Hey Welcome to Snitchseeker, all that... Anyway, I'm Kristin, and one of your friendly mods of the month, representing August. And I'm writing this at almost 3 am, so excuse any babbling. xD
A little about me and SS: I've been a member here since December 2007, joining upon the suggestion of another member of Snitchseeker who I'd become friends with on Dissendium.com, and been involved here ever since. Starting with the RPs, where I had two terms as the Ravenclaw prefect, then one as Quidditch Captain. And when the Diagon Alley RP started, I joined that as first a shopkeeper assistant at Gringotts, then moved on to shopkeeper of Madame Malkin's, which I still am now, along with the supervisor of the north side of the street. I also am involved in the Ministry RP, as a member of the department of Magical Law Enforcement, and have been the Divination professor in the school RP for the last two terms.
Outside of the RPs, I'm also one of your lovely mods right here in Platform 9 3/4, and I wrote for the site magazine (and was head writer for), Seeker of the Snitch, until it was dissolved fairly recently due to time issues. I'm also the sponsor of the Arthur and Molly Weasley fan club, and am a member of quite a few others.
In case you haven't figured it out by now (or noticed my tag), I'm a bit of an RP addict, but luckily that only began after I was done with schooling. Yes, I am an adult, with a bachelor's degree in art, emphasis in art history. Although, I don't use my degree much, seeing as I'm a lowly sales assistant at the Kohl's near my house. My house where I sadly live with my mother (who doesn't appreciate my being just this side of an insomniac) and my cat, Hermione. I love to write/create the multitude of characters who populate my brain, read (of course), watch television/see movies, draw... I've known how to cross-stitch, crochet and knit for a while now but haven't actually created anything lately...
Now to set you loose. Feel free to ask me anything, and I'll try to answer the best I can. (There are some types of questions I struggle with. Just to warn you) And definitely, have fun and keep aware of the rules. Wouldn't want to start things off on the wrong foot.
How do you find time to keep up with rp's? I love them but i hate joining one that's already going on because i feel like everyone else already has their baring down and i'm just intruding. Any advice for rping here?
replies part one (I will get to you all asap, but don't want to get further behind)

I have no idea if I have a favorite beverage, really. Mochas are up there, though (although my most recent favorite at the coffee shop near my work is actually basically a vanilla caramel latte. xD it changes depending on the season, though) And non-coffee-related, probably Pepsi.

I haven’t read a lot of HP fanfics lately, beyond the SSRP character stuff here on the site, but yeah. I’ve enjoyed reading them in the past, and I can say that at least once one made me cry. But you always have to go back to the original books, as the fanfics wouldn’t even exist without them.

Well, I’m pretty sure it’s posted in quite a few spots here in the Newbie forum, but short answer is no. You can’t double-post, as that is the same as, or one of the facets of, spamming. Which is definitely clearly against the rules.

Honestly, I’m actually kind of torn about Snape and his past. It helps us understand his reasoning for everything, and in a way makes him highly sympathetic, but it also still doesn’t really help cover up the fact that he still did some bad things. To answer the second question, though, I think he’s both. Inwardly, he’s a conflicted good person, but outwardly he’s just the sarcastic Potions master and double agent. (I’m one of those people who almost always goes for the “all of the above” answer. )

Thank you? And it’s just a matter of showing that you’re willing to help, and proving you deserve more responsibilities. At least, that’s how I think it happened for me.

Now, my question is: does JK Rowling interact someway with all of you, the people on SS (the most experienced members)?
Is there a way we all can post photos of our cats named Hermione? I bet mine is the most beautiful!! haha
Your cats sound lovely (I’m assuming that’s who you were talking about.) And to answer your question… I know those of us in the JKR fanclub have contacted her, and certain people on SS do seem a bit more informed about everything, as that’s how we get our news posts and all. And I think she tries to interact with her fans when she can, just in general.
And there was a pic of my Hermione posted here on SS at one time. And I think we’d all be biased towards our own.

How did I find out about them? My best friend was reading them, and got me interested in them as well. It’s really as simple as that.

