
To the students of Hogwarts: The most important lesson I've learned in my time here is always think for yourself. If someone tells you something you believe to be wrong, no matter how powerful or popular they are, you don't have to go along with it. Ask questions. Look at the evidence. Trust your instincts.
To Headmaster Trent: I still don't like you. I still think you made some poor decisions, but I will give you credit where it's due. You surprised me this term. You stood up for us students when I didn't think you would, and I respect you for that. So thank you.
To all of the professors, especially Professors Barlow, Beryl, Noble, and although I know they'll never read this, Professors Stewart and O'Hara: Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me! I won't soon forget the lessons I learned from you, both inside and outside of the classroom.
To the people who lost their lives during my time here; Thadius Potter, Kamryn Keighley, and Professor Dolly Dopple: I'm sorry for what happened to you. You deserved so much better than that, and you won't be forgotten.
Finally, there's one more person with ties to Hogwarts who I must acknowledge. His name is Gaston Marchand, and he's been like a father to me for most of my life. I wasn't here to experience firsthand what Hogwarts was like when he taught here, but I know he sacrificed so much of himself for this school and deserves to be remembered for it.

She concluded her entry not with a list of her accomplishments - because in the grand scheme of things, it didn't matter that she'd been a reserve player for the Ravenclaw quidditch team or voted Most Likely to Become Minister of Magic - but with a drawing of her trademark butterfly. Once she was satisfied with what she'd written (and drawn), she replaced the quill and stepped aside, allowing the next person to step forward.

Everyone who knew Drewett would know that he had actually prepared for this. He'd spent at least a week trying to think of what he wanted to write for the memory book, even when the idea had been looming about in his mind since seventh year began. Since then, the Ravenclaw had the vaguest idea for it and only began listing them down after NEWTs were over. And they were, finally, but so was his entire Hogwarts journey. Looking back, he can say it had been the wildest ride in his lifetime thus far.
There was a small satisfied smile on his lips as he made his way to the pedestal. He was over and done with this school, and a faint jumpy feeling was making his stomach tumble here and there. Whether it was of excitement or of nerves, he could not tell just yet. He momentarily pushed the sensation away as he looked through the pages of the memory book. He had come across the ones written by his dads, both biological and adoptive. Dadkey's entry made his nose crumple a little because he still was that veggie drink maker. And there was mum's too. Regardless, the warm fuzzy feeling in his chest from reading them worked like a stress relief. At one point in time, they had both stood here and written in these books as seventh years. He, too, encountered entries by Uncle Ethan, Uncle Dylan, and Aunt Min.
Hey, this was very nice. Much uwu.
Drewett paused once he flipped and ended on a blank page. This was it, it was his turn to write. He took out a small folded parchment from his pocket—he wasn't kidding when he said he'd prepared for this—and unfolded it, before dipping the quill into ink and beginning to copy and write.

This is a short open letter to the following people:
Mrs. Lorelai Stemp, Mr. Adam Stemp, Stemp children, who took me in when I was too young to understand the world's harshness yet loved me like I was their own.

All Hogwarts professors and staff, Headmaster Trent, Professor Schmoe, Professor Sandhu, Professor de Nostredame, Professor Fuller-Thompson, Professor Recard, Professor Rainwater, Professor Eris, Professor Noble, Professor Strum, Professor Garrett, Professor Suxton, Professor Burke, who helped me go through the toughest year of any student to wander these halls.

Mum, Dad, Xaria, Mark, Cairo, even Bertha, who gave hope to me, a once fifteen-year-old boy, and turned my world upside down.
My best friend Hudson Lupin, and our absurd little owl family, who has stuck with me since day one.
Evan Eastwood, who made my corner of the universe a little brighter just by letting me guess which American state she lived in.
Mackenzie Motts, Jolie Chosen, Nerissa Tate, Serene Jiang, Nina Castillo, Rylee Prichard, Kieran Stevenson, Lenora Bell, Soleil Gálvez, Trinetta Gladin, Missa Renaldi, Eloise Fairfield, Juliette Gainsbourg, Hanna Newton, Little B Rasting, Chloe McCarthy, Céline Myles, Park So-young, Nora Barrie, Iclyn Fair, Noémi Durand, who are solid gift givers, huggers, and advisers despite my usual awkward self.
Gunnar McCarthy, Alessandro Toussaint, Kodee Chosen, Ivory Chosen, Kaiser, Keenan Burton, Fraser Jourdann, Nox Stuart, Septimus Hadley-Nairne, Stefan De Rossi, Aaron Botros, who found a friend in me when I almost convinced myself that I'd be fine without any.
———
Thank you.
Because, if it weren't for you, I would have still been the same scared, stuttering boy from seven years ago. (And if I missed anyone out, please don't take it personally. I can't possibly remember everyone I've met, but you're just as important too.)
Hogwarts, I don't think I have any wise advice for you. I just want it written down that I was here for a time, and I survived. Who would have thought?
See you at the Wizarding University of London, hopefully.

He sighed once he was finished, and replaced the quill from where he'd taken it. To Drewett, this was like tying a ribbon around a gift box of all his memories and experiences in Hogwarts. It was a nice way of saying goodbye, despite all its heaviness.
Drewett turned around and smiled at the next person in line, whispering a congratulations to his classmate. He would be joining his friends for their last feast at Hogwarts now, and he couldn't think of a better way to end this journey than with the people whom he'd had the pleasure of meeting along the way.

After Kodee's completely characteristic, juvenile outburst, Alessandro politely removed himself from his friends to take a breath. It was for the benefit of everyone he knew that he not remain in their company while his anger at Kodee still bubbled just under the surface.
His eyes flicked over to the memory book. Al supposed it was as convenient time as any to sign it. Perhaps once he unburdened his heartfelt written goodbyes, he would be in better spirits to return to his friends for their final feast.
The seventh year Hufflepuff approached the book and picked up the quill. He looked down at the seemingly endless entries and mulled over the years and years of goodbyes hidden in the pages. He wondered how many friendships and relationships outlined in this memory book were now ashes. How many promises of forever included turned out to only be until we drift apart. Teenagers were fickle after all.
He cracked his neck. Alessandro turned to a fresh page and began to jot down his most personal goodbye.
SPOILER!!: Alessandro Toussaint, Class of 2101
Alessandro Toussaint attended Hogwarts School from 2093-2101. He was sorted into Hufflepuff.
It wasn't the first time Gunnar McCarthy had looked at the memory book and perused some of its entries, but tonight it would be the last. There had been a few times when he was much younger that he sought out a few specific memorandums, his parents' in particular. And anyone that knew him would know that he'd not be as sentimental and wordy as either of his parents, but he still felt the need to leave a lasting mark in the book for.... posterity, he supposed.
He approached the memory book after a few of his fellow seventh years had finished jotting down their own thoughts, and he took a minute to read over theirs. Alessandro's immediately brought a smile to his face as he'd expect nothing less than such a succinct entry from him. And Drew's, well... that was a lot of names and Gunnar skimmed over that part, but he did find his own name towards the end, which he found rather touching. He supposed his own entry would be something in the middle of those two.
SPOILER!!: Gunnar's entry
I am not going to depart with any profound words of wisdom or emotional goodbyes to those I'm leaving behind. Instead, let this serve as a record that I survived Hogwarts. For better or for worse, Hogwarts was an experience that helped shaped the person I am today and helped prepare me for the future - a future I am very much looking forward to. Goodbye Hogwarts, I'm not looking back. In fact, I'm taking all of the best parts with me - the friends I've made and the lessons I've learned - making me a better person because of it.

