Here's the first part.
I like constructive criticism (just so you know )
Enjoy!
P.S. just so you know, this story takes place way before Harry's time. Around 1924 if you want to be specific. The petite, sixteen year old girl silently trudged down the cellar stairs. She yawned, and glanced at the barely working clock sitting on top of the table. 11:50.
Another long night. She thought to herself.
Her father and two brothers had already gone to bed two hours previously. They had left her alone in the kitchen to clean up the dinner things. After they had gone, the girl had snuck into the pantry and stolen some extra food, which she put into the pocket of her dirty apron. She wasn’t fed enough. She never was fed enough and her stomach always growled feebly.
She looked around the cellar that had to serve as her room. A bed stood in one corner, with a thread bare quilt strewn across it and a flat pillow slightly hanging off the edge. A lantern sat on the wooden table pushed against the wall. It served as the only light source for the room. The candle flickered. It was growing smaller and would probably last only an hour more. A square mirror was propped up against the wall. She briskly walked over to it and studied her figure.
Coralie was small for her age. She wore a too large faded green dress that made her look even smaller than she really was. She wore an apron on top of that. It was smudged with dirt and grease and was in need of a good wash.
I’ll get to that when I have time. She thought
Scowling, the girl tried to brush through her short brown curls with her fingers. It was matted and tangled and she only had a little comb, which was too small to completely brush through her hair.
After staring at her reflection for a minute, Coralie gingerly took her apron off and pulled the food out of her pockets.
She threw it in a heap on the table and stared at her hands. Burns, scraps, and scars were splattered over her forearms and palms. An owl had came while she was preparing dinner. It rapped on the window which made her jump, and she dropped three dishes.
Her father came into the kitchen, shouting as usual. He called her a filthy Squib and that she was no better than a house elf. Of course she didn’t care; he always said that. What frightened her was what he would do to her.
Coralie has been beaten, abused, and even starved.
“Thats a squibs life,” she muttered aloud.
Grabbing the food, she sat on her bed. It creaked ominously as she covered herself with the thin blanket. She tore apart the bread and ate, thinking. After a moment, she reached under her bed and pulled out a small journal. It was her mother’s.
“I wish you were here.” She grumbled, flipping open to the first picture.
It was just a picture of her mum. Coralie and her mother looked almost exactly alike. They both had the same shade of brown hair, and the same lively blue eyes. Or at least they were lively. Coralie’s eyes always looked dull and sad nowadays. She pulled a gold chain out from under the front of her dress and looked at her mother’s necklace. It was silver heart, a locket, that contained absolutely nothing.
Sighing, she returned the book to where it was and finished up her snack. Coralie stood up and walked over to the table. She blew out the candle, was plunged into pitch black, and felt her way back to her bed. Kicking off her boots, she laid down and fell asleep. Ok, so I will post soon, and leave your replies. |

| Matt Lanter/The Dark Side/Anakin Skywalker/ Underland/Hookah Smoking Caterpillar New post? Coralie anxiously waited outside the store. She looked around at the people who passed her, and at the books in the window. She could see back into the shop, where Jaxon was speaking with the owner. She craned her neck as the two exchanged some items, and Jaxon slipped something into his inside pocket of his jacket.
Coralie quickly looked away as the bells above the door made another tingling noise as the boy pushed open the door.
“What was that about?” She asked, casting him a suspicious look.
“Nothing.” He said simply in return. “So where do you want to eat?”
Dismissing the sudden change of subject, Coralie looked around at the other shops. Her eyes fell on the sign right next door.
“The Leaky Cauldron?”
The boy’s eyebrows furrowed. “You can see that?”
“What are you talking about?” She glanced back at Jaxon. “Of course I can see it. Why wouldn’t I be able to see it?”
Jaxon hesitated before saying,
“Muggles can’t see The Leaky Cauldron.”
“Well I’m not a muggle, I’m a Squib. It’s completely different.”
A smile flickered over his face. “So have you ever heard of it?” he asked.
“Yeah. My brother’s used to get their supplies from… erm…”
“Diagon Alley?”
“Yeah. And they mentioned it a lot.”
“That makes sense.” Jaxon said. He walked ahead and opened the door for her. “Just about everyone get’s their Hogwarts supplies here.”
Coralie glanced at the rickety sign once more before walking into the pub. Multiple heads turned their way as Jaxon followed closely behind and let the door shut with a ‘clang’. Coralie spotted a couple of wizards chatting in a corner. One of them had a bottle of firewhiskey in front of him, and his finger traced the lip slowly. Coralie looked quickly away before they made eye contact.
“Go on.” Jaxon whispered, pressing on her back a little. Coralie picked up on a trace of amusement in his voice.
He went and ordered them some food and drinks from the bar, and returned a few minutes later with a tray. They found an empty table and quietly began to eat.
“We can go look around Diagon Alley.” Jaxon suggested. “The school term started, so there shouldn’t be too many people around.”
“Okay.” She said.
Jaxon stopped eating and wiped his hands off on a napkin before picking up his butterbeer. After a minute Coralie realized that he was staring at her from over the glass.
“What?” She asked, color instantly rising to her cheeks.
He grinned. “You’re doing well.” He stated.
Coralie raised an eyebrow.
“With fitting in.” He continued. “Just a month ago you’ve never left the house, and now look where you are.” Jaxon put his hands behind his head and leaned back in the chair. His eyes swept over the pub as if to prove his point.
“I have you to thank for that.” Coralie murmured.
“You do.” He confirmed, a smug smile playing on his lips. I'm sorry, I've realized that I end these posts at the weirdest parts, but was that okay otherwise?

