Scamander Zoo

https://s26.postimg.cc/x743eakft/sca...o-banner-3.jpg
Established in February of 2016, Scamander Zoo ironically can be found in a small, run-down opera house across from the London Zoo that non-wizard folk have a habit of overlooking, though this is a mere façade to keep things Muggle Worthy. Once a ticket has been purchased at the reception desk inside the central hall of the opera house, a grandoise staircase leads the way to a set of golden double doors.

Crossing the threshold causes everything to transform and takes the visitor to the zoo's lobby where various fountain beasts await. Free maps of the zoo, creature pamphlets, and fliers can be picked up here. To the left is the gift shop, and the bustling food court is to the right. Moving forward is the Childrens' Playground, which is decorated to resemble a classic playground accompanied with a Hogwarts-esque tree fort and a variety of kid-friendly creatures roaming around such as the Flobberworm, Crup, Kneazle, Puffskein, Niffler, and Demiguise.

The zoo beyond, however, definitely has a wide range of beasts -- from the mundane to extremely violent, the common and unfamiliar. You are sure to get your fill of magical creatures by visiting all of the different enclosures: African Safari, Aquatic Reef, Bird Nest, Far East Temple, Gnome Garden, Grecian Parthenon, Horse Paddocks, Insect and Pest Dwelling, Mooncalf Field, Reptile and Amphibian House, Spider Web, Troll Enclosure, and the Westward Expansion.

OOC: Feel free to utilize this spreadsheet as a reference for all of the creatures present at the zoo that your characters may be seeing on their visit. If you have a character that is already employed or wants to work at the zoo, you may add them to the list and role-play them here.

Evan!

Dahlia was one for making good on promises. Which is exactly what she was doing today, as she stood at the entrance of Scamander Zoo alongside her older sister Hady. Hady was the reason she was now bouncing on toes with excitement, holding onto tickets that would get her and her friend into all of the areas of the zoo.

These plans had been set in motion months and months ago. Evan probably didn't know that but it was true. That same day that they had been talking about possibly visiting the zoo together over the summer, she had mirrored her sister. Having such a large family with such a wide range of careers was epic. Especially the ones that fostered her passions as well.

Excited blue eyes looked around for her friend Evan, her long hair falling into her eyes as she nodded her head at her sister who had said she needed to get to work. "I'll be just fine. He should be here any minute."

This was a day he'd been looking forward to for quite a while, ever since they'd made the tentative plans back before Christmas break had started. It was a wonder that having known now about the wizarding world for 3 years that he hadn't made it priority to go to the zoo, but thanks to Dahlia this was changing today! He was genuinely excited, and as such had a fair amount of nervous energy which had managed to make him nearly late with trying to distract himself all day.

Racing through the crowd after his parents had dropped him off, having just convinced them that he was not in any danger today and would not be needing one of the family security detail for the day. Seeing her, he gave a wave before coming to a stop in front of her and leaning over to catch his breath for a minute. "Hi. I am.. so ... sorry I'm ... late."

Pardon the panting. He usually tried to always be more presentable, but considering he'd already unloaded most of his baggage over the term to her in their talks and hang outs, if she didn't already not enjoy hanging out with him based on that, he imagined she wouldn't care about this.

Besides. He hadn't wanted to make her wait any longer.

Standing up and straightening his shirt, Ev smiled. "Thank you again. I'm really excited about today!"

Being the active person that Lia normally was or had been at one time? Whatever, really. Now her level of hyper activity really depended on the day, mood and the situation. Right now she was attempting to dial things back, simply bouncing on the balls of her feet and humming under her breath as she kept an eye out for any signs of Evan. Which wasn't the easiest task when she kinda short and the crowd of people began to grow.

Luckily for her, Evan didn't seem to have issues locating her. She spotted him as he drew closer making his towards her through the crowd. Raising her hand she waved back at him to show that she saw him too. "Hi! I'm glad you made it!" Lia shook her head of long light brown hair, sending it flying all around her face. "You're not late at all. I've barely been here a few minutes." So there were no worries to be had.

She stood there with the brightest smile on his face despite his panting self just a few feet from her. He could take as long as he need to calm his breathing and compose himself, she was in no rush.. as long as he didn't take AGES.

"You're welcome! You're going to love it here! I already have our tickets and we can start anywhere you like." There was tons to see and do and they had alllllllll day.

The end of term and this summer had thus far blessed him with a bit of a growth spurt, which had made it possible for him to easily locate her. Sure he still wasn't close to Margaret's height, and who knew if he'd even keep growing, but at least crowd's were a little bit easier to navigate now and find people were he separated from them. Evan took a couple of deep, calming breaths before pulling himself to full height.

"Oh, thank goodness!" Good, she had not been waiting long. So at least he could wipe that worry away and not think about it for the rest of the day. And now that he'd taken those deep breaths, his face might have still been flushed but he at least wasn't looking as out of shape and could proceed with their exploration.

He was trying to not notice the bright smile, though he knew he was also matching it and bouncing a bit now too since no longer doubled over. "I have no doubt I will!" But in terms of starting wherever he wanted to? He had zero ideas what to actually expect, so instead he offered, "How about we start at your favorite exhibit and work our way from there?" Normal zoos usually had a loop or route that was fairly easy to see. So hopefully Scamander's wasn't going to be too different. "Shall we?"

The boy needed to stop worrying where she was concerned. Waiting a couple of minutes wasn't all that big of a deal. There was far worse things that could've taken place and they both knew that. Thankfully nothing like that was the case and all was well.

Lia noticed rather quickly that smile on Evan's face and the way that he was kinda bouncing a little in the same way that she was now that he was breathing normally again. It made her giggle just a little and smile all the more. Happiness really could be contagious and it was a wonderful thing! Now she had been expecting him to respond with something, anything but of course he would answer the way he had. It was Evan. "My favorite? This is supposed to be your trip." Cue more laughter.

"If that's really what you want to do though, we can do that. I hope you're ready for a long day filled with lots of fun!" With that, Lia held out a wrist band. "Our tickets. It's easier to wear them an a cute little keepsake. My sister got them ahead of time. So are we ready?" Heads inside so they can show the receptionist their tickets and head to the staircase and go inside!

A problem he was experiencing was that he couldn't stop worrying when it concerned her. It was a problem, something he was working on. Day's like today probably did not help, but he found he was still powerless to have bowed out of it when he'd been so looking forward to the event. But it was fine, all was fine. They'd have a ton of fun today, and he'd continue opening up to more people and making more friends and then maybe it would be easier to stop worrying.

That was the plan.

But it would start tomorrow.

The laughter made the smile remain, and he gave a small shrug of his shoulders. He was interested in what her favorite part of the zoo was though! And it seemed the best starting point, both from out of his own interest and efficiency. "It's our trip, and I don't know the zoo well enough to have a place picked to start. So starting at your favorite where you're probably most familiar and working through the most well known parts of the zoo first seems efficient!" He'd keep the other reasonings to himself.

So yes though, that was what he wanted to do. "I'm absolutely ready for that." He accepted the wristband, securing it around his wrist. "What do I owe your sister?" Because he certainly didn't want her to be out anything for them getting to do this. At the question of were they ready, he nodded his head and flashed a thumbs up. "Let's go!"

In all honesty, she was as much a worrier as he probably was. Maybe even more so. Oddly enough, that hadn't always been the case but it was now even if she was trying to change that. There were days and certain situations that made the worrying within her escalate but today wasn't one of those days.

Hopefully.

All Lia wanted to do was have a good time and see all of the creatures. That was the plan and she was sticking to it. Evan's interest in knowing what her favorite area of the zoo was came as no real surprise to her buuuuut the thing was, she enjoyed the entire place. All of it. Yup, that was a very normal Dahlia response but it was true. "Okay, okay, it is our trip but I'm a creature person. There's not really an area here that I DON'T like. But there is one spot that I guess I'm a bit more partial to.." she looked over at him and smiled brightly. Not hints were going to be given. He would just have to wait and see.

Good, very good. As long as he knew what he was getting into. Lia waved a hand at him, quickly dismissing his question. "Nothing. You're my guest, remember?" If anything she owned her sister, not him. That's how invitations worked. Unless it was to somewhere super crazy expansive but that was an entirely different story.

"Lets do this!" Laughing, Lia dashed off up the grand staircase and through the large golden doors. Once on the other side where several large fountains shaped as beasts stood, she collected a park map, creature pamphlets and various other fliers. "Here, you can take a look at there. The map and pamphlets are really great and if you spot an area you want to go to just let me know." Bounces on her heels for a few moments giving him time to look around. "The gift shop and food area is right here.." Points those out quickly. "I normally don't eat right away but we can if you want to.. and I check out the gift shop later on. If you're ready we go head to the Children's Playground." Trying to keep her cool right now and not let on that this is probably her favorite spot to go to.

He would have bet his galleons she was more so. Merely for the fact she had so many more people to worry about than he did. Lia obviously had a big heart, something he admired about her. But with a big heart, seemed to come it's own set of problems regarding just how much one cared about everyone around them. It actually looked kind of exhausting, though she certainly did it all well.

Evan would have been fully on board with her plan, actually he WAS considering that was really all he wanted out of the day as well. He laughed as she explained she was a creature person, knowing full well that was in fact the case, before raising an eyebrow in interest when she said there was somewhere she preferred partially over the others. "Where is it?" Though he didn't really need to ask since they'd be heading that way soon enough. "I can be your guest and still pay my own way!" He definitely did not expect her or her sister to front his part of the bill, that would have been rude of him as well.

Once she dashed off, he stretched his legs to follow quickly after her, taking stairs two at a time towards the top. He then followed her over towards the resource center, where she was grabbing flyers and brochures and he just momentarily watched. Then she was offering everything to him and he accepted it, glancing over the papers, taking particular notice of the map. There was... a lot he wanted to see. Actually, he wanted to see all of it. Which meant they were in for quite the long day, he was certain. "Food later, and gift shop last seems good to me?" He didn't want to carry purchases around everywhere. Hearing her say next stop would be the playground, eyebrow arched again though smile remained. "Okay, well lead the way!"

Dahlia wasn't going to give anything away. Just like she wasn't going to allow him to pay his own way today either. "Evan, it's not necessary. Honest. It's all been taken care of." There was nothing at all rude about it when she had invited him and her sister had gotten the tickets for them. If it really meant that much to him, he would have to find some other way to pay her back.

Perhaps she could've walked up that stairs with him but sometimes running ahead was more exciting. Plus she had a feeling he could catch up quickly enough. Lia nodded along, a smile on her face as he seemed to agree with what she had said. "Sounds like a plan to me." Honestly she never really understood why people would want to eat right away and than do a whole ton of walking. That just made her feel nauseous. She always waited a bit before eating and shopping was best later in the day so things didn't have to be carried around for hours and hours.

The look on her friends face when she mentioned where they would be headed first made her giggle. "Just trust me. You're going to love it!" Lia continued walking into the zoo a little bit leading the way into what was a children's playground area that had a tree fort which had kid friendly creatures.

