For those who belong in Hufflepuff House, in the middle of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Gold banners containing an embroidered black badger float above the polished table in honour of the loyal Helga Hufflepuff. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. All that is missing right now are the mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages.
Though your stomach might be growling as you take a seat on one of the long benches next to the table, it is important to not get hangry -- gnawing your arm away or jabbing your fork repeatedly on the surface of the table will do no good whatsoever. Give everyone some time to get settled in and wait for Headmaster Winterbottom to deliver his speech. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables until it is time to sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves.

Hufflepuff being the House Cup winners this term was bittersweet for Id. On one hand, he was sad that his and Dad E's House had lost it, but on the other, he was beyond thrilled that Paul's House won. It was a win-win situation, he guessed. "The Hall looks spectacular, doesn't it, Paully?" Idris asked, his eyes sparkling as he took in the black and yellow decor. "Very bumblebee-ish!" If his eyes could have been shaped into hearts, they would have.
The Gryffindor straightened his yellow robes before flopping onto the bench next to Paul. "On a scale of one to ten, with ten being excited beyond the moon, how much are you excited for the cruise?" Him? He had that and all the things he wanted to tell the unborn sibling to look forward to!
It was going to be ONE. OF. THE. BEST. SUMMERS. EVER!

It was hard to believe term was over already. Aurora had grown attached to the castle and had made many friends this term. As much as she missed her sisters, she knew that she had made the right decision in transferring to Hogwarts.
Entering the great hall, she made a beeline to her House table. And was happy to see Idris and Paul already seated. Of course Idris would be with his boyfriend. Their relationship was very sweet. ”Hey, guys! Excited about summer?” She herself was going to spend time at the hippogriff and dragon reserve as well as go on holiday. And of course she would do a lot in the garden and her mother’s greenhouse. That was always a given.
Oooh a cruise! ”That sounds like a lot of fun.” She beamed, excited for her friends.
Entering the great hall Ariadne took a moment to bask in all the yellow and black badgeresque decorations that she saw everywhere she looked which caused a big smile appear on her face. It was amazing that Hufflepuff had won the house cup this year and so fun and unexpected. She headed over to the badger table after looking if her sister was seated at the snake table. Not seeing Tiffany yet Ariadne slipped into a vacant seat near Aurora, Paul and Idris at the badger table beaming broadly. "Hi everyone! Our house won the house cup, isn't that amazing?" Ariadne was glad that her legs were healed and no marks were left after the vine attack. "So summer plans? Is anyone going to try the new magical sports camp they've adverted about in the daily prophet?" To get to try all types of sports from quidditch to winged horse racing sounded so fun. Ariadne was going to spend lots of time with her brother and sister too..

Paul would've been fine sitting at the Gryffindors with Idris, since he didn't really take the house race as serious as his housemates. But he was steered straight over to his own house table. That was fine, he guessed. He could admit how nice the area looked. "It does look like that... aren't you sad your house didn't win the house cup?" He asked.
"Hi Rory, erm, yeah. My moms said it was okay for me to go with them on the cruise." Paul said. He still felt a little awkward talking with other people from certain insecurities. "Anything exciting this summer for you?" He asked.
Ariadne came in with the news about the sports camp, which sounded familiar. "Hi... are you going to take part in the camps, Ariadne?" His head turning to Idris, "I think your sister, Zen, was talking about that sports camp earlier. Did your Firther say anything to you?" Idris usually was more into cheering on his older brother, but maybe he was thinking about it.