Hey Seneca. My heart skipped a beat when she read the sign over The Leaky Cauldron. Her explanation was so quick. I wonder if she's hiding something. Like maybe she isn't a Squib after all, and she's finding she can do magic. And all along she was a witch, but being beaten down and trod upon by her dad, and brothers just suppressed her magic till she thought she was a Squib. At any rate, this was a beautifully written chapter. Quote:

It's ok, about leaving off there, as long as you come right back. And otherwise, yes, it was wonderful!
Great work Seneca. I'll be watching for your next.

| Matt Lanter/The Dark Side/Anakin Skywalker/ Underland/Hookah Smoking Caterpillar I'm sorry this is so short, and that nothing happens much in it, but I guess it's something. “Hmm. Bookstore… bookstore… ice cream shop… owl emporium.” Jaxon’s eyes swept over the multitude of signs that flanked the buildings in Diagon Alley. “Wand shop. Nothing of much interest.” he said. He turned to look at Coralie, who was drinking everything in with a look of wonder. Or at least to me. He thought.
He looked around the street once more, which was indeed, as he predicted, mostly empty. He had spotted a few younger kids in Quality Quidditch Supplies, and some witches at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour, but apart from that, no one was really around.
They stopped in front of a tall white building with bronze doors. Coralie shielded her eyes with her arm as she looked up.
“And this is Gringotts.”
“The bank.” It wasn’t a question, but a statement.
“Yes.” Jaxon said, glancing sideways at her.
“My father talked about it.” Coralie supplied before Jaxon could ask. “He used to talk about the goblins that run it.”
By the look on her face, Jaxon could guess that that was not a good thing. Coralie self-consciously wrapped her arms around herself before taking her eyes off the monstrous building and looking around some more.
“There’s so many things here…” She breathed.
“We don’t have to look everywhere right now.” He said.
“I know.”
There was a moment’s silence. Jaxon decided to quickly fill it. “Have you had enough today? We can go back to the house if you want.”
Coralie’s eyes glanced over his face, then reverted to street around her. “Yeah.” She said at last.
Jaxon took her arm timidly, and spun on the spot, disapparating from the streets of Diagon Alley. Hmm. kinda boring, right?

| Matt Lanter/The Dark Side/Anakin Skywalker/ Underland/Hookah Smoking Caterpillar Thank you
New post?? Christmas was soon approaching, and along with it the first snowfall of the year. Coralie was sitting in a window seat, watching the snow pile up outside and completely ignoring the half read book on her lap. She was pulled out of her thoughts when there was a slight knock on the door.
“Is everything ok?” She asked, raising an eyebrow at Jaxon and Sage, who were smiling hugely.
“Everything’s just great, silly.” said Sage, entering the room. Coralie moved over so she could sit down next to her. Sage pulled out something red and white from behind her back and placed it on Coralie’s head.
“Erm…?” Coralie glanced questioningly over at Jaxon as he sat down on the edge of the bed. He chuckled in response.
“So,” said Sage, drawing Coralie’s attention back to her. “Every year, the Ministry has a Christmas party for just the employees and their families. Reyes sent a letter saying that the Minister announced that it will be this Saturday. Do you wanna go?”
“I don’t know… a party?” she asked slowly.
“Yeah. It’ll be so much fun. You can meet some more people and there will be dancing and eating and -”
Coralie glanced again over at Jaxon, and he just shrugged his shoulders.
“- Of course you’ll know Jaxon, he has to go since his father’s going. And Addy will be there. Honey, is your mother going?” She turned to her cousin-in-law.
“Yeah, probably.” he replied.
“Great.” Sage seemed to be imaging the scene in her head. After a second she asked. “So what do you think?”
“I’d love to go.” Coralie said quickly, forcing a smile.
“Yay!” Sage hugged her. “I’m going to go and tell Reyes that we’re going.” She jumped up and darted out of the room.
Jaxon chuckled again. “She missed last year’s.” he said, “So she’s pretty excited.”
“I can tell.” Coralie observed. She took the hat off her head and put it with her book next to her.
“I hope she’s not let down.” Said Jaxon, more to himself. “Those things can get pretty boring.”
“Christmas parties?”
“Well for me. I’ve gone to so many of them. And well I can’t dance, so I usually stand there and eat all the food they’ve got.”
Coralie laughed. “Do they have good food?” she asked.
“Yep.”
“Well thats a good thing.”
“Yeah, I guess.” he said. “I’m not that kind of person. The dress robe, dancing, fancy talk kind of person.”
“Neither am I.”
Coralie stood and tossed the book on top of the dresser. Jaxon picked up the hat she left behind pushed it down on his own head.
He sighed. “Sage might go a little crazy over the whole Christmas-partying-and-spending-time-with-family-thing, so I’m just warning you.” He smiled slightly. “I have to go, my parents are going out and I need to watch Addy. I guess I’ll see you Saturday.”
“Ok.”
“Keep an eye on Sage!” he called from the doorway.
Coralie heard a faint ‘what?’ from down the hallway. Jaxon grinned.
“See ya.” he said. How was that?

Hey Seneca, sorry I'm just now getting around to commenting. I've been in Ohio. I love these posts you put up while I was away. Coralie seems preoccupied. I hope she doesn't have Tom Riddle on her mind. He has a way of ruining everything. I want Coralie and Jaxon to fall in love. I love how close Sage has become to Coralie. I think they're good for each other. Quote:
