Charles Hollingberry EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Charles Hollingberry [IC March 2097 - present; OOC November 2018 - present]
Right as you exit the areas set aside for the main buffet, the juice bar, and the dessert bar, you'll come into a section filled with enough tables and chairs to accommodate the large number of employees working at the Ministry of Magic. There's really nothing special here. The tables and chairs are typical of those you'd find in any other cafeteria, with the exception of the multi-colored theme that seems fairly evident throughout the food court. So grab a chair; a red one, blue one, yellow one...whichever you'd like! Enjoy your meal, and please--come again!

He was a bit grubby and tired and wouldn’t have minded a shower because he was sure he smelled a little like pickled slugs and octopus powder of which he had been using in spades for this potion. A short nap would have been nice too, considering he’d been awake for close to 30 hours. It would also have given him the opportunity to show off his cooking skills. Only Zita sounded like her mind was made up. So breakfast it was. If things went well, he could cook for her some other time.
He shoved his hands into the pockets of his dress pants and simply replied, ”As you visch.”After all, it wasn’t like he had anything or anyone he had to be home for. His father wouldn’t be contacting him until next week and his plants would be fine seeing as he had watered them a few days prior. Besides, it was a good thing that she still wanted to spend time with him, right? He was so used to people leaving him the moment things got hard. It was one of the reasons it took him a while to open up to people.
If everything had gone well with the potion, he should be able to bottle it up, hand it off to his boss and be on his way in about an hour. If things went wrong, well he’d deal with that if the potion hadn’t brewed properly. He shifted from one foot to the other as he contemplated whether or not he should say goodbye and then before he could think about it too much, he bent down. With one hand resting on the table for balance and to help him judge distance and space, he leaned down kissed her on the cheek before he walked off.
~~*~~
The potion had brewed perfectly, so roughly an hour later, as he walked back to the seating area Adam was tryng to decide whether or not Zita would still be waiting for him. He wasn’t quite sure what he would do if she wasn’t. Part of him was convinced she’d probably become impatient and had left. It’s what people did to him; they left, just when he got his hopes up. Still, the optimist in him was convinced she’d have waited because she had been the one to order him to come back.
”Sita?” he called out as he walked into the general area where they had been arguing. He didn’t want to venture too far into the chairs and tables afraid he’d tumble over one that hadn’t been pushed under a table. His head was starting to hurt which was a sure sign that his eyes were getting tired. He knew he was pushing the boundaries of overworking them and resolved to take his glasses off once they get to wherever they went for breakfast.
She could feel her life spiraling again and for a moment she wasn't sure if Adam would take her in charge attitude, but he did and she couldn't help the playful smirk that hit her lips. She had missed this confidence her, she had missed how she was before her first breakthrough of being completely boring, but there were things that she missed about the normal ways. School and Adam, then James came back into the picture, damn James.
She nodded as Adam left and sat in silence sipping her coffee until he returned. When she heard his name she turned and headed towards him, guilt set in for the way she was acting, even though he took forever to tell her how he felt his kiss was still lingering on her lips. She was going to have to tell him the truth of why she was there, what had been going on, but now she was going to get something to eat and figure out what to do after she wasn't feeling hungry anymore.
Working in the ministry as long as he did Bryson didn't see enough of it, after all working in the creatures department he didn't see much of anything else. Although that was going to change, walking towards the seating area he looked around, he normally ate in the break room or the Pets cafe, but he wanted a bit of change in the environment.
Finding a empty chair, with his cheeseburger and fries with his chocolate shake he sat down eating. It was a bit packed and noisy but hey it was different and he liked different. He knew one thing for sure, he needed to stop being a workaholic and get out more, it was no why he was single according to his parents. Taking a sip of his chocolate shake, he looked around the area before settling on the book he brought with him. Oh.... Jeez he's such a Ravenclaw at times.

Fletcher had a strict policy against eating food court food at the Ministry, a policy which he felt was especially justified now that the stupid owls were taking over the place. Who was to say they hadn't already left doodoo in the kitchens here?! Usually he went out, bought something, and brought it back, but now he didn't even want to eat takeout in the food court. If his favourite sushi place wasn't just grab and go only, he would have stayed there and devoured his lunch.
But as it was, he sighed, dodged piles of owl crap on the floor, and made his way to the nearest, cleanest table. The place was packed today, ugh. Never mind that someone was already sitting at this table; Fletcher was too hangry to care. He plopped his bag of sushi down on the table across from the guy, settled himself into the chair opposite him, whipped out his chopsticks, and tucked into his first roll without further ado.
Dude was reading, anyway. He probably wouldn't even notice that Fletcher had just appeared there.