This was something Chloe had seen others do every single year and she always wondered how they felt, what they were thinking, had they written their things ahead of time, but now that she was the one here she thought she might have had all those questions wrong. Standing and waiting her turn and then touching the book she couldn't help but think that there wasn't an answer to any of those questions. She was in awe that it was time for her to graduate, she was scared of the future, excited to see her family, and so many more emotions she couldn't even describe.
As she flipped through the book she smiled seeing names she recognized, her grandmother she never got to meet, her dad, mom, all their friends that she had known as her aunts and uncles all her life. Then she landed on Gunnar's entry and just smiled, of course he wouldn't have much to say but it would leave an impression all the same. He was so good at that, she wished she could be even close to the way he was with being a leader. Picking up the quill she took a breath before making her own mark in the book for others to read:
SPOILER!!: Chloe McCarthy's Entry
So many students walk into this castle having no clue how it will change them. We come in as first years, basically babies so naive, but this castle molds us, scares us, and almost kills us, but it helps us grow. Some of us have found love here that will stay forever, others have found friendships that will never go away, while others are just passing through, learning what they need to become great in the next chapter of their lives. No matter which person you are while you are here at Hogwarts always remember you are great, you are loved, and you are important. The lessons you learn outside of the classroom might be even more important than the lessons you learn in them.
Thank you professors for guiding us to be who we are meant to be, for pushing us when we didn't think we could do what you knew we could, and for seeing light in us when all we give you is dark. To my friends that will still be here after I leave you are going to do great! Keep working hard and make as many memories as you can. To my friends that will be walking out of the castle with me to move to greater adventures good luck and know you can always owl me if you need someone to cheer you on!
Thank you house elves for all the wonderful care you give!
Chloe McCarthy

It would be a lie to say that Nettie hadn't been thinking about what she wanted to write in her memory book entry for the last few days. Truthfully, she probably would have thought it over sooner, but considering the mental stress they'd all been under this past year, the memory book had been the last thing on her mind. Now, though, as she walked up to the book, she found herself blanking. Everything she had hoped to write seemed to have dropped right out of her little blonde head.
Unlike her peers, she wouldn't find entries from Royland or Jimmy in here. They'd gone to Beauxbatons, and this was the only mark a Gladin would make on Hogwarts until Josie came here if her brother and Hattie actually let her out of their site long enough to send her. Therefore, she suddenly found herself putting an immense amount of pressure on herself as she stared down at the blank page.
She was being silly. She could simply write a quick sentence, say PEACE OUT HOGWARTS like some of the older kids had, and leave it at that. But she would always regret it if she didn't write out something more...thoughtful.
Biting her lip, she grabbed a quill, dipped it in some ink, and began to write:
SPOILER!!: Entry
It would be an understatement to say that my time here at Hogwarts has been simply eventful. No, my experience here was...exciting. Challenging. Rewarding. Terrifying. From my very first term, up until just a few days ago, there has hardly been a single moment of peace at this school. Honestly, I wouldn't have had my Hogwarts experience go down any other way. Throughout my seven years I learned more about myself than I could have ever imagined - and discovered some parts of myself I wanted to forget. I stubbornly insisted I knew everything at times, and I like to hope that I've started to learn to let myself be wrong every once in a while it's a work in progress. I surprised myself in so many situations. But at the end, I learned to love myself and who I have become and I have so many people and experiences to thank for that.
I got to attend another school for a term. I faced Inferi and survived. I met the Hogwarts founders even if that ended up being a disaster, who else can say that?! I was able to play Quidditch for a few terms, and I was even Prefect for a short time. To all the professors who have taught here during these seven terms - thank you. Seriously, thank you SO much for helping develop me into the witch I am today. Now, on to some of my peers I want to shout out to:
First, to Alex. I wish you'd transferred here sooner so we could have experienced more of Hogwarts together. Reprimanding you for chewing gum too loudly in the library ended up being a defining moment in my life, and I don't regret it for a second. I know this is sappy, but you deserve all the happiness in the world and I'm so happy that I get to help you discover that.
To Chloe - our friendly rivalry in quidditch seems so silly now, doesn't it?! You're one of the kindest people I have ever met and I can't wait to cheer you on in the stands someday when you're a famous quidditch player. I know you'll always be there for me when I have to vent or ask advice, and I hope you know I'll always be there for you to talk to as well.
To Ethan - you are always there to be encouraging and and I'm so grateful for that. Remember when we went to the masquerade ball together as first years?! It seems like forever ago. You're always optimistic and so positive, which was definitely needed many times over these past seven years.
To Missa - I'm really really sorry I cast a storm cloud over your bed that one time. It was such a stupid fight, and I'm so glad we were able to grow up, mature, and end up becoming true friends. You're honestly one of the nicest people I know, and I know that you know exactly what I'm going through when I tell you I'm overthinking something. You gave me advice I needed even when it wasn't necessarily what I wanted to hear, and I don't think I've ever told you how much I truly appreciate that. Well, I do. More than you know.
Finally, to Eiji. You're probably one of the few people at this school as stubborn as I am. You were one of my first true friends at this school and even though we haven't talked lately, and I'm not sure when we'll talk again - I still consider you one of my good friends. I know you know this. I'll always be here. Just in case.
There are so many people that made Hogwarts special to me, some of whom have already graduated. Nina, Ewan, Eloise, Beth, Keenan, Evan, Drew, Mark, Lenora, and so many more I've probably forgotten to mention. Just because we're graduating doesn't mean we can't still owl. And best believe I WILL be owling you!
Finally, to my parents. If you guys had never moved to England, I would have gone to Beauxbatons, and that would have been an absolute disaster.
I've just noticed that I'm rambling, which is embarrassingly on brand for me. So, a few words of advice to wrap things up:
-Think before you speak. This would have helped me in MANY situations.
-You are never done growing, learning, and discovering yourself. You're not going to have all the answers as a first year. In fact, you won't have them as a seventh year either!
-Don't wait until the last minute to finish your homework. It's unnecessary stress.
-Don't act out in defiance to professors to try and make a point. It's not going to work. You're going to get detention. I guarantee this.
-Be nice to transfer students. It may take them a term to get caught up with the slang. It's not their fault!
-The oars in the boathouse are actually really heavy and can do serious damage. Don't mess with them.
And with that, I think I'll conclude this entry. Thanks Hogwarts. For everything.