Well, it was fairly obvious to him now that he had lost the battle and to give in on the fact she was not going to take any type of compensation in turn for his ticket for the day, so instead he chose to give a small smile in gratitude. "Well, thank you then." And yes, he would have to figure out a different way to make it up to her. Which he would probably spend the rest of the day thinking about while they continued their travels throughout the zoo.

He could in fact catch up fairly quickly, which he was able to do in not much time at all. Reaching her side around the time they reached the top of the staircase. He glanced around once they were there, taking in all the sights as they started their exploration. The best part of having a tour guide was that he didn't have to pay much attention to figuring out the actual route since Lia knew, and he could just enjoy the journey.

He did trust her, so the request wasn't hard. And yet he still could not get his eyebrow to move back to it's normal, level position. Instead it remained raised as he looked around and they entered the children's play area. There was a lot of trees, which was certainly curious. "I'll take your word on it." And he didn't mean that as sarcastically as it might have sounded. His curiosity was just growing and growing as he wondered what exactly this favorite attraction of hers was going to be.

"You're welcome," Lia smiled back, giving him a tiny play nudge with her shoulder against his in a silent attempt to make him laugh or something. Friends did nice things for one another when they could and this was something that she could easily do without any trouble at all.

She might only be thirteen and she might be a touch on the short side for her age still but she did pride herself in her knowledge of this place and the creatures within the zoo. So technically Evan really didn't need a map buuuuuut she felt that he might like to be able to keep track of where they were heading and where they had been. Plus it did make a nice keepsake. As his 'tour guide' for the day, she was going to make sure he got to see and do EVERYTHING!

Dahlia flashed Evan a wide grin. "Good because that's all you can do right now." Trust her, that is. And he need not worry because she wasn't going to let him down. She led the way further into the Children's Playground. "So this is it. In here we can touch, hold and play with the whoever comes to us. As long as we're careful not to drop, hurt or scare any of them." That was very very important. Obviously the zookeeper for this area was right there keeping an eye on things and would help them should the need it. "They do demonstrations and stuff here too." Could he see now why she liked it in here? Nifflers, crups, kneazles!

Obviously the zookeeper for this area was right there keeping an eye on things and would help them should the need it. "They do demonstrations and stuff here too." Could he see now why she liked it in here? Nifflers, crups, kneazles!

He smiled back at her, a small laugh escaping when she pushed his shoulder gently. He might have still been confused on the definition of friend and how people got to becoming friends when everyone started as acquaintances but... he at least knew that he and Lia WERE friends. And that must have just been what this was like. It did feel reminiscent of him and Solana before their first year.

Her height and her age had made no difference to him on this. And he did plan to keep the guide as a memento, but he felt no need to follow along in it while they walked around. She knew what she was doing. So he'd just keep looking at the sights and enjoying their time.

Trust was not something that came easy to him. Too many hurts and betrayals, but this time it was fine. She was still one of the only people he'd explained his past two years in detail too, and while maybe it still wasn't all settled and calmed, but he had taken a risk and confirmed she was trustworthy and a good person. So blindly following her was really not that hard for him to do at this point. But then they were to the area she liked. And... did she just say they were allowed to touch the animals? Hold them? PLAY WITH THEM? He glanced around at the ground and could see all the creatures wandering about. So he did the natural thing to do in this scenario.

And he plopped down where he stood to see if any were comfortable coming to him. "This is so cool! I can see why you like this spot! It's like the no-mage zoo's where they let you hold and interact with sloths and stuff." He did always enjoy those. One on one time with the animals was always the coolest experience.

That would be where they may have differed a little. Lia wouldn't have had a clue on how to even come close to explaining how people became friends because in her eyes, most everyone was her friend. That's just simply how it was. Something as simple as a smile in her direction could mean friendship. It was the type of girl she was. A people person. Usually.

Lia was more than happy to lead Evan around the zoo. Especially when he reacted in the bestest way possible to what she had just told him. The brightest of smiles tugged at her lips as she mimicked him, plopping herself down on the ground near him.

"Right?" She giggled smiling over at him. How can anyone not like this place? Getting to play with all of the creatures was the best. "This has always been one of my favorite spots in the entire zoo. When I was younger my I used to come here with my sister.. she would go do her rounds with the creatures and I would just sit in here for hours."

That was something he envied about her. The ease in which she seemed to be able to connect with people. It was such a confusing struggle to him. But even with the small green eyed monster on his shoulder, he also admired the ability. She was one of those people who people just really liked. Tad was a lucky guy.

Once he'd plopped, and she had as well, it didn't seem to be long at all until a niffler was sniffing around - closer and closer. And probably eying Evan's watch in the process, which definitely had a little shine to it. He didn't think the creature would be able to get it off, and even if he did... it was no skin of the Nam's teeth. So instead he just put his arm out farther, letting the streaming sunlight hit it and reflect just enough to draw even more attention from the niffler.

"That sounds like the best. Did you come to work with your sister often?" If Noah worked in a place like this, Evan would have requested to go with him for work EVERY day.

Lia only had eyes for the niffler that was slowly making its way towards them. The way it was sniffing all around was the cutest thing ever! Watching how it seemed to be attracted to the slight shine that was coming from Evan's watch now. "I think you're about to make a friend," she whispered softly, not wanting to startle the little niffler. As much as she wanted to reach out an scoop the creature up into her arms, she resisted the urge for the time being. She wanted to give it a chance to get closer to them on its own.

"It really is great. I hardly ever turn down spending time around creatures." If it was up to her she would probably come here everyday. Maybe. "As often as I could. I went to work with my papa all of the time too. There's a lot of us kids so sometimes we had to take turns." Coming here with Hady though was much easier than all of the kids going to her papa's shop since the zoo is way way larger.

Evan's attention was also fully captivated by the little creature cautiously making it's way towards them. There was a soft smile on his face as it got closer and closer, sniffing at his hand - particularly the watch. He fought the low chuckle that wanted to escape, and instead slowly nodded his head at her words. "I might also be about to lose my watch." Not that it would matter that much to me if the niffler did manage to steal it away, he had others at home.

"I don't blame you." He would have wanted to spend all of his time here too. "Do you ever get to help your sister take care of the creatures too?" A vet sounded like a really cool job too. It was not something he had yet considered for his future, but maybe. Psychology and study of the human mind did still hold more of a fascination to him though. "Your dad worked at the Menagerie?" Or was he mistaking that? "Has it ever been hard to have to share resources with so many siblings?" And by resources, he really only meant time.

A soft giggle did escape her lips as the niffler seemed to show interest solely in Evan's watch. "I'm sure I have sparkly things in my bag that would get their attention and spare your watch." She was sure to have something even if it was a hair clip or a glitter pen. Now that the niffler was super closer to them, Lia reached out her hand slowly and cautiously so as not to startle it. Speaking of which.. hello bracelets and rings that she normally tended to wear?

"Erm.. that really depends," she answered quietly. "Usually not here. If it's one of ours or a family friend or perhaps one she's brought home for a bit than yeah, sometimes." Hady took her job very seriously and it was all about the creatures and their comfort and safety first. Lia nodded. "Uh-huh. That was years ago though.. when we were still little." She really missed when he worked there and getting to be there ALL day long. That was a place where she had gotten to help with all of the creatures. "Resources?" There was a slight tilt of her head a questioning look in her eye. "What do you mean?"

He smiled at her and the offer, shaking his head in response. "It doesn't matter much. My Appa buys me a new one every birthday." Mainly because he didn't know what Evan's interests were, and one could only buy their son so many notebooks before realizing they were piling up. Though for some reason that seemed to escape him on watches. As if someone needed more than one?? The niffler's attention seemed to swivel to her, and Evan gave another small laugh. "Might want something glittery to distract him from your jewelry though." And now that the niffler had turned, slowly reached his hand to stroke it's back.

"That makes sense. I would expect they're pretty particular about that here?" Which made sense. These were not all common creatures, and would need an expert and probably not want a novice assistant, even with as skilled as Lia was with animals as well. "I bet Sir Frederik is especially healthy with your sister around, huh?" It was probably really nice to have someone so good with animals around when you had your own pets. "How old were you when he stopped?" He asked curiously, before she was questioning what he meant by resources. Even he would have to admit that was probably the most awkward way he could have asked. "Uhh... I guess I meant like time with your parents and your siblings? I imagine it would be hard taking you all everywhere...?"

She was about to open her mouth and ask if he was sure, when he explained that he gets a new watch every birthday. "Really? Do you.. like watches?" Lia tilted her head curiously at Evan, wondering why anyone would really need more than one or two unless they collected them. Or perhaps he liked to wear a different one with clothing? She did that with her jewelry all of the time. As the niffler turned its attention towards her she smiled. "It's okay, nothing on this hand will really upset me if he managed to get it off." Yet she still reached into her bag with her other hand to rummage around inside and see what she could find for the niffler to play with.

"Yup, you guessed right. They do offer volunteering programs and internships for older individuals though. That's actually how Hady got started working here." Maybe it was something she would do someday too. "Uhhh, maybe five or six?" (Rper is failing to remember atm lol) she shrugged a shoulder not completely sure anymore. Lia chewed the inside of her cheek as she gave some real thought to Evan's question. "Sometimes? I don't want to lie and say no.. there's five of us younger ones and five adults that are still their kids with their own kids.. so grandchildren. Mum works at the Ministry and papa has his shop, it's a lot already and they really really try. We do lots of things as a family all year around but.. with so many people it does make it hard to get that one on one time sometimes.." she hadn't meant to make it sound like she was upset about sharing her parents but that may have been how it came out.

Sunny bunny & Camillo <3

Anita thought that the Scamander zoo was a lovely place for date number… what number was it now? She peered over at Camillo thoughtfully. They had gone on so many dates by now that she had lost track. The fun they had had on each of the preceding ones certainly wasn’t something that she had forgotten, however. “It’s been a while since I’ve been here,” the woman admitted. Work, of course, had been the triggering factor that kept her away from having too much free time. For that reason, being back at the zoo certainly felt like a breath of fresh air.

Though not fully fresh because fertiliser, manure and all the other smelly stuff that accompanied a zoo. At that moment, they happened to come across the Gnome Garden. Giggling like a little girl, Anita threaded an arm through her date’s. “Look! That one looks a lot like you,” she teased, pointing a small, fat gnome.

"A very long while since I've been here too," said Camilo cheerfully, giving Anita a smile. If he remembered correctly, his last visit to Scamander Zoo was with his Caerphilly Catapults teammates - yes, THAT long ago - when they decided to give the new kid from Argentina a proper tour around Wizarding Britain. He did not remember feeling as happy then as he did today, and he knew it was all because of the difference in company.

Unbeknownst to himself, the former Quidditch player had been glancing at his girlfriend more than at the wide range of fantastic beasts they passed by. He did want to learn a new fact or two about the magical creatures, but got distracted whenever Anita laughed because he could not resist catching another glimpse of her lovely dimple. The cause of the giggling this time seemed to be a gnome that looked like him. "Haha, well you look like - hmmm, nope none of the gnomes here are pretty ... oh, I got it. Make fun of me some more and you'll be a lot like that one," he retorted playfully as he pointed at a Jarvey in the Gnome Garden.

