#TeamMuggle Claudine could agree with Ashley: it was indeed crazy. Her young friend also had a good point about rocks. “We just have to make sure we don’t hurt them with rocks.’’ This was not an actual hunt, right? It wasn’t as though they were trying to escape The Hoods. Anyway. The fifth year was genuinely pleased when Ashley followed her. And as she glanced over her shoulder as they went in one direction, she flashed Ivy a thumbs up as the third year went in another direction. Ashley’s idea of climbing a tree would have come in good and proper right about now, since Claudine heard someone casting the Softening Charm. She didn’t bother to look back now; rather, scrambling to get behind a tree. Which she did. The girl clung to the trunk, peeking out to see if anyone from the other team had followed. “Pssst. Ashley. You okay?” |
Team Muggle -- Following Ivy Quote:
|
Team Muggle - affected by Atlas' spell Hearing footsteps behind her, Ivy glanced over her shoulder and was relieved to see it was Violet. Thank Merlin it wasn't someone from the other team yet, though it did sound like they weren't far behind. There was something that sounded like a spell (Atlas) being shouted behind her. Hopefully she and Violet could get to one of those trees to hide behind before they caught up... ...was it just her imagination or did the mud suddenly seem softer? Harder to run in? It quickly felt like the more she tried to move forward, the deeper the mud got, until she was stuck in there all the way up to her knees? Was this something Team Wizard had done? Crud. "Violet? You having any trouble?" she asked, wiggling around to try and get her legs out of the soft, sticky mud. |

#Team Wizard @ Kale Trent The Slytherin's idea of making sure someone could guard their opponents if they caught them sounded very smart, so Mamie nodded decisively. "Yes, do that," she said, deciding she was in charge because #PuffPower, apparently. She was all ready to split off as they planned, when that Gryffindor first year just...ran off, casting spells willy-nilly. And Dahlia went with him? Okay then. Mamie shrugged, then ran off after Kale Trent, who looked to be alone. Because a second year was absolutely a match for a fifth year, with or without magic. Yep, this was a great idea, Mamie! Full of good ideas today! "In-in-Incarcerous!" she shouted, aiming at the older Gryffindor before she had fully caught up. "Incarcerous!" she tried a second time, for good measure. |
things for everyone & also specific mentions too Finneas was meant to play a more active role in this game, but with the unnerving Slytherin standing beside him, it was... difficult to errrr get stuck in it. Quickly turning, he pointed his wand creating an extra mud puddle along the path that Minjae was headed towards. Also? Did anyone fancy some RAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN? Because Finneas did that. To their little circle. Casting an Impervius Charm around himself (... and Nemesis) as an afterthought. With another flick of his wand, he shrunk, shrunk, shruuuuuuuuuuunk the tree that Ms. Blaze was currently hiding behind. But that's all he had a chance to do because. Er. Nemesis. Quote:
Though, er, well. Er. "I... See. Well, er, if you would like... You can, er, help me in, er, making some changes to the .... environment." Yes. Getting rid of the hiding places and making life a little more difficult, you know? |
Missed the mud, trying to help Ivy Quote:
She looked around for something to pull Ivy out, but the trees were up ahead. And Violet was fairly certain that some of the Wizarding team must be close by--that spongey mud hadn't gotten there by itself. Glancing over her shoulder every once in a while, Violet skirted the edge of the mud, looking for the change in color where it became spongey, and came around to the other size to see if she could reach Ivy's arms with her own and pull her out. |