Merlin, how long had she been up here? She blushed a little, even though she was sure no one was keeping tabs on how long she'd been writing for, and stepped aside so the next person in line could step up to the book.

She was graduating - it felt surreal. Considering everything that happened this term, Jina thought she might not be able to leave the school alive. But the storm was gone, magic was restored and she was standing in front of the pedestal holding the Memory Book, ready to sign off. She couldn’t be happier, though she would have loved to prepare in advance. Unfortunately, she was too busy dealing with her short term memory loss over the past few months to think about the future. She just had to improvise and try not to mess it up (which was her motto as of late). When she had organised her thoughts a little, she flipped to a blank page, picked up the self-inking quill and began to write.

The dominant emotion I had right before my first day at Hogwarts was: fear. I was scared of going to a new school, having to make new friends, and of course by then I had heard that mysterious events happen here every single term. Frightening things did occur in the two years I spent here, but hey, I survived! Hogwarts has taught me to be brave in the face of adversity. I learned that it is quite alright to feel fear, as long as I show courage and use my abilities to persevere through the difficult times. I believe that the courage I developed at Hogwarts will prove to be an invaluable trait throughout my life in the Wizarding World.
Ok this was really really weird. Not that Eloise wanted to stay any longer at this school considering everything. But there was a part of her that liked the people here and wanted to stay longer. Well you know if it was just a normal normal school year. Not like that ever happens because all she wanted to was just play football with Cel and Dez some more, mess with Eiji and Nina tho nowadays it less mess with and now just talking, hang out/mess with with crazy Ravenclaws and well her dorm in general, enable Lenora and Neve, hang out with Calyx or Karlin, or even just have normal letter conversations with Navid. Ok that was a lot more than even she thought it would be. Even walking up to this dumb book the red-head had no idea what she was going to write. She was debating not even writing anything. Which would have been on brand but well it felt right to at least write something in here. She flipped through some pages thinking of what to write before seeing Drewie's entry.
What a nerd.
Anyway, Nettie needed an editor because boy was her entry long and at least Chloe's was short and to the point and before she goes off judging entries from people who graduated already even tho she already did that with Drewie's it was time for her to write something
SPOILER!!: Eloise's Entry
Sooo I have to say I did have fun here for what was it six years here and one at Beauxbatons. Didn't take it all too seriously besides grades, because this girl wants to be an Auror, which made it easier even if it resulted in a bunch of detentions and skateboards being "confiscated". Class Clown is a fitting title and Class Troll would be one also. Thanks, Professor Sandhu and Professor Schmoe for both being a woot and a half and Trent for not expelling me even if I did miss the first week of classes this year. Though it did result in that good Nina rant about responsibility and whatnot which I still remember. Good Times.

Huh, longer than she thought. Honestly she thought she would write 'Good Bye Hogwarts. Its be a blast' and leave. Well guess she cared a little after all tho it wasn't all good times like with the boggart stuff. But that's best left out of this book.
Ok time to go