Since they both hadn’t visited the Zoo in a while, Anita was all in a bubble of happiness that she had chosen the spot for their date. Like Camillo, Annie was thrilled to be here and it was mainly due to his presence. His presence in her life took her happiness to an entire new level. Sometimes, she was still in awe that Camillo had made an impact this quickly on her.

Did her boyfriend think that he was being covert? She had no problem bursting his bubble as Annie had figured it out after she caught him sneaking glances at her. Not to mention sneaking glances at his handsome face was something which she enjoyed doing too. In fact, she enjoyed it as much as she did working on her designs. “Flattery will get you nowhere, Mister,” Annie remarked, giggling happily again. Oh, oh! He thought of her as a Jarvey?

“Then I’m a rabid jarvey! You’d better run for your life unless you want to be bitten!” Cue Anita baring her teeth and bugging out her eyes. Yep. She was totally being silly.

If he knew that Annie was marvelling at how quickly he made an impact on her, Camilo would have reciprocated with a list of all the changes she brought about in him after teasing her nonstop, of course. Just as a few examples, he was happier than ever, and dressed better than ever!

He did think he was being covert, but did not mind that his glances were noticed. After all, he never tried to hide how he felt about her. It was also nice that they kept making eye contact from simultaneously sneaking glances at each other. The covertness though, was just for an extra element of fun. Like his weird attempt at complimenting her by saying how unlike a gnome she was. "It's not flattery if it's the truth," he replied and took a bow like the gentleman he was.

But the next moment, they were back to being silly. Right on cue, Aguilar turned and began to run in slooooow moootiooon while commentating. "Ugly Gnome runs for his life. AAARGH. But wait, Ugly Gnome turns back ... and catches Rabid Jarvey!" He turned back and enveloped Anita in a hug. "The prey becomes the predator! Oops sorry," he apologised upon accidentally stepping on a passerby's foot.

Like Camillo, Anita never bothered hiding how she felt about him. Why should she? This had been the B-E-S-T relationship she had ever been in and she had never been happier. Camillo was quite the catch and not because he was incredibly hot, but because he treated her right and he was always patient with her. And he paid her some great compliments. She beamed so brilliantly, her dimple showed deeper than usual. “Aren’t you the sweetest?” For that, Anita kissed Camillo on his cheek: a loud smack! If it drew attention from other patrons at the zoo, she didn’t care. At present, she felt like a teenage girl again.

Apparently Camillo felt as though he were a teenage boy? He was so silly and such a sport for playing along! Anita legit giggled as she watched him run in slow mo. Really now, this would have been golden to catch on camera. There was more giggling as she was captured in Camillo’s arms. “Rabid Jarvey happily surrenders to Ugly Gnome!’’ Oh no. Her Gnome was causing injury to someone. “Sorry,’’ she called to whomever it was. “He’s just having the time of his life.’’

There was the dimple he loved so much! AND a kiss on the cheek for being the sweetest. "I'm afraid I might just be," Camilo replied with a smile just as bright as Anita's. He did not care either if their minor PDA drew attention from the people around them. That's right, everyone - you're looking at the cutest couple in London.

"And they lived happily ever after," he concluded their factually inaccurate story (he wasn't entirely sure if Jarveys and gnomes could get along or whatever, he was seriously not paying attention to the enclosures) and gave his girlfriend a peck on the forehead before releasing her. After waving in apology at the injured dude, he immediately turned to Annie and denied her claim. "That's not true, I was only having the appropriate amount of fun a mature grownup has in a zoo. Race you to the Horse Paddocks!!!" With that, he took off running!

Now that was a title that Anita would grab and wear physically if she could. Just one minor change: cutest couple in the world. It would be a truer title then. The young woman giggled again {it most likely was among the first giggles that would ensue throughout the date}. “Happily ever after forever,” she remarked giddily. Just like she and Camillo would be one day too?

The appropriate amount of fun? Really, Camillo Aguilar? Annie hadn’t the time to respond between the forehead kiss and the words. Her brain fully registered Camillo’s challenge at the exact moment he took off running. “CHEATER!” But already she was following, letting her long legs take her as quickly as they could towards the horse paddock. Where was that, anyway? Annie didn’t know but she figured it was a good start to simply follow that energetic boyfriend of hers.

”Oooni-corns!”

Conley sighed. Radhika had been going on about wanting to see the unicorns since they had announced they were going to the zoo a few days ago. He wasn’t really sure what her fascination was with the creatures. He figured it had something to do with their shiny manes and horns and hooves. ”Yes mon cheri, we will see the unicorns. But they are on the other side of the zoo. Maybe we can see something else first? The mooncalfs perhaps?” Conley looked over at Sachin for help.

”No! Oooni-corns!” she repeated tugging on Papa’s hand. Her sparkly tennis shoes dug into the ground as she tried to get the adults to follow her. It didn’t matter that she was trying to get them to go in the wrong direction. She just really wanted to see the unicorns. ”Daddy… make Papa go to Oooni-corns!”

Sachin thought there couldn’t have been a more perfect day for today’s family trip. The weather was warm and there was the feeling of a good day being ahead in the air. Even if his and Conley’s elder child was acting up. Radhika clearly had taken a liking for animals and creatures from an early age, something which he thought was good for her. This taught her to love them and gave her a sense of responsibility whenever there was a chance to care for them. The younger man shifted the baby carrier basket in his hand as he met Conley’s gaze. Clearly the husband needed some assistance.

Sachin reached out to take Radhika’s hand and spoke to her patiently in Hindi. “We’ll see the unicorns soon, Radhi. They’re not going anywhere. Besides, all of these other creatures want to meet the little fairy they’ve heard so much about. Don’t you think they would be sad if you didn’t take time to visit them?” He pinched Radhika’s cheek lightly then peered down at the basket. Good. Levi was still fast asleep, his sister's tantrum leaving him unbothered.

She let go of Papa’s hand and grabbed hold of Daddy’s and started tugging him in the same direction as Papa. Daddy was usually the easier of the two to get to do things. But stopped tugging when he started talking. She looked up at him with big brown eyes. She was about to agree when she noticed Daddy was looking at the baby again. Ugh… he was boring and cried a lot. (Although she did enjoy watching him laugh.) ”But Daaddddy…’ she whined hoping to get his attention again.

Conley knew that tone. Someone was feeling jealous again. He didn’t blame her. Not always at least. She was too young to fully understand that Levi needed more attention then she did right now. ”Alright mon coeur. That’s enough. Daddy’s right. They’ll still be there if we don’t go see them right away. Let’s go see the fairies. “ They were in the direction Radhika was tugging them and would likely be a good distraction. He glanced up at Sachin with a smile. Stubborn though she was, Conley loved their daughter.

Oh no... Papa was using his unhappy voice. Radhika looked up at him, lip trembling a little until - Fairies? If there was something Radhika loved more then unicorns it was fairies. They too were sparkly and shiny and they flied! "Ohhhkay. Come-on Daddy!" She giggled and then let go of Daddy's hand and started marching off. Again, in the wrong direction.

Of course Radika’s tugging on his hand was nothing more to Sachin than her pulling on his finger when she was just a newborn. That’s how he thought of it, anyway. Which made it all the more unbelievable to him that she was growing up so quickly and had already learnt to walk and talk to an extent. Yes, he knew he could be a pushover most of the time, especially when it came to their daughter but he was trying to curb that habit. One of the last things he and Conley needed was Radhika to grow up spoiled by getting whatever she wanted. Sachin met those big brown eyes {so much like his}, quite prepared to attempt once more to convince her to behave because goodness! This child could be stubborn!

Sachin in turn knew that tone of Conley’s. He was about to lightly chastise his husband if Radhika cried but there was no need. He simply laughed as he watched the little girl pull away and started off in the wrong direction. “Radhi! You’re going the wrong way.” Then he grinned over at Con. “She gets her stubbornness from you,” he teased fondly. Radhika was not biologically either of theirs but had a few of the mens’ traits. Who could tell if more would be developed later? The man casually glanced down at Levi as they set off again. “Imagine he sleeps through all of his sister’s loud tantrums,’’ he mused. Levi certainly {so far} was the quieter of their two children.

”Mmm?” Conley was busy paying attention to Radhika as she continued her wobbly determined march ahead of them. As they walked, Conley slipped his hand into Sachin’s free hand. It wasn’t often they had the time to spend together like this and when they did, Conley liked to make the most of it. And while he missed having romantic alone time with his husband, he wouldn’t trade one tirade, dirty diaper, or sleepless night for anything. Sachin had made his dream of having a family come true and as it had been a dream he had given up on long ago. "Yes, well, you've certainly taught her how to use those big brown eyes of hers to get what she wants." He smiled at Sachin. "And he? Well, I'm sure he'll be the patient one just like you." although he did wonder what traits Levi might develop as he got older. Perhaps he too would be stubborn and impulsive like his sister. Merlin help them if that was the case.

Up ahead came a big excited squeal and the sound of clumsy running. Clearly Radhika has seen the fairies."Radi, walk…wa-"

Her feet were too fast for her body. Or her body was too fast for her feet. Either way she stumbled and fell, bouncing slightly as she landed. She sort of just sat there for a moment trying to figure out what happened. Then she looked at her hands. "Oooo…

"-lk." He didn't hurry over to her. Sometimes she picked herself up and toddled off again. Today didn't seem like one of those days. Or was it? He stopped behind her. "We're okay. Right?" He squatted down next to her. "What do we do when we fall mon coeur?"

She sniffed. "Pick up me." She rubbed her hands on her tights and then pushed herself up, butt up in the air for a moment as she found her balance. Then she was off again.

"That's right. We pick ourselves up…" He watched her go then looked up at Sachin. "And that she gets from you." He straightened up again and followed after their daughter. She had fairies to see after all!

Sachin immediately intertwined his fingers with his husband’s. The simple act always brought comfort to him whether or not he needed it. His gaze followed Radhika too, knowing that they had to keep a sharp eye on her. Her endless vat of energy always kept the two men guessing. It was tiring, it was amusing and it was endearing. Sachin chuckled, tearing his gaze away from the little girl before them for a while. “So you’re going to put all of the blame on me then?” he asked, his tone light and teasing. Yes, Sachin knew the effects he had on Conley when it came to his eyes. Not that he used the fact to his advantage intentionally. “I can picture that,” he continued. “Because what older sister didn’t need a younger brother to keep them in check?” It was sort of like his and Conley's relationship; Sachin was the calm and patient one while Conley got easily worked up.

He turned his head quickly at the sound of Radhi’s squeal followed by hastened footsteps. Why was he not surprised when he fell? Because it happened so many times before that he lost track. That girl was too energetic for her own good. Sachin followed Conley’s lead by not hurrying over to her. He was very supportive of this type of parenting by not fully babying Radhi. Fall, both literal and figurative, were a part of life and it was important that their daughter learnt that it was a must to pick herself back up after experiencing one.

See? He need not worry. Sachin smiled proudly as Radhi got to her feet. Sachin fondly patted her head. He was always amused by the way in which she picked herself up by pushing her butt into the air first. “Good going, love.” Big surprise there when she hurried off again. “Why, Mr. Singh-Phora! What a lovely compliment.” There was a huge smile on his face. “She gets it from both of us,” he clarified, peering down at Levi again. The baby who was just under a year yawned widely but his eyes remained closed. “Reckon he’ll be awake to see any of the creatures?” It always amazed him that babies and toddlers could sleep that much!