That was okay, Id took the House Cup race seriously enough for both himself and his Paully. And Paul deserved to sit at the Hufflepuff table to celebrate this win whether he did so in a lowkey manner. Or… not celebrating was fine too. Id and Zen would celebrate enough for him. “Nope. I’m only disappointed we didn’t win because of Dad E. But he doesn’t seem to mind.” Idris gazed over in the man's direction, carefully looking over Dad E. He didn’t like that the man appeared so tired. He wouldn’t have been more worried if Dad D hadn’t been there to help take care of him. “I’m happy because Hufflepuff won because of you and Zen! Besides, we won Gobstones! So there’s that. Which reminds me, Paully!” He grinned happily. “I finally finished that appreciation card for Dad E. Even Nes signed it by leaving a pawprint. You’ll sign it too, right?” He turned a dilated cat eyed look at his boyfriend. The card was a completely handmade one, filled with little pink hearts, drawings of the entire family and nice words. Yes, Paul had been included because he was a part of that family.
“Hi, Rory!” Id wiggled with joy at seeing his friend. “It will be! Did Ary tell you he’s going with us? Jan invited him and he got permission.” Still wiggling, Id drew the hood of the yellow robe over his head so that it covered his fluffy hair, almost absently as he observed the interaction between Paul and Rory. He was secretly so proud of Paul for making such progress in the manner in which he interacted with others. Id just wanted to throw himself and give him a big, squishy hug but for a few reasons, he had to fight that urge.
“Hi, Ariadne! It's wonderful!” The words were said with such gusto, you’d think that Id had really been Sorted into Hufflepuff. Oh, the sports camp! “I don’t think so. I’m not really in playing anything sport related.” Id hoped he hadn’t disappointed Dad E by not taking up Gobstones. As for Paul’s question. “He did mention that there would be camps for Gobstones. I think Zen wants to take part. If that’s the case, I’ll be cheering for her!” He playfully nudged his little sister then tilted his head slightly at Paul. “Do you want to take up Gobstones too, Paully?” Was everyone getting into some sort of sport but him?
Xerxes strolled into the Great Hall. He couldn't stop smiling broadly; being so excited that Hufflepuff won the House Cup. Helping Hufflepuff to win the House Cup during his first year was something Xerxes was very proud of. He, unfortunately, had not earned the top spot this year, but second place really wasn't bad though.
As he approached the Hufflepuff table, Xerxes saw many of his friends talking excitedly and laughing. He spotted Rory sitting on the far side of the table and went over to sit by her.
"Congratulations!" he told her. "We worked really hard this year and we won! The top two students. If we keep this up, we are gonna be shoo-ins for Head Boy and Girl when the time comes. Did you have a good year?"

And there was Ariadne. Grinning, Aurora waved in greeting. ”It really is amazing. The great hall looks nice in our colours.” While she didn’t care about points nearly as much as some people did, she had to admit it felt nice. Nothing wrong with some House pride. The mention of a magical sports camp really piqued her interest. ”I’m definitely finding away to attend that.” And she’d get her sisters to go with her. Hopefully it would fit into her busy schedule. And she wouldn’t let it take away from her time in the garden. Gardening was one of her biggest passions after all. ”Are you planning to go?” If so hopefully Tiffany would as well.
Rory felt proud of how much easier a time Paul was having talking to her compared to earlier this term. And she knew that Idris was really proud of him too. ”Great! I’m sure you are all going to have a wonderful time and I’m looking forward to hearing all about it later.” From Idris if nothing else. Generally he was the much more social one. ”Just travelling and hanging out at the reserve. And gardening of course. Plus now I’m planning to go to that sports camp.” So basically she would be doing a lot which was wonderful for her. She loved to be active.
Idris’s wiggling was infectious, and Aurora couldn’t resist wiggling along with him. Oh, right. Of course. Ary had told her about going on a cruise. Somehow she had spaced on it being the same one. ”He did! He said that we would be spending time together at the reserve when he got back.” Though of course that wouldn’t stop her from seeing Uncle Adi before then. Getting to go there was one of the things she was most looking forward to this summer. And when the break was over she would be excited to come back here and see all her friends again. Gobstones talk caught her attention now. ”I’ve decided to try out for that next term. Quidditch is fun, but practices can really cut into my studying time.” And there were other extracurriculars she participated in. Plus she also needed to spend a lot of time in the greenhouses and gardens. Hopefully Emma would understand. ”It would be cool if you played, Paul.” It would be a lot of fun to play on the House team with him and Nyle. Of course only if Paul was interested.
”Hey, Xerxes!” BEAM. It was nice seeing him in such a good mood. And it made sense. He had worked very hard this term. ”Thanks! Congratulations to you as well! We definitely have a lot to be proud of.” While she wasn’t a competitive person, she was proud of them both for doing so well this term. Head Girl? ”Gosh, I suppose so. Hopefully I could manage that what with NEWTs and everything.” She smiled, though she wasn’t sure if that would happen or not. But it was okay if it didn’t. Xerxes would be a great Head Boy though, when that time came. ”I did have a great year!” Minus what had happened with Nyle’s plants. Aurora had been devastated when she learned about it. All that time they spent in the indoor garden, and they had no idea… But she wasn’t going to dwell on that. It had just been an unfortunate experience. ”What about you?”
After Rory had answered Xerxes, the Headmaster stood up and made some announcements. He then officially started the feast and the food magically appeared on the golden plates in front of them. Xerxes licked his lips and started serving himself some of the delicious food.
"Ya, I had a really great first year at Hogwarts. I went to all my classes, met a bunch of really cool people, and even fought a crazy overgrown plant thing. Plus we won the House Cup. I'm gonna do my darnedest to make sure we win the House Cup every year that I'm here. The Hufflepuff Dynasty begins right now!" he declared boldly.
"So how about the news that Professor Burbage isn't going to be our Head of House next year? Who do you reckon it will be instead?" he asked Rory and anyone else in the general area. Xerxes started eating while he waited for an answer.

