| | |  Battlements
 High above overlooking the lake and a section of the grounds are the castle battlements. During the Battle of Hogwarts, the battlements where used to defend the school from Lord Voldemort and his allies. This is also where Sirius Black rode away on Buckbeak the hippogriff, but keep that hush hush. Though some damage remains, the battlements remain fairly intact and provide an opportune place to be when an enemy is approaching.
Though there hasn't been a full-blown battle at Hogwarts for many years, the battlements nonetheless provide a nice view from a high vantage point. More often than not, the Giant Squid can be seen bathing himself in the sunlight; thestrals (if you can see them) fly above the trees at the edge of the lake; and if you look closely you'll be able to follow the road that leads to the Entrance Gates. If you're feeling up to climbing the tight spiral staircase to get there, know that it is worth the effort. There are wooden crates and barrels for you to sit on at the top should you need to catch your breath.

Serena, huffed and puffed, but she really did not feel like she could blow a house down. Especially when she felt that she was about to fall down at any minute now. Why she thought it would be a good idea to hike - yes, it was basically a hike - from the dungeons, the lowest part of the castle, all the way to the freaking Hogwarts battlements?!
She braced against her knees and took a deep breath of the cool Scotland air. Looking around for the first time since reaching the top, the blonde couldn't help but smile. The view was amazing though, there was no denying that. Leaning on the crenellation, she sighed, half tiredly and half in appreciation.
Yes, the view was amazing, and totally worth the climb.

She didn't anticipate that someone else would be here. Um. Kizzy looked over at the older girl, wondering if there would be a way to kindly ask her to leave. Unfortunately, however, she was raised with manners and knew better than to ask for such thing. So instead, Kizzy just quietly made her way over to the edge too. Maybe one of the forest giants would be easier to spot from all the way up here??

She began; but as she did so, she notice that tops of several pine trees were bending away from one another in peculiar pattern, as if a large hand was bending them out of the way "Oh, but there appears to be one over there!" She exclaimed, pointing at the area "Its not a very big one I think, since you can't see it over the trees. But not a lot of creatures can bend trees out of the way like that."
Not even those dreadful Acromantulas that Professor Trent left them alone to deal with.

Serena chuckled at the younger girl's excitement. She had never seen someone this excited over giants before. "Maybe" She replied. Really, there was no telling what creatures would be in hiding in Hogwarts' vast forests. But a baby giant seems like a logical conclusion. "You could try. I can cast Sonorous on you, if want. It'll make your voice reaaaaaaally loud." It might scare off the birds - and maybe call the attention of several students on the lower levels, but maybe she'll get to chat with the possible baby giant too.

........ "Pinky promise?" She eyed her. Dying was not in the plan. Dying was the opposite of the plan. Kinsay had MANY plans and none of them involved dying! Especially without Emmerson. If she was going to die, she had to do it with her best friend. Obviously. That's how all the greats go.
Unlike Serena, however, Kinsay took no time to think of a response to the question posed. "That's easy. We do this." She pouted real deeply and made her eyes go all big. The cutest of cute looks. "That always works." Except on Bernadette. And Trent. But they were both horribly mean so Kizzy wasn't sure anything would work on either of them to be honest.

And she could see how she could get away with a lot of mischief, just with that one look. "But that's not going to work on Headmaster Trent - and with my luck this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the one that finds us." Then, as if thinking through it for a second, she shrugged "but whatever. Yolo I guess." She said with a grin.
Squaring her shoulders, and taking a second to straighten her robes (as if that had any effect on her spell casting ability. "You ready for this?"
Gently, she pressed the tip of her wand to Kinsay's neck and said in a strong and firm voice "Sonorous"
"Well? Did it work?"

"It always works," Kizzy replied with confidence though she didn't feel very confident about it at all. To be honest, she was starting to consider backing down from their plan... But... The words of one terribly mean Bernadette O. Grantham echoed in her head. Gryffindors were brave. Kinsay Cassandra James was sorted into Gryffindor House. "Yolo," she finally nodded.
Though the chances of anything terrible happening were significantly low, Kizzy still shut her eyes tightly as Serena pressed her wand close.
And ..... Nothing FELT different? So Kinsay frowned, shaking her head.
"I DON'T--"
In one swift motion, Kiz slapped her hand over her mouth. O__________________________o Was that HER voice? With wide eyes, she looked over at Serena and slowly lowered her hand.
"I THINK IT WORKED."
She was trying to whisper this time, but uh ... so much for that.

Oh my dear Merlin it actually worked!
The startled Slytherin blinked a couple of times in shock - with Kinsay's loud booming voice startling her away. She grinned at the younger girl excitedly before she looked around the empty battlements - her eyes lingering to the door way a little, as if expecting a professor to suddenly emerge from the closed door.
Then, shaking herself off from the reverie, Serena shook her head once more to clear her thoughts, pointed her wand at her own neck and whispered "Sonorous"
As the spell was cast, she felt a slight itch from inside her neck - similar to the feeling one would get prior to a bad cough. Then, she opened her mouth to ask "Do you think it worked?"
OOOOF. Oh yeah, that definitely worked!
She turned to Kinsay starting next to her, then wordlessly gestured towards the forest - hoping that she'd get the hint how they can now talk to the baby giant.

Kinsay James hardly ever worried about getting into trouble for rule-breaking. But to be fair, she didn't break rules very often. Not unless they were silly ones that didn't make any proper sense. Otherwise, her only rule-breaking ever occured with the best friend by her side and in those moments, Kizzy felt invincible. The only reason why she was even somewhat worried now was because Serena kept looking this way and that, as if expecting to be caught for doing something bad.
They weren't doing anything awful though. Just trying to meet baby giants, and really there wasn't anything wrong with that!
Kiz nodded, wincing slightly at the sound of Serena's booming voice. Again, attempting he best WHISPER (under the current circumstances), she spoke once more, "Can you go first?"

Serena had about to open her mouth to agree - but thankfully remembered that their voices where magically enhanced now. So, she settled for a nod towards the younger girl instead.
Turning towards the direction of the forest - where they last saw the baby giant, Serena braced herself against the stone battlements, took a deep breath then said "Hi there, are there any baby giants out there?"
Probably not her smartest question. But, it wasn't as if she knew how to actually speak to giants.
