| | | Meet sweetpinkpixie HEY! HELLO! HOW ARE YOU?!
My name is Katherine (though around these parts I am more widely known as Kath, Pixie, and Pix) and it is my pleasure to be your meet 'n' greet site staffer for January....2019! So a very VERY Happy New Year to all you SSers out there
I first came to Snitchseeker by complete chance back in 2010 when I was googling movie times in Tokyo, Japan (where I have permanent resident status but am a born and raised California girl) and found a site notice where the news team was seeking someone in Japan to report on an event being held in Tokyo. So I signed up, volunteered my name, got to go to the event, and then never left!
I've dabbled all over Snitchseeker since, holding roles and positions such as since joining including serving Astronomy professor (and Gryffindor Head of House) in the School RPG, Diagon Alley shopkeeper, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Prophet and a handful of other positions. Currently I serve as the Ministry of Magic RPG admin where I play the Minister for Magic as well as the department head for the Department of Mysteries. I am also on the moderation team for Honeydukes: Fanfiction and Platform 9¾, here! Other positions include managing the School RPG's Yearbook, serving as the male Hufflepuff prefect and Head Boy in the Hogwarts RPG, and act as the site's news correspondent for Japan.
Outside of the Snitchseeker sphere I am a mother of two (ages 6 and 2 as of January 2 and January 12, respectively), an English tutor to elementary school kids at a private 'daycare' (from morning until the afternoon it functions as a families of small children cafe and then becomes after school care from afternoon until late evening), a coloring book fan (it's my downtime every evening to regroup with myself over an audiobook once the boys are asleep), a fan of tea and Starbucks specialty drinks, Youtuber spirals easiler consume me, strongly hate the worst moist, have a weakness for reality TV, and a soccer fan (have played since I was 5 and I coach as well!).
That's more than enough for no...so please feel free to ask me anything! Quote:
Ask me a question to get to know me better! (questions about the site or your sorting or posts don't belong here, those should be asked in the Questions and Answers thread)
Spam will be deleted, as will any non question posts, or posts that indicate you haven't read this first post.

Hey, Kath! Happy New Year!
Gosh, it's so hard to believe that Derf is a seventh year. I still see him as that little kid who made Henry a chocolate frog card.... he'd be so proud to know he was head boy now.
Anyway... I guess I have some questions for you...
1. What originally brought you to Japan?
2. What is your favorite audiobook that you read last year?
3. A favorite RP memory?

1. Pretty standard, but to exercise more. I am on my feet a LOT keeping up with my rugrats and biking here and there (it's my primary mode of transportation since I do not have a car), but none of that is exercise for me. So I want to get out more and just take walks or do some light things in the house. Having Pokemon GO on the phone helps motivate the walking at least
2. GOSH I KNOW! I first played him at a Ministry event back when he was 3 months old so it is WILD to me.
3. Right now they are constructing train tracks together. We have enough to circumnavigate the apartment (which is possible the way the sliding doors function and are positioned) so it's lovely to watch. It's Ryoma's birthday today so I am SO glad they are getting along while I work on his cake Quote:

LMAO Oh yes that. You were the first recipient of one of those ghetto manips
1. .......Sailor Moon Well, okay Sailor Moon initially sparked my interested. I used to wake up and watch it at 7 am on TV before heading off to school and noticed that there were just some aspects that did not make sense. Why were people taking off their shoes? What were these odd looking lunch boxes? Those school uniforms were like nothing I had ever seen. Priestess what? So, because NETSCAPE was just blossoming back then, I went to the internet and found out it was from Japan...and my interest just peeked. The more I learned about the culture, the more the anime I watched made more sense and had an impact on me. My first time to Japan was when I was a junior in university and I was a part of an exchange program and I had an amazing experience. My host family became my second family and they are still a part of my life to this day - grandparents and aunts and uncles to my boys.
2. Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. WOW.
3. Gosh it's really hard to choose from I don't think it is possible to pick just one SO I am going to pick my favorite RP memory with you which is also really difficult to do can I just compliment you as an RPer? Because I have always loved how you take initiative to RP with anyone. It's really admirable and it's always fun to play with you. It's your initiative who gave us Jaecar and Noemi and there is a dynamic I never thought would evolve to the way it has now and just

Kat!! Firstly, Happy Birthday to Ryoma who has such a cool name, by the way. Now, time for the questions, my beloved fellow badger.
1. When you are developing your vast array of characters, do you base them on real-life people or events in your life or do you look to your favourite characters in assorted media?
2. What meal do you love making for your family?
3. Can you name your current top five songs and do they each have a personal meaning to you?
Thanks for being an amazing friend, sweetie |

1. What Audiobook are you listening to at the moment?
2. Have you not been able to listen to any because of the narration?
3. So... I heard through the grapevine that you like SURVIVOR! Who is your favourite player? (Is it Cochran??)
4. Do you also have a bit of a crush on Jeff Probst?