Dead last. Even though Emma had managed to catch snitches a few times this year, it wasn't enough. The Lace twins having moved from chaser to double beater trouble seemed to be an awful move and she had to wonder what their captain was thinking. Although maybe their captain being a seventh year had her distracted and not focused on what was best for Hufflepuff Quidditch. And of course there was Jakub moving to keeper and letting one too many quaffles through. She wasn't going to blame Aurora. Aurora was new to the Hufflepuff Quidditch team and finding her groove. Which was why hearing that Aurora was going to not tryout next term had her feeling sad.
Emma's only saving grace was seeing how Hufflepuff just DOMINATED the house cup race and so at least there was something to celebrate about. She of course had her last season of U-17 to look forward to this summer too.
"Uh what's this now, Aurora? You know next term will be my last on the team so surely you don't wanna leave me hanging! Not sure i can manage with just the Lace twins," she made a face, looking around for her yearmates and hoping they were out of earshot. But then again if they weren't, that would be okay too because they had to know how awful they performed.
She smiled over at Xerxes and Ariadne and Paul ... along with the honorary Hufflepuff, aka Idris. "Evening, evening! You all looking forward to a well deserved break?"

It was nice to hear that Xerxes had a good term as well. Aurora nodded and smiled as he said that he would try to get them the House Cup every term. ”I’m also going to try my hardest while I’m here.” More just because she liked to try her best in general than anything else. Though it was nice to see Hufflepuff do well. And her friend so determined.
As the Headmaster gave his speech, Aurora listened attentively. It was a real shame that Professor Burbage was stepping down as their Head of House, but she could understand. It was probably related to had happened with the plants. Which was sad because none of that was her fault. But at least she would still be around. ”Honestly I’m not sure,” she told Xerxes. ”I’m also curious about who will be teaching Muggle Studies next term.” She still couldn’t believe what had happened during their less lesson with Leroy and how he had just left them and the house elves to deal with all the chaos.
As Aurora was setting about loading her plate wirh food, Emma addressed her. And she couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. ”I’m sorry. I just don’t want to have too much to deal with when I also have OWLs and do other extracurriculars that I don’t want to give up.” Plus Herbology obviously. She hoped her friend would understand. While Emma saw Quidditch as stress relief, Aurora didn’t. And out of all the things to drop, that was what she had decided on.
