"Oh," Nadia managed to said quite dumbly, "That's quite interesting! Impressive!" True, she wasn't expecting the professor to know so much about his subject, she was quite exited to know that she would for a change understand much more about Transfiguration than ever before. Exitedly, she took notes, and now ready and with a newfound determination chanted, "Transmogrify!"

Repeating the motion of the Wingardium Leviosa, she tapped the globet on her table once and - alas! A frog apeared, but as immediately it turned into a globet again.

"I need to concentrate better," she told herself, prepparing herself once more before finally trying... "Transmogrify!"

The globet changed into that of a frog. It wasn't moving so Nadia wasn't too sure it was alive. Poking it a couple of times, Nadia come to the conclusion that it was a wood frog, one of those muggles used as decoration.

She decided to try again. "Guess to change it back to globet the same incantation is needed, right?" she asked no one in particular.

Convinced it was like that, and therefore not waiting for the professor's answer, she commanded once more, "transmogrify!"

...if one of those was imperfect why would the other be better? The globet was half-globet, half-frog now. Rubbing her head, Nadia added, "Finite Incantatum!" and waited for the globet to retun to normal. She should have done that from the begining.

Actually, Nadia could swear she was quite more talented as a 11-year-old, wouldn't take this long. Maybe she should ask the professor to give a demostration, she pondered.

Taking a deep breath she tried once more, swishflick motion, tap and image of a frog...

"Transmogrify!"

Surely enough, in front of her there was a live and content frog croacking. She was half-way to squeal in delight when turning and encountering a quite strange scenario occurring on Mrs Weasley's desk. What was going on right there? She pondered, loweing her wand, her frog croaking. How peculiar...

Raven looked at Professor McAiken attach himself to her arm and pauses not attempting to do the spell. She stands up and looks at her struggle and sits back down as he had stopped. She sat ack down watching Professor McAiken closely monitoring his every move. She looked at her Goblet and tapped it adding a swshing motion. Instantly she whispered transmogrify . The goblet turned into a frog but one of its legs was missing. She looked at the discreated frog and shrugged her shoulders. She thought to herself beofore transfiguration it back :close enough:. She tapped the frog and whispered Finite Incantation and in a second the frog became a goblet again.

Kay carefully writes down the procedure onto her parchment and re-reads her notes before starting the spell.

Transfiguration Lesson Two: Switching Spells

Incantation: Transmogrify

Process: Picture in your minds, eye the goblet then think about the frog you want to appear on your desk. Now with that set and using a swish flick motion of your wand use the incantation to transfigure the goblet into the frog.


Kay picks up her wand and stares at the goblet for a few seconds, an image of a frog appearing in her mind. Determined to perform the spell, she firmly says "Transmorgify!" while using a swish flick motion of her wand. The goblet immediately turns into a mature bullfrog and it begins to croak gleefully.

Kay looks over at Nadia to see if she had transfigured her frog, but is startled to see a strange scene unfolding at Terry's desk.

*Scribbling down what the professor has said about Swtiching Spells, Jen takes a deep breath and pictures the frog she wanted the goblet to become. She swishes her wand and says the incantation: *

"Transmogrify!"

*Nothing happened. Sighing, she practices the wand flick for a while then tried again*

"Transmogrify!"

*A big, purple croaking taod appears and she has no idea how that happened*

Greek_snitch concetrated hard. She faied before and now she was a bit nervous "Transmogrify!!!!!" A big green greyish toad appeared on the desk. "Oh! That's great!!!"

Serena raised her hand, "Professor, if we want to change our frogs back into goblets again to practice more, do we just use the same 'Transmogrify' charm to reverse it?"

Yes, Serena the incantation works both ways with this spell. This incantation can be used in for many switches....goblet to frog, frog to goblet, mouse to box, and so on.

Adam points his wand at the goblet, concentrates hard on turning it into a frog...
"Transmogrify!"
And sitting on the table before him was a green frog. The only problem is that had a goblet for legs!
"Transmogrify!"
Now the frog was OK.

Nadia nodded at the professors instructions, glad to know she got that right. Turning back to Terry, Nadia titled her head, thinking the girl was making all sudden moves as if she thought there was somebody in there, which wasn't. Not paying further attention now, Nadia turned again to her frog and tried a couple of times the incantations to materize the spell. Only a couple of times more and she risked turning the frog into a rat, just to see if she managed and how it worked.

*Looking around at the others, fat, green toads, then galncing back again at her own fat, PURPLE one, Jen tries the incantation again, hoping she gets it right this time*

"Transmogrify!" she cried.

