Whoever said the petting zoo was just for kids? At Diagon Alley's Summer Street Festival, the Magical Petting Zoo is for children of all ages- from 0 to 900. Behind the pastel gates of the petting zoo, adventurers can enjoy an array of different exposures to see the critter creatures of the magical world AND get the chance to feed some animals too...with Mum and Dad's permission, of course.
Upon entering the petting zoo, there is a flobberworm cage straight to the left where you can watch flobberworms make mucus all day long. For our slightly more adventurous critter lovers, there are several gated areas to watch and feed winged-horses, nifflers, porlocks, augureys and llamas.
To feed our creature friends, there are several machines located around the petting zoo filled with food for each specific creature at only a knut a piece!
Enjoy the creatures and pet a flobberworm. They're very hospitable.
OOC: Have fun interacting with the animals, and their keeper Rozanna Jupitus (Emzily)!

Theeeeere was the smirk she liked seeing. Her little pep talk worked, yeah? It looked like it. He just said he had this so even with him only barely inching toward the fence she had no real reason to not believe him. When you thought about it, even if he freaked out the chances of the unicorn freaking as well were also slim. He was fiiiiiiiiiiiiine.
She held her breath waiting for him to give himself the final push but just when he was close enough she saw the unicorn rear up on its hind legs.
Knowing fully well that the fence was enough she didn't flinch but her mind was now actively worrying about the boyfriend who'd only just gotten enough courage to step this close. Freya shook anything negative out of her head. He said he had this, the fence was in place. No overreactions.
They would wait for the unicorn to settle then try again. Nod.
His hand was almost to the fence. If he just stretched his fingers a little, he would be able to touch it. And then...he did. He touched the FENCE. Score one for Flores!
But then the unicorn did the thing...which made him freak out and...
EEEE EEEE EEEEEEEEEEEE!!
Flailing his arms in front of him, the young man jumped back and gripped his hand close to his chest. NOPE. Nooooot gunna happen. "IT ALMOST KILLED ME!" Did Freya SEE that?! Did she!? HIS POOR UNHURT HAND.

The unicorn flaring up didn't get her, Felix's reaction did.
O___O
...
......
"I..it didn't...no." Her brows furrowed first at the unicorn, who hadn't settled after seeing Felix's reaction, then at Felix. That wasn't meant to happen. This one was supposed to be nicer than the ones in the wild. The unicorn experience was over, wasn't it? "We...can go look at something else, maybe feed an abraxan, they don't have horns, you'll love them."
Or maybe they should have just left while they were behind and gotten the food then watched him hurt himself on a mechanical hippogriff. There was always that if he wasn't willing considering he nearly 'died'.

She obviously didn't see what he saw then. It definitely almost killed or maimed him. Felix scoffed and glared at the unicorn. He saw how it was. Pretend to be nice and then...BAM. They get you.
"Yea let's go see those." She was riiiggght. The winged horses didn't have horns AND didn't play mind tricks. Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, still eyeing the creature, he took a few steps to guide them towards the abraxans before he hesitated and paused mid step. "Wait, did you want to pet it?"

Kids. Who'd have 'em?
"HEY! HEY YOU, LITTLE MR!" Rozan yelled as she actually ran after the little thief. Looking like an utter fool as she did it. She slowed down along the way by the victims of the crimes, "So so sorry, I will have your things back right away!" She sure hoped so anyway.
Aaaaaaaaaaand... she was off again.
BUT WHERE DID HE GO?
HELP.... SOMEONE HELP........ is what she wanted to shout, but instead, she offered the guests warm smiles along the way. Because she had this TOTALLY under control... totally.
Mo wanted so MUCH to believe the nice lady, when she promised she'd get his camera back. But the fact that the kid was gone and the woman looked a little puzzled did not bode well. Still... he tried to smile confidently, even if it wobbled a little.
"It's a camera, actually. Small and black. If you get it back, will you owl it to me? 'Cause it's my favorite camera, actually." And he already felt bereft without it.

