| | |  Harry Potter films DVD/BD U.S. NEW shipments to stop beginning today, December 29
Warner Home Video announced in September that all new sets of the Harry Potter films on DVD and Blu-ray would stop being sold beginning December 29, 2011, as part of Warner Bros moratorium for the series.
As today is December 29, 2011, the effect has started to go underway. Please note that this means those copies already available for purchasing at stores will be the last ones available to find, and that Warner Bros has no current plans to restock their inventory of all eight Harry Potter films. Also, Warner Bros announced that a definitive box set of the Harry Potter films will be released sometime in 2012.
This ONLY applies to the United States; there are no moratorium plans currently set for international markets.  “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2” will be available for a limited time only on Blu-ray and DVD, so get your copy before it vanishes from shelves. New shipments of all eight Harry Potter films on Blu-ray and DVD will cease on December 29, 2011.

this seems very silly....i mean, DVDs do get scratched and need to be replaced. I wonder if WB is trying to scare people into buying a box set they may not need.

I am baffled by this decision to be quite frank. It's ludicrous. Warner Brothers is just going to jack up the price on the definitive box set and make people scramble for it. Good thing I own all 8 movies already.

I read that they're doing this because in 2012, they will release a whole other set with a boatload of bonus features. This is upsetting, as I JUST got this one for Christmas. | |