Ugh.... why did he have to come down here, this place was almost worse as in his department was, although there wasn't anywhere that was safe from this owl poop. Luckily he found a table that wasn't covered in this mess, maybe it would've been better if he ate outside or so, but was even outside safe anymore? He didn't even know anymore, he wondered what was making them do this, it was quite weird to him. He worked with creatures and he have never seen this before, it was something new to him that was for sure.
Feeling someone flop in the chair across from him, he looked over his book slightly and raised his eyebrows before turning back to his book. The guy seem like he was starving and what appeared to be hangry, he knew better to bother andyone when they were like that, he was that way at times as well. Although he hated the guy cause of what he was eating, he couldn't eat any seafood without his theoat becoming like a blow fish. Although he didn't like fish but shrimp and stuff was good, but it didn't agree with him. Looking around he looked at the mash potatoes and wrinkled his nose, he was glad he didn't get them.
" Oh for heavens stakes not the food that we eat guys!" he cried shaking his head clearly referring to the owls. When will this madness end?

At the exclamation from his table companion, Fletcher hurriedly threw two of his long hands over his food, as though to cover it from incoming poop bombs. He didn't see any immediately heading their way, though, so he cautiously plucked another bite of sushi up with his chopsticks.
"You'd think we'd have this figured out by now, huh," Fletcher remarked between bites, looking up and around them cautiously. "I've taken to traveling with an umbrella indoors. Not to mention the lifts not working properly. Seems like the place is falling apart."
And what a hassle it all was. He'd never seen such chaos at the workplace. The Ministry did not run as smoothly as even Gringotts, and Fletcher was not impressed by it currently. "D'you think the owls are breeding?" Because was it just him, or were they getting worse like... overnight?

Don't get him wrong, he loved owls but this was getting out of hand, he didn't know what was making them act like this, but it was getting annoying. He was getting tired of having to be careful of where he sat or where he ate, he now decided he was going to grab something from home or so and not eat here until this madness is over. He didn't see it ending anytime soon, at least not for now anyways oh... joy of working for the ministry isn't it fun? You never know what you were going to encounter or when, it was all a surprise.
"You would of thought so, but doesn't look like that is happening anytime soon." Looking around cautiously as well, he didn't want any on him or in this food for that matter seeing it in the mash potatoes was enough for him for the day. "Same here, and the lifts aren't working, oh Merlin what's next?" he asked sighing.
Seem like every department had their hands filled with this madness, not just his department. He shrugged. "Maybe... but never thought they would leave poop every where. " Okay... was it just him, or more and more things going more wrong then right?

No, no it didn't. Fletcher sighed between bites, still feeling very protective of his food even as he nearly finished it.
"I almost got stuck on a lift the other week," Fletcher agreed. He still wanted to have WORDS with those Accidents & Catastrophes people. They seemed like the department most apt to fix this. Speaking of departments and people and poo everywhere... Fletcher glanced at the guy across from him. "What department are you in?" Maybe he'd be a useful ally to have in all this MESS.

Sighing he didn't know how much more worse it could get, but had a feeling it was going to get worse before it gotten any better. Glad he finished his food and his drink had a lid on it, he didn't want another invasion of owl poop.
"Dang mate sorry about that,I heard about it being down, didn't know people gotten stuck in it." Probably seems like the best department to talked to, mayne they were able to fix this madness on the lift. Although his department was trying to figure out the weird owl behavior seems like they all had their hands filled. " I'm in Magical Creatures, I'm a beast protection Officer, what about you?" He asked taking a drink.

"Yeah, what's next, the floo fireplaces going down?" Fletcher chuckled darkly, absolutely certain that wouldn't happen next. Surely they had to have a solution for this soon, hmm?
He wiped his mouth on his napkin and tossed it into his sushi box, closing the plastic up without further ado. All done here. So, he was talking to a creatures man, hmm? "Minister's office," Fletcher answered with a small smile. "I'm Fletcher, the junior undersecretary." And even though there was a chance the other man had owl poo on him, he stuck out his hand for a proper handshake. Nice to meet the creatures dude and all that.