So she gave him a hug cause well... what else COULD she do?
"Can't we like... get an adult to do some magic to bring it back?" Like ACCIO CAMERA FROM EVIL CHILD? Or something in that manner? No?
Cat blinked at the woman who seemed sure she'd catch the kid and then promptly lost him. Well, that restored her faith in adults, yep.
Mo accepted the hug, dropping his chin down to rest on the top of Cat's head as he accepted the comfort being offered. Funny how much one could get from a simple hug, especially from a Cat.
"I hope she can get it back for us, 'cause otherwise we're gonna have to owl Vivi and see if she'll bring out her Auror friends and do it." And have no doubt, Mo was more than willing to employ a Vivi in the pursuit of his favorite camera. "I guess... we could try to follow?"

Even though he almost died. Oh the dramatics!
Petting the unicorn might not have been all that fun anyway, that's what she would tell herself. She would also tell herself that it's skin was riddled with diseases and Felix overreacting like that just saved her from possibly needing it to be cut off. You never knew that was going around these days. Freya shook her head at the exchange between him and the unicorn. By exchange, she meant him scoffing and the unicorn pretending he wasn't there.
She contented herself with the fact that his arm was now around her and was allowing herself to be led away but then they were stopping. His question had her eyebrows raising and her eyes widening a bit. "I did but seeing as he almost killed you, I didn't think you'd want to stick around." His face alone had told her that he would have gone through the floor if he could.
But she might as well had since they'd stopped. This time she didn't try pulling him with her. Imaginary contagious skin disease forgotten she reached over the fence and felt the creature. Soooo soft.
"Are you sure you don't want to try this? He's calmed down now."
Too soon?

He smirked broadly when she winked back at him. See, he didn't need the beard to elicits a response obviously, but he amused by the thought of what would happen when he grew one. There was something really dapper and he dared to say manly about a beard. Being that he was both, this would work. Perfectly.
As for the wandering here by accident, he shook his head. Had he wanted to end up here? Yeah, no. But he didn't do anything without purpose so if he was here then he was here. Yeah? So no, Lottie. Wrong.
And he could have replied to that comment, but he was just going to smirk. 'Cause, they didn't do the talking thing much, did they? 'Ceot one time. And that was all summed up by one word- mauve.
"The repair shop?" he clarified. Aka, his summer job. He had gotten a job assisting in a muggle repair shop, which was dirty and disgusting and manly. "It's good. I'm helping build a motorbike from scratch. And you?" The summer thing.
Theeeeeere was the smirk again. Excellent, she felt back at home. Mainly because she could keep on smirking and it'd be fine. Also, yes, he needs no beard, but shhhh, we heard nothing.
No? Not by accident? Of course, only Ascanius Stark would nothing by accident. Everything had a purpose or was meant to come out the way it had. Lottie just shrugged her shoulders and let her eyes wander...to the other people in here.
Funny how they didn't require speech to communicate, right? Hilarious. It was safer, at any rate.
Mmhmm. That. She'd gone into details with Aidan and probably failed to mention the most important part of it all. Repair shop. Nod. "Is it as complicated as it seems?" Granted, Lottie had no knowledge on this, but both Cassia and Lex (mostly Cassia), had mentioned how complicated the activity would be. Oh, that's right, she'd shared that information with them too. Guess Ascanius was being popular this summer.
Her? "Besides hanging out with friends...," different types of hanging out, every single one of them, "...I've gone shopping. Non-mauve this time. I made sure."Smirk. There were other color experts, A.

"Did Wenlock live in the 13th century?" AKA duh in arithmancy talk. It was tough at times being separated by the school term and each person's separate responsibilities. And usually it had been his job overseas that put distances in his relationships.
Wait... Aurora was planning on attending this festival? That elicited a frown from Josephina. Not that she didn't like Aurora or Allegra, but just, if they were there ... she wouldn't get to spend time with Addison. She would, but the time spent would be different. OH, then she smiled and flushed slightly when he said she was the only one he was expecting. "Well if you want to know the technicalities, I see plenty of badgers out here today." Supportive group they were, especially when it came to their school. Made her a proud momma.
"Good." She pecked him again and then squinted around into the crowds. "So what's the plan? Pet some animals? Ask some for their date of birth and play matchmaker based on their life path?" Just walk around the festival, hand-in-hand, drop some monies into the appropriate bin, and do nothing?

