2021: Meet natekka

Hello! I’m natekka, aka Natalie, and I’ll be your Meet the Mod for February.

A little about me… I’m 23 and I live in England. Hopefully, I will be starting my training to be an Outdoor Activity Instructor in March, which I’m very excited about! I also volunteer as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader with my local Scout group, and I occasionally help out with other sections too. I love spending time in nature, whether that’s camping, hiking or, as those things aren’t really possible at the moment, just going for walks. My other interests include music(!!), reading, making graphics and, most recently, Dungeons & Dragons.

In terms of my life on SnitchSeeker, I’ve been a member for 10 years this month! It’s baffling to think that I’ve been a member for an entire decade now. Currently, however, I’m a Book Club, Quibbler, and 4 Privet Drive mod. I’ve also modded the WWW and Potterdom areas in the past. I’m a Yearbook Photographer, too, and I still have a graphics shop!

I'm here, in your meet the mod thread, as promised. Kinda miss the in-person you, but that's going to have to wait until the pandemic is over

Anywho, here are my questions:

1. What colour is your toothbrush, at the moment?
2. You have such brilliant characters, so diverse and with such distinct personalities. What does the character creation process look like for you?
3. Do you have a favourite brainchild?
4. Is your favourite brainchild the easiest for you to play?

I miss the in-person you, too, and I'm kinda angry at everything for keeping us apart but I'm forever grateful that I have the not-in-person-you in my life! Great questions btw!

1. My current toothbrush is white and light bluuuuuuue.

2. Thank you!! I'm glad you think so. Hmm, well, it varies from character to character. It also depends whether they were gifted to me. But usually a voice comes first with a few things they are really loud about and I build around that. Sometimes, and these are the characters that often end up being the most interesting to play when they have developed more and sort of have minds of their own, they are built around an interest I have that I want an outlet to explore. For Riley it was astronomy, Harry has chess, Néve has writing. Sometimes, and these characters don't usually last long (oops), a name or FC is the first thing I have. It really varies a lot.

3. I have a feeeeeew. Bliss, Clara and Rhea have special places in my heart. Then I would say I have a few current faves but they often change. I'm especially fond of Eimear and Harry.

4. Not necessarily. I think the easiest for me to play is Lena because she's soooooooo chill and easy-going. But again, it varies, and some days different characters are very loud and easy to play.

1. So far, 2021 has been... okay? It's not been the easiest because England is in its third national lockdown and, when we're not in lockdown, the area I live in has still had pretty strict restrictions. So I feel like I've been stuck inside for almost a year, which has been really hard. I'm trying to stay positive, though, and be thankful for the little things I do have, as well as look forward to the things I'll be able to do when the situation improves.

2. Hmm. Weirdly, I've been more into movies than TV shows recently, which never used to be the case. That being said, I finished re-watching The Good Place fairly recently and I love it SOOO much. It makes me laugh, it makes me cry, it makes me so happy.

3. I don't know if I really have one? But maybe brownies??

1. HMMMMMMMMM. I think I would have to say there's this spicy chilli bean soup that I learnt how to make from scratch last year that I really, really enjoy.

2. Uhh not really? I mean, I've only recently (is it recent if it's been many months now?) got into it and the only chances I've had to play weren't proper sessions and the characters weren't well developed. But I've been working on a few. I have a half-elf fighter called Eira Miliel that I'm excited about.

3. I had to think long and hard about this one because I didn't really think there was a story; I just like foxes, yk? But I think that maybe part of my love for them comes from a book called Gingersnaps by Cathy Cassidy. It's aimed at pre-teens and it used to be my favourite book. It still has a special place in my heart and I re-read it pretty much every year. Anyway, Ginger (the main character) is walking along a canal one day and spots a fox in the undergrowth and just... the way the scene was described was magical, and I think I've loved foxes ever since.

4. First of all, this is an evil question and you know why! Secondly, I don't know what you define as 'lately' so I'm going to go with what I've watched in the last year. Definitely, Maybe is my favourite movie and, honestly, I don't know why or if it even still is, but I really enjoy it, so it has to make the list. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse is my favourite movie that I watched in the last year that wasn't a re-watch. No doubt about it. La La Land is another favourite that I re-watched and it was probably one of my favourite movie watching ~experiences~ this year, if that makes sense? My actual favourite movie watching experience didn't make my top 5 movies, though, I'm afraid. Uhh, let's see. Rogue One (ahem, looking at your username rn) is another new favourite. Makes me feel things, okay?! And finally... Wow, it's hard to pick. Emperor's New Groove. There are others that made me feel things more but this one's just an objectively great and HILARIOUS movie. So. There. I did it. Are you proud?

2. Yessssssssss! Maisie Peters and Orla Gartland both, I believe, have albums coming out this year, and I really hope that Lauren Aquilina will release some more new music this year, too.

3. Ikr?! I'm certain that what has kept me around for so long are the friends I've made on this site. I wouldn't know some of my best friends if it wasn't for SnitchSeeker, so I'm forever grateful for that. I can't imagine my life without SS in it right now.

Hello! Thank you for your questions! Yes, 10 years really is a long time.

1. There are a few spots I've loved. One is a campsite that is very close to where I live, so I won't reveal what it's called. But I practically grew up on that campsite as I've been camping all my life, so it has a very special place in my heart. Another campsite I have fond memories of, despite the fact I haven't been to it in about a decade, is John's Lee Wood Scout Campsite in Leicester. Finally, I went camping in Fort William, Scotland once over a decade ago and that was great!

2. This is an impossible question. I have SO many great memories. I'll list a few that come to mind.

• Meeting (virtually) people who would one become some of the most important people in my life.
• The Maize Maze RP between one of my old characters, Bliss Gracae-Ryans, and Tegz' character, West Odessa, back for they were ickles - ah, young love!
• Quidditch matches, when we used to do them live with trivia questions.
• The birth of The Book Seekers, SnitchSeeker's book club

3. Empathy. Passion. Meraki. Meraki, if you don't know, means to do something with soul, creativity, or love, and to put a part of yourself into what you're doing, which is what I think many of us here on SnitchSeeker do.

As for your question...

1. I don't go to the gym or lift weights, though I've certainly considered it. The only exercise I currently do is walking and yoga. I really enjoy yoga and do it everyday!

Hi! Thank you for your interest in my training. Unfortunately, due to COVID, my start date has been pushed back a few times. So I haven't actually started yet and therefore don't have any experiences to share. But I am very excited to start!