”How about one who only had brothers?” he asked to Sachin’s question. Conley had grown up as a middle brother in a family of three and while he didn’t get along with either of his brothers, they had spent a good portion of their childhoods keeping each other from getting big heads or into too much trouble. ”I’m glad she’ll have someone to grow up with. As much as my brothers and I argue, they always had my back.” He had also had Winnie, who, probably more so than his brothers, had always had his interest at heart. It was something Sachin hadn’t grown up with and sometimes Conley wondered if his husband would have ended up differently had he had someone.

Conley leaned into Sachin’s space, mostly because he could and not because he needed to, as he looked down at their son. ”Mmm… I’m sure he’ll wake up at some point. Probably for food, and not the animals.” He laughed. ”Or for a dirty nappy. Who’s turn is it to change him by the way? Yours I think….” It was more likely that it was his turn, but Conley wasn’t above trying to trick Sachin into nappy changes.

While expressing the sentiment, Sachin had not forgotten that his husband had two brothers; and since they were not so close, Sachin didn’t know them that well. Not as well as he knew Winnie, that is. “See? At least they didn’t leave you behind. Not completely, anyway.” He trained his gaze on Radhika again. “I hope these two are going to be close. It would be a pity having to use the rest of your old age trying to make them get along.” Sachin’s lips twitched upwards as he snuck a glance over at Conley.

Sachin seized the opportunity of Conley leaning closer to peck him on the cheek. “It’ll be either food or Radh’s chattering,” he prophesied confidently. Then he outright laughed. “Uh huh, because you think I wouldn’t be meticulous track of that. It’s actually your turn.” Sachin affectionately punched Conley on the arm. “Your brain’s clearly getting too old for this,” he continued, always enjoying teasing Conley about ageing. He meant it all good naturedly, of course. Growing old together with someone had once upon been nothing but a dream to him.

"Siblings, mon amour, have a way of being both the greatest blessings and the worst curse. So long as they remember at the end of the day, they are stuck with each other, I'm sure they will be fine." He paused. "And if they don't, well, then that'll be your task, Mr. Ambassador. Because if you can't get two little peoples to get along, well, what did I hire you for?" He laughed then.

A loud laugh echoed from up head. It made Conley laugh even more. Radhika often echoed their laughter even when she didn't understand why they were laughing. "She is so silly, isn't she?" He beamed happily at Sachin. Every day, he was grateful that Sachin had agreed to go on this journey with him. That he had given him this gift. So far, he was pretty sure Sachin hadn't regretted it either.

"Da-ddeee!" She had found the fairies! She clapped her hands together and then toddled up to the enclosure. "I found!" She looked back at her dads and then then at the fairies. "Pap-aa!" Why were they taking so long? Was it the silly noisy Levi? Ugh. Maybe they should have left him behind. "Fairies!"

For Ally & Bry! <3

At eight years old, Aryan Zahid Atreyu-Rehman had visited the Scamander Zoo more times than he could count. But Bryony’s mommy worked here and sometimes when his fathers got too busy, they brought him here so that Aunty Hady could keep an eye on him. Ary wasn’t one to get into trouble but his three older siblings were off at Hogwarts so there wasn’t anyone to be with him during these times. Unless you counted Bry; she was his shadow apparently.

At the boundary surrounding the Mooncalf Field, Ary stood peering over at the beautiful creatures dwelling there. “Is the Mooncalf Dancing happening soons?’’ he asked no one in particular, his English having improved though he still had the habit of adding an ‘s’ at the end of words. His eyes were focused on the baby Mooncalves which he found rather adorable. If only he could touch one. Ary’s small hands gripped the enclosure boundary as he continued to focus on the creatures.

Sweet Baby Ary! <3

Bryony may only be eight and a half years old but the amount of times she had been here at Scamanders was so numerous she no longer even attempted to try to guess how many times she had been here. This could be thanks to her mama being the vet for all the creatures that lived here. If that wasn't the greatest job ever, the small girl truly didn't know what was. Except for perhaps her papa's job being an Auror or her uncles having their own reserve for Hippogriffs and Dragons! And Koen being in a band! And-and being a Junior Ninja Warrior 'Princess'!!! The latter of those being HER dream obviously.

Most of the time when she accompanied her mama to Scamanders one of her siblings were here too or a cousin. However they were all away at Hogwarts. Which meant.. that a good portion of her time was spent with Aryan. Her bestie-est friend. Her boyiefwiend. Her person. She could spend all day, everyday with him and be perfectly happy.

Bouncing on her toes, her own tiny hands grasping at the enclosure bars that kept them separated from the mooncalfs, Bry glanced over at Ary when he spook. "They dance when the moon goes downs, 'member?" she reminded him softly. But she knew full well that he was asking about the show that the mooncalfs put on for the people that visited the zoo which would be happening soon. It was only a matter of someone from the staff magicially making the enclosure darker where the moon would shine down upon the mooncalf. She knew that he liked to watch this show, so they wouldn't be leaving the area until afterwards.

He’d give in to being her bestie-est friend but not her boyiefwiend. There was about six years still until he admitted to that. But similar to Bry, he could spend all day with her and be happy, maybe except those times when she accidentally injured him with her hyperness or when her hugs squeezed the lights out of him.

Ary kept his gaze focused on the baby mooncalf. He wanted one. Could he have one? Maybe if he asked Aunty Hady nicely she would say yes. Maybe he should ask Bry what she thought. Ary looked over at her at the same time she spoke up. “Tonight?” He thought there were special days when the dance was held but he wasn’t sure if today was one of those days. Again… maybe Aunty Hady would know. Bry would be right: the little boy loved watching the mooncalves dancing. “Woulds Aunty Hady give us one of thems?’’ His right index finger pointed in the general direction of the creatures.

Adorable Little Aryan! <3

Poor sweet Aryan, if only he would just come to his senses and learn to agree with her already. So many tantrums may be avoided but young boys were confusing, this much little Bryony knew. What she also knew was that someday he was going to admit what she already had been telling all the world for years already, that he was HERS. For now though she would settle on being at his side every single moment that she could be.

Ugh! He wasn't even looking at her still. This boy was going to drive her crazy. Was that mooncalf more cuter than she was?! Sure it was pretty darn cute and she wouldn't mind playing with one and taking care of that little baby buuuuuuut it also wasn't a hippogriff or dragon. "Yessssss, theys gonna dance tonight." Happy now, Ary? Now will you pay attention to her too please???

Wait. What?! He wanted one?! From her mummy?! Blink. Blink. If he got one then she wanted one too. Unless they shared one! "Not dat one. She lives here but maybe mummy can get us one of our own." Now she was really curious and she was going to have to ask about this. Could they talk to Uncle Adi and Uncle Benny about getting her a griff or dragon of her very own to?

Tantrums could have been avoided? Ary would definitely disagree. Tantrums were in Bry’s nature and if she didn’t have at least one daily, he would think that something was wrong with her. While he had no sort of plan to admit that he was hers, Ary had gotten very used to Bry’s company. After all, he had known her since they were babies and they seemed to have bonded from the moment they met, even if neither could not remember that moment.

Older Ary would have laughed if he knew Bry was frustrated that he wasn’t paying attention to her; then he would have given her all the attention. But young Ary? Well, he was quite oblivious. Should Bry decide to throw a tantrum there and then, she would surely have his attention. The baby mooncalf certainly was cute. Hippogriff, dragon, whatever creature it was, Ary immediately grew fond of it. Poor Bry having to deal with his obsession with them and not her at the moment.

Tonight was the night? “Yays!" he cheered, still not looking at Bry. “Have to ask daddy and papa to come backs then.” The boy very much wanted to be enchanted by the mooncalves and their dancing again. “Why not thats one? Wants that one.” he questioned forlornly, eyes focused on the same baby mooncalf.

Bry's sunshine <3

That there was the thing, it was hard to know for sure with Bryony whether or not a tantrum could have been avoided. Sometimes yes, other times no. On occasions if she felt in the mood she would carry on for what felt like ever for seemingly no real reason at all. Mostly just because she could. The more often she got her way, the more likely she was to pull out all her tricks to continue getting what she wanted. With Aryan though, most of her fits were never aimed at or about him. Nor did they ever last incredibly long when he was around. There was just something about him, he was her bonded person from the moment she had met him for the first time. Did he know how little he had been? He had been much tinier than her, she remembered that! Really she did! No, really she didn't but she did.

The young boy standing so close to her was very lucky that he was her boyiefwiend. Otherwise she was be incredibly upset with him already. The way he was still hadn't looked at her was very upsetting and if she also didn't like the mooncalf baby as much as she did she may have started crying on purpose right then and there.

Bry nodded. "Uh-huh." If he got to come back tonight then she wanted to come back too! She would have to let her mummy know about that. "Cause you can't just takes her away froms her mama. That's not nice."

Maybe she carried on that way for what seemed like eternity to him because she liked the attention too? At their current age, Ary did not know. As they got older, he thought that she sometimes did it to get his attention since it was usually taken up with something or the other: his muggle toys, creatures, focusing on learning as much as he could about running the Reserve from his fathers… Ary never judged Bry for her tantrums or even let them bother him. Perhaps he was the only one immune to Bry’s tantrums, except when she got too loud with her shrieks or words. Now, Ary had indeed been a tinier baby than most but did Bry really remember that? After all, they were the same age even if she had about eight months on him.

Unknowing to him, the fact that he finally turned his face in Bry’s direction and his eyes fixed on her face, probably made her the happiest girl in that moment. “You comes with me?” He already knew the answer so he wasn’t sure why he asked. Her next words had him mulling. “I don’t has a mama and I’m fine.” Ary never felt the need for a mama, anyway. His fathers loved him enough and he was content and happy with them. But Bry was right. Babies belonged with their parents. “What should we see nexts?”

Well obviously she liked the attention. All eyes were on her and everyone always wanted to make her happy. It was hard not to continue to throw tantrums when those around her caved into her and gave her whatever it was she had wanted in the first place. Bryony Rose Paton was very much spoiled and she knew it. The eight months age difference absolute did mean that she remembered (nope, no she didn't) Aryan arriving home to live with uncle Adi and uncle Benny.

Oh, this was very very true and the smile that suddenly appeared on her face was to show for it. "Yup!" When didn't she go wherever he was going? The two were inseparable when they were together. You're welcome for that Ary. "No but you haz two papa's that's loves you." Bryony turned to look at the baby mooncalf and then back to Ary. "Mummy will find you one that will be all for you." And that she could come visit at the reserve. "Ummm.. all the creatures?!" Duh, Ary! Didn't he know what a silly question that was by now?

Ary knew all about who spoiled Bry: Aunty Hady, Uncle Franky, his own daddy and papa and of course, Bry’s siblings. Though the spoiling surely ceased when her siblings went back to school. Ary for sure did not spoil her - not much, anyway. Bry didn’t try to change that; she probably sensed that he couldn’t stand much of the screaming and crying. Still, the little boy never considered wanting to take a step back from his friendship with her for such a petty reason. He simply put up with it all - no vacation was needed from being Bry’s bestest friend.