Team Muggle (Just hiding for now) For the record, Heath wasn't trying to tell anyone what to do. If he had, he wouldn't have prefaced his statement with "I think we should…", and he wouldn't have asked for anyone else's input. All he meant to do was share ideas that he thought might be helpful. Speaking of ideas, he thought the mud-throwing one some of his groupmates suggested was a good one, especially if they aimed for the eyes. Wait, what? Biting was allowed, but punching wasn't? Not only was that completely bonkers logic, but it made his plan to get the wizard team to drop their wands a lot harder! He was lost in thought as he listened to the game rules. If he couldn't punch, maybe he could try kicking or shoving instead. Schmoe didn't say anything about that, so technically not against the rules, right? Heath watched the group split up, making a mental note of who went where, but before he could pick a group to join, someone's (Atlas) spell jarred him into motion. Nope, not happening! He was not getting caught in that mess! He sprinted as fast as he could in the opposite direction. So much for the buddy system… Maybe he could meet up with another group later. Now he needed to find a hiding place - and fast! He crouched behind the nearest hush just as the downpour started. Cautiously peeking around the side, he saw the rain came from Schmoe. Really, Professor?! his thoughts screamed in frustration. Did you think the odds weren't already stacked against us enough? And why in Merlin's pointy hat was he letting Upstead, of all people, help him? Knowing it was only a matter of time before something else happened, he scooped up a handful of mud, quietly waiting for someone to come within throwing distance of him. As he did so, he spotted a stick on the ground. He picked that up too with his other hand, already formulating an idea (or several) how to use it. |
teammuggle . im sorry >_< Mud splashed everywhere each time his shoes made contact with the ground as he ran away, trying to find a place to hide. He jumped over a few smaller puddles of mud which he thought would be too deep to run over and he didn't want to hurt his ankles or get stuck. He had not seen any of his *team mates* yet until he saw a tree on his right shrinking down to reveal Claudine hiding behind it. WASN'T THAT CHEATING?! How were they supposed to "hide" when their hiding places were being destroyed?! This was unfair but not as unfair as a puddle of mud suddenly appearing in front of him. The Hufflepuff who had still been running let out a yelp as his right foot misstepped and he slipped like bambi on the ice. One second he was up and running and the next his behind made contact with the muddy water. He let out a painful groan and any other time he would have laughed and gotten back up but now...he couldn't even remember when he had last laughed. Why was he even doing this? And that was when it hit him. What this activity was supposed to represent. There was no way for the muggle team to win because the wizards were 'superior' and if that feeling did not make him feel miserable, it also started to rain. Minjae looked up at the slowly darkening sky and let out a sigh. 'The sky looks beautiful like this' he thought as his eyes caught sight of a bird flying away. Oh how he wished he was that bird right now.... Having freedom and no worries and being able to fly away. Too tired of everything, Minjae stayed seated in the puddle of mud. He didn't care anymore. |
I'm a Muggle ooOOoOoOooh Who knew what Bernadette had gotten up to in the time since Schmoe had allowed them to have a head start, and the time that had.... elapsed. She was hanging out on the perimeter of the cones, kicking tufts of grass and pretending not to exist. It was working fairly well so far. She also had not donned the appropriate jersey, but had allowed it to fall from her fingertips to the grass. She was definitely just loitering here and pouting. Might as well sit down on this disgusting grass. Might as well be a pig in slop. WHO CARED ANYMORE? Life SUCKED these days. Bernie plopped down on the ground in a little bundle of feelings. |
..... Were people .... sitting? In.... the mud? To say this was unexpected would be an understatement. Finneas Schmoe was not entirely sure what was happening, but ... er. #MOOD or rather, #SCHMOOD AnYwAy, anyway, anyway. He held his wand to his throat and amplified his voice, "Fifteen minutes left, everyone." Yes. 15 minutes. Hopefully the time warning would put people back ... in action. A Schmoe could only hope as much. OOC: lol. lol. lol. There's about 22ish hours left before the activity ends! |
