| | | St. James's Park Tucked amid London's busy streets and buildings, being a roughly six-minute walk from the Ministry entrances, is St. James's Park. Covering 57 acres and featuring a small lake with two islands, there is plenty to explore. Entering the park from Horse Guards Road to the east, one will find themselves near a park pavilion and quaint cottage. From the Mall to the north is a gate kiosk, drinking fountain, and a tiny coffee shop. Walking far enough west, one will stumble upon the Vitoria Memorial, Buckingham Palace, and the park's playground. The rest of the park provides a number of trails and a bridge that gives access across the lake from the south end of the park to the north.
On a sunny day, the park is a perfect getaway, especially during one's lunch break or after clocking out of work. It is is an excellent place to have a picnic under the shade of a tree, enjoy watching the waterfowl and resident colony of pelicans idly swimming in the lake, or go for a stroll or a run along the trails with a friend before having to venture back into the loud, bustling city.
The usage of wands or anything magical is strictly prohibited in the park to avoid breaking the Statute of Secrecy.

Damocles carefully picked up the fiber and after inspecting it closely realized it was a piece of thread, likely ripped from a cloak or someone's robes. It was black in color and made of wool. This could definitely be the clue he was looking for.
After thinking pensively for a minute or two, Damocles had decided what to do. He held the black fiber out in front of him and took out his wand. He cast a "Return to Sender" spell on the fiber. It began to glow with a diffuse blue light, kind of like the light one would get around a Portkey. He then closed his eyes and concentrated hard. He then stepped into the darkness and disapparated with a small "pop". Led to this spot by his "Return to Sender" spell, Damocles appeared suddenly in the park. The little black fiber stopped glowing and returned to its inert state.
Damocles kept his wand out, spinning on the spot and assessing for danger. Once he was reasonably confident that there was no immediate threat, he lowered his wand and began to look around. After only a minute of searching, Damocles found an abandoned black cloak scrunched up and hidden behind a tree.
Damocles was fairly certain that this had, in fact, been the cloak used by the witch or wizard who had stolen all those Diricrawls from the Magical Menagerie. He had his first big break in the case. He examined the cloak more thoroughly and found an inside tag with the initials "J.M.W" written on it in permanent marker.
Damocles now had a suspect.......well, the beginning of a suspect. At least he could now check the files for anyone with these initials and see if any of them had a prior record involving magical creature theft. He would have to return the Ministry with his new evidence.......and a lead!

| ½ of Lauralie | Koala | The being in Ern's pocket | Baby Smurf | Prouf member of The Flock Benji loved his life. He loved his job, which required him to wake up hours before the sun, and allowed him to have most of his day done and dusted by the time most people had their lunch breaks. He loved that it meant that he got to take a little nap in the afternoons under the shade of a friendly-looking tree. He loved that he had time to take the dog out on walks.
So that is where he was. Out in the park, with the dog, taking a leisurely stroll, waiting for his wife to be done with work.
That was the one thing that he didn't love so much about his life.
Not his wife, obviously. Roma Bracken was the best thing to ever happen to him. Just the fact that she had to work so much, and that he had to leave her while she was still nestled in the fluffiest of blankets every morning, and that she worked so hard and so late that he struggled to stay awake to see her home after.
In an ideal world, he would be able to follow his wife around like a totally not creepy shadow, offering her pastries and coffee every other hour.
Unfortunately, he did not live in an ideal world. He lived in a tragedy, where his breadwinner wife had to go out and win the bread.
Terrible. Horrible. No good. Very bad. |

Terrible. Horrible. No good. Very bad. See, Roma had tried to condition herself to be a morning person, but such attempts proved to be futile so thank Circe that court hearings happened at around ten o'clock. She was perfectly fine not having to leave the bed so early and not waking up before the sun, notwithstanding the countless moments when she did stir and groan when she feels that her husband was no longer beside her - because of course she married an early bird.
But she also liked her job. If she weren't already legally off the market, one would say she was in fact married to her job and they would be correct. Oh, how she enjoyed doing mental gymnastics in legalese, and berating people in court where it was socially acceptable. Roma loved always having something to occupy her time - reading, writing, thinking - and that's exactly what her senior associate position in Doge, Dillonsby & Bones pays her to do, and she was great at it.
In spite of her being the perfect workaholic, however, there were only a few things she loved more than being paid to be impressively productive, and easily one of those was seeing Benjamin at the end of every day.
Making quick work with cleaning her desk, Roma wasted no time to stay behind and chit-chat with her colleagues. No other words were exchanged aside from the customary goodbye's as she walked out of the office - if anyone looked close enough, they'd notice the constant furrow of her brows fade (whether she will confirm the fact is an entirely different matter) with each step as Roma shedded her metaphorical lawyer's skin - and disapparated from the nearest alley to St. James' Park.
It was easy to spot her husband, especially when he was with such adorable company. "Well, if it isn't my favourite boy." Roma spoke once she was close enough. And let the record show that she was talking about their dog, Brutus Ipsy. Benjamin, who?

