| | | The Lions' Den Once you've given The Fat Lady the correct password, you'll enter the Gryffindor common room. On one side of the room is the game room; on the other is the gymnasium. At the back of the room are two spiral staircases leading to the dormitories: boys to the left, girls to the right. Two lion statues sit on either side of each staircase. Don't forget to give them a pat before heading to bed; you're sure to get a roar or a purr in return!
The circular space is decorated in the signature Gryffindor colors of scarlet and gold, and there are plenty of plush armchairs, sofas, and beanbags for lounging. The room's most prominent feature is a fireplace; over its mantel hangs a portrait of a lion. A large portrait of the house's founder Godric Gryffindor adorns the back wall. Several other tapestries and paintings depicting animals and famous Gryffindor alumni decorate the walls - who knows? You may even find some of the famous Harry Potter himself! There's also a plaque and a bulletin board on one side of the room. Don't forget to read up on important announcements!
this room is your home away from home during your time heare at Hogwarts. So, relax, take a load off! START OF TERM PARTY STARTS HERE! As you step into the common room, you will find the place completely decked out for Gryffindor's start-of-term party. Decorations in Gryffindor colours of red and gold adorn the room, as is to be expected, but most of the decorations are superhero and comic book themed, as this is the theme for tonight's party. A 'Welcome Back!' banner in red and gold comic-book-style letters is stretched across one wall, and streamers are spread around the room. Check out the balloons, decorated with pictures of superheroes, and which, when burst, do not pop but will instead play short bursts of theme music or emit memorable superhero quotes.
At one end of the common room a table is laden with food. In keeping with the theme, there are cookies decorated with comic book sound effects - 'POW!', 'BAM!', 'WHACK!', 'BOOM!', 'ZAP!', etc - that cause people to float a few feet off the ground when eaten. A large bowl of vivid green 'Kryptonite punch' sits in pride of place on the table, and will turn the drinker green once consumed. Scattered about the table are trays of regular drinks, some pumpkin pasties and cauldron cakes, and party platters of regular, non-magical food, full of sandwiches, mini pizzas, and other snacks. Have an allergy, intolerance, or other dietary requirement? Fear not, Professor Marchand has you covered, and every Gryffindor's needs have been catered to over at the food table; just be sure to check the labels.
Off to one side of the room is another table, this one set up with replicas of superhero-related gadgets, available for everyone to check out at their leisure. The gadgets set out are: Spiderman's web slingers, which can be fitted onto the wrist and produce silly string; Captain America's shield; Thor's hammer, Mjolnir; Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth; and non-sharp versions of Batman's Batarangs. Nearby, an activity is set up for any who wish to take part. Targets, moving at random, can be seen around this area in the form of cut-out comic book villains - the Joker, Dr. Doom, Lex Luthor, Magneto, and Catwoman, each appearing more than once. For the activity, use the web slingers or one of the other gadget replicas to hit the targets. Any student to hit five or more targets wins themselves some chocolate from Honeydukes sweet shop. Have fun! OOC note: It is up to the RPer to decide how long the Kryptonite punch will turn their character green for... anything between between a few minutes and a few days. This party will last ABOUT 2 WEEKS OOC (May 18) |

Sir Nicholas had no idea what to make of this year's party theme, but that didn't mean the ghost couldn't enjoy the festivities. He waved at a pair of young men (Edmund & Daniel) who he'd not yet greeted. "Hello, gentlemen! How are you this fine evening?"
It seemed the lady prefect (Anastasiya)had arrived at last. Sir Nicholas beamed as she addressed him and bowed to her in return. "Good evening, Anastasiya," he said. "Congratulations on your new appointment! Making Gryffindor prefect is quite a noble accomplishment."
The ghost bristled as his ears were assaulted, first by the noise level of young Beau's shouting, then by that dreadful nickname. "Young man, please address me as 'Sir Nicholas'," he scolded. As for the question asked... he could see this chap had succeeded in offending not only himself but the Head of House as well. "I should say I have," he replied. "Quite a dashing costume, if I do say so myself."
He smiled, giving Rylee a polite nod in reply to her greeting, but her conversation with Professor Marchand had the Gryffindor ghost baffled. What did capes have to do with one's ability to be a hero? Of course, the idea was complete hogwash, but the ghost was too polite to voice that thought out loud.