#TeamMuggle per our online random generator thingy Apollo hated this class most of all because of the simple fact that they didn't seem to be studying anything useful about muggles. No, instead the class was more centered about the disadvantages that muggles had in not being able to do magic. Aboli's outburst had been noted as well, and Apollo merely widened his eyes at the older girl, but said nothing. What could he have done? It wasn't as if he didn't agree with her? And yet he just sat/stood there. Like a statue. The activity was muggle hunting. Ugh. He was going to be sick, especially if it turned out to be a replica of Defense Against the Dark Arts and a REAL Muggle got killed because of it. It didn't seem like real muggles were going to be involved in this, but half their class would be acting as muggles. He waited as Schmoe went around assigning them to either the wizard or muggle team, and he was assigned to the muggle team. Reluctantly handing his wand over, he'd listened to the instructions and then ran to hide on the perimeters, where it seemed less muddy, perhaps. But who cared. This was dumb and who actually hunted muggles?? And why? What purpose did it serve to hunt people who were at a clear disadvantage in society? What happened to the Statute of Secrecy? Did that not matter??? He didn't really know how much time had elapsed, until he heard Schmoe calling fifteen minutes left. He should do something. Maybe go sit in the mud too, since apparently it was symbolic of muggles being pigs? BUT was it muggles who were the pigs? Or these pureblooded supremists? Loitering and keeping his thoughts to himself when he saw an older Gryffindor girl plopping down on the ground and she seemed sad. Quote:
So Apollo did the only logical thing he could think to do. He went over to her, and plopped down next to her. "We're not one of them, you know." He didn't want the girl to have the sads. Also, by saying one of them, who knew if he was referring to being real muggles or the dumb hooded people who condoned violence and unforgivables. He wanted to tell her something to make her feel better. To tell her it will all be okay. But he was only eleven and to be honest, he didn't know that it would be?? Would he ever see his mother again? His grandparents? His cousins? Would the greater good really prove to be that? What was the greater good anyway? |
Why was it that Claudine felt the need to ensure that Ashley did not hurt anyone? Once again, she felt like a mother hen. It was still quite a new feeling to her. But wait. Where did the younger girl go? The Snakette looked up as advised and found Ashley sitting in a tree. How did she get up there so fast? But it was a great idea and soon, she was following suit by attempting to climb the tree she had been hiding behind. Only… well, it started to rain and soon Claudine’s hands were damp and her feet were sliding down the trunk. Naturally, this made her ascent rather difficult and frustrating. Then… What in the world? No fair, Schmoe! The tree suddenly started to shrink. This only made her more annoyed. Still, this girl was not about to be captured. “I hope you’ve got room up there for one more, Ashley.’’ For Claudine was making another attempt at tree climbing. Also, Minjae was always welcome to join them. It was not easier than the first. |

#TeamWizard So uh.....right looks like things were getting underway and they were happening fast too. Will decided he would guard some of the Muggles once some of them were caught but he might as well go about and try to catch some for himself to guard a bit later. He waited until he thought it was a good time to go out and search for some of his opposing classmates and decided Atlaries casting of a spell was a good enough trigger to go off on. He moved to pick up two more nets and carried them under his armpit while he kept his wand hand out and ready for action. They could attack him and he didn't like that. Or...Was Minjae just sitting there in the mud out in the open? He looked just as dejected and hopeless out here than he did back in the room. As the rain overhead them continued to pour down the young Slytherin just walked over to the Older Hufflepuff. Their Muggleborn Leader during the Field Trip. Was he going to retaliate?! He kept his wand pointed toward the Muggle, but he didn't want to cast a spell on Minjae unless Minjae was going to fight back. "Are you giving up?" William took one of his three nets and just lightly threw it over Minjae. |