If the question was whether he could ragebait with the best of them? Yeah. But if it was could Benjamin Stylinson, son of the deranged Ravenclaw who got a law degree for fun because she was bored after quidditch training, possibly undertake three years of a legal education and then go on to be what the old folks call "a corporate baddie"? Theoretically yes, but he would leave that to the pros.
He was more into the soft life. The warm smell of baking bread, flour in his hair, a fresh pie waiting to be served with dinner more often than not. Time to volunteer at the local soup kitchen. Dogs also apparently don't walk themselves, despite Ipsy's best efforts.
The dog, like his wife, was... an overachiever, to say the least. The dog had aced obedience school, taken to every trick immediately, and shown a shocking interest in Roma's legal ramblings. Every lawyer's dream dog. The only reason Res Ipsa Loquitur (the canine) put up with Benji was probably that he was the "food and walkies" guy.
A mama's boy through and through, the dog went bounding up to Roma, slobber and all, with Benji forced to jog behind to keep up. "Hi, darling. We missed you." Enough to kiss her lightly slobber-moistened cheek. Well, actually, he did his best to find the one dry spot on said cheek. Could she tell? |

Enough to kiss her lightly slobber-moistened cheek. Well, actually, he did his best to find the one dry spot on said cheek. Could she tell? The contrast between Roma's and Benji's lifestyles was, although a little bit crazy, a blessing. Had they been too similar, there would have been a ridiculous amount of arguing going on in their home. Roma already got into enough arguments with one Stylinson in the legal field. See: her colleague, Benji's twin himself. It also cannot be said enough that Benji's preference for the softer side of life has been a great influence in Roma's. Someone had to teach the uptight workaholic how to relax sometimes, you know? Thankfully, Roma found just that person for her - a huge bonus being it was someone who loved her.
Also, her husband made some of the best pastries in town. Who could blame her? He wasn't "food and walkies" guy for nothing.
"Oh." Roma should have expected the sloppiness from Ipsy after seeing the dog dart towards her direction, but alas. "Okay, Ipsy Bitsy, yeah, I love you, too." Love a show of affection, but Roma still needed both of her cheeks. Nose all scrunched from the encounter, she rubbed Ipsy's ear gently before standing back on her two feet and retrieving a tissue paper tucked deep in her bag - one that has definitely been in there for a while now because she hoarded plenty of them during her daily coffee runs - to wipe her wet cheek. One can never have too many tissues. Or something.
And yes, she noticed the carefully placed cheek kiss, which prompted her to properly de-slobber said cheek. "Hello, my love. There, you can try again." How kind of Roma Leigh Bracken to clean it all up just for him!

How kind of Roma Leigh Bracken to clean it all up just for him! Benji would contend that they would only fight a lot if they were both Roma-esque. He was a chill dude, and utterly assured that two Benjis would get on like a house on fire. Except that the house may actually catch fire.
Roma kept him on his toes, trying new things, ambitious. She made him his best self, and he was never trading his personal headache for anyone else ever ever ever. So if he had to bribe her with pastries, so be it. A small price to pay for perpetual bliss. "How generous!" Benji rolled his eyes affectionately, bending to drop a kiss on her other cheek. "Thank you, love."
Except, he would have, if he were not interrupted by a very loud voice yelling "DOGGY!" and a child who really could not be older than five throwing themselves onto Ipsy Bitsy the Dog.
Excuse me? How dare you interrupt Benjamin Stylinson's wife-kissing time? He was already wife-kisses deficient as is. Who raised you, little monster? |

Excuse me? How dare you interrupt Benjamin Stylinson's wife-kissing time? He was already wife-kisses deficient as is. Who raised you, little monster? Thankfully, they both liked their house and the current life they lived, right? Because Roma certainly enjoyed being his personal headache for life, and it should be safe to assume he didn't mind it considering he put a ring on it years ago. Plus, the pastry bribes almost always work. Nothing illegal about those.
Just as she was leaning in to collect her proper cheek kiss, a child enters the scene. It wouldn't be the first time. Ipsy Bitsy was a special and handsome dog, so it was only natural that he got all this attention. Hence, calling her boy 'Doggy' was basic. "Careful, little one," Roma softly warned, in case the child got all rough with the cuddling. Ipsy was playful, but it was always best to err on the side of caution where tiny children were concerned.
Of course, Roma hadn't forgotten her affection-deprived husband, and so she attempted to placate Benji's ickle tantrum that she felt brewing by planting a kiss on his cheek. "Don't blame the child, love." Could they blame Ipsy for being a catch?
As for the kid, well...
Hm. Roma might not even deny that the sight of it all - a giggly toddler gently wrestling with Ipsy - was fairly... cute.
