| | | Meet Hermione_loves_Ron Hey guys, Hermione_loves_Ron! My name is Ashlie, but I go by many a nickname. Anything from Ash, Ashes, Ash-uh-Lee, even to the stranger names, like Afro Puff. Trust that I’m used to the oddest of names. ;] Currently, I am 21-years-old and live in the frigid state of Iowa. I am not a big fan of winter, though, so I’m in quite the predicament.
I am a mod in the Ollivander’s Wand Shop and play the shopkeeper of the Leaky Cauldron in the Ministry RP. My seventh year character is my third fully completed character, which means that I have played in the school RP through a span of 22 terms. You can often find me lurking about in the TP, playing in the school RP (when I’m not too busy offline… :/), playing in Diagon Alley, and doing graphics. Though I don’t always have time for them, I love to play in Knockturn Alley, too. RPs were one of the aspects of Snitchseeker that brought me to the site.
Come June, I will have been a member of Snitchseeker for seven years. I’ve definitely been around for a lot. ;]
In my free time, I like to write. Though I’ve been through many dream goals, currently, I would love to finish schooling with a major in psychology and a minor in journalism. For the longest time, I’ve wanted to be a journalist and was the Editor-in-Chief last year of my school’s newspaper, but I’m looking into a career of counseling, though I’m not certain yet what I would fully like to pursue. In the end, though, my main goal is to be a published author, and already, I have a nearly complete novel that I am working on, and two in the works. :] Writing has always been my favorite hobby, and I hope to one day be able to be paid for it.
The bulk of my life, though, includes working in the local pizzeria. Though it’s not a glamorous job, it’s really simple, kind of fun, and pays well. I love dancey music and such genres as pop-punk and punk rock. Various obsessions of mine include Pokemon video games, giraffes, penguins, being nerdy, Alice in Wonderland, doodling, writing, wasting time on Facebook, photoshop, The Sims, and books.
Feel free to ask me any questions, though bear in mind that they must stay within the Snitchseeker board rules. Also, remember that site-related questions should be asked in the appropriate Questions and Answer thread. Please try to do a quick read-through and see if your question has already been asked. :] |

Oh wow! I'm pretty much relieved that you're 21. Now I don't feel quite as big of a dork playing this at 17. So a question... hmmm...
What is the time frame between making two characters? Does your character have to graduate before you make a new one? Is it easier to get a ministry job, salesman job, or teacher job after graduation?
Umm... that may be it. For now.

Okay, now on to my questions. What type of books do you like reading most? (Does that somewhat influence your writing?) Quote:

Since you both asked about the same question, I'll put yours together. :]
Firstly, I tend to be a biiiiig reader of young adult, but I also love fantasy. At least, I've read a lot of young adult fantasy and plan to delve into the realm of fantasy more. :] But yes, I love young adult, especially when it is done right, because I absolutely love the growth that adolescents go through. Especially if the book makes me cry. ESPECIALLY. ;]
As for influencing my reading? Oh, most definitely. As an author, you write what you know and typically, what you read most becomes what you know. The book I am currently working on is nothing of this world that I know and nothing I've ever experienced, but because it is fantasy, I've tried to pick up from various books I've read. Everything else I'm writing is very strongly young adult. I just love growth and watching characters mature, especially my own. :] Quote:

For myself, creative beats journalistic by a tad. Hoorah! A passion for writing, I think, is one of the best things to be shared, because that gives you one more person you can talk to when you need to figure out how to write something or to develop and grow your work, y'know?
But I'm like you. Creative by FAR is most enjoyable. Journalistic writing is very different. It's facts strung together and though you're telling a story, there is so little room for creativity. Adding your own voice is hard and can possibly cross lines. Creative writing, though, allows you to explore so much more and, in most cases, it's all yours. All from your head! You can write it how you want, make whatever voice and tone you want. Adjectives are more than welcome and you can make things up!
I love to make stuff up. Quote:

I'm not at all a musically inclined person and I realize that, to write music, you must be able to hear it in your head and that is a skill I lack. Mostly, I just write novels, but also a handful of short stories. Sometimes, I am inspired enough to write poetry, but I'm incredibly picky about poems so I don't often do it. :3 Quote:

From the mods and Admins in charge, to the layouts of the site, the added features, the radio, the school RPG. The ministry RPG is fairly new. We've had so very many changes and sometimes it's not something that seems major unless you've been with SS since it's early days. Quote:

How did you first hear about Snitch Seeker? Don't be! One day, you, too, will have been a member for 7 years. ;] When you really love something, you stick to it.
But, I remember hearing about SS because I was looking something up online. One of my books was missing a whole PAGE and at such a critical moment! I tried to google to see if I could come up with any issues or anyone who could tell me what happened on that page and I can't remember what I searched, but it brought me here. I was sucked in by wanting to discuss my love for Ron and Hermione shipping (as if my name isn't evident xD) Quote:

Umm... that may be it. For now. Ahahahah! Don't feel bad at ALL. Really! SS is home to fans of SO MANY diverse ages that no matter what age you are, you will NEVER feel dorky. We've got mothers on here and little children and everyone in between and all outside. : DD
The time frame varies. If you're me, you create a character in their first year and raise them until they graduate. Some people will start a character in their fifth year. Others start them young and then create a new character before theirs graduates.
As for after jobs. Currently, members can only get a Ministry character after graduation, if they wish to further play that character. However, you may possibly be asked to play as a shop keeper or a teacher, but other factors, of course, go into that. :] |

Hey, since you work in a Pizzeria, you are going to have to write about working in a Pizza place. What happens when the doors close at night? Is there a 'pizza portal' when you walk into the cooler and to where will it take you? It think it would work, especially as a movie... Look at the weirdest title for a movie yet "Hot Tub Time Machine", soon to open...

Or a crazy adventurous place. What a neat idea, though! I'd never thought of it. You should work on that. ;] But actually, I have an upcoming SS charrie whose family runs a pizzeria. You write what you know best, right? ;] I almost featured a pizzeria in another novel of mine, but chose, instead, an ice cream parlour (which I also have experience in xD).
It's a good idea for a short story, though. I may have to work on this, now. XD Thanks! |

However, to answer you both. I have quite a few favorite characters. I always loved Hermione, simply for my ability to relate to her and the fact that she was so strong and bossy, but still valued intelligence above all else. I absolutely LOVED Ron, because he was such a loyal friend and such a real boy to me - he said and did and thought stupid things and I just kept waiting for him to have his shining moment. Nevile Longbottom was a favorite of mine from the start, because I just KNEW his moment would come. He tried SO HARD and he always came up with failure. Plus, the sad story of his family was heart breaking. :[ I will always have a soft spot, too, for Luna and Dumbledore. Both are brilliant in their absolutely eccentric manners and so supporting of Harry. I think they would have been fascinating people to have in my life! |

and bonus question: I was just wondering, do you keep like a dictionary/thesaurus near you whenever you're reading and or writing? I most certainly have! In fact, I have finally gone out and bought it. I've not yet re-read it, simply because I need to find a time that I can sit down, not be bothered by anyone, and bawl bawl bawl as I re-read it. xD I adore it, too. I love, most, the ones that make me cry.
As for your bonus question - dictionary.com and it's mate, thesaurus.com are FREQUENTED often by me. I own a thesaurus, but I really like the electronic ones, simply because of the accessibility of clicking. Maybe I find that I don't want to use a particular word, but I DO want something similar to it. I can click around til I find the right word I need when my brain is failing me. =D |