freezing the ground Changes to the environment? "Sure." What was Nem here for, if not making life difficult. Usually when they were in a better mood, mind. Shame this wasn't really the moment for trying out Fiendfyre. The set-up was fine, and the activity itself would have been a suitable testing ground... but for the fact it was just a stupid little game. Aces. Jokers. This issue kept cropping up in Muggle Studies; Nem wouldn't have been surprised if Schmoe was doing it on purpose. They side-eyed him for a moment, then looked back out over the arena. Lesson area. Whatever. Reasonably sheltered from the rain - Schmoe was a decent stand in for an umbrella, if nothing else - Nem considered the situation for a moment, before saying simply, "Could probably take a few of these kids out permanently with the Tempest Jinx." That statement was really just for Schmoe's benefit - plus whoever was still in earshot, sure - because when Nem did turn their wand on the ground in middle of the cordoned off area, the spell they actually cast was a simple, non-verbal Glacius. Nothing fatal. So mild. |
#TeamWizard Quote:
The Gryffindor was trying not to trip over the net he had collected when Dahlia came dashing over. "Uh...with the net...maybe? We can toss it over some of the other team while th----" Not run away. Huh? It wasn't much of a game if most of the opposing team were just...sitting there. And then there was suddenly a downpour of rain...which seemed to only be around their area so that meant there were some weather charms in effect. "...um...over Bernie and my dormmate." ....but just as Atlas was taking a step, someone had frozen the ground and made it ENTIRELY too slippery for anyone with damp and muddy shoes like himself. And everyone else. Fist still holding on to the net, the first year slipped and hit the ground HARD. Wind somewhat knocked out of him, he flopped and flailed around on the icy ground that just caused him to slip and slide a bit like a penguin fresh out of the sea. Without the grace and balance. So...really...a lot more like a fish. He also manage to tangle himself up in the net. So. That was...great. |
Team Muggle (still hiding) Heath had been so laser-focused on finding a hiding place that at first he didn't notice the shrinking tree. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Claudine sliding down the trunk as it shrank. Had Schmoe gone completely insane?! What if she was in that tree when he shrank it? He could've seriously injured her! That thought alone was enough to make his frustration boil over. Not only had Schmoe created an activity that encouraged bullying, but he was actually helping one side pick on the other - something that no professor in this school, not even Rosier, had done! At least when Rosier's lessons pitted the students against each other, he mostly left them to their own devices rather than engaging. Was it possible to disown one's Head of House? Although Heath remained hidden behind the bush, still clutching the stick he found, he wasn't giving up like some of his teammates. He was lying in wait. Either that or he was trying to protect himself and others by hiding. In the mood he was now, he was liable to attack anyone who tried to capture him, and the small bit of compassion in him that hadn't yet died in The Room wouldn't allow that. Just when Heath thought he couldn't be any more frustrated with this nonsense, he overheard Upstead. It was all he could do not to scoff and give away his position. I'm sure you'd love that, wouldn't you? he thought darkly. He braced himself for the impact of a Tempest Jinx, but none came. Instead he saw the ground around his feet turning to ice. That was… actually helpful. As long as he didn't try to move, there was little danger of him slipping, and if the frozen ground didn't trip up his opponents before they got to him, his stick would finish the job. |
Team Muggleish I s'pose Quote:
She sniffed to herself, sucking a right bit of snot up her nose, and glanced over to the first year. Apollo. Yeah. Her housemate. A kid who had DEFINITELY heard her blustery speech at the start of this school year. In the common room, y'know? Remember common rooms? Gryffindor had a pretty swell room. Lotta couches and chairs, lotta cushions, lotta squishy substances to jump on and stand on and make speeches from.... yeah. "Right." She eyed the boy again. Was he even Muggleborn? Bernie was pretty sure he was not. He'd never had a broom yanked out of his hand because of his blood status. In fact, she was pretty sure he wasn't even assigned to Room with her. She paused as she eyed the kid, not noticing (naturally) anything Upstead and Schmoe were doing over yonder. But if she had noticed, she might have been 50% amused and 50% perturbed that Nem was encroaching on her role as OFFICIAL UNOFFICIAL MUGGLE STUDIES TEACHING ASSISTANT. Back to Apollo. "Don't think we are the same at all, Stark," she continued with another sinus-induced sniffle. "I'm sixteen and you're eleven." MAYBE twelve, but who cared. And yes, this was how she was choosing to