Out of the corner of his eye, Daehyun spotted the house ghost, prim and proper as always. "Sir Nicholas, hello!" He'd always felt regretful that he'd never had the chance to chat with Sir Nicholas - surely there were so many fascinating things he could learn from the ghost!
He could feel the levitating effect slowly fade away as he was floating closer to the floor and felt more secure. Though he might just try a second cookie, because they were irresistibly delicious. "I'm happy to be back at Hogwarts!" he answered the ghost truthfully. As much as he loved it back home, he missed practicing spells. What was it about that no-magic-outside-the-school rule, anyway?
"Did you have a nice summer?" He was curious if the nearly headless ghost still tried to apply for the Headless Hunt Club, but it would be beyond insensitive to ask, so he'd have to keep his endless curiosity at bay. |

| Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight "Yeah, Tinka, the feast was excellent," Abra replied to the elf, somewhat distractedly. The longer he spent in this room, the more intriguing he found the decorations. Listen, he didn't know anything about super-whatsits, so it was all very new to him. New, and very colourful, which was perhaps the most distracting thing. "... Huh? Oh, no, I'm okay, but thank you for the offer."
People were starting to arrive, and so Abra quickly sat upright and tried not to look so terribly wiped out. He balled up his Gryffindor robes and shoved them up against one of the arms of the sofa, before withdrawing his wand and casting a quick couple of 'Accio's at the food table, summoning a couple of mini pizzas and a drink.
What? It had been a long night. No use getting up when he was only going to sit back down again.
Oh, hey, it was Marchand, dressed as......
....... nope. No idea. "Hi Professor," Abra said, nodding at his head of house. "Oh..." Congratulations? He hurriedly cast a nervous look around the room, but he didn't see Zoryn anywhere just yet, and so allowed himself a smile. "Thank you, sir."
With the party now in full swing, Abra supposed he should probably get up and, well... mingle or something, but mingling was about as much not his thing as parties in general. Pizzas finished, he chewed on his lip, and instead leaned back against the sofa and generally played the part of the quiet kid on the sidelines. As long as he was here, that was the important thing, right? |

"No thanks necessary, Mr. Botros," he replied. "You deserve it." Beau's annoying laughter made his smile falter, but Sir Nicholas's effort to defend him kept it from disappearing completely. He gave the ghost a look of gratitude.
He breathed a silent sigh of relief, replacing his wand as Daniel said he was alright. "I understand," he said, nodding. "I'm glad you're okay." He couldn't blame him at all for being surprised by the levitation! He would've been caught off guard himself if he'd eaten one of those cookies without knowing about the effects. And speaking of which... his blue eyes widened in surprise at the compliment on his costume. Oh? Did he like Doctor Strange? "Thank you, Mr. Yoon," he replied. Then the conversation turned to the summer holiday. "My summer was lovely, thank you. I spent most of it in London with my wife and daughter. What did you do during your summer?"
He listened intently as Rylee told him about her summer, smiling at the answer. "That's always the best way to spend a summer, isn't it?" he replied. His expression changed as he considered what she said next. He hadn't really thought about giving capes as favors, but he supposed it made sense. Unfortunately, he had no spare capes to give, unless... "That is a very good idea, Miss Prichard!" he said. He removed his red Doctor Strange cape, and with a wave of his wand, it separated into many smaller student-sized capes.
He turned to face the group. "There are superhero capes here for those of you who'd like a party favor," he announced, flicking his wand, and the capes folded and stacked themselves neatly on a nearby table. He glanced at his watch. Merlin's beard! Was that the time? Hawthorne would never let him hear the end of it if he let these kids stay up much longer! "It's almost time for the party to wind down. THIRTY MORE MINUTES, then it's bedtime!" OOC: The party will continue for 3 MORE DAYS (Fri. May 18)

Rylee nodded. "Uh-huh. We had lots of fun. I spent nearly the whole summer outside," she told him honestly. It hadn't much mattered to her if it was raining or not she was out there playing in the rain. Summer was over now though and it was time for lessons once more. The small girl watched as her Head of House's expression changed from a smile to one of consideration? When he declared her idea a good one she beamed up at him full of pride. "Thank you, professor!"
With a look of astonishment, Ry watched as Marchard removed his red cape and made it into many smaller copies for them all. She was already bouncing on the balls of her feet before he could even finish in her excitement. YAY! She followed him over to the table to make sure she got herself on since it had been HER idea. It wasn't the color she wanted... and she wanted a couple of them for her own purposes but that she could handle on her own...however she did have a few more questions before they had to run off for bed. "Professor? Any charms I cast on this cape will eventually wore off, correct?" That was the way most charms worked as far as she understood things. Unless perhaps if he were to cast the charms for her maybe? "The charms aren't difficult ones but my magic isn't also the strongest yet." As was the case for most second years.

