Evaline looked at the girl who spoke up, and it wasn't the girl she had specificly asked the question too. Why was her department not helping. All her department was doing was taking notes. "Thats a good one. But that can also be altered. Maybe having a law like flying carpets can't be flown in certain weather is an argument for that." she cross examined. |
Suddenly, a slightly humorous idea came to Kyra and it sparked a question. "Miss Bass I was wondering if we know whether or not the carpets are flame retardant? If not then I would like to suggest that a con would quite likely be that they are flammable and will ignite if struck by lightning! We all know what kind of weather we have here, after all." she said. |
Anita spoke up. "Like broomsticks, flying carpets can be prone to faults like it may not fly at the right height causing accidents. It would not be great at all if a flying carpet malfunctions and crashes into a building like Big Ben. Think of the chaos," she said |
Lizeth grinned. "There should be age limitations on them. I can only imagine my 6 year old nephew getting ahold of one. I'd say the same for broomsticks, but it's a lot easier to use a carpet." She shrugged and looked down at the notes she'd been taking. |
Madison listened to the different conversations of the list that seemed to be adding up. "Yes. I would say that maybe having them flown at a certain height would be something to consider as well as the number of riders a carpet would have," she spoke up, pushing her long brown hair behind her ears. "But if I might ask a question to make sure things are clear, what were the reasonings behind banning them from Britain in the first place? Maybe there was a particular reason for their decision at the time. Might be the first place to start." She was concerned as to what factors were limited during the first decision made. |
Anita was writing down notes. She nodded in agreement to what Madison said. "I think that is a great idea," she said referring to Madison's suggestion. |
Evaline nodded at all the suggestions sparking. "Yes all of those are very good cons," she replied and added them to the list and then smiled at the girl who was going in the direction she was hoping they would go in. Instead of just concentrating on all the bad reasons, they needed to know some back ground information too before jumping to conclusions. "I agree and I have a file here somewhere," she said as she dug through her files on anything flying carpet she had picked up for this meeting. |
Lizeth thought about it. "Wasn't there something about the muggles noticing them too often and the carpets being sold to muggles that made them get banned?" She shrugged, but she thought she had read that somewhere. |
Madison smiled as her idea seemed to be a pretty good one, or at least some showed interest in her topic. She waited for a little more information from a folder that Ms. Bass spoke of before speaking again. |
As Evaline searched through her pile of folders for the right one, she heard what Lizeth said and commented, "Yes something like that. Let me get the paper." Finally moving one last piece she found the paper she was looking for. "Right. Here it is. Flying carpets were banned because they appeared on the Registry of Proscribed Charmable Objects because they were Muggle artifacts and are thus illegal to enchant." she said with a smile and looked up. "I believe that is the main reason they were banned," she added. |
Lizeth shrugged. "They make a good point. If we make them usable, whos to say someone doesn't charm a rug and then sell it to muggles as a joke? We might not even catch it until it's too late." She looked down at her paper, slightly pink-cheeked. She felt like she was talking too much. |
Anita looked at Lizbeth. "I am with Lizbeth. There are always wizards who bewitch Muggle objects to make poor unsuspecting Muggles freak out," she said |
She nodded. "That's exactly my point!" Lizeth exclaimed, gaining confidence. |
Evaline nodded at the commented made by her employee and the one that agreed with her from Lorraine's department. She wrote down the girl's thoughts on the side with the cons and realized they hadn't even started talking about pros and she wanted to change that. "Right so we have a good list of why we don't think they should be aloud, but lets see it from the other side. Anyone have any pros they'd like to mention?" she asked the group. |
Anita thought about it. "Flying Carpets can carry more passengers than broomsticks, I think," she said sort of struggling to find a pro. |
Lizeth thought for a moment. "Flying carpets are easier to use and less likely to cause blistering?" |

"Ms. Bass, if you don't mind me asking one thing before moving along, wouldn't brooms also be classified as a muggle artifact? I mean, muggles do use them so maybe looking at it from that point of view might help as well." She just wanted to make sure to see all sides of the picture instead of just the way one person thought way back when. It was a new time, a new era of things and hopefully they, the people in the room, could make some changes for the better. Quote:

Evaline smiled at Madison's observations. "Thats very true. So many the muggle items were a cover up for a real reason. No one knows but we can add that to our, list of why we don't think they should be banned." As she did that she wrote down all the other reasons people thought of why the Ministry should legalize flying carpets. |
Isabella knocked on the door, quite nervously. She opened the door and walked in slowly ''Hello guys, My name is Isabella, im in the Obliviators office, Im so sorry to bother you all in a meeting but this will only take a minute.'' My boss was just wondering if anyone here has ever had scarlet fever? My boss, Ivan in the Oblivators office, has asked me to ask ministry empolyees as a kind of survey for muggle excuses for seeing dragons and centaurs part of our International Co-operation project set my Ben Cobblestone. So, Scarlet Fever anyone...'' She looked around waiting a response... ''All in need is symptoms and reactions to the fever.'' She put her pen in her mouth and the scrap piece of paper held tight in her hand felt like her only friend at this point in time... OOC: I will come back and check for responses but feel free to PM me with your response. MANY THANKS EVERYONE |
Evaline was waited for anyone else to speak up, when a girl knocked and walked into the conference room. At least the girl had bother to apologize before she started speaking and interupting the meeting. "Right. Nope I haven't" Evaline replied to her question hoping to get this survey over quick. "Any else have a response?" she asked. |
Lizeth raised a hand. "Isn't that more common in South America?" Her uncle was a muggle traveler. |
Madison's head ventured towards the doorway as someone knocked then walked through apologizing. As the female began to speak and asked a question, Madison shook her head and answered with a "No." Never before that she could remember with the things her mother told her, did she have scarlet fever, nor anyone in her family. It was a rather strange question to ask at such an odd time. She then went back to listening to others speak as she took her own notes. |
Anita looked at Isabella "No, I haven't had scarlet fever," she answered. |
As people answered the girls question she quickly mentioned, "So any one else have any pros?" She hoped people did or it would obviously assume the British Ministry was against legalizing the flying carpets. |
"You know, if the Ministry only banned flying carpets before because they appeared on the Registry of Proscribed Charmable Objects due to being a muggle artifact, if that is only the solution for making them illegal then there has to be a way around that. I mean, for instance I will bring it up again that brooms are a muggle artifact and if there is a way that we can keep a tracking on each and every carpet charmed to fly, then we should be able to make this happen." Madison had a long speech but she just wanted to get her point across to everyone in making this a little easier. "I mean, they are legal elsewhere and maybe we just need to give it a chance and see what happens. "As for having adding more to the pros, well, it might be able to transport things a little easier if going from point A to point B if there were some who didn't prefer to travel by portkey or by floo. There are some wizards out there who are not fond of such ways of transportation." She sat back in her chair thinking of more ways to come up with the pros of having a flying carpet. It would be interesting just to see them around. |
