| | Harry Potter DVD/BDs new shipments, sales stopped in U.S. starting December 29, 2011
Warner Home Video announced today that after December 29, 2011, no more copies of the Harry Potter films in DVD, Blu-ray, or Ultraviolet discs will be shipped out in the United States. The full press release, more detailed than that released specifically for the DVD/BD release for the U.K. earlier today, can be read below. The “Boy Who Lived” comes face to face with the enemy of the wizarding world for a final, epic battle in “Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsÔ - Part 2” when it arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Download on November 11 from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson return for the closing installment of the most successful film franchise of all time. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2” has earned more than $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2” was directed by David Yates who also helmed the blockbusters “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.” Returning from previous Harry Potter films is an all-star supporting cast, including Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Ciarán Hinds, John Hurt, Jason Isaacs, Matthew Lewis, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, David Thewlis, Julie Walters and Bonnie Wright.
The collective Harry Potter films are the highest-grossing franchise of all time, a global record it has held since the success of the sixth film, 2009’s “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”
The Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD include an UltraViolet Digital Copy [for the Untied States] of the standard definition main feature, which allows consumers to download the film to a PC or Mac plus instantly stream it from a digital cloud to many computers, tablets or smartphones. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2” will be available for a limited time only on Blu-ray and DVD, so get your copy before it vanishes from shelves. New shipments of all eight Harry Potter films on Blu-ray and DVD will cease on December 29, 2011.
At the moment it is unknown when the sets will be sold again in U.S. markets (this does not affect international sales), and how it will effect the release of the Ultimate Editions of Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 and 2, the former of which will be out next year.
Pre-order the DVD and Blu-ray sets, out November 11 in the U.S. and December 2 in the UK, below, and through the official Warner Bros Shop. Wait what?! Why on earth would you only have it available for a limited time? This is the weirdest marketing scheme I have ever heard of.

Im confused.. The detailed press release was still vague. Does this mean Warner Bros is now starting a Vault system like Disney does with their animated films? I thoughy Disney was the only one that has Vault system. And in that vault is all 8 Harry Potters? Would that include the ultimate editions as i am slowly getting it every xmas.
There are conflicting statements in their story that needs to be clarified. Does it means for shipping, so that means online? Would the stores be still able to sell it off of their shelves and people can buy it physically than online?
As for the 8th movie, coming out on 11/11/11 and it will be on the shelvesfor a month and half and it will be gone? That does not sound right. Is this mistype or something?
Bizzare! I hope snitchseeker is able to tap into their source at Warner Bro for more clarification.

Bizzare! I hope snitchseeker is able to tap into their source at Warner Bro for more clarification. Warner Bros said straight-out that after December 29th that no more new copies of the films on DVD/BD will be shipped/sold in the United States only. There's no current date on when that's going to be turned around, but that's what they've said. I don't know what they're going to do with copies that are already available before that date (stores and online, I mean - and this applies to all), so we'll see.

We were wondering the same thing as the press release doesn't specifically mention the Ultimate Collector Editions - and the Deathly Hallows ones aren't even out yet. We are in the process of checking with Warner Bros.

Wait - this is really weird. I don't like this. I wonder why they're going to stop the shipment. This is really annoying.

Please if you can the wizards and witches high up in snitchseeker you have the spells and potions to find out what is going on because if I read it right people are going to buy these off the shelves before everyone can get one and after the end date if you want a copy you are going to pay out your butt from people who bought them all up.also do you think this is being done to where you might only to be able to get them on Pottermore? because there is where the only place you will be able to get the E-books

I think they are pulling a Disney on us in the States. Disney pulled a lot of their old films on dvd and a lot of people I know never forgave them for it!

I hope 'US' doesn't include 'Canada' in it, cause I think i'm going to kill somebody if it'S the case. I need to buy the ultimate editions and/or the set with all the dvd's and bonuses ( I like watching the bonuses and I haven't got them all yet) but I can't afford them all at the same time!
