| | | The Badgers' Burrow (Graphic credit goes to Charely Potter) Once past the barrels that guard the entrance and hopefully not smelling of vinegar, Hufflepuff students are immediately welcomed into the bee coloured room adorned with shades of yellow and black and resemblance of a cosy little Badger set.
The common room emits a warm, welcoming glow as you enter from the sloping passageway; a cosy nook burrowed away at the castle’s basement level. Somehow the low-ceilinged room always manages to appear as if basked in natural sunlight, even though the small round windows are barely above ground level. They’re the perfect height for watching the seasons pass by: the orange-reds of autumn leaves giving way into the white snow of winter; the daffodils and tulips signifying new beginnings in spring giving way to a pleasant grassy meadow of wildflowers come the summer.
The room still maintains the curved doors and carved mantelpiece of years gone by, a toast to the history of the house in the form of Helga Hufflepuff’s portrait hung above the large fireplace and greeting the students who enter. Plush sofas and honey coloured leather seats lay dotted around the room, sprinkled amongst the light-coloured wooden desks and chairs perfect for studying or completing homework. The occasional copper plant pot hung from the ceiling, a trail of hardy plants spilling over the sides although the responsibility for keeping these alive would fall upon green-fingered students and keen House Elves rather than the Head of House.
Whether you want to relax with a book, play a game of exploding snap or finish up homework, the Hufflepuff Common Room is the perfect home away from home. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Professor Marion Burbage | Goodness Gracious Heavens Above!
Now that the ferocious threat had passed, Marion could peacefully revert to being agitated and inwardly panicky. By no means was she doing well enough to hide this, however. She had gestured to the remaining students to exit the Garden and had floated out after the final one, her face a mixture of tiredness and anxiety. Not even the presence of Marcus and Ean did anything to lift her dull mood. What mattered was that the Hufflepuffs were in capable hands; those hands, unfortunately, were not hers nor will they ever be. “Perfectly summerized by Ms. Rose and Mr. Rocker, gentlemen,’’ Marion said somberly. “Of course, your assistance in assessing things further is welcome.’’ The ghost wrung her hands then clutched at her face. “I never want to lay eyes on those vines again! Such horrid memories they dragged up.” Marion didn’t even have the energy to choke back the sob that followed. “I wish I could have been more helpful to everyone but my capabilities are extremely limited. For that reason, brave Hufflepuffs, please see to it that you consult with Professor Feirgrund for a quick checkover. If any of you feels up to it, you may escort Professor Cole to those… dreadful things.” Another sob escaped her.

Originally Posted by Holmesian Feline The last thing Marcus expected to have happen as he walked along the ground floor corridor from the greenhouses in search of some fresh tea from the kitchens was a student approaching him in haste speaking a monsterous plant with vines attacking the Hufflepuff Common Room and its inhabitants. But there he was hearing the tale anyway, and the concern in the young woman was enough to confirm it wasn’t any sort of prank. Almost unconsciously the herbology professor vanished his mug back to his office and hurried on in the direction he had been heading albeit past the warm, inviting domain of the house elves and into whatever truly awaited them. With access granted him as professor and the sixth year girl moving with him the barrels opened up to a scene that brought him up short once inside. What in Merlin’s beard?
Wand in hand and ready to defend albeit not too high to appear as a threat, Professor Cole surveyed the scene moving carefully and taking in carnage already present, the severed limbs and scorch marks alluding to what the students had already tried against the moving limbs. Fire and cutting. And apparently regenerating limbs as none of the vines he was seeing remained cut so the fire seemed like the best bet. “Where did this come from?” he asked the students. His mind was already trying to dig through the knowledge that made up his field to try and pick out what they were dealing with and how to handle the situation. Wasn’t a mass of tentacles trying to squeeze you to death like Devil’s Snare…or spiked with students the worse for wear like it was Venoumous Tentacula. Xerxes walked back into the Common Room, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead, but stopped in his tracks when he saw two other Professors by the fire and the squashy armchairs.
Xerxes heard Professor Cole ask about the plants so he walked over to explain. "Hello Professor. I can tell you a little bit about the plants. They are.....or I guess they were Nyle's plants. He had them at the Start of Term feast. They were in two small pots. They were only wee little things, barely tiny green tufts of foliage sticking out of the dirt. But then Nyle brought them to the Indoor Garden and they well, really took off. I came into the Garden a few weeks back they are really shot up, overgrowing into everything and even knocking over a bench. I ran to get Nyle, sir. But he assertively assured me that there was nothing to worry about. I should have listened to my gut and gone to fetch a teacher, but Nyle is my friend and he knows WAY more about Herbology than me.......so I just believed him. Then when the plants started attacking people, that's how I knew that we ought to head into the Indoor Garden and attack the plants at their source: namely those pots."
Xerxes said all this very fast and needed to take a large breath of fresh air afterward. He hoped that by explaining it all plainly that he could shed some light on the situation. He really didn't wanna get Nyle into trouble, but there was no denying the truth. Plus, someone was sure to figure out they were Nyle's plants soon anyhow. Why draw out the inevitable?

| Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - ❄ Lunar Library Lurker ❄ - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror Ms. Rose was the first to speak up and Marcus listened to what she could share with him. No idea what the plant was or how the vines had come about, but at least the originating source from the castle, the indoor garden beyond the defeated plant clearly the next place he needed to check out. “Thank you,” the herbology professor said, about to comment on her question when they were joined by Ean who might have been retrieved when he had. Worthy back up as surely the healer would be the best to assess her injuries and those of anyone else that needed the help.
As for the Indoor Garden, that was where Mr. Rocker, Mr. Cadwallader and Marion apparently joined them from, each adding more information to the situation. Including the final fate of the plant that had caused both damage and danger. Okay so he was going to try not to feel horrible about the firey outcome, hard for such a horticulturist as he was, but he had more human charges that needed to be protected so there was that. "Thank you all for the information, it should be at least somewhat helpful." On the other hand, Marcus couldn’t help but feel for the Hufflepuff head of house who was in the midst of the situation but ultimately really couldn’t help her charges. “I suppose I shall leave you with your patients as I deal with mine…” he mused with a soft sigh as he looked to Ean before changing his attention to everyone else. "And yes, any willing students can chose to help as long as you are feeling alright." He would certainly need to do the floral equivalent of an autopsy on whatever remained to figure out what had been dealt with. All the better to make sure it never happened again, especially where Mr. Harden was concerned. Speaking of which, he was going to have to meet with the boy to get further information on his source...and why he had felt that the earlier situation hadn't been cause for getting assistance in the first place. Shaking his head, he headed towards his destination, scanning the bits and pieces he found along the way.

He then entered the common room a moment later, just in time to see... well, the room spoke for itself, given its state, when Miss Rose described what had transpired.
"Have a seat, Miss Rose. I'll tend to your injury here." Monsieur Feirgrund brandished a pillow as well for her to lay her leg on. "Is there anyone else injured?" If not physically, he was sure several would need some calming draughts, luckily, he carried a few after some other incidents in the past.
Paul walked in, his uniform dishelved and hair matted from the heat in the Indoor Garden. "Oh.." He was not expecting to see two Professors arrive now after everything. "Erm... the Garden is safe now, I think. We burned the roots." Which likely would've made the Professor wince at such a thought of plants being ended in such a fashion. "It was horrible.. but we're okay, if you wanted to double check the Indoor Garden, Professor Cole. " His eyes averted from the Healer because he really didn't feel like getting a examination. But he stayed because... well, it was awkward now and didn't know if Apollo or Xerxes would want to share everything that happened in there. Ariadne was relieved when Professor Feirgrund also appeared and offered to heal her bleeding legs. It was much appreciated because the badgerette wasn't sure if she was remembering the right spells to heal herself. Slowly she headed over to where Prof Feirgrund instructed her to sit, making sure to not step on any vines or carcases. Who knew what still was alive and wasn't. Sitting down and putting her legs up on the pillow she said "Thanks for fixing me up. Getting grabbed by vines around my ankles wasn't funny because it really hurt. I think everyone got grabbed by the ankles, but maybe I only got chomped on? I think Emma was held upside down though too." Ariadne didn't know if that had caused any injuries.
