| | | DADA Back to Basics 1 Professor Perry threw open the door to the classroom and eyed it critically. It would do for his purposes today, although it seemed a bit dirty to him. Never one to bother with common cleaning spells, Perry decided to send a house elf up later to clean. In the meantime, he had a lesson to teach. He sat and waited for the students. |

Somehow, Jaren got the distinct impression he knew what was coming next, but instead of answering he merely continued to write, waiting patiently to see if he might have guessed the answer.

| "Miss," Perry pointed at Ashlie. "You are on the right track. One point to Ravenclaw. I am speaking about the use of wands, although I want to go even more basic than even the usage of wands, although we may delve into that later in class. I'm talking about how to hold your wand effectively." |

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl Ashlie nodded and beamed a bit. She couldn't let the MInistry Officials worm her way into her. And the fact that she only got one point did rather disappoint her. They'd gone over this bit of information the Term before in the Auror Club, but they never said what WAS the best way. Only to find how they felt most comfortable. |

Mithos didn't know this. He wrote it down and underlined it.

Mithos remembered something that his sister had told him about this. It was quite some time ago...

Hogwarts RPG Name: Katherine Elizabeth Thomas Third Year | Shiny 'Claw Babe Meghan frowned because she was quite sure she said wand movements. She thought it means the same as wand usage. But Meghan remained silent and copied that down.

| Professor Perry nodded as he saw quills scratching across paper. "Alright... so... what are the basics to holding your wand? And why is this so important?" Without waiting for a moment for answers, he added, "Let me tell you why this is so important. Since I've arrived I've noticed reckless wand usage and sloppy technique. You may wonder why I believe I'm qualified to speak about this. As I've told some of your classmates, I was a duelling champion when I attended here. I know about how to hold a wand for precision." |

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl "So, you're teaching us how to hold a wand properly as opposed to sloppy, chaotic handling so that our spells don't backfire on ourselves?" Ashlie asked. "I would suppose, as Mithos said, that you would want to hold your wand at the right end, but I'm sure that's just naturally known information. I'm going to guess you might want to hold your arms out straight and point directly at what you'e aiming for?" |

| "Yes, that's a good one, Mithos," Professor Perry nodded his head. "You must ALWAYS be sure you're holding your wand at the right end. Even if you are just picking it up. Now... Ashlie? That's exactly my intent. And a good addition. A point to both of you. Do you have a concern at this point?" |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Katherine Elizabeth Thomas Third Year | Shiny 'Claw Babe Meghan made a slight grin. She continued to write. "Mmmm I wonder how a sloppy way is? At least we aren't holding a wand with our palm with our fingers strait trying to curse something." She thought.

Anelreas knew there was a certain way you were supposed to hold your wand, but she never knew such a big deal could be made of it.

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl "I don't think you should use an overlytight grip," Ashlie said. "Mind you, that's how I do it... I know you shouldn't hold it too loosely, in case your spell is strong, your wand might fall out of your hand. On second thought, I say you should grasp it quite tightly, that way you don't lose grip of it. But you should hold it comfortably, so it's easier to hold, rather than uncomfortably makign more chance of trying to shift it in battle and losing hold of it." |

| "Make up your mind, Ashlie. Is it tight or loose? I know you're young and inexperienced, but you should know your own mind. What are these professors teaching?" He muttered these last words under his breath. "I'll tell all three of you... a firm grasp is best, although gripping it too tightly will in fact cause you to lose the control you're seeking. Take up your quills and try this experiment. Pretend its your wand and find a comfortable grasp. Of course, it isn't the same as grasping a wand, but its a good simulation."

Mithos raised his hand "Professor, If someone can cast a spell, does that mean they are holding the wand the right, proper way?" Mithos asked.

Alicia picked up her quill and grasped it at the end with a firm (but not too tight) grip. She then wrote some notes and practiced the grip again.

Anelreas picked up her quill and grasped the end of it, tight, but not choking it. Her eyes darted to the Professor. He didn't have to be so rude to the class. He's treating us like five year olds. I wonder just exactly how much trouble I would get in if I ....
Her train of thought died. She didn't even want to think of the punishments. She returned her attention to her quill-like wand.

| "Not necessarily, Mithos. Any number of people can cast a usable spell, but that doesn't mean that they're holding their wand right. Imagine how much more powerful they'd be if they were behaving as proper wizards." He eyed the class before tapping a few in the front few rows. "Loosen that grasp, child. You aren't trying to strangle it. And you... your wand looks like a limp noodle." |