It wasn't often that January found herself in the seating area of the food court. Typically she ate her lunch in her office, but today she needed to speak with someone and had made an appointment of sorts to speak with that said person in this location.
With a fresh cup of tea, January sat at a table towards the edge of the cluster of tables. Her eyes scanned the room, the people that occupied the room and all of the exiting points - merely out of habit at this point. And there she sat, quiet and stoic, waiting for her friend colleague to arrive.

Having spent a longer time in the Love Chamber today than usual, the scent of the room a torturous reminder of what was not his, he made his way to the food court with his hand tucked neatly into the pocket of his trousers and a small package to deliver to her. His thumb traced around the rounded edge of the item inside his pocket and along the smooth center while he took the time to perform a few cursory calculations in his head before his eyes fell upon her. Allowing himself a moment to smirk before the gesture was wiped from his features, Airey approached the senior undersecretary and slid into the seat opposite her. "I hope this seat's not taken," he mused coolly while passing her the small package he had carried with him.
It was as though the scent of Amorentia had followed him all the way from Level 9 to this very table, but with a sharp turn of the head to crack his neck and roll his shoulders he was able to allow the moment to pass.
"Have you had the time to inspect level 4 yet? I have an urgent need to file a request of their greenhouses and I am wondering just how compensating said request will be received."

Her eyes found her friend as soon as he entered the food court. He had the package, but his face... his expression looked a certain way that seemed familiar. She had known him long enough to understand what it meant and she almost rolled her eyes, but she kept her own expression flat, until he approached her with a familiar question - one that obviously did not need answering. She smirked slightly as she slid the package over to her side of the table.
As for level four... "Yes, they've been cleared. You shouldn't have any questions about your request." And if he did... she would deal with them. January lifted her tea cup, looking over the rim of it at... Airey briefly. "Let me know if you run into any trouble... my dear friend." Dear friend. That expression she saw a moment ago made her feel the need to remind him.

Blue eyes darting around briefly, he purposefully brushed his fingers against hers during their exchange and that was as much as he would allow himself in this setting and pointedly ignored the manner in which she had rolled her eyes. He knew. He knew. And he wondered if she had had any contact with him regarding the next step.
"Stellar," he nodded as he straightened and reluctantly tightened the tie around his neck, all for the benefit of any on-lookers. "I'll do a bit of grocery shopping. I have no concerns on that front...though the Chamber of Codes is proving to be a bit more of a challenge." Which he owed another visit too soon. "Assure him the next time you correspond that I will find it."
Her emphasis stung and he found it entirely unnecessary, though he let none of it show on his face. It mattered very little in the end and did not change what he would and would not do.
"Any news about our future outing?"

Fletcher's brown eyes were always on the lookout for any incoming owl pellets, and whilst he waited for Creature guy to shake his hand, he noticed a different sort of incoming nonsense....
January Bones was sitting down to lunch with Airey Flamsteed??????????? What was with this guy? Fletcher had only had a few interactions with the Mysteries man and it was safe to say that Airey wasn't his favorite department head. He was obnoxious, he was brusque, and he was a know-it-all who didn't ever allow visitors to his department. And this was based entirely on Fletcher's one attempt to sneak in there with Jonathan Kim. Rude. January, however, was a perfectly pleasant person to work for. She was practically Flamsteed's opposite in every way.
So it was weird, very weird to see them both here, looking rather conspiratorial and chummy, nearly holding hands like this. If Fletcher didn't know better, he might even say the look in Flamsteed's eyes was one of longing for Mrs. Bones....
Gross. He had to look away, so he did, over to the Beast protection officer across from him. Good thing he'd already finished his lunch because he definitely didn't have an appetite now. Flamsteed was weird and this meeting was gross and Fletcher was going to pretend he hadn't noticed this at all, mostly for January's sake (bless her heart). Fletcher understood what it was like to have people fawning over you. This wasn't January's fault. Poor dear. It was just a curse to be good-looking but already taken. He understood ENTIRELY.

She was ignoring the contact that his hand made with hers. She felt bad for being so abrupt with her last comment, but they had a mission to focus on here and she didn't want him to get distracted. They couldn't afford for anyone to get distracted.
January almost laughed at his use of the man's common catchphrase. She took the package from the table and set it on the seat, close beside so as not to risk losing it or having it fall. The contents, after all, were fragile. And they couldn't afford to lose them. Her eyes scanned the court again as Airey talked, landing on her colleague and friend, who she was fairly certain had been watching them. Before she could consider it much longer, though, a dull pain found its way to the woman's head, as if on queue. January closed her eyes for a moment and pressed her index finger between her brow, letting the familiar presence into her mind to receive the message.
"The three pawns are in place," she said, her eyes still closed. "Tomorrow the knight strikes."