He really did not want to write in this stupid book. It was yet another thing on the long list of things his mum and dad had raved about the summer leading into his seventh year. All these amazing rites of passage and 'musts' that translated to 'nopes' in his mind. There had even been reminders to make an outline early so he said all that he wanted to. Well, guess what mum and dad...he didn't want to say anything. And it was likely that salty pettiness that had him eventually pour the final offering of annual soup given to himself and his sister by their dad out the train window all the way back on September 1st.
That seemed like eons ago now...and it quite literally was considering the time warp mess Hogwarts had found itself in this term.
So as he approached the pedestal with the Memory Book laid upon it, Eiji was ready to simply sign his name and walk away. Easy, painless, in and out without much thought and he could tell his parents that yes he had in fact signed the book and he wouldn't be lying about it. And yet the moment the quill was in his hand he found himself wondering...just what had his parents written in here?
And so he was turning back...page and pages and pages back until he saw the mention of his mum's name. Only it wasn't her entry but in some fellow's named Riley Sinclair who was apparently the source of the house elf rumor if the writing was any indication. His mum must have only been a second year when this was written...and she had already made an impact. Typical. Though apparently he was in the mood to suffer so he flipped back even more and found references to his mother in the entries of seventh years and Triwizard champions from when his mum had only been a first year. T Y P I C A L. He rolled his eyes and spitefully flipped the pages while scanning for his mum's entry, finding more and more mentions of her and growing more and more agitated by each one. Though, he did pause a moment to read Auntie Lexi's...and might have thrown up a little in his mouth reading some of the advice she had left specifically to his mum. Thank you for the visuals he did not want and now the wondering if he and Missa had...well...never mind. Not going there.
He paused again when he came across Jillian's father's entry and another realization suddenly sunk in. One that could make the rest of their final feast at Hogwarts...a little awkward so maybe he would just ignore the revelation. It was stowed away in the category of "things I never needed to know about my parents". Then there was some fellow named Keefer Oswald Marius who left a message to his dad ... and a little further down he finally found his mum's words. Her handwriting hadn't changed much at all and he spent a good few seconds just staring at how foreign her name looked like that before his eyes were on their way to rolling out of his head at the list of superlatives she had left beneath her name. He had half a mind to skip it, he wanted to, or maybe tear the page out...but he closed his eyes instead and took a breath before reading her entry thoroughly. It was a decision he mostly regretted until he reached the final paragraph.
"I guess what I am saying is that you never know where or when you will met the people who will change your life forever, but the important thing is to let them. Let as many people touch your life as possible. This is something Hogwarts has taught me," he read aloud quietly to himself, breathing in the words as he spoke them and and he suddenly felt heavy and even a little tense. 'The important thing is to let them'. These words truly hit him like a ton of bricks, or perhaps an oar to the face, and he read over them several more times before he felt an unnatural sting to his eyes and he reached up instinctively to wipe whatever dust had surely caught in them. Only there was no dust, save for the dusty realization that in pursuit of his own ambitions...he may lost sight of a bigger picture. His fingers traced his mum's signature once more before he continued, reading Auntie Genevieve's and Auntie Selina's entries (which nearly had him cracking tight smiles) and stopped soon after the quidditch star's.
Did he dare read the entries of his peers that came before him? Apparently he did and mostly because he had to turn back so he could find himself a blank page...because apparently he DID have things to say. Starting with names he recognized, he started reading a little and shamelessly decided that that future alchemist that Worst Quidditch Captain Ever Dooley was speculating about in his entry was a reference to himself. He groaned a little seeing that his little sister received an actual name mention before himself, but cut himself a little slack since it was only the words of DrewIDIOT, after all. Down the page he continued to scan and well, that was just great because Alessandro had done what he had wanted to initially...so it was a good thing, he supposed, that his mum's words had stirred something inside the Slytherin so he wouldn't look like some sort of imitation. But really, he and Gunnar had the right idea with this whole Memory Book nonsense - no wonder he had admired both while they had been here.
He paused here first to write his own entry and wanted to do so before reading what his peers had said so their words would not influence his own. He ended up writing MUCH more than he anticipated he would and, shockingly, was not bothered by this. It felt...right.
Setting the quill back in the ink well, Eiji went back to read over what his graduating classmates had written. Chloe first which he admittedly skimmed and he was all set to skip over Trinetta's entirely ... except his mum's words resonated with him stupidly once again and he read properly. There was some instant regret ... followed by genuine surprised to see his name there. And disappointed with what came after - not at her, but more directed towards himself - the disappointment lingered briefly as he continued down her entry to her little pearls of wisdom and just how many of those were, technically, his influence. Could he write 'told you so' beside the one referencing her locket? Could he? He did not and instead read Jina's next...and then Eloise.
......of course. Because of course she would. of BLOODY course.
He snatched the quill back and promptly amended his own entry in hurried and ANGRY scribbles with a bit too much information while in the next breath finding himself almost laughing. This was it. Nothing left to do now but return to his house table. Though, as he turned, his eyes grazed over the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor tables and he felt an uncanny urge that he decided not to question. So it would be two brief pit stops before he went back to his house table.
It was time he started embracing a little more. Ironic how the lesson his mum had taken from her time here at Hogwarts was...one in the same with his own, and that wasn't a bad legacy to live up to.
SPOILER!!: Eiji's entry
My name is James Eiji Rasting. I am the son of Kurumi Rasting (though this book knows her as Kurumi Hollingberry) and the grandson of the current Minister for Magic, Charles Hollingberry. From the first day of my first year and even before I arrived at Hogwarts proper, I spent every breathing moment battling with these legacies that came before me. Determined to carve my own path at all costs, I became the first on either side of the family to be sorted into Slytherin. I spent all this time fighting their legacies with a quiet and salty ferociousness that my own mark will fade quickly and quietly...and I accept that as I accept the choices that brought me to this point. I share not the sentimental attachment to the castle and I am rather skeptical that many will even read my words here (I know the reputation I carefully constructed for myself) but if you are reading this, then I have a thoughts based on the past seven years for you to consider as you move forward with wherever in life you are approaching next:
Don’t fancy yourself clever for the subconscious tests your mind and actions may create to test your peers to really sees and understands you. While the finite group that does manage to jump through these invisible hoops will form a strong inner circle, pride may be robbing you. I could have been more humble.
Time at Hogwarts and life in general is too short to waste fretting over what other people think of you. When you spend your time hoping someone will suffer the consequences for what they did to your heart, you're allowing them to hurt you a second time in your mind. Holding grudges and burning bridges is not as exhausting nor as difficult as some will try to talk you into believing. You get to decide who is and is not worth your time and affection. You can be guarded and meticulous with your forgiveness of others. I could have been more forgiving and I could have let more people in.
Some alchemists say that the true essence of magic is not about gaining power over others but rather it is about gaining power over yourself. A kind of thinking that leads to a way of understanding. However your brain processed these words and whatever visual manifested in your mind is the message you needed in the moment you read this. You’re welcome.
Just because you ignore a cauldron set over an open flame, lid on, does not mean it will not boil over or explode. It might not be in the next moment, or tomorrow, or next week, or even next year...but eventually that cauldron will create a mess. You are responsible for the clean up or if there will even be a need for clean up. Take responsibility, act upon your truths, and speak them. I could have been more proactive and open.
You don’t fall in love with people. You discover love with people and then you build and nurture love. And it’s worth it. It’s all worth it when you allow yourself to become an explorer, a scientist, a curious person and discover. I love exquisitely and ferociously.
I arrived at Hogwarts unapologetically myself and that is how I leave it but as a transformed version of myself, because the universe conspired to help me achieve that and I was listening.
Let the record show that
I have never once had
nor desire to have a
flobberworm tattoo on my body,
least of all places my BUM!

Nina Castillo used to hate everything about this castle. She hated the hallways, she hated the people, she hated the trick stair on that one infuriating moving-staircase. It was funny how much could change in the matter of a few years. Now, she would give anything to make it last longer. She would be willing to serve a few more (UNJUST) detentions, to endure more uncomfortable lessons with Professor Fuller-Thompson, and she would even be willing to put up with another year of living with Eloise Fairfield.
It was with a certain amount of heaviness in her heart that she made her way to the memory book. Nina hadn’t ever taken the time to give it a proper read before now. When she had first come to Hogwarts, she thought she knew better than any advice that could have been given to her. By the time she realized that this wasn’t the case, she had already sorted things out for herself with the help of a few incredibly patient friends. Now that she was standing before the book for the first time, she couldn’t help but flip back and skim over the pages for the first time. Many of the names she did not recognize, though there were a few she could trace back to some of her classmates. She did feel a little envious of the rich histories they had that linked so far back to the castle. But maybe one day in the future she, too, would have a family that could trace back a Hogwarts’ history of their own.
Finally she made it to a series of names that she did recognize. Indigo Rousseau, Drewett Gunter, Gunnar McCarthy. Nina took extra care in reading their entries. Indigo’s brief (yet incredibly heartfelt) entry resonated deeply within her heart, Drewett’s unsurprisingly sappy entry warranted a second read over, and Gunnar’s succinct (and intentional) final words left her feeling optimistic for what was waiting for her future ahead. She took another minute or two to read over the newer entries, those written by classmates who were graduating with her, most of which she read in entirety. She only skimmed through Trinetta’s entry, as the girl had decided to write an entire novel (as expected, Trinetta Gladin always had something to say). She paused before reading Eloise’s entry, bracing herself for whatever horrible advice she had to give. “Most Likely to set Nina Castillo’s Bed on Fire.” Neen rolled her eyes. There weren’t any "most likelies" about it. Eloise literally did that. In third year. And yet somehow, despite it all, Nina knew she would miss Eloise too. And then there was Eiji. She was proud of him, for what it was worth. Not just now, but always.
And when she had finally run out of entries to read, it became evident that she had no other viable excuse to put off writing an entry of her own. Of course her entry was premeditated. Coming up with something on the spot was never an option for the young Slytherin. She would much sooner chop off all her hair than stumble into something unprepared. And though she preferred to keep her personal reflections private, Nina knew she owed it to herself to leave one final piece of heart within the castle. That and she would never turn down an opportunity to give her unsolicited advice.
So she carefully dipped her quill into the pot of ink and began writing in pristine script.
SPOILER!!: Nina Castillo, Class of 2102
People will be quick to think they know you. They’ll whisper when you walk into rooms, make judgments upon your character, and box you in with labels to make you feel small. But there will also be those who truly see you. The ones who take the time to know your heart and who will fight tirelessly to help you see the best version of yourself. I never knew how many of these people existed and I am privileged to have found so many of them here.
To all those who will come to Hogwarts after us, the scared and the uncertain:
It was difficult and no one knew, but it helped me grow and it will help you grow too.
Infinitely yours,
Nina Castillo Medellín Hogwarts Class of 2102 xx
After reading her entry thrice over, she set down the quill and made her way back to the Slytherin table. She was proud of this one and she knew Calyx would be too.
Because Nina Castillo never hated any of it, not really. Not the hallways, not the people, and not even the trick stair on that one infuriating moving-staircase.

