| | Upper Floors It becomes more airy as you make your way to the upper floors of the castle. Here the tallest towers can be accessed and just maybe you will discover somewhere that, if you have to ask, you'll never know, but, if you know, you need only ask. |

| | | Music Classroom Upon entering this large classroom, it is very obvious what its purpose is. This room is dedicated to teaching Muggle and Wizard Music and is used by members of both the Frog Choir and Orchestra. Instrument cases of all shapes and sizes as well as rows of music stands with accompanying stools fill the inside of this room. In the front, a conductor's stand is positioned in between a polished black piano and a complete drum set.
For many at Hogwarts, students and adults alike, this is one of their favourite places inside the castle. At various hours throughout the day, wonderful music is made and you get to take a break from anything overly theoretical and hone your musical talents. Fortunately for those in Transfiguration or in other parts of the castle, your marvelous melodies cannot disturb them for the room is completely soundproof. So play as loud as you want! This space can also be reserved after scheduled class hours if you and your friends have formed a band and need somewhere appropriate to practice.

| Open for anyone and everyone Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right. Taliesin checked the Music Room before entering. He always checked.
A quick glance inside confirmed that, for the moment at least, the room was empty. Only then did he slip through the doorway with his violin case in hand and quietly shut the door behind him.
His wand remained in his hand for a moment longer. Locking the door would have been easy. One spell and he could guarantee himself the privacy he wanted. He considered it every time.
And, as always, he eventually tucked his wand away without doing it. The Music Room wasn't his, and he wasn't going to stop someone else from coming in to play simply because he preferred practicing alone. If someone did come in... well, he would probably deal with that by not being here anymore.
Taliesin carried his violin case toward the polished black piano and set it down nearby. Opening it revealed the violin resting securely inside, though he wasn't here for that today. His hand instead reached beneath its resting place and disappeared into the small pocket his father had placed an Extension Charm upon years ago. The case had long since become his school bag as much as it was an instrument case.
A notebook came out first, followed by an old self-writing ink quill. Both were set onto the piano's music stand before he turned his attention toward the chairs. This had sounded like a much better idea before he'd actually arrived.
He began shifting several chairs into position, arranging them in rows facing the piano. Not like musicians preparing to play, but like an audience waiting for someone else to do it. When he finished, he stood beside the piano and stared at them.
Empty chairs. That was all they were. They could not watch him or judge him, and yet arranging them so that every one seemed to be facing him had somehow made the otherwise empty room considerably less comfortable.
Excellent. That was presumably the point.
Taliesin settled onto the piano stool and looked over the keys. The violin was familiar territory. Almost too familiar. The piano gave him something else to focus on while attempting this ridiculous little exercise in convincing himself that an audience did not automatically mean disaster.
A croak interrupted his concentration, and he glanced toward the Frog Choir. "No heckling from the frogs, please." They were still better than a crowd of crickets, at least. Frogs were fine. Apparently furniture was where things became difficult, which made absolutely no sense.
Taliesin rested his hands above the keys, then glanced toward the notebook and quill waiting on the stand. "Let's see how far we get."
The quill immediately began scratching the words onto the page, making his eyes narrow. "I didn't tell you to start yet." Naturally, it wrote that too.
Taliesin stared at it. The old quill had been getting increasingly eager lately. He'd had it since his first year and really should have replaced it by now. He had thought that several times, and yet here it still was. "Just the music notes." The quill scratched that down as well before finally going still. Taliesin sighed, returned his attention to the keys, drew in a breath, and pressed down the first notes. |