Addison saw the change to a frown playing accross Fina's face and lightly poked her in the side. No frowning...a street festival is to be a happy place. With smiles and laughter not frowns and grumpyness. "Semantics..." he said with a shake of his head and a bemused look. "Besides...only you, my dear Fina, would be able to identify them as such when they're not wearing uniforms." And they certainly wouldn't be doing that outside school. " You're the only one I would recognize as a Hufflepuff." Unless of course one of his sisters did indeed decide to random show up.
"The plan..." he mused following her gaze around them, to the crowds and the nearby animals. "The plan is to go where our feet and minds take us. Petting animals might be good, at least as a start to our visit. But some might think inquiring about their birthdays as being a little too personal with them." After that or even instead of the petting zoo, everything else was open for participation. Besides, it wasn't like he was aware of everything that this little fun spot included.
Raising his arm from his side, Addison offered it for her to take if she show chose. "How about you chose our first activity."

Fina giggled when he poked her side, hugging it with her elbow. "Ssshhhhh........" she poked her tongue out playfully. "But they .... they're just as much a Hufflepuff as I am. If not moreso." It was the truth, even if he tried to deny it. Just because she was his Hufflepuff, didn't make them any less of one. She was just their ringleader. Their mother-away-from-birth-mother.
She grinned up at him at that plan. That was a good plan. "My feet and mind say anything except ice cream." Because she was not trusting that again. Using her hand to push his arm down, she instead intertwined her fingers with his. "Fine then. Ladies choice says we pet the animals and give our regards, then we ride the mechanical hippogriff." Because this was supposed to be fun, yes?