Jillian was not prepared for this because for some reason writing on this large chunk of book is more than just leaving a note- or at least that's how she felt. Her father told her about this in particular which got her hands quite sweaty that day just thinking about it. Jillian knew she's not big with words and that despite giving advice comes naturally for her (not really, that's a lie) she's not the type to have a bunch of things to say nor to write on cue. It is why she has never kept a single journal her entire life. What does she write in this book? The things she will miss? The food? The moulds on the walls? Now that she is thinking about it, perhaps those favorite things would make a good entry. The seventh year Slytherin stood in line, her foot tapping lightly on the cemented floor whilst chewing her inner lip. Her fingers fidgetting a bit as a way to sort of "calm down"- she has no reason to be nervous but somehow she is. She wonders if the people before her felt the same way as well. Jillian watched Nina, who was still concentrating writing and finishing up- she assumed. Her mind still buzzing with ideas on what else to write on her entry.
There's a lot to reminisce about this place. Jillian have always thought of Hogwarts as a second home and that is something she will always be grateful of. She might not be too emotional like the others but deep down she knows for sure she will miss this place a lot. As her turn came up, she walked towards the book and took a deep breath. Trying to somehow calm herself she went through the older entries. Jillian can't help but smile when she saw her father's entry wondering how it feels like to come back to this place after all those years and read what you have written in this book. Jillian knows she will most likely cringe reading this 20 years from now with all her classmates in here. Her brown eyes lingered to a few more entries from her now aunts and uncles that used to come by and visit her when she was still a kid- or so her father shared. She recalls some of the names here, stories from her father's high school past and even Eiji's and Rebecca's parents- that was one christmas story she will never forget. SEEEEEE????!!!!! cringe. She takes the quill this time, flipped through the pages and stops on a free page.
This will be short and quick, she thought to herself.
SPOILER!!: Jillian Kim's entry
To those we leave behind, "Do what makes you happy". Make so many friends that you forget some of their names; Eat so much food that your pants could no longer handle it; Visit every inch of this school and get caught entering the Forbidden Forest; DO NOT ENTER THE FORBIDDEN FOREST! ; Dream big and always keep on dreaming; Live up to your best potential; Attend classes and enjoy the activities; Learn an extra-curricular: Could be sports. could be baking, could be a new language; Fall in love and fall in love hard; Get your heart broken, make mistakes; Pick different choices when you don't know which one to choose, try out all the options and learn from it; Keep doing things that make you happy and free. We all get to be in high school for seven years only so spend your years here making a lot of memories- the good and also the bad.
Hah. It's been a long ride but we finally made it, Class 2102!!!
Thanks for all of the memories. I had the time of my life! I wish you all the best of luck!

Approaching the pedestal with more curiosity than anything, Ewan couldn’t help but take a second and pause in front of it to really take in the moment because it was something that has been coming for such a long time. He was about to become the first in his family to write in the Hogwarts Memory Book and the gravity of it all didn’t go amiss on him. What did go amiss though was what he had say. How does one go about summing up 7 years of one’s life in just a few short words? It seemed impossible and yet there were hundreds of students from years past who had done it so it could be done, just maybe not by him. Any who, he was going to try, one way or another.
Reaching out slowly, not really caring if there was anyone waiting to use it after him, he opened the brown leather exterior and begin to flip carefully through the pages looking for any names that he recognised. It wasn’t until the last few pages though that he really started to slow down, stopping at the names of some of his friends from years gone and some who were leaving now.
What had he really been worried about really? A few short words? Some of them had practically written essays worthy of a NEWT examination exam! And yet, he found his eyes moving along from word to work, pulling the meaning from the ink. The forming of the lump in his throat was gradual. It built, not because he saw his name mentioned or because he recognised the names of his friends. No, it was the idea of a shared experience. The fact that even though he didn’t know many of them as well as he would have liked, they had all (for the most part) gone through the same trials and tribulations and somehow, if somewhat miraculously, come out at the end of it, stronger and ready to make a difference in the word with memories that would last a lifetime.
With a deep, steadying breath, he stopping reading before he got too emotional and finally flicked to the next blank page, picked up the quill positioned next to the book and begin to write his own snippet of history.
SPOILER!!: Ewan George Jones, Class of 2102
How does a boy with no magical knowledge and so little confidence reach the last year and summarise how Hogwarts has affected him? It cannot be put into words because to do so would not do it justice, and yet, I am going to try and share what Hogwarts is to me and what it could be to you too.
Hogwarts is home, first and foremost. It was a roof over my head when I had nowhere else to turn and it fed me when I had nothing to my name but the clothes on my back and for that, it will always have a special place in my heart no matter how many times it tries to kill me and believe me, there were many. No matter how hard you try, trouble will find you and the more you try to manoeuvre around it, the more it pulls you in but don’t worry. These are the times that will make you and build you up to be there person you're meant to become. These are the times that you’ll form memoires that will live on, both in the minds of the students and the walls of the school for eternity. Daunting, isn’t it?
Next, the teachers. Take everything they say with a pinch of salt. They are there to help you and to guide you and that they will do to the best of their ability but sometimes, their best isn’t good enough and that’s okay because it gives you the chance to really become who you want to be and to follow a path that sings to you. For the help, guidance, arguments and words of wisdom, teachers, I thank you.
And finally, to my friends…this is not the end. It is merely the beginning of something new and different. I may not know you as much as I would have liked but I wish you the very best because I may not have made a difference in your life but you all have changed mine, both for better and worse and for that, I thank you.
Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes for a moment and just stood there in silence. This was it. The final goodbye. Opening his eyes, he swallowed the snitch sized lump in his throat, carefully placed the quill back down where it had sat before and turned to leave, ready for whatever the world had to throw at him next.
Missa wanted to avoid this part. It felt more like an end than anything else she had experienced in the night - especially when she started reading all the entries left by her fellow graduates. The more she read however, the more blank her mind became. Trinetta’s made her smile, Eiji’s made her proud.
But she didn’t know what to say.
The quill was in her hand, some ink even dropped off the nip on the parchment - but words didn’t come. Strange how Hogwarts had given her the courage to speak, but now that she was here, she couldn’t express what this place had meant to her.
She stood there for a good ten minutes, her eyes tearful, her heart extremely full, before finally getting herself to write:
SPOILER!!: Missa Alana Renaldi, Ravenclaw Class of 2102
Strangely satisfied, she placed the quill down and walked away.

Waiting her turn in line, Stella bit her lip watching her fellow seventh years sign the book. She read through it multiple times, but now she waa going to leave her own legacy behind for others. It was an odd feeling, she really wasn't good at giving advice but here she was. Taking Oceanus advice on just write from the heart she walked up to the book. Taking the quill her hands shaking she started writing.
Looking at the page she blinked at what she wrote, wow... she didn't know she wrote this much. Reading it she seen it was a bit cheesy but hey... she didn't want to change it. Smiling she signed her name placing the quill back in it's rightful place. Walking off she smiled to herself looking around. "Goodbye Hogwarts, it been a wild and crazy ride.
SPOILER!!: Stella's entry
If you were to ask me about my Hogwarts experience I would tell you that it was quite a ride, the ups and the downs made me the person I am today. If you want my advice it's quite simple, write your own story beyond these walls of this castle and don't be afraid to try new things. Even when there's an evil beady eyed man trying to run the school don't lose hope there's always a rainbow after a storm! Oh... don't hug cute furry creatures no matter how cute they are, you'll end up with pink hair and itchy! Be nice to everyone even the portraits cause you never know when you'll get stuck in one.
One thing this place taught me, is that you're the author of your own life make it count cause you can't get it back, make memories and make friends with all houses! For the first years, make each moment count cause the time will flash by right before your eyes.
To my friends, I'm so thankful for the time we had together and I'll keep in touch with you always even when we part ways. To all my professors old and new, thank you for teaching me the things I need to know, cause of you I can now face the real world as a adult. I'll remember my time here and cherish them forever in my heart and tell my kids of my adventures here.
Goodbye Hogwarts!

Naya wasn’t exactly looking forward to writing in the memory book. That was probably because she hadn’t given much thought to what she would say.........before now. This was her chance to leave her mark on Hogwarts. This was something that others might read one day, something that would let future students know that she existed, that she had been there. No pressure though.
The Gryffindor approached the book and quill in hand, stood still for a long moment. Finally, she decided to wing it and began to write.
SPOILER!!: Naya’s goodbye
As I reflected on my time at Hogwarts, I realized that this is the craziest, scariest, and most wonderful place in the universe. I have learned many things here, about myself and life in general. The most important thing I learned was that I am a survivor, we all are. You kind of have to be around here because there is always something weird that just happened, is happening or is about to happen. You learn to expect the unexpected. Know that if you are writing in this book, you have survived Hogwarts and will probably be prepared for anything life can throw at you.
Every single person at this school has touched me in some way and I thank you all for that. I like to think that I’m a better person for having known you.
To my fellow Gryffindors and especially my roomies: Thanks for the memories. I will never forget the good times, the bad times, the wild times. You are my forever family.
To my favorite little lions Phoebe James & Bernie Grantham: You made life interesting around here. Never stop shaking things up, but don’t do anything too crazy.
To my Professors: Thank you all. You have the hardest of job of all, but you are appreciated. Believe it or not, we heard you and we learned. I will take everything I have learned to the next stage of my life and beyond.
To my boyfriend, my best friend, my partner in crime, my person, Cole Vance: You have brightened my days and been there for me, no matter what. You are the absolute best thing about my time at Hogwarts. I couldn’t have made it without you. This is not goodbye. It is only the beginning.
Thank you Hogwarts!

With that, she was done......done with writing and done with her Hogwarts career. Determined not to shed a tear, Naya headed back to the Gryffindor table. She would say her last goodbyes and then it would be over.

Carsyn had seen seventh years who graduated before her making their turn up to the book. She hadn't been sure what she was going to write when her time came, but finally it was inevitable that she make her way up. She was a prefect, after all, so wasn't it expected that she write something? Some wise words before she left this castle for the final time as a student. There was no telling what her future would hold but her time of Hogwarts classes had drawn to a close. Her time of pink fuzzies and magical portraits that ate your friends and ghosts that possessed you. Of french students and Merlin only knew what else.
Before writing her own entry though, she flipped back through towards near the beginning to find her mama's entry, withholding the tears as she read through the words. And Tancred's was right before, along with her Aunt Mia's right after. She knew her father had graduated a few terms before, so perhaps he hadn't written in it? The book maybe didn't start then. Feeling fully nostalgic now, she flipped back to the most recent entries, reading those of her dormmates, Stella and Naya and smiled at the memories she would have for life with them. She hoped she represented their dorm well.
Finally, she picked up the quill to write her own message.
SPOILER!!: Carsyn Rose, Gryffindor
To Hogwarts Professors, Students, and whoever else reads this:
Does anyone even read this before seventh year? No idea, but I will leave you with only one thought. Make your own mistakes. I could write a long list of things I've learned during my time here at Hogwarts, but none of it really will be imperative to your own growth. Even if professors roll their eyes at you, make the mistakes. Learn from them.
Thank you for the memories and until we meet again.

