 The Headmaster's office consists of a fairly straightforward, largely unremarkable set-up. Directly across from the door, a large desk and some chairs - one behind the desk for the Headmaster, and two in front of it for visitors. As is the tradition in this office, portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses cover the walls. Beneath the portraits, bookshelves. Here you will find, predictably enough, books, as well as the Sorting Hat, prominently displayed on a high shelf. A few old trophies and framed medals from Kazmi's old broom racing days, still in perfect condition and shined to perfection, can be found here and there by those who care to look.
Headmaster Kazmi's desk is usually clear - unless he happens to be working on something, or dealing with a veritable mountain of paperwork - apart from some framed magical photographs of his niece and nephews. One of each when they were young and arguably more adorable, and one of each in their late teens, when they were anything but. It's rare you'll see Amir, the Headmaster's black cat, prowling around the office; he prefers the living quarters, but occasionally makes an appearance. Amir has been known to stake a claim on the surface of the desk when there is a particularly tempting patch of sunlight to be found.
If you're looking for the Headmaster, there's a chance you'll find him here. Whether you have an appointment or are showing up unannounced, state your intentions to the stone gargoyles and wait. Only the Headmaster and the other Hogwarts staff hold the password to to the office, and the gargoyles won't budge unless they hear it. So hold tight, because attempting to gain entry in any other way will only end badly for you. These gargoyles, they're always watching.

Luther walked towards the Headmaster's office nervously while questions and thoughts danced erratically in a mental hurricane. 'Does he summon every first-year? Is it because I was late for the DADA class? It cannot be I was late only for a couple of minutes, AND even that because of Peeves. Is it because of my hands?' thought Luther, his hands glowing brighter than they ever did.
When he arrived at the gargoyles, he thought 'I wonder, what would they do if someone attacked them?' then took a deep breath. And waited. Then exhaled. As he exhaled, he focused on his hands and tried to dim them as much as he could.
Another deep breath.
"Hello, umm... I was summoned by the Headmaster. May I please... see him?" he said, and felt weird as the gargoyles seemed as solid and lifeless as before.

Not a few minutes later, having received the message, Kamran descended the spiral staircase between his office and the gargoyles, the latter of which opened up the way for him to emerge. Kamran barely had to step through it before the *FANFARE* played once again.
Sigh. He was used to it by now, of course, but it never stopped getting irritating. Nor the jingling, which sounded as he inclined his head to the the first year in greeting. Kind of a distraction when he had to deal with serious or sensitive matters.
"Mr Starriver, right on time. Excellent." Ah yes, he had his own situation to deal with too, of course. Kamran couldn't imagine that emitting light from one's hands was very conducive to a good night's sleep. He beckoned - *jingle jingle* - for the lad to follow him back up the staircase, and started back up towards the office door. "Follow me, and we can have a chat in my office. You're not in trouble." He had, of course, already given such reassurances, but felt it prudent to do so again.

Did Peeves get you too?" as his hands were glowing as bright as they could. After he followed the Headmaster to what Luther assumed was his office, ' It is safer to wait for him to talk first, I guess. He called me here after all.' thought Luther with a cautious look on his otherwise expressionless face.

"It certainly seems that way," Kamran said, and it certainly did indeed. As he crossed the threshold into his office there was that blasted *FANFARE* again, trumpets and jaunty tune and all. He gestured - *jingle* - towards one of the chairs in front of the desk for Starriver to seat himself in, then jingled himself to his own chair behind it. And then he tried hard not to move too much.
The jingling. It worked the nerves after a while.
"Have you been settling in okay this year?" he asked, tone on the formal side of casual. "Going away to school can be a big leap for many of our first years."

" Thank you, sir." said Luther as he sat, of course only after the Professor sat, with a jingling which Luther thought should be even more annoying than his glowing hands and felt sorry for the Headmaster.
Luther's eyes narrowed slightly upon Headmaster's question. The question seemed a tad bit too specific, or was Luther too paranoid? Nevertheless, Luther slowly spoke with a barely noticeable coldness in his tone " I... like it here very much. Learning new magic manages to excite me every day in ways I didn't know existed. However, of course, I miss home. However, the pros and cons, so to say, are even, I guess." Thinking he said enough, Luther paused to wait for what Professor would say. If this was about the thing he suspected, it wouldn't do much good to talk about his home life.

Too paranoid? Perhaps. It was a question Kamran was likely to ask - and had asked - many of the first years who crossed his path each year. He did have an additional motive for the question in this particular instance, but all the same.
Barely noticeable as the shift in tone was, Kamran had worked in education for... actually, he didn't want to think about how long exactly, but long enough to be able to pick up on these things. Still, he did not remark on or react to it at all, only nodded in response to young Starriver's words with a soft jingling.
"Well, I'm glad you're liking it here." Would that every student here could say the same. Kamran folded his hands on the desk and tapped his thumbs against each other. The boy had provided him a perfect segue, and he saw no reason not to get straight to the point now that the pleasantries had been covered. "And, speaking of home, am I right in thinking it's just you and a house elf when you are there?"

Luther sighed. 'I talked too much. I knew he would hear it one way or another.' he thought, the defeat finally settled as his shoulders sagged.
"Yes, Professor. It's just me and Leo. But... But we are happy. I am happy with him. He is like a protective big brother to me, I swear." Luther blabbered hastily. He didn't want to leave his home.