As Ascanius kept up his dashing smirk, although any other positive describer would have befitted his smirk, he made note to look around the place he had been loitering. Being here was not without purpose he just was not sure exactly what that purpose was yet; of course, the game was to not let others know that. And he was quite skilled at that game. Always play it confident and cool.
Although, he did want to take the time to observe his surroundings because it was a very interesting round of them. There were mostly older people around here and very few faces he knew, but it was always fun to people watch. Human beings were fascinating creatures, especially when they didn't think they were being watched.
Anyway, he turned his steele grey eyes back to Lottie and continued on smirking. She got a cool shrug from him at her question, "S'not easy when you first are tinkering, yeah? But it gets easier." And he worked the grease like he was meant for it. Rugged and manly, that was what he wreaked of after work everyday, which was to be expected. The beard would only add to that.
Once he figured that beard thing out.
And then his smirk turned into a high definition smirk at the mention of her shopping. He was still going to attest to the fact that it was mauve, being that he had seen it, but she could say what she liked. It was interesting to him, though, that she was sharing such things with him. Hmm. New colours. He would ponder that.
Running his fingers through his hair and ruffling it a bit, he tagged on, "Oh? Did you, gorgeous? Positive it isn't mauve?" He knew the difference, see?
Cotton candy was almost like magic for muggles. Instantly melting in your mouth like that. And every time Schuyler ate it, she felt like she was a little kid again. She tore off a bit of the pink and a bit of the blue and placed them both in her mouth. Was it bad that she could not distinguish between the two? They tasted the same. Hmh. She would ask Olly. "Is the blue supposed to taste different from the pink?"
Olly's comment, the one about not spending money on things she didn't want, hadn't really registered in Ky's mind until a second or two later. Perhaps the pastel pink and blue had distracted her. But when the words did sink in, and her mind skipped to the mirrors they'd just bought, the corners of her mouth turned up. Her eyes moved up from the cotton candy to consider the other girl, and Schuyler thought she was much sweeter than she let on.
Schuyler found herself in front of the flobberworm cage with Olly, and she pushed her lips to the side as she examined the closest one. "Mostly gross, though.." She scrunched her nose up a little. Or at least the mucus grossed her out some. But she smiled then and shrugged. She still thought flobberworms were very nice creatures. Harmless, just rather sloooow.
But next were the nifflers! "Oh, they're so cute." With those tiny, long snouts. She swerved around the corner of the cage and got a little closer. She took her wallet from her bag and retrieved a knut. Maybe it would be shiny enough to catch the attention of one of them. And sure enough, a niffler snapped its head towards the coin and even began creeping towards it. "They sure like their bling," she grinned.
Olly had decided that she would eat the blue part of the cotton candy first because she didn't particularly like the look of the pink one. She was too engrossed in picking at the blue parts to pay any attention to what Schuyler was doing. Or how she was eating her cotton candy.
That is until she spoke up again. "Hmm?" Olly glanced up at her with a questioning look on her face and some pink cotton candy stuck on her nose. After a brief glance down at Schuyler's hands, she simply shrugged, meeting the other girl's gaze again. "I don't know. I don't think so. It's just the color that's different. They're made the same way." At least that's what she thought. It had definitely looked like that at the stand. "Does it taste differently?" Seeing as Schuyler had already tried both parts, clearly.
Olly luckily missed the way Schuyler was looking at her, or else she would have probably squirmed uncomfortably under her gaze. As it were though, she was too distracted by those flobberworms. "Yeah..." She agreed with Schuyler, drawing out the word, with her eyes still on the small animals and her nose slightly wrinkled. "Imagine that's the only thing you do all day." What a strange strange (and gross) life those creatures must live. Ew!
Moving on now.
Nifflers. Olly didn't reaaaaalllly appreciate those but they were okay. And Schuyler clearly liked them. So Olly just watched her for a moment, as she continued to pick at her blue cotton candy, before letting her eyes wander around their surroundings briefly. "Hey look!" She said, touching Schuyler's shoulder softly to get her attention. "You can feed them too." Because they had those food dispenser machines. Though there were already some people at the closest one so Olly wasn't exactly moving towards it or anything. Just pointing it out. Maybe they could get some. Together.
Running his fingers through his hair and ruffling it a bit, he tagged on, "Oh? Did you, gorgeous? Positive it isn't mauve?" He knew the difference, see?
See? See? He totally had to have a purpose, which he wasn't sharing. Thank Merlin, because she wasn't asking. But that smirk, and looking around...Lottie took this time to look at the animals for once. What was so special about llamas? She eyed them curiously as they stood there, doing nothing. Sort of like her and Ascanius right now.
Awful comparison, simply awful. Lottie frowned at that and looked at him. He was more interesting anyway. Nice to look at, too.
Hmmmm. Well, yes, maybe. She supposed that was right. Her first attempt at that patronus hadn't been what you'd call successful, but it got better the couple of times after that one. So, okay Ascanius, you're right. "I'd read about it, but I'm certain it'll get me nowhere. Experience works better." And she was talking from...wait for it...experience. Also, she was referring to the whole 'putting together a motorbike' thing.
Now that was a proper reason for a smirk, Stark. And she didn't mind sharing this bit. Only this. She was sharing nothing else. Though, Ascanius was like this friend girls have whom you could tell everything and it was harmless. He was like a girl himself. He probably wouldn't want to hear that. "I did. She giggled at his poke, almost like the Pillsbury dough boy of American fame, making Addison smile and want to d it again. When the tongue was aired, he was almost tempted to lean forward and bite at it for punishment for sticking it out at him. "I don't deny that," he assured her, not about to insult their pufferness, his badger radar just wasn't fully functional at the moment. If it even worked at all. Loyalty, the main trait often associated with the house could be had by all.
"Duly noted..." he said with a nod to show he understood. "No ice cream." And that was fine by him. Addison was sure there was plenty of other things to do and plenty of food items other then ice cream if they so desired nourishment of some kind without disappearing to the other locals of Diagon Alley.
He let her remove his arm from the equation, waiting instead for her decision and smiling as she took his hand in hers. "Very well, animals it is," he agreed, guiding them both closer towards the animal pens in amongst the students and adults that were around them as well, brought slightly up short by the first cage. "Well...other than flobberworms." Mucas-creating creatures weren't all that appeasingly interesting.
See? See? He totally had to have a purpose, which he wasn't sharing. Thank Merlin, because she wasn't asking. Usually when Ascanius started to smirk, which was all the time, he grew bored and his mind started to wander. And the constant state of his mind was wandering toward the beard issue. The fifth year was trying to contemplate all the different types of rugged, manly hair. Being the man that he was and such, he would be able to grow one fast when he decided on it...whatever IT was, but he needed to figure this out.
The people who didn't pre-plan such changes just looked stupid. And he wasn't in the business of letting that happen. Smirk.
Raising his eyebrow, he crossed his arms casually over his chest and questioned, "You're interested in mechanics, yeah?" S'was pretty straightforward once you knew where everything was supposed to be and how it worked. And he was actually really enjoying building that motorbike. Manly!inner!nod.
Yeah, so why was she sharing this with him? Not that he MINDED. He was a bloke. And he wouldn't complain, but yeah, strange that she would share. Then again...