It had sort of been seven terms in the making. Carys had watched the seventh years go up to the book since first year. Even when they hadn’t been at Hogwarts, the book had still been there for everyone to make their mark in. Even if some people had probably made their mark on Hogwarts outside of the book, it sort of felt like this was a rite of passage in itself. Like maybe this book would live on long after they’d all left and gone on to live their lives. She figured there had to be some kind of charms placed on the book to preserve the pages, anyhow. From her research and experimentation on trying to make her own Wizarding portraits, she knew things like that existed.
In any case, she had followed her sister up to the stand holding the book, and may have glanced over her words before flipping back through the previous pages to look for other names she recognized, her mum and Aunt Mia and Uncle Tancred at the very least. It just made her feel that much more like it was something she needed to do. She needed to leave something behind, especially since it appeared like she wasn’t going to get that mural done with Mark. Sorry Jackson. But anyway, she took up the quill, and after a moment to think, she began to write.
SPOILER!!: Carys’ entry
Hogwarts is my home…A lot of people say this. A lot of people who have written in here before me have said this, but it’s really kind of true. After seven terms together, we really are sort of a big family. We have our moments where we might not like each other, but then, who doesn’t have that happen in their actual family too? Everyone who has come here leaves knowing one thing, we’ve all learned how strong we are. That we can survive everything that’s thrown at us, even if we temporarily lose Hogwarts.
It isn’t the castle that makes Hogwarts amazing. It’s everyone who has been here, for better or for worse. Because yes, there have been some bad people here, but there’s also been a lot of good people. Some of which I’m glad to say I’ve actually been able to know. To learn from, both professors and fellow students. My sister is right. We learn from making mistakes, but we also learn from everyone here. We learn from the stones around us, the castle ghosts, the portraits. Everything. I may regret not having accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish ever since first year, but I’ve still managed to accomplish a lot I didn’t expect.
I guess that’s what I want to say. Just because things may not go how you expect them to do, they’re going to work out in the end. That, and I don’t regret a moment of being here. Thank you Hogwarts.

Cole dragged his feet as he slowly made his way up to write in the memory book. He had looked on as Naya, Stella, Carys and Carys in turn had wrote their entries, from the Gryffindor table. He knew he had to do it, if he wanted to leave a mark before really leaving this school forever in the morning. Sighing to himself Cole still didn't know exactly what to write when he suddenly stood in front of the book. Gulping down hard, he flipped through some past entires smiling lovingly at Nayas words for him. Cole hoped that they could continue to be an item after school but he knew it wasn't going to be easy. After enough procrastinating Cole dipped the quill into the ink to write his passage.
SPOILER!!: Cole Vance, Gryffindor
To professors, students and whomever else reads this:
I shall not ramble long very. I will just say this. Without the friendships i've gained and cherished here over the years in my house and in other houses from Naya and Carsyn to Ashley I wouldn't have grown as much as a person, as i have because of them, or for that matter made it through all the craziness that is Hogwarts from the owls and newts to lastly getting my hands burned. Make friends, Hogwarts is a wonderful place for learning magical things, but it's more fun to learn in a group than alone (I should know i was a loner at the start).
Lastly I will never forget how Professor Noble had patience with my miserable potions skills that in the end turned into an E grade on my NEWT exam or Professor Sandhu for providing a listening ear whenever you needed some adult advice and a letter home wasn't enough..

Noah hadn't decided whether or not he should approach the Memory Book. Instead of writing something, he thumbed the pages of the book and read a couple of entries. He paused on Jillian's entry which brought a small smile to his lips. Do what makes you happy... MERLIN. He missed her. He missed their celebration of the fall harvest festival that they had done in the Great Hall. Should he write about that? Or should he write about all the great memories? He did have good memories of Hogwarts; however, the events of this year had turned them rather sour.
Honestly... He didn't know what he should say nor did he feel like writing much but he knew if he didn't write in it that he was going to regret it. But - once again - what should he say? What advice ought he recommend to those students younger than him? On top of that... Who was he to give advice after all they had been through this past year?
Tap, tap taptaptaptaptap taptap taaaap. tap taptaptaptaptap... taptapppptap, tap taptaptaptaptap taptap taaaaptaptaptaptap taptap taaaap. tap taptaptaptaptap... taptapppptap, tap taptaptaptaptap taptap taaaapaptaptaptap tapppp
He tapped the quill gently on the side of his page, ignoring the little drops of ink that resulted on the page, as he tried to think through what exactly to write.
SPOILER!!: Noah Nam
Hi. Noah Nam here. Class of 2104 no 2105... what year is it again..? 2104. Class of 2104.... Gryffindor. Woo..... trying to be optimistic here... but I don't feel like it...
This end of term feast honestly feels numbing. Maybe all of them did for seventh years but this one... i'd imagine it feels different. Other years... there were celebrations and hopes of summer but this year... This year feels like one incredibly long marathon filled of heartbreak, frustration, and ...... sadness. That being said.... The promises of summer are inspiring but we all know that they will be fleeting. Time... time is a funny thing after all.
And I know... I'm certainly not qualified to give advice and after this year.... I don't know what to write that would be comforting... Life isn't that way. Life is messy and complicated. People come in and out of our lives for various reasons. Things happen but the globe keeps turning...
And if I had a time turner, I would go back in time to relive the moments of my time here. The good moments. The awkward moments, the secretive smiles and laughs, the never-ending nights of nauseating levels of homework in the midst of OWLS and exams alike...
But I can't turn back the clock and reverse time - no matter how much I'd like too.... Life goes on. Nevermind wishing on a shooting star to reverse everything and take us back to what life was before. You have to move on and adapt, create new memories, and hold the friends and people you cherish the most closely before time runs out.... Or so that's what I'm going to try to do...
What I'm going to do going forward - go on a gap year with Minjae and Aboli. Recover and move forward. I'm going to sit NEWTs and continue on.... Life goes on but we take the memories and moments and move forward. One step after the other. I'm going to do everything that I can in life until I can't. Next stop NEWTS... and hopefully university. Future Healer in Training here.
Stay safe.
-N.Nam
With that, Noah set his writing instrument down and walked back to his table, feeling a little lighter than he had when he walked up.