Seeing her big smile, he didn’t think of the fact that he had everything to do with it. Perhaps Bry was just happy to see all the creatures. It seemed that they had a date with the Mooncalf after sunset then. Ary really was looking forward to it; or rather, to seeing the dance. There was a nod from him. Yes, his fathers loved him very much and so did everyone else he came in contact with apparently. This had everything to do with why he never missed a mother’s love in his life. “Aunty Hady is the best evers.” Grinning, Ary gazed at the Mooncalves fondly once more then shifted his attention back to Bry. He made a face at her. “All the creatures,” he agreed. “But which nexts? You so silly, Bry.” Honestly, she was.

All of those people were culprits in the spoiling of the adorable Bryony Rose Paton. So was everyone else in her family and many others as well. She had a way of working herself into peoples hearts and using that to get whatever she wanted. She was cute and smart and she knew how to use it all to her own advantage. Not many tantrums were directed at Ary for the simple fact that he tended to give in to her wants right away. As long as she was getting her way, there was no need for all the screaming and crying.

Someday the young boy beside her would come to realize that he was the source of many many Bryony smiles. Heck to the yesssss, they had a date to watch the Mooncalf dance beneath the moonlight! They were going to have a blast. But that was hours from now. They had an entire day ahead of them to see all of the other creatures here at the zoo first. "Uh-huh! Mummy will make sure you gets the mostest perfect one! Only the very bestest would do. "Yesssss, all of dems! She made a face back at him that consisted of her sticking her tongue out at him and then giggling. "Dis way! To the petting areas! Bry grabbed hold of one of his hands already tugging him along excitedly like she didn't come here all of the time.

Bry definitely was smart if she had realised at such an early age that she could use her ‘charms’ on others and they would cave to her. Ary usually gave in because he could rarely stand the crying and fussing. Perhaps that's what it was like for others as well, and why they gave into her. Maybe it wasn’t that they found her cute, after all. Had you thought about that, Bry? Hmm?

Ary? The source of her smiles? It would be quite a few years before he understood this fact. In the meanwhile, they had the day to explore. Naturally, Aunty Hady would be there to keep an eye on them, unless she got busy and had to take them with her to some particular enclosure. Ary nodded happily, knowing that Aunty Hady would indeed do her best to ensure got the most proper Mooncalf. ‘All of dems’. Yes, the little boy understood this and Bry and her silly face that she made had him giggling too. Truly, she was a comic. Before he knew it, she was leading him by the hand to the petting area. Ary did not protest, used to her taking the lead in everything. This was one occasion in which he was only too happy to follow up so he took off, his feet moving as quickly as possible to keep up with her.

That wasn't at all how young Bryony saw it at all. In her bright blue eyes, she felt that Ary went along with what she wanted all of the time because he loved her and wanted to see her happy. Case and point. Whether or not he saw it like that was on him. Oh, see, she did know that to be very true at times. Hence why the tantrums came into play. When her adorable sweet self couldn't get whatever her little heart desired, she pitched a fit until she got it. Yup, she did things in true Bryony fashion.

One could only hope that young Aryan was up to the days task of keeping up with her as she quickly lead him along by the hand. Part of the way by running, another part by skipping and yet another part by hopping/leaping and twirling around. A bright smile remained on her face and she was giggling gleefully by the time they reached the petting area. "Where's to first?" Bry looked over at her boyiefwiend to see if he had any preference on which creatures they started with.

Well, Ary truly wanted Bry to be happy {that meant less tantrums and noise} and he did love her {though he would not admit it now - as much as he would never confirm to her or anyone else that he was her boyiefwiend} in his own way. Bry was surely bound to take things in the way she wanted to and that was fine with him. He was content being the quiet one. Bry was super crazy enough for the both of them. How did he wind up with her again?

Pffft. Ary could keep up with her. For eight years he had been doing this and had had so much practice. He was surely one of the few humans who could keep up with Bryony Paton. Whereas she chose to run and skip and whatnot, the little boy opten for running. Phew! It was quite the workout! Why was Bry giggling though? Ary was a bit puzzled. There hadn’t been anything to giggle about… right? The thought dropped away from his mind as he spotted the playground nearby. “Pet the Nifflers!’’ he announced gleefully. Ary even had Niffler friends in the form of Milo and Vinny. It was his turn to pull Bry by the hand, leading her in that direction.

Ummm, this was Bryony Paton they were speaking about. Therefore she was pretty much, almost always happy. Except for when she wasn't. In this moment in time, she was exploding with happiness. The eight year old was living her bestest life! The world was in the palm of her tiny hand and things could only get better!

If Bry was surprised that Ary had been able to keep in stride with her, she didn't show it. Being around the same size should somewhat help keep them in pace.. but not always. She waaaaas much more athletic than he was. That look of puzzlement on her boyiefwiend's face, yeah, it went completely unnoticed. All of her attention was on the playground and petting area that was quickly coming closer and closer. "NIFFLERS!!!" Bry squealed at the top of her lungs. Yes, she was smart enough to not do that around any of the creatures. Her smile was big and bright as she got tugged along towards them, her feet moving as quickly as they would carry her. "Wanna plays with the Bowtruckles too after?" She really liked those as well. And the crups and kneazles!

Yes, she was always happy. Except when Ary wasn’t paying attention to her. Bry probably was unhappiest when he wasn’t giving her the time of day than when she was denied something. However, this was just speculation. Okay, maybe it was based on observation.

Ary… just was content to stay in one place, playing with his Muggle toys or simply moving along at his own pace as he flitted about doing his own thing. Bry, on the other hand, had had so much practice with her ninja warrior training that she left him in the dust when it came to the athletic aspect of life. Poor Ary was the subject of being dragged around so many times. Not that he complained. The little boy always did his best to keep up with Bry. Today there was plenty of motivation to keep up courtesy of the creatures.

Aryan squeezed his eyes shut tight when Bryony shouted. Must she do that? He opened his eyes quickly because they had made it to the playground. “All of thems! Play with all of thems!” There was a Niffler coming towards them already! “Vinny!’’ Ary pointed out the Niffler he recognised to Bry. Vinny reached him and immediately started sniffing at his footwear.

True. True. And even more true. There was nothing false about any of that. Bryony knew what made her happy and when something didn't she did everything in her power to make things go her way until it did.

This was not her fault. She had been born to be a ninja warrior princess. Not always did she mean to drag Ary about and make him suffer through all that he did but he was such a great sport about it! There was hardly a time that he really complained and when he did, Bry would cave in and do what he wanted to do.. because it was him.

Yes, Aryan. Yes, she must. Bryony beamed at her boyiefwiend, nodding her head fast. "All of thems!" That was all the confirmation she needed from him. With a very happy giggling the small blonde dropped to her knees right where she was for some niffler playtime.

Come love her little nifflers!

Such a shrewd little girl she was. It made sense why she would be Sorted into Slytherin in a few years. But they all loved her still; she and her little antics. Ary honestly did not understand Bry’s obsession with being a Ninja Warrior, nor did he find all the training she did impressive but he certainly would always be a sport about it. Friends did that for each other, and he knew they were friends - not her boyiefwiend. Even if she injured him today, he would still allow himself to be dragged about into the thick of Ninja Warrior training tomorrow. Bryony was a lucky, lucky girl.

Ary plopped himself down on the ground beside Bry. Immediately Vinny leapt onto his laugh making the boy giggle. The cute, cuddly thing scurried into his arms, very much at ease with Ary. The two were obviously very familiar with each other. Vinny sniffed Ary then leaned his little head over in Bry’s direction, sniffing her - probably to check for any shiny thing on her person.

In her eyes she was a Ninja Warrior Princess. No ifs, ands or buts about it. This was her goal and the deadline to make it come true when she was nine was rapidly approaching. That in itself explained the serious increase in her training. Sorry Ary. It also wasn't her fault that nearly no one understood why she loved it the way that she did. Sometimes even she didn't fully understand why she was so obsessed with it but it was so much a part of her she couldn't change it.

Bry wasn't at all discouraged when Vinny the niffler went directly towards Aryan and she was ignored at first. The eight year old was very much aware of how well the boy beside her knew this particular niffler. It wasn't long though before that tiny sniffly niffler nose was sniffling at her making her giggling. "Hiya, Vinny." She reached out one hand to give him some pets. Her other hand searching her pockets for a shiny marbel that she thought she had with her.

Bry was free to be obsessed with whatever she wanted, even if it made no sense to Ary. The downside to her obsession was that she found it in her heart to drag him along on some of her training. Being athletic was not something that Ary excelled at. Despite the setback, he did try his best to climb the monkey bars and do all the other things that Bry required. She should be grateful that she had a friend like him.

Yes, Vinny and Ary were very good friends. Vinny had been the first Niffler that Ary had bonded with and after that first encounter, human and creature had never looked back. The little boy giggled too as he watched the encounter between Bry and Vinny. He had the feeling that Vinny was going to keep sniffing at the girl until she gave him more pets and something shiny.

Obsessed? This was not an obsession. Becoming a true junior ninja warrior princess by the time she was nine was a life goal! Yes, poor little Ary had become the one that she dragged around to train with her nearly all of the time but that's because she wanted to share something that was important to her with him.. because HE was IMPORTANT to HER! Maybe someday he would understand that too, just like one day he would understand why he was her boyiefwiend.

There was noway that Bryony would deny Vinny the petting that he sought from her. "Don't worry, it's in here somewhere's." The marble that is. A little more rummaging through her pockets and she had finally found it. Pulling a very shinny marble from her pocket, she held it out in the palm of her hand for Vinny to snatch up. "Sorry's it's not somethings better." Being eight years old, it wasn't often that she had coins on her to spare.

Life goal, obsession… older Ary would surely think they were the same in Bry’s case. He would even be worried about her and her extreme moves which may cause her injury. But eight year old Ary didn’t think much on the topic. He simply let Bry be. Somehow though, somehow he knew how important it was for Bry to share her ninja moments with him. It was definitely one of the reasons he went along with her, why he put up with the injuries and what seemed like torture to him. Ary probably did not really realise what he felt because he was always wrapped up in his world of muggle toys and dragons and hippogriffs. But he did know he was definitely not Bry’s boyiefweind.

Vinny kept sniffing at Bry and Ary kept looking in fascination at Vinny. The Niffler at least was patient and when he finally got the marble, he seemingly hugged it to himself. Ary thought that was very cute. By this time, Vinny’s friends were approaching them too. “More nifflers!’’ In delight, the little boy nodded two others out to Bry. “More marbles?” he asked his chatterbox friend. If not, he’d have to rummage through his own pockets to see what he came up with.

Little Bry, older Bry, either one would explain it as she always does. That it can't be explained. Like her need to want to always be around him can't be explained. There's just that need inside her and she can't stop it. With all of her energy wasn't it a good thing she was doing something active? Being a warrior was perfect for her and so was gymnastics and dancing and MMA and the drums and all the other insane things that kept her moving throughout the day.