What a strange strange (and gross) life those creatures must live.
Together.
When Schuyler looked to Olly for her input about cotton candy, she happened to see a bit of it on her friend's nose. Without really thinking, Schuyler took the piece and popped it in her mouth. This girl was not wasteful. But, about the taste.. "No. It doesn't." But usually she associated blue candies with blueberry tastes. Hence, when the blue cotton candy dissolved on her tongue, her taste buds were thrown off. Kind of like when you picked up a box or opened a door, expecting it to be heavy, but found it to be super light instead.
Schuyler blinked at the flobberworm before her as she imagined how boring their lives were. "At least they're blissfully unaware of any troubles," to think on the bright side. Although Ky would much rather take some hardships and heartbreaks over a life of nothing but eating and generating mucus!
The niffler was still eying up Schuyler's coin with its beady little eyes. But when her own attention was diverted to Olly's discovery, the little creature somehow managed to snag the knut right from her hand. Ugh! "Thief!" she accused, though she chuckled anyway, not caring about the stolen coin. Instead she turned to get a better look at the food dispenser and the other people who were inserting coins and receiving the animal food in return. "Let's go get some." And she was already walking in the general direction of where, hopefully, the next one might be.
She was in no rush, so her feet led her forward beside Olly in a leisurely manner. "Do you have any brothers or sisters, Olly?" Because really, she didn't know all that much about the girl, apart from that she would be new to Hogwarts as well this year. And that she owned the match to Schuyler's two-way mirror.
"Interesting," cue mega huge smirk.
We're going to stop. With the colors and everything. It's a must that will stop. As soon as possible. Perhaps. Because that could get weird, and Ascanius would be thought of like a girl. We don't really want that, do we? Meanwhile, she was not going to discuss mechanics with you, Ascanius.
Probably. Mainly because she knows nothing of it.
For now she simply shrugged. "Not exactly. Yet I still think it's very cool." True. She had mentioned impressive, but that was when referring to Ascanius not mechanics. Lottie supposed the mechanisms themselves could be impressive, too, but now she was just rambling. How very Hufflepuff of her.
THAT is why they were not to discuss colors anymore. Though she was still smirking, Lottie rolled her eyes at that word. Boys. "Definitely not interesting." Seriously not.
Ariel made her way over to the petting zoo not long after stopping by the donation table. Ordinarily, she wouldn't have been so thrilled about a bunch of magical creatures on display. And while there was nothing particularly grand here, she was very excited to be out and about on her own, and even more so since there was a festival going on.
The girl made her way through the stalls, glancing quickly over each one before... THERE. One had caught her eye. Grinning, she slipped around the crowd of people over to the displays of winged-horses.
Oh, weren't they beautiful?
And just far enough away too. As a child, she hadn't liked horses much. She thought they were big and menacing looking things, and they tended to attract flies. Not to mention that the one time her mother tried to take her horseback riding the horse bucked her off its back and threw her to the ground, breaking her right arm in the process. But as she got older, she found that she did like to watch them from afar. And then the wings added a certain amount of desirability as well... most likely because they reminded her of butterflies. Though butterfly wings were much more beautiful and incredibly delicate. Still...
Ariel gave a sigh as she watched over the gate. They were nice, but she wouldn't care to get any closer than this.
Animals. Stan liked animals. And the petting zoo kind of made his trip to the fesitival not a complete waste of time. Although the place was a little too crowded for his liking..
He wandered about for a while, admiring the various magical creatures on display before he spotted the winged-horses. Oh..wow. They looked so magestic. He stood near the gate and stared at them in awe. "They're beautiful, aren't they?" He remarked softly to the girl standing next to him.

... And, look. They could feed the creatures too!
WHAT.
Ariel jumped a little at the sound of another voice. Where had he come from? UGH, what on Earth made him think it was okay to-- oh, wait, okay he was cute, she forgave him. Still, sneaking up on people wasn't nice.
"Oh, yeah. I guess so."
She did quite like them. Though this guy better not be getting any funny ideas. Ariel was perfectly content staying just where she was, and not getting any closer.