Hi.
Well, I basically taught myself to knit, using one of those basic “learn to knit” booklets you can get just about anywhere ( I think we got the one I used at a craft store). But I have to admit that I have the talent of grasping things like that without really having to need lessons. It’s not that difficult to figure out if you can have the focus to learn the basic skills.

Favorite character? Ginny, with Hermione, Professor McGonagall and Hagrid close behind. And I’m not really sure if I have a favorite scene from the movies. That’s not a cop-out either, as I really don’t think I have one.

As I said just before, my favorite character is probably Ginny, although I also like Hermione, Professor McGonagall, Hagrid, Firenze, Harry, Ron, Luna… Yeah, I like a lot of the characters.

Hi Bri I’m not sure I have a favorite painting, although I seem to be attracted to portraits more often than others. And the Renaissance/Baroque/Rococo era. I replicated part of a painting by Ingres for a project when I took a painting class in college. *random fact*

yep. Night owl here (or, sometimes I prefer vampire. Depends on my mood. xD) But to answer your question, yes, I do enjoy it. And it is definitely a lot of work, but then it also means I get to interact with all of you . And help make the site as awesome of a place as it is, so it’s a good tradeoff.

How did you get in to HP?
Well welcome back then.
Well, my first introduction was through my best friend. I believe she showed me one of the movies first, but I don’t remember. I do seem to recall seeing at least one of the movies before reading any of the books, though. And then I decided to start reading them around the time HBP (the book) came out, and the rest is sort of history.

Hi, and nothing is a silly question around here. RPGs are “role-playing games”. For example, on here we can play as Hogwarts students, Ministry workers, people interacting in Diagon Alley… that sort of thing. And really, don’t feel afraid to ask any questions if you have them. We’d all be willing to answer without judging.

Good question. I really don’t know, although I think I’d enjoy knowing the Summoning charm if I was truly a witch. Either that, or cleaning spells, as I really dislike cleaning my room and bathroom.

My favorite character, or at least the one I relate to the most, is Ginny. Although I like quite a few characters from HP.

Hi And I’d imagine it’s good. That all really depends on your definition, really. It requires a bit more attention than a simple member, but it’s still fun.
And it looks like you have, now.

Hi I’m doing okay. Trying not to get too stressed out about things. But, to answer your other question, I probably do. I’m on SS pretty much whenever I’m online, after all. But I still probably spend more time at work or asleep than I do on SS.

Hi!
I’d love to be able to create something like the Wizarding world, or honestly any of the fictional places/worlds created by writers. Unfortunately, so far I’ve only seemed able to just write things that take place in already established universes.

Least favorite? Um, does Voldemort count?
But yeah, I’m not sure who my least favorite character is. Maybe Macnair, because I still can’t get over the fact he was going to execute Buckbeak.

Which Quidditch? If you’re referring to the one I participated in in the past, that’s found as part of the Hogwarts RP, once term starts, and can also be looked at through the RPG archives also available as part of the RPG forums. There’s also Virtual Quidditch as well, which is part of the Weasley’s Wizard’s Wheezes (games) forum.

Hi Nice to meet you too. And I’d agree with you, but I haven’t really done any cross-stitching in years.
Hermione’s a black domestic longhair, with a gray undercoat. And she’s one of my favorite characters. Not necessarily my favorite-favorite, but she’s on the list.

Unfortunately, the answer to that would be no, although it’s a good idea. I’d contemplated knitting myself a house scarf once, but never sewing robes. Either way, neither has happened.

Hi back
Basic question, but I still don’t think I can answer it either way. I like them both, although I’ll probably be a bit more of a fan of the books since they’re were it all began. I still like the movies as well, though, as they’ve been impeccably done.

Hey man! I'm PotterHeadforLife.
I have a question... I know some Potterheads do it.
Which non-canon ship do you vote for? You know, like Dramione (Draco - Hermione) ?
HOPE YOU ANSWER BACK! <3
Hey, your cat sounds really lovely Have you watched A Very Potter Musical/Sequel? Do you like them, or just think they're a bit stupid? Also, do you have a favourite little bit of HP trivia? For example, JK Rowling said she almost had Fred and Hermione as a couple but then decided it would be better for her to be with Ron.