"Did you have a nice summer?" He was curious if the nearly headless ghost still tried to apply for the Headless Hunt Club, but it would be beyond insensitive to ask, so he'd have to keep his endless curiosity at bay. Young Daniel's reply earned a smile from Sir Nicholas. Splendid! That was exactly the attitude he liked to see in his young Gryffindors. "That's the spirit!" he exclaimed. "Keep that attitude, and I daresay we'll be on our way to a Gryffindor House Cup victory!" Oh, he did hope this would be the year they broke Slytherin's winning streak! The Baron would be most insufferable otherwise...
The ghost's expression soured at the mention of summer. The question was an unpleasant reminder of happy times spent in his life, never to be experienced again. "My summer was dismal, as usual," he said. "Once again, my request to join the Headless Hunt was denied!" One would think he'd give up after being denied entry every summer for over a hundred years, but Sir Nicholas DeMimsy-Porrpington was nothing if not persistent. At this point, he felt backing down would be an act of cowardice!
The ghost gazed longingly at the refreshment table. Oh, how he missed food! "How are the cookies?" he asked. We're they as delicious as they looked?

Hogwarts RPG Name: Sydney M. L. Masters Slytherin Sixth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Maddox B. Buchanan Gryffindor Seventh Year | Quick post to wrap up the party Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ ❄ Showtunes > Everything ❄ ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Gaston smiled at Rylee. "That sounds like a fun summer!" he said. Not that he would know... ever since he could remember, his summers had been spent cooped up indoors. "My summer was just the opposite. I spent most of it inside." Well, other than the occasional outing to the park or Diagon Alley. He almost laughed to himself as he remembered how Desiree was to go for a walk in the park.
Seeing the way she beamed at him melted his heart, and he couldn't help but beam back at her. "You're very welcome, Miss Prichard!" Then the conversation turned to charms. He thought for a minute, considering her questions. "Yes, almost all charms wear off eventually. Which ones were you thinking of specifically?" If he knew what she wanted to do, maybe he could help her find a more permanent solution. "If you stop by my office sometime, I'll help you find some more permanent spells to do... whatever you have in mind."
He glanced at his watch again. Wow, it must be true that time flies when you're having fun! "For now, I think you'd better be off to bed," he said, then he turned to the group once more. "It's been a fun party, but now it's time to call it a night. Off to bed, everyone! Good night; I'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning!" OOC: And with that. the start-of-term party is officially over! Thanks to everybody who posted!

| Planning Post :: Flying Long-Term Assignment Arts TRANSPONSTER! Anna brought her notebook, quill and ink pot to the Common Room to finally start writing down everything she was going to do for the flying assignment.
Truth be told, she had always had plans in her head and she did execute them, alright. She just never had the need - or desire - to write them down and keep track of them. Yeah, yeah, it was probably helpful and useful to see the progression one made in a period of time, but... who had time for that, really?? Or the patience, in her case.
Mehhhhhh. She'd rather be outside training than sitting there writing plans.
She had decided not to complain too much about this assignment, however, because it WAS flying, after all, and it was ALL going to be related to training and fitness, which was Anna's THING! Way better than silly Potions or Transfiguration homework, that was for sure.
Anyway, she had to think now. The part she wasn't very fond of. She felt like going for a run now, or at least going to find Koen so he could teach her some new moves.
OH YEAH, that could be one of her goals!!!
The third year stopped waving the tip of her quill under her nose and finally got some ink on it to start writing.
Nope, she couldn't just pick ONE minor goal. That just wasn't how she rolled at all. Anna wanted it ALL and she wanted it all NOW. Which was why she got up as soon as she finished writing, closing the notebook, quickly screwing the top of the ink pot back on and rushing to her dorm to toss all of those things on her bed before running back down towards the Common Room and out through the Fat Lady portrait.
She was already in training gear and was MORE THAN READY to get started! NOW! |

| Greetings, esteemed Gryffindors! Resident Ghost of Gryffindor | Chivilrous & Sociable
Sir Nicholas floated into the Gryffindor common room, humming a little tune to himself. After a couple of bars, he stopped. "Oddbodkins, that sounds dreadful!" he said to himself. He tried a jauntier, more upbeat tune, but he wasn't happy with that one either. "Oh, goodness, no! That will never do!"
He started to hum a slower song. Yes, he liked that one! He bobbed up and down in time to the music. Now he just needed words to go with it!