Valentin was balancing a large tray full of food and of course, a cappuccino. Despite Elian's belief that Valentin didn't eat, he did. Lunch was were the man ate most of his calories. Still, his tray was loaded with rather healthy options. A cup of tomato soup, a large salad with fruits and grilled chicken and cheese. A slice of bread and a brownie. He had paid for both men's lunches and now led the way to a table near the back of the room. He didn't like to sit where someone could sneak up one him. Also, a table in the back was likely to give the two men a little more privacy.

Elian had tried to argue with Vale about paying for his lunch, but had quickly realized it was pointless to fight him on it. It just still took some getting used to, having someone do nice things like that for him. He had been thrilled to see that Vale was going to have more than a cappuccino this time. He’d even gotten dessert! Elian, on the other hand, had gone with a small salad with grilled chicken, no dressing, and a cup of potato and leek soup, the creamy soup being a bit of a binge for him. He had also grabbed an apple, though he might save that for later...
He followed Vale to a table near the back, and he had to smile a bit because it was the table that he would have also chosen. With one side of the table pressed against the wall, it made it easier to keep an eye on what was going on around him. He set his tray down and took a seat across from Vale, still looking like someone had just told him he’d won the lottery or something. Once Vale was settled, Elian of course broke the silence first. ”Everything was alright then back... back at your ministry?” he asked, careful to avoid the use of the word home as he didn’t want to assume where Vale considered home to be these days.

Valentin secretly hated cafeterias. Sure they were efficient when feeding as many people as the British Ministry did, but perhaps that was the problem. Efficient was just...fine. Valentin liked things a bit - well more. It was rare you would find him eating here which showed how much he was willing to spend time with Elian. Because surely the man had things he needed to get back to in a timely manner too. "Eet was alright," he said in a tone that implied they could talk about it later if Elian wanted to bring it back up.
"And your meeting?" he asked, mixing his salad around with his fork. He was happy to see that Elian himself had chosen a salad, not that he would have judged the man for eating something more...robust. "Greesh seemed to enjoy spendeng time wiv you. Thank you fair zat." The little house elf had been the happiest he's seen him in a long time. Usually he was a bit mopey while Valentin was back in Paris.

Elian nodded his understanding that Vale wasn’t in the mood to talk about his trip to Paris, but then he asked about Elian’s meeting, and Elian just took a bite of soup as he thought for a moment of how to respond. ”Well, it was a bit dramatic to be honest, but it definitely could have gone worse for me. I’m benched for a bit and had to buy the entire department lunch for two weeks. Oh, and I have a new boss. They transferred Robert. So I got in trouble with Robert, with the new boss, and then THEIR boss showed up and yelled at me as well,” he explained. He speared a bite of chicken and some lettuce onto his fork. ”Like I said... drama.”
He continued eating while Vale thanked him for letting Greesh come for a visit, but once he had swallowed, he smiled. ”Of course! He’s welcome anytime. It was nice to have him around. I guess with everything that went on, I didn’t realize how... different it would be being alone. Maybe I should get a cat or something...” he thought out loud. Of course, he would love to have a dog, but his work was too unpredictable for that. Dogs needed consistency.

It's the way you're smiling at me. It's in the way you hold my hand.
It's the way I've watched you change me from a boy into a man.
It's a million things about you, and I don't know what it is. I have never known a love like this.
Jessica, at the same time they met every day, had been really feeling the food court lately to enjoy their lunch time in. The park had been fine until the weather decided to change at random, and they switched it up a lot. But for the last week she had wanted to eat in here. There often other ministry employees enjoying their breaks in here, and the food court sometimes had good food. Jessica always packed her own lunch because she ate a pretty healthy diet, but she never knew when she'd strike up the fancy to buy something here.
At their usual table, Jessica sat down, waiting for David to unpack her lunch bag. She patiently people!watched as she did, her legs crossed and her hands folded in her lap.
She couldn't help but think there was a strange air around the Ministry lately. Did people seem more nervous than usual? She couldn't tell exactly. Her department was fairly busy with all of the odd happenings across the GLOBE it felt like. Lots of ambassadors abroad debating coming back, and vice-versa with any foreign ambassadors here in England. She hadn't been back to the Philippines since before summer to see her parents because her job had been just that demanding. It was lucky she had David to spend time with...for even Bryant had been busy lately with his own life.