Reason: Shan got confused on years
Aboli had spent some time ruminating on this exact moment. The memory book entry....she had witnessed in years past the former seventh years come to sign it, and she had often dreamed before this term of writing an inspiring speech of brilliance, of MAGIC.
But tonight, as she approached it, she had little idea how she could manage to be inspiring right now. She had written herself a notecard of notes to help her; bullet pointed and broken, scattered, much like her own brain at the moment. Taking the quill, she bit her lip and paused for a solid three LONG minutes before beginning to write. She hoped no one was in a hurry....because she would be here awhile.
She needed time. She kept pausing. She kept scratching out, rewording...this was...hard.
But in the end, her entry was as follows:
Quote:
Dear Hogartians,
To say that this place will change your life is an understatement. Indubitably, whether for the better or worse, it will. I'm sure anyone reading this knows this by now, so it goes without saying.
I guess this term has left me without many words to add. I am sad my final year was taken from me. I am sad my stress was more about survival than about my NEWTs, which I have opted to take at the traditional time instead of this summer. My badge was taken away, and an insane blood-ist lunatice took over the school. I'm sure it'll be in the history books.
My main words of advice: live your life like you're the main character in it, and the protagonist at that. Be the good guy. Yeah yeah - Aboli Song is not the nicest person all the time. But when the end seemed near, you still have to choose to be in the right. And that can be your own personal code - it could be loyalty to family or friends or perhaps you're more concerned with the laws of man, whatever. Just...be the protagonist of your life story. Don't let your past control you. Every day you've got the chance to be anew person, so take it. We've only got so long to walk the world, and if you don't plan on becoming a ghost like I do, make it count, lads and lasses.
I have too many friends I could mention, and I am too afraid to leave anyone out. Thank you Hogwarts for taking me in like one of your own so late in the adventure, but I'm sure as hell not glad to see you gone. Fellow students, appreciate your professors. We lost one, and she was someone I loved and admired. Don't be buttheads to your professors - their lives are kind of sad as is, being stuck at the school when they could be doing much better things with their lives.
Long long Slytherin, hiss.
Aboli Solomon Song

It was that time.
Claudine had seen many past students have their turn with this book and hers had finally came. She idly flipped through the pages, even the yellowed ones, noting some familiar names. To think... her name would be joining all of these past graduates. Seven years had gone by so quickly now that she thought of it.
There was a soft sigh from her as she began to write:
SPOILER!!: Claudine's Entry
Dear Hogwartians,
What can I say about my time here? It certainly has been an adventurous one from the moment I began my first year while the staff and students were housed at Beauxbatons. I certainly preferred my remaining six years at Hogwarts, however. There are certain events that occurred which I don’t wish to speak of as they have made a negative impact on me but there are a few persons that deserve a mention:
To Professors Trent and Fuller- Thompson: thank you for giving me a second chance and for not expelling me during my second year. I’ll be owling you for that letter of recommendation, Professor Fuller-Thompson.
To Professor Williamson: even though I knew you mainly allowed me to care for Hogwarts’ creatures because you wanted the help, I owe you a great deal for trusting me with them. Thank you for your patience and even for those times you sat there and watched me struggle to care for the creatures during my first few weeks. I’ll also be owling you for that letter of recommendation.
To Professor Schmoe: you have been one of the biggest influences of my life. Honestly, I hadn’t thought much of you at first but it’s funny how things turn out. You’ve made me a better person, a kinder person and a less judgemental one.
To Heathcliff Jones: you are the second and last person to have such a huge impact on my life. I adore you and I look forward to our future together.
To Bernadette Grantham: I hope some day that things work out for us. I no longer think you are a negative influence. I never worked up the courage to tell you that. I still love you as my best friend, Bernie.
To Ashley Fox: my little sister. Some day, you’ll do great things and I’ll be there at the sidelines cheering you on until you achieve them.
To the few handfuls of persons I called my friends - Cole Vance, Fiona Jenovick, Curtis Fuller, Aboli Song, Serena Anders, Violet Blackthorne, Avalon Sinclair, Minjae Yoon, Evan Nam, Lisa Nam, Maya Nam, Daniel Yoon: thank you for teaching me about friendship in your own ways.
So long, Hogwarts. It’s been a pleasure for the most part.

Phoebe Skylar James actually spent time perusing the Memory Book, flipping pas scrawled handwriting and the precise script of someone who owned too many quills. She read her mother's entry (bossy, brave) and her father's (emo, soft boi) and her Uncle Mo's (cheesy). Aunt Selina's (boss babe) and Aunt Dora's (x2) and all of TDK (nerds nerds nerds). She was ready to be gone with this place, except for tiny Kizzy, but it squeezed at a place she thought was closed off to remember that she was part of this place and its history now.
Whether she liked it or now.
SPOILER!!: Phoebe's does the thing
Dear Hogwarts,
You're a castle, but let's pretend you're a person. I entered my time here mad as hell at you, and I'm leaving the same way. There are some things about you that I like, and I'm going to force myself to remember you with fondness and to forgive you for what you did to me. In a couple of years, I may even be able to say that these are the best years of my life.
But Merlin, I really hope not. I hope that the world is huge and exciting and the adventures never end. I hope that there are fewer people who will falsely accuse me of crime, fewer who will hate me for my blood or my face or my incessant ability to annoy. I hope that my loved ones will be safe and comfortable and cared for outside these walls, because they weren't always any of those things inside them.
I'm leaving to make this world a better place, and I hope that one of the things that I can fix is you, Hogwarts, because you are broken and you broke my heart.
Sincerely,
Phoebe Skylar James
Gryffindor, Class of 2106
P.S. I know I'm supposed to tell my loved ones that I love them, but if they don't know, then I'm not loving them right. They know.
P.P.S. Kinsay, you're going to read this some day, because you are NOT a house elf, and I want you to know that I love you incessantly and that you are the most beautiful soul I've ever met (even including Teddy, who does NOT put his socks in the laundry). I am honored to be your sister and I'm sorry I left you. It's the only sorry I have for leaving.
Kale Trent was real pleased to be getting shot of this place, or he supposed he ought to be. After all, since the war, all he could think about was the day where he walked out these doors and never returned. And yet, in spite of all that, now that the day was here, Kale was a bit weepy, to be honest. His eyes were glistening as he waited to approach the memory book.
He didn't think he had much of value to add to the generation's old book, but even if he just signed his name, this part of his life was over. Odd how when you wish for something and it happens, you find maybe you didn't really wish it all that much to begin with...
Anyway. Kale was just gonna get this done and over with that way he could let the curtain of his hair down and cry behind it. Sounded like a solid plan to the ol' Gryffindor.
Picking up the quill, he started to scribble his last words at Hogwarts.
SPOILER!!: Kale writes something that barely makes sense
Important things I learned at Hogwarts:
Nepotism is kinda dope. But it also means your Dad is very much up in your business all the time. Which can be awesome unless you’re up to no good.
You should always fight fascists. Standing by and doing nothing only gives more power to bad people.
Conditioner is key to maintaining long hair. More boys should have long hair and so condition, fellas.
Make friends who are smarter, kinder and more beautiful than you. You can’t become better unless you surround yourself with people that make you rise to the occasion.
Fall in love. Even if it hurts, it’s worth it.
You show who you are every moment of every day. Try to be the kind of person you’d be proud of for every one of those moments, but if you fall short, be kind to yourself.
Life is super duper short. Stand on a table and sing. Learn how to juggle. Tell everybody you love how much you love them every chance you get.
To all the people I love, you know who you are.
And Dad, thanks for everything. I know I wasn’t always easy.
Okay. Time to go be hot somewhere else. It was something, Hogwarts.