*Her toad gave one big croak and turned lime green. Jen sighed.*

"That'll have to do. At least it's green now. "

Serena cried "Transmogrify" and turned her tree frog back into it's original form of a goblet. "I think I've got the hang of this now!" She said excitedly as she said again, "Transmogrify!" turning the goblet back into the green tree frog. "I love this spell!"

Professor Mcaiken sort of chuckled every now and again as he watched the students transfigure the goblets to frogs. He could never quite teach this lesson without remembering his own class learning it with Professor McGonagall. McAiken had misaimed his wand and the spell hit all the spare goblets on the shelves. It produced so many frogs the class had to stop and catch them. Monagall just told him that he need to be careful and that he would be excellent in Transfiguration someday. McAiken smiled, he was excellent now in transfiguration, he was after all teaching it after all.

:: With absolute determination I point my wand at the goblet, "TRANSMORGIFY!" In place of the old Goblet, a little red and green frog sits. He looks so cute and confused. "Awww... TRANSMORGIFY!" The ruddy Goblet was back. This was a piece of cake.:litebulb: "Maybe I should persue this a bit further?" I think to myself. ::

Nadia tried a couple of times more, "transmogrify! Transmogrify! Transmogrify"

The goblet went to be a frog, to globet, to frog. Sometimes an hibrid whn she wasn't paying too much attention. Concentrate, she told herself, trying to see if she could work it out into a bigger mouse intead of a comon one. She absentlythought about trying to transfigure it into a miniature dragon, seeing she now knew what was the structure of it and could actually help. Or maybe another phoenix! Sparky could use with some company, she figured.

Yeah Nadia, I was doing the same thing. I get so distracted. I had a half frog, half quaffle.

:the goblet turns into a green frog, that procedes to hope around the class, and out the window:

:she hurries to the window, and sees about 10 frogs out there, not sure which one hers is. she raises her hand:

Ummmm professor, will they just sparatically turn back into what they originally were?

"Quaffle?" Naida asked, an eyebrow raised. "I think you are too much into Quidditch." Nadia laughed along with Kelli and watched as her frog hopped away -

"Ouch!"

The frog had jumped into Nadia's head before going though the window, too fast for Nadia to catch it.

Hearing Kelli's idea, Nadia nodded, "Good question," chuckling at Kelli's predicament. Finally raising from her seat she tried to help her look for her frog, turing hers into a globet first. "Mmh, you might be able to Accio it I pressume," she commented.

Hermy stares at her goblet, concentrating on the perfect Frog. she ahd always found frogs fascinating and was enjoying picturing a different frog each time she she did the spell. "Transmogrify!" A small black and red frog appeared in place of the goblet.

Sangeetha, who was watching everybody with great interest, had forgotten herself. Her frog croaked, and that was what broughther back to her frog. She placed her frog on the table and before it could jump, she had pictured the goblet very clearly in her mind. She swished and flicked and said:

'Transmorgify!'

The frog transfigured into a...half goblet. It had very much turned into a goblet but it had a mouth which croaked. She raised her wand again and concenterated in her mind:

'Transmorgify!'

The goblet popped out of sight and reappeared, only this time it didnt have a mouth that could craok.

Serena continued practicing to transfigure her goblet into a frog and back again and found she was pretty good at it. She raised her hand, "Professor, will we be transfiguring anything else in today's class?"

McAiken hears Serena question and stops to think. He had only meant to deal with this one but decided he would stop the practical lesson and move into a discussion.

"Yes, attention everyone, if you will stop for a moment, we are going to have a bit of a discussion. If someone will volunteer to gather the goblets and put the them away, please." McAiken stated as he walked briskly to the front of the room.

Once there he took out his wand and made a board motion and the writing on the blackboard disappeared. He began to talk under his breath and move his wand. Again words appeared.

A magical pyrmid of spells is need to reach the highest levels of Transfiguration. Just like learning to read. You learn your letters, then you learn words, you move to simply sentences and finally you read a book.

"Can anyone look at this tell me why we start out learning these many easier Switching Spells?" McAiken asked as he step back from the chalkboard and turned to face the class. "Think please." Now he waited for a anwer.

"The easiest spells in Tranfiguration all have a relation to the more complicated spells--basically, they are like the foundations of the 'pyramid', so to speak. You can attempt to skip the spells, but if your foundation is unstable, there is a high chance that the higher level spells you attempt will fail."

"Exactly, 10 points to Slytherin. Now while you can continue your Transfiguration education once you leave Hogwarts, I am trying to get to you a point that not only can you perform Switching spells on small things but large more complicated ones as well. "Who can tell me the most complexed Switching Spell?"