"You GUESS so? C'mon, just look at them."
Yeah.. Stan probably didn't understand the fact that not everyone liked animals as much as he did. He continued to stare at the horses for sometime before he suddenly turned to look at the girl beside him, with a grin on his face. What? He liked smiling at pretty girls, okay? And he knew his smile was attractive. HE was attractive. Heh.
Anyway. That was beside the point.
"Do you like animals?" .... Raaaandom question. Well, not THAT random.

Ariel shrugged. "Yes, that's what I said. I just don't like 'orses very much." Or most animals in general, actually. Though her family did have two dogs, and she liked them quite a lot.
"Some of them. I was kicked off a 'orse when I was little though. I don't care to get near zem." She took it he did though. He looked absolutely fascinated by them, judging by his grin. She didn't understand; horses smell.

So she wasn't into mechanics, yeah? Eh, that was fine he supposed. Very few people he met at Hogwarts even KNEW what mechanics was as a form, so at least she knew that. Some of the people he went to school with at that dishrag really needed to get their noses out of...well, they needed to get out.
Shoving his hands in his pockets, he smirked, "S'alright. Not exactly common in these parts." Meaning the wizarding world. They were all super reliant on magic and as far as he could tell none of them ever used tools. Not that he had seen. Magic handled that.
What he liked about doing stuff himself though, besides the fact that he looked simply AWESOME doing it, was that it was his, yeah? Smirk. When he was done with hard labour it had been WHOLLY his. S'cool stuff.
And as much as he liked discussing colours with her, almost as much as his first exposure to them,, Ascanius wasn't sure why they were talking about this now. If Lottie was cool with it...okay, but his attractive face could only smirk this widely for so long. And wrong. TOTALLY interesting. What? He was a boy.

She liked him thoughl Llamas were totally her favorite animal now.
Aww. They couldn't ride them. Oh that was kind sad. But at least they wouldn't fall off in that chance. "Too bad..." She murmured with a little frown before smiling at her boyfriend again. "Oooh...that would be cool."
Llamas were soo soft, Wade noted while petting. "They really are.." He agreed with Indy as she pet them as well. So, now they were left to feed them. Cool, Wade beamed back at Indy. Wade then removed his hand from petting the nearest llama to get his bag of change out. Hmm.. 1 Knut for feeding them? That really was a deal.
"Here, you are." Wade took out two Knuts for the older lady to take, since he wanted to feed them as well. So they did get the feeding bag now or- Ooh, look at that. The Llama was staring at him still. Heh. Wade gave it a little wave.. he was so getting one whenever he could later on, after the hippogriff, of course.

o____O
She didn't like horses? How could anyone NOT like horses!? Stan tried not to look too upset. But then again, she was kicked off a horse so he could kiiind of understand why she didn't like them. But, still. The boy wasn't happy to hear that.
"Weeeell. I'm going to feed the horses now.. why don't you join me?" It would be funnn and the girl could see how AMAZING they are and hopefully start to like them again.
... Oh, right. Introductions. Stan grinned again and extended a hand. "It's lovely to meet you, Ariel. I'm Stan Hastings

See, but this was a problem, Ascanius. Muggle Studies could probably be a bit more interesting if they were to discuss this topic a bit more. Of course, Lottie didn't take Muggle Studies... did they talk about Muggle transportation there? LOL. She had no idea, it would be nice to check this bit of information before making an assumption, yeah?
Maybe, maybe not. Lex would've told her about it, yeah? Did Lex take Muggle Studies?
Anyway... no one really tells you how things actually work. Except Dylan when he taught them the patronus charm. But now Dylan was gone, and technically, it was best not to rely on others... but still. "Should be a little more common. We do go to school via train." So, they share that.
Ah, trains. Scabior. Merlin, she missed Scabior, even if she never listened to a word he said. She was suddenly wondering where the man was.
We still say it is NOT interesting and needs to stop. Not sorry for bringing it up, though.

Ariel grinned and shook his hand. "It is very nice to meet you as well, Stan." She'd had plenty of people tell her it was 'lovely to meet her' before, but Stan appeared to actually mean it. That was a pleasant change.
OH HECK NO.
Ariel's faced paled at the request. Nonononononononono. No, that was okay. She was going to stay right where she was. A wave of terror crashed over her as she tried to regain her composure.
The girl shook her head politely. "No thank you. I'll watch you from over here," she declared.