All the sniffy sniffs had Bryony giggling up a storm, the smile on her face huge and bright. He was soooooooo cutes! The way he was hugging the marble made the small girl
'Aaww' at Vinny and give him little niffler head another gentle scratchy scratch. "Hi! Hi's!" Bry, wiggled a little in excitement. "I thinks so! Lets me check!" her hands were already searching all of her pockets for anything at all that the nifflers might like. Marbles, coins, anything at all that had a bit of shine to it.

Obsessed.

That was one word that surely can describe why she liked being around him. Don’t get him wrong, Ary didn’t mind since he was so used to her presence. After all, they had known each other since he had become an Atreyu-Rehman. Ary was always in awe of her being so active. Plus, it was a miracle she found the time for him when there was always something to occupy her attention. Just how did she do it?

They were all having a time of the day! It was clear from Bry’s giggles and Vinny’s delight with his gift. Vinny very obviously liked the little scratchy scratch. Ary was pretty sure he saw the Niffler’s eyes close for a bit. “Nows you know you has to bring more shinies next times, Bry.” The little boy hugged Vinny as he watched the two new Nifflers crowd Bry, waiting for their shinies.

Life goals.

The need to constantly be moving was something she didn't understand either and at her age she didn't care to understand. If she was busy, she was happy. The more active it was the better. As she got older, she began to slowly realize that Ary wasn't like her, he didn't enjoy these things and well.. as much as she wanted him it was okay that he didn't. She appreciated that he tried to for her.

Bry could've sat there all day give scratches to Vinny, if she wasn't getting herself surrounded by other Nifflers who wanted shinies now. "I knows that. I'll have to look through all the things in my room." A pile will have to be made of all the shinies that could be given to the nifflers. "Founds it! Here you go!" Pulling her hand from her pocket she held out a shiny thing for each of the nifflers to take. "Now maybe I can pets one of thems too." Keeps her now empty hand held out to be sniffed at.

She was cuckoo.

Ary really didn’t get the big deal about running around. He was content with being busy looking at the griffs and dragons, playing with his muggle toys and most recently, had developed the habit of bending paper clips into different outlines of other objects. It was a quiet life for him. Bry provided enough ‘chaos’ in his life already. Being the good friend that he was, he’d always support her even if his older self would be worried that she got hurt doing all those crazy training.

“I’ll helps you!’’ And he would also search his own room. Ary now had a box of paper clips that were very shiny. He’d bring those the next time he and Bry visited the zoo. Vinny was happy with his shiny apparently; the Niffler wasn’t paying attention to anyone but it. Ary peered down at the two other Nifflers. “Theys look happy. Maybe they will climbs in your hands.” Only time would tell!

Cutie pie, Ary! <3

That was the difference with him and Bry. It was hard for her to sit around and do nothing at all constantly. Sure, she enjoyed watching movies, playing with her toys or even playing video games but most of the time those things even required her to move around at some point. She couldn't help it that she was an active child and liked to be constantly moving. Poor boy, if only he saw the craziness that was Bry when he WASN'T around.

"Otay! We collects all the shiny for thems!" Nothing that would get them into trouble of course. Only little things like marbles and paper clips and such. Nods her head really fast, blonde hair flying about her face. "I woulds like that. I bets they woulds too.. my lap is really comfy." Bry beamed brightly at Ary trying to sit still now so one or maybe even.. BOTH of the nifflers would come sit with her! How lucky would she be if they both crawled up onto her lap?!

Um…

Ary wasn’t sure he wanted to see the extravagant shenanigans Bry got into when he wasn’t around. He could only imagine what they might be and he felt sorry for her siblings; especially Logan whom he knew she was close with. He suspected that Bry even drove poor little Bacon crazy at times. Still… Ary liked her, liked her company and wouldn’t trade her for another {best?} friend.

Indeed. Ary would go hunting for all the shinies with Bry. Between them, they would find a lot for their precious Niffler friends! The boy wouldn’t know about her lap being comfortable but the Nifflers could find out if they wanted to. He returned her smile and decided to help her with the task. “Milo. Mole.” Ary waved a hand at them. “Bry wants yous to sits with her.” He pointed at Vinny who was balancing on one of his own legs. “Likes Vinny!”

Would Milo and Mole listen?

Precious Ary! <3

Chances were, little Ary most definitely didn't want anything to do with any of the shenanigans Bry got herself into. He likely would've run away screaming long ago. Bryony on the other hand didn't know what anyone was complaining about, she was totally epic as was everything she came up. They were all simply jealous that they weren't on her level, as for Logan well... He was seriously letting her down as a big brother lately. Failing her completely and it was highly disheartening which only meant that she played harder obviously. Bacon on the other hand was her companion and he was the bestest she could ever ask for. If Aryan EVER chose anyone else for ANYTHING he did know the level of tantrum that would ensure, right?

Bry and Ary made the perfect pair, hence why he was her boyiefwiend. Together they would find loads of shinies and they would have all the Niffler friends! Ary didn't know her lap was comfy because he never sat on it before buuuuuuut if he wanted to he could, she wouldn't care! Maybe that would make the Nifflers want to come to her too! "Uh-huh, likes Vinny, see hims is supers comfy. Come on," she patted her lap lightly and then waited. And waited. ANNNNND waited even more. For what seemed like forever to an eight year old. Though it was maybe no more than a couple of minutes before Milo inched his way closer to her, sniff sniffing at her before scambering up onto her lap.

SQUEAL!!! Bryony beamed at Ary, trying to hold all her excitement in so as not to scare Milo away as she gave him pets. "Hi theres, Milo." SQUEEEE!!!!

Pffft, Bry.

Ary didn’t run away from things nor scream like a scaredy cat. If he did, he surely would have scrambled away from Bry a long, long time ago. Poor Bry. Logan was very bad for letting her down. It was too sad that he was occupied with other things - like Hogwarts. Bacon, like Ary, most likely did not have a choice in the matter. If either of them tried to make a run for it, a certain Ninja Warrior in training would come chasing! Oh, this little guy did know the horrible tantrum that awaited him if he ever chose anyone else both for himself and said chosen person. May there be mercy on their souls!

Ary had no further comment on the boyiefweind matter. None at all. But he could not disagree that he and Bry were awfully good together. No thanks, Bry! He liked sitting on the ground quite fine! Besides, this spot offered a great view of the other Nifflers. Vinny was still busy with his shiny so Ary gave the other two Nifflers soft words of encouragement. “Bry does nots bites. She good.” His words did the trick! You’re welcome! He beamed right back at her. Since he knew her well enough, he warned, “Don’ts do ninja moves. You scare them.”

No, Ary wasn't a scaredy cat. He was very brave when it came to the griffs and dragons. And sometimes when it came to handling Bry situations. There were other times when Bry was careful not to include him in things she did because.. well because she knew he wouldn't be interested. Yes, interested was the best word. She was very glad that he at least knew that no one could come between him and her, there bond was strong. Anyone who tried would have a serious problem on their hands. He was hers!

He never did because he knew it was true! That was his loss. More room for the little Nifflers to sit on. Her lap was only so big, you know. "Oh, nos.. I nos bites." Bry shook her head of blonde hair. There would be no biting here. Well, okay, she did bite but she would NEVER bite a creature. Logan, yes but not a creature. More gentle pets for Milo until Mole came close enough for pets too. Bry turned her head towards Ary and blinked at him. "Why woulds I do thats? I no wants to hurts dem." Silly Ary. She knew better than that.

Griffs and dragons!

Yes, Ary was very brave when it came to those and other creatures. He was lucky to have inherited that love for creatures from his fathers. Having Aunty Hady’s family around helped too since they also were fond of creatures. He supposed he also needed to be brave about the fact that he was already claimed by Bry. For now, though, Ary was simply ignoring that fact. Yep. He didn’t know what you were talking about, Bry.

Just like he didn’t know about being your boyiefweind. Ary looked around as Vinny shuffled around on him. The little boy let the niffler do as he pleased; in any case, it was a joy to watch Vinny scoot around. “Becos you mights forgets theys there.” Didn’t Bry know that she can sometimes just start doing athletic things? Without warnings too? “Don’t think we can moves now. Nifflers takes over us!”

There was no denying that Griffs and Dragons were completely epic and very very high up on Bry's list of creatures that she absolutely loved! And getting to be around/see them as much as she did was incredible, no complaints from her. Well almost none. She still wanted to fly on a dragon and have her very own baby dragon but everyone said she was still much too young. SIGH.

Excuse you, Aryan! Be brave? He should be HONORED! Boys could be so rude. Yet he was hers no matter what he said, he could deny it all he wanted to cause he was just being a pain in the behind.

Ugh! Come on! Everyone knew that he was! She said so all of the time since probably the moment she could talk. It's not her fault everyone taught she was being cute and no one really believed her.. and he only made it worse by saying it wasn't true. Stubborn boy that he was. "Nah-uh's. I nots gonna do dat when dem's on my lap." She wasn't silly enough to scare the Nifflers away with her ninja stuff. "I don't minds. I can sits right here alls day." As long as she had a Niffler on her lap to keep cuddling with that is.

Bry was lucky she was his friend. And that his fathers owned a Reserve that housed dragons and griffs because how else would she get to see those creatures so frequently? Ary knew that it would be a while before he and Bry were able to take a ride on either because they both were still babies. Raj was the only of his siblings allowed and Ary often watched his older brother in awe with a hint of envy.

Excuse you, Bryony! He was brave for putting up with you on a daily basis! He was her friend for sure; that much he would not deny.

Ary just nodded. Sometimes, it was just best to stay silent just because. He wouldn’t push it by saying that he thought that Bry could get overly excited. He also knew she was very gentle and understanding with creatures. This meant that he knew the Nifflers were in good hands. Or lap. The little boy turned his attention back to Vinny who was still having the time of his life with the shiny. “Thinks we should leaves thems to thems fun. We go see other creatures?”

Kolyander 10-21-2022 01:24 PM

Ahem! He was lucky too. She was an Ah-mah-zing! friend!!! Won't ever say a bad thing about Uncle Adi or Uncle Benny and the reserve. Does find it unfair that they can't take rides on the Griffs of Dragons yet but is doing her very VERY best to wait as patiently as she can. Accepts each and everything she is allowed to do there at the reserve with pride and respect. And she isn't a baby Aryan!

He didn't need to be brave to be her friend! Gosh, he was making it sound like she was terrible! She was a lovely friend! Overly excited, extremely hyper, mega clingy, too loud, sometimes bossy and well.. she was Bryony Rose Paton.. but she was also so much more than that too.

Bryony was being extra calm and very still so as not to scare her Niffler buddy away. "Umm.. otays. I gives him a pets again before I puts him down." Which is exactly what she did. Some gentle pettings to his head before she carefully lifted Milo up off of her lap and onto the ground. "Go on and have fun with your shinies, Milo. I'll see you later." With that, Bry got to her feet.

Ary wasn’t exactly sure if he was lucky. Kidding, Bry! He knew he was. Bry did help him in her own way, even if she threw tantrums and cried. He would like to think that he showed appreciation of that by allowing Bry to play with his vehicle toy collection and by letting her stay over at his parents house so often. If she could only be a little patient - like he was being - soon enough she would be interacting with all the griffs and dragons.