interpret his innocuous words of comfort. "I'm Muggleborn. I'm trash. YOU'RE just being nice." And she wasn't having it; she was simply too caught up in the Sads to even care what was going on in their shared environment. "So why don't you just leave me alone, then? Can't even get ANY bloody alone time in Room, much less out here in Field, and you know what----" Well, she'd come to a conclusion. Bernie may as well just go grab her alone time for herself. She stood up to leave in a strop, to make a DRAMATIC exit from Apollo, but instead of managing to make it very far, she...... fell. Dramatically. A bit ol' classic slip-n-slide of a fall, losing control of her legs and bumping her head on the now-icy ground and starting a tailspin right toward.... Atlas Flamsteed? Was he pretending to be a mermaid or a fisherman or something? Why the heck else did he have a net? Either way, she was spinning toward him now like a well-greased bowling ball on its way to make a spare. |
*team* muggle Ignoring Claudine for the moment, Minjae turned his head to the left from his seated position in the puddle of mud and noticed the second year Slytherin getting closer. Instinctively, Minjae grabbed some of the mud behind him with his hand but as long as William did not use magic on him he would not throw it in his face. Was he giving up? He knew that he had meant the activity but Minjae was thinking further. Was he giving up? He remembered telling Ashley that he would fight against the injustice as long as he breathed but that was before the field trip, before the public torture of Professor Williamson, before he had witnessed Rosier killing an innocent muggle without remorse just because Kale had spoken against the man, before he and his friends had been send to the deepest pit of the castle purely because of their blood status. Now though... like this activity, resisting seemed futile and it would only result in pain for either the "muggle" or the "wizard". Minjae shrugged his shoulders at the Slytherin's question, not agreeing neither disagreeing and as he felt the net falling over his head he gave him a 'really?' look. His hands reached for the net as he tried to pull it off of him. "Don't bother, i'll walk to the closed off fence myself" he said, throwing the net aside and got up from the muddy water when it happened. He had not even straightened himself when the water suddenly froze over and the Hufflepuff lost his balance yet again. This time, he fell hard on the slippery ice, getting the wind knocked out of him and he cursed. "This is stupid . I'm done" with the activity or everything else , who knows. |
team wizard - mostly Kale and Mamie, oops Morgan thought this had the potential to be a fun game - using spells to chase after and catch their targets. But this year had been the worst and even if he thought a spell like Ebublio might be fun, there was still something barbaric in this after all the rhetoric that had been drilled into their heads day after day for months on end. Still, he started to walk after one of the younger students, with the intention of suggesting a more fun spell like the one he had in mind, when Nemesis Upstead caught his eye. Where was he going? They'd been acting suspicious all term and, while Morgan tried to dismiss it before, it was getting harder and harder to do so. He watched them over by Schmoe a minute, then turned to find that second year again, unsure if she needed any guidance or if he should just play this game on his own. But it wasn't sitting well with him. Morgan passed Bernie just sitting in the mud, eliciting a small frown from the boy. She'd just given up, hadn't she? And he supposed he could understand why. He certainly wasn't going to capture her without any sort of fight. That was unfair. Weren't any of them willing to play so he could enclose them in a bubble? But it was then that he'd caught up to Mamie and noticed that she was aiming at his buddy, Kale. Impulsively, he cast protego at the younger girl's spell, hoping to deflect any ropes that might come from her wand. Oops. He hadn't really thought first and would probably get in trouble now. But, man. His bro had been through a lot this year and forgive him for feeling a little protective. Sure, there were worse spells, but incarcerous wasn't a nice one. |
#teammuggle Quote:
"I don't think you're trash." Apollo said quietly. "Sure, you're older than me so we're different in age, but we were both accepted to attend Hogwarts. We were both sorted into Gryffindor. Maybe I am JUST being nice, but you looked like you needed it. I ...." Ugh, what could he say? She wouldn't believe him and she wanted to be alone!?! Oh. He swallowed, content to just let her go, when she started slipping toward his dormmate. "AR--Atlas!" He called, to the boy in hopes to get him to avoid a collision, hoping it was him not his brother, but also as he called, he made the mistake of standing up, which meant on the slippery ground, he too found himself slip back down and spinning down on the ice right after the older girl. Curse his small mass for making him slide quickly. |
Quote:
"Errr.. Yes, of course," he replied absently, his attention still on the students around-Wait. What? "No, no! None of that today!" COURSE CORRECTING. Because UH. YEaH. No striking people with lightning. Pls. Gabi would murder him. Also. Pls no. He wanted his students alive, that was the eNTIRE POINT. And then several strange things happened. A few of his students had in part, or entirely, given up. Nets were being thrown, but some of them.... did not end up where they were meant to be. Mr. Flamsteed looked... stuck. There was tree climbing, which was rather innovative and Finneas would be giving silent kudos to Ms. Fox and Ms. Blaze for that. No "muggles" actually ended up in the muggle pen. Which was... y'know. In all this mess, he hadn't even noticed Mr. McCarthy helping one of the team muggle students. All in all, the activity had sort of.... failed. Which....... was not a terrible thing when you did not like the activity to begin with. So. Errrrrrr. AnYwAy. Finneas began casting a series of spells. First to stop the rain. Second to get rid of the icy layer beneath them. Third to, er, lift the enchantments around the coned circle. And fourth to amplify his voice again. "Errrr. Everyone please, er, stop what you are doing," not that people were doing a whole lot of anything. That was the problem. "I'm, er, afraid we've r-run out of t-time for today." This was a relief. "For homework you will, er, be writing an essay on what you c-could have done b-better today. P-please come c-collect your things and, er, with that, class is dismissed." That was supposed to be a reprimand, but a) he wasn't very good at them b) he didn't think they deserved one to be honest. AnYwAy. OOC: And that's all folks! Thanks for joining us <3 ily. I'll leave this thread open for a little bit longer in case you want to RP your exit!! |
Ash decided that she preferred to climb down the tree instead of jumping. She wasn't THAT stupid, after all. She was a little disappointed that nobody had come for her to scare. Boringggg. She had never gotten to opportunity to show some wizards who was really in charge(people who knew how to climb trees or fight without magic, obviously). She retrieved her things. "Great, a short essay for once." Obviously she was being funny, but it was also very true. She and Claudine technically won the activity easily, so she couldn't see what she had done wrong at all. She smiled at the professor, in a weird sort of way. You know that feeling when you hurt someone or mortally wound them and they start to laugh like they know something you don't? Yeah. That was the feeling her smile gave. Because for all the disadvantages the world kept trying to give her, she was still on top. You know you're powerful when a guy two or three times your age tries to kill you just for saying that you deserve to exist. The hoodie squad was failing. They had everyone locked up, shut away, under the influence of their stupid propaganda, and they still couldn't stop little kids from fighting. Ha. Ha. ha. haha. |
SPOILER!!: people Apollo Something Ohnonononono! WAS being nice to Bernadette, and while it was true that she didn't believe him, she might dwell on those kind words of his later on when she was stuck in Room again. Fortunately, Schmoe saved them all just in the knick of time before bowling ball Bernie could properly hit her mark. "Wooooooo." The girl said dully as the ground suddenly turned back into mud. She laid there in the thick of it for a bit, not even caring how utterly, completely disgusting she looked, and then pulled herself up and out of the muck and mire. She stood simply in place and then fell into line, or whatever, following the Inquisitorial Squad, or whatever, to where they were supposed to go next, or whatever. Would they be receiving time for baths today? she wondered idly to herself. Or was bath day yesterday? It didn't matter and she didn't care, so. She was just doing as she was told. |
