Hello

My name is Katherine, but most people here on SnitchSeeker refer to me as either Pixie of Kath, and it is my pleasure to be your Meet 'n' Greet mod for the month of September!

I've been around site for six years now after having stumbled upon site by accident looking for Harry Potter movie times in Tokyo, Japan (of which I am a resident) and I just never left! I've held various positions and roles here on site over the course of these six years, you can take a little peek at the accolades on my profile for details, love that I have this little nook of the internet where I can log on and keep my childhood alive in the celebration of Harry Potter.

Off site, I am a mother of one with a second due January 12th, a soccer/football fan, Disney fan tic (I was married at Tokyo Disney Sea!), Californian born, resident of Japan since 2008, former English teacher at Japanese Elementary & Jr high schools, owner of a prissy Somali cat named Kingsley, font addict, ... but I pause here.

1. oh GOSH this is a hard one

Kuurmi (my first school character for those not familiar) will always hold a special place in my little RPer heart because she was my FIRST...EVER character. But she really isn't up there in my top 3...maybe top 5...maybe. Just a lot of sentimental value and feelings of accomplishment here.

Airey (my now retired Astronomy professor of 11 terms) is probably first or close to it - and not just because I am a rabid fangirl of Neil Patrick Harris. I've always had an interest in astronomy seeing as I grew up with a dad who was an aerospace engineer and would do all sorts of science and observational astronomy things with me all the time. Airey made recounting some of these and all the additional research put into lesson planning fun...because he was Airey Flamsteed. Getting to channel my inner geek of Star Trek and other things was also a lot of fun for me as well. Certain quirks were also based off my dad, so he is a character that hits home hard and was sort of birthed in honor of him. He is also the first character of mine who kept thing from me and I did not discover certain things about his past until terms in to rping him which made other things make sense, so that was a new experience

Paige is up there too though :3 even if she gives me a royal headache my next student character is a sunspot as well for me and I am REALLY looking forward to bringing him into the school next term

2. Teleportation. Anywhere. Unlimited teleportation abilities. SO I could travel easily and get to go home and see my mom and dad in the States more often and not have to sell half my apartment buying a plane ticket *dramatic*

1. he is dealing Poor cat is quite indifferent to everyone and continuously gives me "I'm done with you human" looks. Save for when the house is totally quiet. Then he will kindly tolerate me scratching behind his ears

1. Japanese is actually my third language. I took Spanish from kindergarten through high school and started learning Japanese once I started university. The BEST way, for me, is study abroad. Only YOU know what message you want to convey and there is no textbook rubric for you to look at and follow along with everyone else when you are out there conversing with native speakers. My one year abroad in Japan (my host family from then lives about 30 minutes from me by train and are still family to me) was life changing, eye opening, and humbling.

As for culture shock...I experience it every day. It's terrifyingly wonderful

3. transportation trains are NEVER late and when they are they apologize profusely, will refund your ticket, write your work/school notes excusing you for being late...country runs like clockwork most of the time and you can get just about ANYWHERE by train. I'm always so lost when I visit family in the States because I don't know how to function

4. Besides various States (including Hawaii) and prefectures within Japan (Hokkaido and Okinawa included), I have also been to Spain and England. But those were purely for soccer training purposes only ... and I really only saw the pitch and hotel

1. Ironically...I was so opposed to it when the books became a thing I was one of those kids who purposefully would avoid the trends and whatever everyone else was doing, so I stuck my nose up in the air and ignore Harry Potter for a while. My mom bought me the books (I think we were up to book 3 or 4 then) but it wasn't until the first film came out that I actually got interested (GASP I know). So I saw the first film and was so mesmerized by this magical would that COULD exist right under our noses...and then spent the entire weekend reading all the books. No turning back since!

do the purple sweet potato kitkats taste like actual purple sweet potato? Because I had purple sweet potato in Hawaii and it's seriously my favorite thing.

They DO - although it is much more chocolate-y based than sweet potato...but it is really yummy and the bar itself purple, of course. My favorite though is the yakiimo Kit Kats you toast them in the toaster oven and deeeeeeeeelicious.

For SURE at first. When I first stumbled upon SS and sorted Kurumi (who I had actually been low key hoping would be placed in Slytherin depite things) I stuck to what I knew - Gryffindor - because that is really what we get to know from the source material. My first...3 or 4 characters on site were all Gryffindors because there was comfort in the familiarity. Sure, we get a cursory look at the other houses and most of the portrayal (particularly of Slytherins) is pretty stereotypical, but the wonderful thing about SS is that we explore and expand on the canon in ways that are far more inclusive than the source material provides. So, now when a voice pops into my head I'm more excited than anything when the houses are varied. It's really nice to be able to explore other aspects of your own personality and creativity by channeling different character voices.

And people always seem to sort me all over the place I'm not even sure where my true house is and I think last time my house was brought under discussion I was a Ravenpuff??? although I will say Gryffindor or Gryffinpuff...maybe Ravendor???????

1. ironically...Half-Blood Prince. Deathly Hallows Part 2 is up there as well, but that is really primarily because of the "Prince's Tale" chapter being brought to screen and Alan Rickman's outstanding performace

1. My mom had bought me all the books as they had come out, but I was one of THOSE kids who didn't want to do what everyone else was doing...so I resisted until the first film came out and only then AFTER seeing it did I decide it wouldn't be SO bad to read the books as well