Thanks for being an amazing friend, sweetie heeeeeey you you know, I've never actually been called Kat as a nickname Aw, thank you. He was named after Sakamoto Ryoma - famous samurai in Japanese history
1. I would say it is a mixture of both those....and then neither of those for example, my first ever RP character, Kurumi, was based loosely on my host sister and my Astronomy professor and now Mysteries department head, Airey, has a lot of my dad's quirks. Charles, my Minister for Magic character, is in homage to one of my favorite characters from Fullmetal Alchemist. But Derf just sort of....formed in my head and long before the Fantastic Beasts films were a reality. But it is striking how many similarities he shares with Newt Scamander and all the more fitting that he has idolized this magizoologist since he was in diapers.
2. sukiyaki and nabe also meatloaf (they have no idea the vegetables I have hidden away in there ) and mashed potatoes
3. oh gosh...I hardly listen to music these days though most of the music I have been given to listen to are from SSer and dear friend Samia and they almost always induce character feelings *rolls around* Quote:

4. Do you also have a bit of a crush on Jeff Probst? helloooooooo
1. The Diary of a Hounslow Girl. It's an Audible original
2. I have not been around the block enough for that just yet, so so far all of them have been okay for me!
3. OMG HOW DO YOU EVEN PICK ONE?! I do like Cochran, but I am not sure he is my favorite I'm a sucker for Ozzy because...he is Ozzy. Rupert is someone I want to be friends with. Russel was just so fun to watch and I loved every moment of him. I had a serious crush on Yul I ADORED Christian, a contestant on the most recent season. I have a sort of soft spot for Jerri and her cowboy hat, though I was never really ever rooting for her. Parvati and Cirie are both players who I also admire their game play....yeah. I can't pick. Don't make me
4. I DO LOVE JEFF! He is such an instigator and button pusher but I love how he just genuinely LOVES the game and being a part of it. I always read the weekly interviews he gives with his take on what we all just saw on the most recent episode and he is just such a precious bean. There really is no show without him.

HI! Have I ever told you how I love the symmetry of your name in all lower case, as sweetpinkpixie. It's great.
I suppose that isn't a question, in it's own right.... SOOOO my question is, have you planned on introducing Harry Potter into your boys life?
And do you have a favourite "time" on SS?

2. What's your favorite all time anime?
3. Paper or Plastic?
4. Chocolate or vanilla? 5. Do you think I'm funny? wait- don't asnwer that one.
also 5. Do you sing in the shower?

I don't know why the all caps. That was just a tad extra
I actually already HAVE introduced them to it. Technically while both were still in the womb I was gifted a pair of sound canceling headphones and I played the audiobooks into my stomach. I also read the books to my oldest at night time as a bed time story once a week (he gets restless without pictures) but we had to stop doing that when his little brother came around because someone can't keep their hands away from the book and likes to tear pages. Once he settles down more it will be back to reading a chapter now and then. We had gotten to Prisoner of Azbakan previously. Ryoma has also been with me to WWoHP in Osaka when I've covered events for SS, so he is pretty well versed in all things Harry Potter (even has a pair of Gryffindor robes which he passed down to his brother on his birthday since he out grew them).
As for a favorite time on SS...I suppose I do enjoy the Days of Potter season Quote:

I think when I was...about 3 was when I would call of Darth Vader on my toy phone and invite him over for tea. He was my hero and best friend Most of the glimpses aren't dated per say...so I'm not sure how old I was for some of them...but arooooooooound this time period. Quote:

also 5. Do you sing in the shower? 1. Total and complete newbie I don't actually have a set process Of the things you listed, I suppose its been more my gut than anything. With some characters, I've had a personality in mind and then I went looking for a face that fit that. Others it was a face and then the personality came from that. I think each character though, has developed out of some sort of need in my life - good and bad - and having a creative outlet to channel some of that into can be pretty therapeutic when you do it in healthy doses.
2. Lord. I don't know Sailor Moon was my FIRST, so that's special. Revolutionary Girl Utena is what I based my college entrance essay around. Shojo manga in GENERAL was my thesis (the reflection of Japanese women's language in pop culture). But I don't think I can just pick one
3. ecobag
4. strawberry 5. clearly I follow the rules
5. I DO. All the time. And bath time is typically with the boys so we sing songs there too. Kids songs with hand play (like Itsy Bitsy Spider and so on) and then Ryoma usually asks me to sing 'the Moana song' (How Far I'll Go) and Under the Sea

Hi
First off, my son just turned 6 on January 9th!!
On to questions...
1: Did you know that you were one of the very first people on SS to make me feel welcome and to RP with me when I had zero idea what I was doing still not sure I've got it figured out?
2: what is your favorite tea?
3: when Derf graduates, will you bring another Hufflepuff or change houses?

Aw! Another January baby! The boys' dad, my parents, my in-laws, and my host mom and one of my host brothers are all Janurary babies too
1. I did not ;_________; now I need to go stalk VMs and you are doing a fine job <3
3. I will have spent 8 terms in Hufflepuff, so it will be time to move on. I'm going to be bringing in my FIRST EVER second generation character. Son of my first ever RPG character (I had never RP'd before SS so literally FIRST) and he is presently a 3rd year Slytherin *hiss hiss*

1. SPRING! I absolutely love it in spring over here because of the cherry blossoms and it is also not terribly hot and not horribly cold either I don't do well with extreme temperatures. I also have started liking autumn a lot more since moving to Japan because of the way the leaves change color. Where I am from...everything is evergreen since I live in a redwood forest. Very different now and very lovely
2. Oh gosh...I haven't been on a vacation in a LONG time. Um...I guess somewhere I go frequently to unwind as as a sort of 'mini' vacation is either the local onsen (the outdoor ones are amaaaaaazing) or to Tokyo Disney Sea.
-----------
And that's it from me for the month of January! Thank you all for stopping by and asking me questions looking forward to seeing and interacting with you all around site!