The little boy followed Bry’s lead and petted Vinny and the other nifflers he could reach, They were so cuddly! If only he could take one home! A Niffler and a Mooncalf! Ary hugged Vinny then set him down. “Bye, nifflers! Sees you another day. Come on, Bry! We go sees more creatures.” Ary headed off, really wanting to see the others for the hundredth time.

Boyiefwiend! <3

Bryony knew that Aryan knew that he was lucky so there was no worries there. Obviously she helped him. She taught him how to block things out.. Like lots of noise. AKA, her throwing her tantrums, unless of course said tantrum was aimed at him than she wasn't to be ignored no matter what the young boy did. Yes, she very much always appreciated when he shared any of his things with her and she always in turn shared anything and everything she had with him, not that he always liked what it might be. Sorry, not sorry for all of the sparkly, shiny, glittery stuff. And when it came to staying at his home.. Well that.. nothing compared to that. Bry loved those days/nights and was always on her very bestest behavior (or as bestest as a Bryony could be). Patients was still very much a work in progress and she was slowly getting there. It was more diffcult with somethings than others. Like the promise of petting Griffs and getting to fly on Dragons!

The nine year old knew there was no way they could ever walk away from the niffler pen without petting every single one that was within their reach. Not that she minded that one bit. This was simply routine for the two of them. Did Bry know of Ary's dream of owning a Niffler and a Mooncalf? She sure did.. and ummm.. as his girlyfwiend, she was working on it as bestest as she could!!! "Sees you laters, sniffie niffies!" Bry giggled, reaching to take hold of Ary's hand as she always did pretty much out of pure habit now. This time she was more as she let him take the lead in their creature expedition.

Athena was at peace. She loved the zoo and all of the beasts within. Since she was a girl she loved animals and the bond they seem to create so easily with others. She found them to be mostly peaceful creatures that could read humans very well.

She always trusted animals over humans. It was always simpler this way. Although she needed to pay more attention as she walked right into someone else. "Oh! I'm so sorry!"

One of the biggest switches that happened between attending university and working a steady job was the hours. The weekdays found him solely in the ministry nowadays. He was still occasionally on call on the weekends though it hadn’t come up as of yet. So he had the free moment to meet up with a friend on Saturday, opting for the more subdued location of the Scamander Zoo than the hustle and bustle of Diagon Alley and the environs.

Purchasing a ticket, he let his feet walk him across the threshold and activating the magical interior of the lobby where he could wander until Hartley found him seeing as he didn’t spot him there already. A pamphlet in hand from the ticket lady explaining just what was happening that day and where to find things.

Hartley Stonewall wanted to… No. He needed to check up on Noah. It wasn’t just out of habit, a remnant from their Hogwarts days where Hartley had found himself taking care of Noah and Grace. He just wasn’t sure his friend was fully okay after what went down with the Neo Alliance. Such things took time to get over. The fact that Hartley had graduated from Hogwarts immediately after then took off to study at Wizarding University in Cairo probably didn’t help Noah. Visits during Hogsmeade weekends and holidays were all they had to make do with at that time. Visits were more frequent when Noah started University though. And now that he was with the British Ministry… well, Hartley needed to know that Noah was settling in.

The Historian strode quickly towards the lobby after grabbing a ticket. Knowing Noah, he would be there already. It really didn’t take long for him to spot that familiar mop of brown hair. Opting for a little sneak attack, Hartley approached from behind and only when he was close enough did he speak. “Hi, you!” He threw an arm around his friend’s shoulders.

Tof had fewer and fewer reasons to be in the United Kingdom these days outside of work ever since he and Stephanie had parted ways, so he supposed he could thank the Dark traders in Knockturn Alley for his presence at the moment. Thank was far too generous a word and he was certain that the wizard's nose who had been on the receiving end of his fist was far from thankful the Polish gentleman was back in country. But, since he was here for an extended period while assisting with the dismantling a rather notorious smuggler ring, the dragonoligist figured he may as well book himself some sightseeing while he had Kochanie at Magical Menagerie for a pup spa day.

He had never actually been to the zoo here and he was not quite sure how he felt about zoos in general, but it was nice to observe creatures that were not colossal and capable of turning him into the afternoon roast should he misstep slightly around their scaly bodies. Not to say that the elephant sized feline before him wasn't impressive, one simply had a different sort of threshold when one was a dragonologist.

Pivoting forward slightly as something, apparently someone, bumped into him, Tof turned his attention towards the striking creature who had elicited said pivot and offered a jovial shake of the head and matching smile. "No fretting," he replied, his accent thicker these days due to his distance from the English language. It was almost a wonder she had not bounced right off him considering the juxtaposition of their sizes.

Noah wasn’t his father…he wasn’t on 100 percent alert most of the time. But then he didn’t suddenly start either when he found an arm slung around his shoulder just a second or two after a familiar voice said hello. But then it wasn’t like he wasn’t expecting Hartley to make an appearance eventually since they were supposed to be meeting up here. “Who me?” he asked, a touch of jest in his voice as he turned his head to look at his best friend. His expression kept neutral for the moment to follow the tease.

“Sure you weren’t looking for another you?” There were a few other people in the lobby and no doubt around the zoo he could claim if he really wanted to. But then he let a soft smile grace his features, the historian being one of those who certainly had a positive affect on his mood.

Hartley didn’t think he could stand it if Noah turned into someone who was as focused as Uncle Simon. Don’t get him wrong, he loved the man but Hartley did think that sometimes he was too much on edge. Then again, Hartley’s own father could be like that. An absolutely horrific thought occurred to him. Was he looking at what Noah would become in the future in the form of Uncle Simon and his father? No, nope, nuh uh! Hartley refused to let this happen! The friends needed to plan a trip to someplace that would be packed with fun. Maybe that’ll also help Noah’s mellowed out mood since that particular year at Hogwarts.

The older man rolled his eyes, smirking. “No, your twin brother.” Hartley could definitely joke right back. “Do you want me to look for someone else?” he continued innocently. He wouldn’t, not when Noah was in his company but Hartley could definitely and easily charm man or woman. There was that smile he was familiar with since they were children. “Where shall we head first, No?”

Right…his twin brother. So funny he forgot to laugh there, Hartley. There were only TWO Bennett siblings…the only twins were his cousins from the side of Uncle Josh and Aunt Evelyn. “Really? I wonder how I missed him.” The former Hufflepuff looking around the lobby area as if in search for his missing twin. You would think that would someone you would notice in your wanderings. He certainly would have noticed Grace around there somewhere if only because she could be more outgoing.

“Of course not, Hart,” he said poking the other man's arm. That would just be wasting time as amusing as it might become with his friend’s usual antics. “How about Greece?” he suggested, thinking on the Grecian Pavilion from previous visits. It was as good a place as any to begin their tour. And there were cool animals to be found there.

Hartley shrugged playfully. “He’s like a ghost. One second he’s there then POOF! He’s gone.” There was a stifled laugh as Noah glanced around for this twin of his. Honestly, Noah was such a sport for putting up with all this silliness throughout the years, though Hartley wondered if anyone ever noticed that he went out of his way to be sillier in Noah’s company. It was only something he had started doing after Noah’s fifth year in an effort to keep his friend’s spirit lifted.

“It’s settled then! Not looking for anyone.” Yes, this meant Noah had his undivided attention. There was one last squish to Noah’s shoulder - at the same time Hartley was poked - before the older man nodded. Sure! Chimaeras, and griffins and Sirens! Oh my! Let’s go then, and you can tell me all about life at the Ministry while we’re at it.”

It was his turn to roll his eyes as his best friend continued. “Well then it would be a wild diracrawl chase to try and look for him.” Good thing they had settled on looking for anyone else and moving on to enjoying the visit to the zoo. Not wasting time looking for vanishing brothers or birds. “Going on a flying monkey hunt?” he mused in step with Hartley’s choice of words remembering the muggle movie in question as they headed where the signs pointed them towards their destination.

“Ah…where to begin?” It wasn’t like he had been there long and had that many stories to tell. “ How about getting used to the fact that my immediate boss, Ms. James, can be just like our dads.” He may have escaped Level 2 as a position within the ministry, but not the entirety of the atmosphere. And they were still working on what to call each other.

Oh, his best friend had a joke or two!

Of course, this sort of thing always made Hartley pleased. Why? He still worried about Noah. This old habit of his, he supposed, would die hard. “Can’t afford to waste any time since we’ve got so much to catch up on so I guess we should just let him be for today.” He was certain that Noah would prefer his undivided attention anyway.

The beginning would be a very good place to start; Hartley was about to point this out but figured he might want to get a little serious should Noah not think he really wanted to know about the Ministry. “Uptight? Too focused? No, wait. Overly focused?” Because their dads could indeed be that way though Hartley could joke that Uncle Simon had trained Jory this way. “Is she and everyone else good to you?” This was an important question.

Hmmm uptight wasn’t quite right to him in describing the woman, Hartley’s other option more fitting to him. “Definitely focused,” he confirmed with a nod, reminded of that first day as they came upon the first stone columns of the exhibit. “And formal so far…” he added, “I almost expect Dad to be there when she calls out Bennett.” The personal assistant remembered the stories from his father and that law enforcement tended to prefer the surname. In fact were they both in the same place at the same time it would take a moment to see who anyone was calling for.

“Yeah…for the most part, “ Noah answered. There was that moment when he had first arrived in the department but he couldn’t blame the security officers for that. That had been all his father and his secret message of support to him. Not that it hadn’t concerned him greatly at first, thinking he might have been in trouble.

‘Focused’ was definitely one of the words that could be used to describe their fathers. ‘Formal’ as well. “Say no more! I’ve got a full picture of her already.” It amused the Historian to the max to hear about the possible confusion that could ensue. “Before long you’ll be making your own mark at the Ministry, and you won't be questioning whether it's Uncle Simon everyone wants. Also, I have a valid question: when is he thinking of retiring, do you know? It seems he’s been working for an eternity.” Not that Hartley’s opinion of his own dad was any different. Maybe it was just his imagination.

“For the most part?” Hartley question, a perfectly manicured eyebrow. “Do I need to choose violence with someone?” Or someones? Because if anyone ever gave his friend a difficult time… He stared out at the Chimeras who’s enclosure they had just come across. Such beautiful creatures. Fierce and beautiful. Like Hartley.

Noah nodded, hoping it came sooner rather than later. It was one of the downfalls of his father’s large shadow over the ministry with his 40+ years there. Speaking of which…“I have no clue,” he remarked in all honesty. “I do remember overhearing he and mum talking about it…after the war and his injuries…and Dad just said he wasn’t ready to then.” A few years had passed since and his father had returned to the ministry after his recovery and seemed to be settling right back into things. Didn’t seem like it was going to be a near future thing.

“No…no…” Noah tried assuring his friend with a light chuckle. “Not unless you want to fight my dad. Pretty sure he set his staff up to play a small trick on me when I first arrived. No big deal.” Especially once he had in fact been found on the security list and Ms. James had brought him properly into the fold. Given the stories of his dad’s own first days, it was mild.

“We have much in common, you and I, young Noah,’’ Hartley remarked in a forlorn tone as though this were the saddest thing on the planet. “Our fathers have thick skulls. They are also married to their job. Our poor mums.” Then his tone reverted to normal. “I get that. My dad’s following in your dad’s footsteps, I think, as he doesn’t even like the subject of retirement coming up.” Uncle Simon had certainly trained Jory well.