David had his clear little bento lunch box in one hand and a medium-sized taupe pot in the other, the plant half-nestled against his chest as he approached Jessica and their usual lunch table.
"Hello," he greeted her with a nod, leaning in to settle the plant (and its saucer) on the table first. He thought about greeting her with a peck on the cheek or something similar, but his face immediately reddened just at the internal suggestion of such a public display of affection (even if it was a common greeting there in Europe and all that). He just couldn't bring himself to do it. Not yet, anyway.
So he sat down instead, clicking open his lunchbox, and offering her a small smile. "The plant is for you." Did she know what it was? Could she tell?! He was overjoyed by it; it was growing SO well. And it smelled wonderful. But he'd... try to settle himself for the moment.
Naturally, his face betrayed none of this excitement. Just a small smile as he fluffed a napkin and laid it on his lap.

Jessica would not have balked at the peck, but she knew David and how he was at this point. It didn't bother her to receive less when it came to physically affection from him.
"Hey there, Mr. Truebridge," she said, smirking at him devilishly before opening the top of her lunch bag. The plant had her cocking an eyebrow curiously, but that was not for long; it was for her?! "Oh David...it's gorgeous. It smells - " wait.
It smelled familiar because it was familiar. The white blossom...
"David." Did she look angry? No no! Not angry! More... "I hope you did not go through too much effort to get this for me!" she pulled the pot closer to her and closed her eyes to take in the scent. "This is absolutely lovely, David...I..." she glanced around, then leaned right across the table to kiss him politely on the lips. As Jessica sat back down, she was biting her lip in glee. "I appreciate it. and you. Thank you. This means a lot." She didn't know what else to say, but her heart was pounding so hard she wouldn't have been surprised if David had inquired about it. Her skin felt all...weird. Tingly. When was the last time she had felt this fondly for someone she was attracted to?
But two could play at the not showing too much of their emotions game. Jessica was delighted, but all she did was smile coyly as she pulled her salad from her bag.
Arabian Jasmine, though.

Gorgeous, please. The only gorgeous thing at this table was Jessica; but then, surely she knew that?
David had to be reminded sometimes of how other people thought. Her reaction had him actually raise his eyebrows for a moment, then turn red, much redder, at the little kiss. He briefly touched one finger to his lips as though checking that they were still there, and then he smiled genuinely, his blue eyes even lighting up with a bit of pure joy. She liked it. She did! She knew what it was then! That was what the kiss was for. He'd figured it out. He'd done it. Well done, Truebridge!
He put his head down and smiled into his lunchbox, starting to remove his sandwich before he remembered what he was SUPPOSED to say about the plant. Hastily, he looked up.
"I thought... I should... uhhhh, get something for my...friend...girl..... lady..." No, nope. He had not, in fact, rehearsed this enough. "...my girlfriend, if you accept, that is, if you'll be my.....girlfriend....?"
Er? Did he ask a coherent thought? He looked so nervous, probably, though his eyes were still shiny with the bit of joy that had come from giving her this plant.

Did David know all of his mannerisms were adorable? Jessica wasn't sure he even realized he was doing the things he was doing. His red face, his fingers on his lips...it all made her want to smirk. But she merely mixed her salad up with some dressing with her fork and winked at him.
Oh.
Oh oh oh oh.
He was...asking her to...be official....and the thought of it happening here, in the food court of the Ministry of Magic where they both worked, made her laugh. Not that she thought it was a bad decision! It wasn't. This was, after all, how they had managed to get so close. It was just such a David Truebridge thing to do. And Jessica couldn't stifle the chuckle into her hands. "Of course, David," she said simply, shaking her head at his stuttering and eating a bite of her salad. She crunched to herself, watching him with amusement. "You got yourself all worked up, didn't you." The sly way her lips spoke the words meant she was amused by the effect she had had on him as well as enjoying just how adorable his behavior was. As intellectual as David was, bless him, he still got nervous about things like this. Things involved with ~romance.
"Let me repeat. Of course. And your gift has me quite smitten, good sir," she patted the pot gently before taking another forkful of salad lettuce. "To celebrate, you should come by after we get off today. My brother won't be home again." David should take that for what it was.
