Class #1 Muggle Clothing
 

Ashlie walks into the classroom, with a smile. She glances at the teacher, for some reason thinking that she could have sworn that the teacher used to teach something else. She shrugs and sets down at a table.

"Hullo there," she says pleasently, pulling back her dark hair.

**Walks in and sits downs in the front row. Turns around and smiles at Genie and Ashlie** Hamsteries wonders to herself how hard this class is going to be???

Jill walked in, her backpack slung across her chest. She sat down and opened a fresh new roll of parchment, and set her quill and ink out for the lesson.

*Kashi walked into the classroom*
Hello Professor Violet. Muggle clothing, that sounds interesting.
*she said happily and took a seat in the middle of the class*

-Afton walks in and sits next to Kashi.-
"hello Professor. Oh, muggle clothing. That sounds fun." ^_^

Francis walks into the classroom. She smiles at the teacher, and takes out a quill.

Hey Afton!, ready for a new hard year?

"Hey Kashi! Yeah i am. Hm, muggle clothes.......that sounds very interesting. Doesnt it to you?"

-looks over at the girl.-

"Hello!!! Im Afton, and you are?"

Jill looked up at the comment.
"You don't think Muggle fashion is interesting?" Jill wondered, being a 1/4th Muggle herself. "I mean, with Paris and New York; that's not even counting all the different garbs of the world."

"I'm Ashlie Swartz," the girl said. "Fifth year Ravenclaw."

"kool. nice to meet you. Second year gryffindor here."

-desides to quit talking so she doesnt get in trouble-

*walks into the classroom...and smiles at the Professor*
"hello Professor...hey cool muggle clothing!!!!I soooooo cant wait for this...."

"Hey Afton how was your summer? Hi Jill!" she smiles. She sees a seat next to Afton and moves there from her seat away from everyone else.

*Jax walks in the classroom and pulls out her quill*
"Hello Professor."

Raven entered the Classroom and settled near the front of the Classroom. She smiled at Afton and Ashlie and looked at the Professor trying to figure out what she just had said a second ago.

Sativa walks into the classroom and slowly looks around, she nods and gives the Professor a shy smile before taking the seat closest to the door.

"Oh ok," Jill opened an old looking parchment, scribbles etched all over, and began scanning through it.

*Adam takes a seat in the fifth row of seats (there are seven) and waits for something to happen.*

She pulls out her napsack, and grabs a new roll of parchment and her brother's old quill. She smiled from Afton back to Jill.
"Well Afton, I haven't seen you much lately since you're in Gryffindor. Maybe sometime we could hang out."
She began to write something down, making a loud sound of a scratching quill. She looked over at all the unfamiliar faces from other houses.
"Muggle clothing doesn't seem all that interesting. I mean, well....you know what I mean."

~Mia walks into the classroom and waves as she sits near Afton as she waves at her~

"This class should be great, even tho I am muggle-born, I love fashion!!"
She thinks to herself as she pulls out a Quill and few sheets of Parchment from her bag.

*smiled to the students that come in and waited patiently for the class to begin*
Muggles studies...hmmm..interesting. Muggles are so weird, especially their clothes. How can they wear those colorful clothes.
*she thought to herself while she waited*

-waves at Raven, Feesha, Hannah, and Mia-

"sure we can Hannah. i go down to the lake alot, mayb there?"

-wonders when class is going to start-

Pandah inters the class room and takes a seat behind afton and taps her on the back.
"Hi afton"

-turns around-
"Hey! How have you been? i cant wait till class starts"

Josh walks in and sits in one of the desks, and takes out his quill, ink, and parchment

**Hamsteries say hello to Josh.. noticing that he is a fellow Hufflepuff!**

Megan smiles nervously at the girl nxt to her. She has never writtin with a quill before and trys to write a neat title. This proves to b unsucsessful and she trys to casually clean her hand in her robe without everyone noticing the mess she has made. As other students write quickley and scribble away, megan desperatly trys to write but the quill is prove far from difficult to use than she imagined.

Serena sat quietly thinking to herself, "This could be really fascinating. Looking back through history the styles for muggle clothing have changed dramatically! You can visit any muggle museum and see artwork dating back for centuries that shows how clothes are a form of artwork for some."

Hello Professor.

Shannon walks into the classroom, looking for familiar faces. She sees some people she recognizes from the Ravenclaw common room, and sits down in a seat near them. "Muggle clothing? This should be interesting..."

*Sarah walked into the classroom and sat in the seat she had used last year and took out her things and put them on her desk*

Looks like an interesting lesson.

Francis, who had already been taking notes, notices Shannon, Ashlie, and Raven. Smiling, she waves at them, while trying to take notes at the same time.

Shannon smiles and waves back to Francis while taking parchment and a quill out of her bag. "How's this for muggle clothing?" she whispers to Francis, as she slips off her shoe and lifts her robe a little. Underneath, she was wearing blue striped toe socks with a little face stitched into the end of each toe.

Sativa pulls her hair back into a ponytail and opens her books, *annoying quills* she mutters * why can't we study muggle writing utensils?*

As she attempts to write, a blob of ink escapes and drips into her book. *Merlin's beard! why does everything have to start out crummy* she thinks as she looks around, hoping no one saw her making a fool of herself.

Francis giggles at Shannon's socks. She had never seen anything like that. "Ooh!! That's really good!!! Where did you get that?! They look so amusingly funny!!"

Francis raises her hand. Waiting patiently for the teacher to acknowledge her.

Then, she answers: "A corset comes from the Old French word: cors meaning body, as well from the Latin word corpus which means body. The corset is a close-fitting undergarment, often reinforced by stays, worn to support and shape the waistline, hips, and breasts. It is also a medieval outer garment, like a laced jacket or bodice."

Word War One

Shannon raises her hand to answer. "World War I?"

Francis raises her hand once more. "Professor.. World War I, or the Great War.. Took place from 1914 to 1918. It was the largest war the world had seen at that time. It resulted in may peace treaties as well as the creation of the League of Nations. It is calculated that about 10 million people died and 20 million people were wounded."

Francis quickly writes down what Prof Evans just said. Smiling at Shannon, she whispers in an encouraging tone: "You were very close! We'll get more points for Ravenclaw."

*writes down the notes quickly, smiling at getting some house points*

*Imogen runs in quickly with her twin sister and sits and the back*

Francis smiles back and looks up at Prof Evans, waiting for another question or comment to take notes on.

* feverishly writes down everything the Professor is saying, already thinking about impending tests

::Taking notes, having mastered the quill! ::

*Imogen and her sister, Cleo, copy down the notes and what the teacher is saying*

"I'm sorry for getting you into trouble" Cleo whispered.

Imogen looks at her twin and whispers, "I just hope the teacher hasn't noticed us.

Gina tries to copy down the notes as fast as she can without being scruffy, and resists the urge to doodle a corset or a billowing skirt on the sides of her parchment. Dipping her quill quickly in the ink, she drips a little blob onto her page.


"Gah..." Muttering quietly, she pulls out a tissue from her sleeve and pats the stain before catching up with the rest.

~Mia takes down some notes, not very neat since she is basically the only one who can read her writing anyway. She thought about how uncomfortable a corset must have been~

"Professer? Did some womean start wearing pants while they were in the factory, or was that later still?"

-Afton continues to write down everything the professor says. She writes slowly, so people can read it.-

Francis raises her hand as well. "Professor.. I heard that during WWII women started working full day jobs in male positions. Since what you are describing of WWI parallels what happened during WWII.. I was wondering, was fashion impacted in the same way by WWII?"

Stephanie walks into the half filled classroom and takes a seat in the first row amd smiles at the professer while taking out her quill.

Then starts taking notes as fast as she can without be sloppy

Pandah look around and sees everyone else taking notes so she takes a piece of parchment and a quill and hurriedly writes down everything the professor has been saying.

::Quickly taking notes of what the professor was saying only re-wording them so it will be shorter.::

*sits down all alone*

Jill nodded to herself as she scribbled away:

1900-1920 - thin/small good corests, long pants, tiny shoes
1914 - WW1 independence factories fashion shorter shoes showier

Alex looks down at her paper and scribbles down all of her notes taken from the lecture.

Katana starts taking notes on her paper as fast as she can write since shes a pureblood and did'nt know much about muggles before coming to hogwarts

Adam is busily scribbling the required notes down, as well as some extra things he knows (on account of him being a half-blood) such as what his dad wears.

Serena listened intently to the Professor's words and wondered how anyone could ever wear a corset, or shoes that were too small! "I can't believe someone would actually cut off their little toes!" :o

Francis looks at Ashlie. "A Department Store? I've read about those... Lots of muggle artifacts in one place, right?". Francis smiles as she listens then wonders about how muggles could fit in clothes 5 times as small..

Shelby tried to make it look like she was taking notes, but in all reality, she had grown up with this. Being the daughter of two muggles, and the sister of a fashion goddess, she already knew most of this stuff. At least it's a fairly easy lesson this time , she thought to herself.

"Witches at Madame Malkins' do the same thing," Jill pointed out. "There's wizard fashion as well as Muggle fashion." Jill shook her head. "It's sad to see how much of an influence our appearance has to be in society."

"I cant imgaine not wearing cloths im glad they needed them!"Stephanie says in a astonished tone.

Sativa looks around, listening to the conversation, but having nothing of interest to add.....just nods

*Tara scribbles down her notes as the professor speaks. This class was getting to be very interesting*

Josh is quickly taking notes making sure he gets the important points.

Shelby rolled her eyes in disgust at the conversations happening around her about fashion and the need for clothes. She just wanted the lesson to continue as it was supposed to without any more silly interruptions. "I hate when people have their own private conversations during class," she muttered under her breath and continued to draw pictures of girls in corsets and hoop skirts.

-copies down the last of her notes and waits for Professor Evans to continue-

After Pandah had finished taking the last of her notes and while she waited for the professor to continue she tapped afton on the bace and asked her how her summer was.

-wispers back that it was fnie. She doesnt really want to talk at the moment because she doesnt want to get into trouble, so she tells pandah to meet her at the lake later-