Fight Uncle Simon? “I’d lose within a second if it were a duel.” Like… that man was highly skilled; Hartley didn’t even come close. But maybe in a war of words, yes. The Historian would be in his element! “Nice welcome present he got you,’’ he said, highly amused. His gaze was still fixed on the Chimaeras, wishing he could get closer to them.

Noah rolled his eyes as his bestie went all wise elder on him. “Yeah…poor mums,” he agreed with a nod matter of factly. “Though we can’t totally complain about that relationship to their jobs…it did bring our dads together.” And thus, the two of them growing up together. Come to think of it, his dad in turn took after his brother as Uncle Jonathan hadn’t been looking to retire either and he had been both an active auror and several years the elder Bennett.

He couldn’t help chuckle at the image of said duel knowing his friend wasn’t lying, thankfully pushing the previous sad thoughts of his uncle away. But then it truly was a happy thought given how close his father had come to not being able to properly grip a wand again. Not that he was a slouch in the wandless magic department. “I suppose his version of going along with my wish to treated normally.” And not the son of one of the longest serving ministry employees.

Leave it to Noah to be serious when Hartley was trying to have a moment of jest. But! He was quite used to it so the conversation was regulated in that direction. “I suppose that’s true. Your dad’s life would have been a little less fun without my dad around.” Though Noah’s life would have been faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar less joyful without Hartley around. Of this he was sure.

Hartley never said it but anyone who tried to fill Uncle Simon’s shoes would have the job cut out for them, figuratively and literally, he supposed. “Good! That means he’s also determined to let you be your own person. Just don’t get too caught up in work.” By that he meant ‘don’t let the job become wife, husband, whatever’. Life needed to be lived freely and not tied down in any sort of manner.

It felt nice being in the United Kingdom again. While it had only been a year she last participated in an international WADA performance festival (as was the nature of annual events), it felt like a lifetime ago since she had been visiting. Perhaps it was because of all the steps she had taken for the betterment of her life, the purging of certain toxicities, that made her feel this way...but it was none the less a breath of fresh air to be back. Seeing Baylen again had been lovely too and how much his dance studio had grown she she had last been under his tutelage. He had opened her eyes to hiplet and her relationship with dance had never been the same, for the better. The performance festival weekend over now, she had allowed for a couple of extra days in the United Kingdom to sightsee as well as hopefully meet up with Beauxbatons friends who had moved here for university. Today was a special kind of day as she walked through the zoo hand in hand with David. Perhaps even harder to believe was that their Atlantis accidental vacation had been a year ago and now...

Blushing while she skipped to avoid a crack in the pavement, Delilah adjusted the strap of her backpack and tucked some of her curls behind her ear. "You know...I am not certain I can remember the last time I've been to the zoo. It may have been before I even began Beauxbatons."

Time really did fly. David will be honest he had no idea there was even a zoo here. He wasn't the biggest zoo fan in the world anyway so maybe it was too be expected when the exterior was the way it was and he was oblivious to the insides or knowledge. But it was a nice day and happy just to spend it with her looking at animals. He was surprised by just how busy she was with the festival and friends. Here all he did was chill. See if anyone he knew was still around and eat. So really nothing. He really was slacking on some assignments he had to finish this summer. But lets forget about those for a weekend.

At this point he couldn't even tease her about skipping over cracks since he steps over them subconsciously now also.

"How did you even hear about this zoo?...i think i have been to one zoo in my life and someone threw food at one of the animals"

It was funny to him as a child but looking back on it on. Poor gorilla.

At least at the zoo there was no change for them really lose track of time and miss the last bus to anywhere. One could much more easily disapparate than one could try to (and failing to) negotiate in broken Mermish for one last submarine topside. Much easier to keep track of the sun here as well.

"Mostly from the WADA students," she laughed softly and fussed with her curls a little bit more before giving his arm a small squeeze to gently signal to him to slow down so that she could look t the giant zoo map off the side of the path they were on. "It...came recommended to me as a good date spot. For couples. I heard there are actual thunderbirds here..." Delilah's head snapped back around as David spoke, eyes widening to spooked owl level. "...threw....at one of the creatures? Not as...one of the zoo feedings but ... to be cruel?"

This time if they somehow lose track of time they will have some employees who just want the day to be over tell them to leave. Which in David's opinion is much nicer than have to spend money and spend a night. Even if they outcome of that was more than he could ever imagine. The broken mermish was amusing tho. Not going to lie. It was also a highlight. "Well ill take that over where the best place to party is" Which is what he thought wada students knew best. That and bore him to death on musical theory. Sorry no matter how many times someone says its interesting he finds it horribly boring. The squeeze was received and he slows down for whatever she wants to look at.

Wow if she didnt stop him he would have missed this map enitrely. Crazy how that happens.

Ooooh. Ooooooh.

"Does that mean there are secret secluded benches for us to snog on" Date spot and all. He was joking. He will just enjoy being here with her. Have you seen a thunderbird before?"

He hasn't and now that she mentioned it kinda did want to see one. Well only if its not sleeping because that would be boring.

Hartley, in fact, did not need more explanation. He grasped the sentiments that came with the words quite clearly. He simply grinned, but on the inside there was a feeling like soft and gooey marshmallows. “I think… we should go for the Horse Paddocks! I hope there are little unicorns around. The last time I was here, they were all grown up.” And with that, Hartley led the way to the Paddocks.

He did know Noah; perhaps among the few who really knew him. Still, it could not hurt to warn him about being married to the job. “That sounds very promising then.” Hartley gazes out and over to the unicorns. He needed to get going soon; the Ministry in Argentina required his assistance and given the time difference between the UK and Argentina, it was just touching the afternoon hours in the South American country.

Delilah was remarkably easy to please, so even the dingiest of places would feel like a fantastic party to her. Not that she went to many of those these days. Not since Olivier had forced her to face the music and dragged her into the headmistress' office at Beauxbatons at least. Unless afternoon teas counted. She had a lovely group of friends at WADA Paris who did afternoon tea and flash mob dances at the local parks and shopping centers. They were apparently amassing quite the following and she truly enjoyed doing it all. "We could try...clubbing together sometime...if you'd like..." she offered timidly. Always with the self deprecating thoughts, she often worried that she was too plain and too square and the moments she had been forced out of her comfort zone made her more interesting. Even if, truly, just walking through the park or some gardens hand-in-hand was more than enough. Or the beach. She had a soft spot for the beach.

Her thoughts were on sunset walks along the beach when David spoke and it took her several more seconds of processing before she was turning into her signature blossoming rosy cheek look and lightly shoving his arm. "David," she hissed through her meek but impish smile as she hid her face in his shoulder. She highly doubted said question was entirely in jest. "No...not unless you count textbooks and postcards. Hopefully we will today ... and I think... on the brochure it lists times their aviary is stormy and they are most likely in motion. " Raincoats and zephyr resistant umbrellas provided at the entrance.

"...I hope we see no one exhibit such behavior today..." And if they did that David did something about it because she would probably be too horrified in place to do much of anything but gawk in disgust.

David did try to keep the dingiest of places to a minimum unless it was like an historical place. Which even then he keeps to a minimum. He likes seeing her smile and well those kinds of place it seems like would not accomplish that outcome. Wait a second what did she just offer to do?? He was distracted by some yelling behind him and just heard the words clubbing?

"We could...... just be warned i would not be able to keep my hands off you"

Of all the things she could have offered them to do. Clubbing was at the bottom of the list. A beach date yes or even a picnic. Those seemed more likely than clubbing. Picnic than trip to the beach is genius. They should do that once the weather gets a tiny bit warmer. A big smile appeared on his face when she say how red she got. He would never say no but he was sure the odds of that happening were like 5 percent at best. "I think we have some luck leftover and hope we can see one. Love to see one with you" Than tease her about the color of the umbrella she picks. Sadly he would do nothing about that other than steer than both away from the exhibit and try and not put a damper on their date.

David. Historic ruins and dingy establishments were not synonymous!

She had, yes. It was still shocking to herself and his words only served to fluster her. Initially she did not hear the words the way he obviously intended them and nearly spoke on reflex to how he wouldn't need to worry about that because chances were that she was going to be too overwhelmed and unlikely to let go of his hand once they entered the establishment. That still was likely to be true, but her brain had finally caught up with processing the Davidisms and thus she lightly bumped him with her hip and giggled. "You are positively incorrigible."

And that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

"Suppose the only way to know is to head over to that exhibit and find out...but doesn't look like that will be available for another hour or so..." she observed, cheeks still very very rosy, as she looked over the pamphlet and checked the time tables for scheduled appearances and feedings. "Oh my goodness...there is a troll ballet!"

THEY WERE TO HIM...though maybe he needs to visit more but all that time and effort when he can just do nothing but watch stuff on his phone all day.

At this point he was used to her not getting the intended meaning of his words. David rolled with it anyway since it was fun. Just not the overwhelmed part since it would take til they were home for her to calm down at that point and yeah David did not want that! Davidisms were a thing now huh. Guess this is a consequence of his own actions. Horrible things those are.

"Thank you Thank you. I was trying there. And hoping i wasn't negatively incorrigible"

He had no idea what that meant. She was right he wasn't looking at the sign so they had an hour to chill. He nodded in understanding. Which in this case his joking idea before was seeming better and better.

"Troll....ballet???....my interest is peaked. Will i be as entertained as watching you perform?"

Ok he tried a little too hard there

Tell us you are not a History of Magic major without telling us you are a History of Magic major, David.

Delilah tucked her pamphlet back into her little shoulder bag and looped her arm back through David's. "No...I suppose it isn't a particularly negative context," she laughed softly as she lifted up on to her one foot in a very casual arabesque so she could elongate her neck enough to leave a soft kiss upon his cheek. They could revisit the possibility of clubbing and hands at another time since they now had a destination in mind and time to be kept. "You'll have to tell me," she laughed again and began taking humble strides towards the path that would lead them to the troll enclosures. "I wonder how their ballet skills will compare to your own," she teased with a light hum.

David always made an honest effort whenever she tried to teach him a dance step or two and really was not as terrible as he often tried to proclaim himself to be. He hadn't ever stepped on her, fragile, toes and that was more than she could say for some of her WADA Paris dance partners.

"There isn't too much time before it is set to start though..." she added while subconsciously adding a skip to her step.

David was in fact not a history of magic major if that was not obvious from everything about him. He was an engineering major. Which might be worse?

Oh no, the pamphlet was going away. That meant things were getting serious. And look at that he will count not being negative as a win and he got a cheek kiss out of it. Now clubbing was a subject for them to talk about at a more serious time. But knowing them it will happen with both of them in bed and they are both exhausted and making important decisions.

"As long as you think I'm more attractive than a troll. I can live with that while also being worse at ballet than them"

Making his way with her toward the trolls. Oh he looks at his phone. Since all it was good for right now was being a watch. She was of course right like usual and he gave a sigh. It was his fault for being a lazy walker.

"Want me to princess carry you there. Might be the fastest way?"

No them running would be but where was the fun in that!
