| | |  Gobstones Preliminary Match: Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw
 The building used for the Gobstones matches had its doors open against the late September warmth. Its surfaces magically dusted by Professor Vance and Professor Stewart, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's first preliminary match.
The red and blue marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.
OOC: Remember only members sorted into Gryffindor and Ravenclaw Houses can post in this thread, it is not a chat thread and there is no rping.
Read the Gobstones Rule book before playing and if you did last term, please check again for potential updates and changes.

Professor Vance walked into the gobstones building with a shawl wrapped around her shoulders against the light wind on the otherwise warm September morning, with Professor Stewart and they together set up the hall for the first match lightening the fireplaces. On the way down from the castle the two had seen some signs that the creatures and nature was beginning to prefare for the fall.
As the teams assembled Laurel put her wand to her mouth to enhance her whistle to get the players attention, a smile pursing her lips. "Good morning and welcome to the Gobstones club, today's our first Preliminary match of the season. I hope you're all as excited and geared up as me and Professor Stewart are!" Not waiting for any responses Laurel quickly signalled for the teams to choose their representatives for the first shot of the game.
"Let's begin!"

Lancelot McWitty headed out on to the court with the Gryffindor shooter side by side with Mason Winslow of Ravenclaw that was carrying their shooter. The two fifth year boys swung their shooters and released their stones on Professor Vances signal. The blue marble picked up pace quickly as it made it past the first 5 obstacles but then between the blink of an eye and the next it had stopped just short of a new obstacle. The red marble surpassed its opponent and two more obstacles to claim the first point.
"First point of the match goes to Gryffindor!" Laurel declared from the sideline.

Gryffindor switched players as first year Timmy Jones went out to take up his position with the lion shooter next to third year Jace Reed who had come on for the eagles by the starting line. Timmy seemed to have picked up some sort of luck with his next try with the shooter. He was getting his house's stone closer and closer to the Ravenclaw's stone, and the goal in extension. "3 points to Gryffindor at the end of the first round. Gryffindor leads 6-0 as we head into the second round! Come on Ravenclaw!" Laurel cheered on.

After a short break Lancelot took to the court for the lions while the eagles tested Cassandra McNally. The duo swung their shooters, released their stones and watched their stone sped off down towards the first obstacle. Unluckily for the eagles their marble took a heavy swerve off to the right and out of play just after rounding the second obstacle. The red marble surpassed its opponent and four more obstacles to claim the point before it stopped.
"First point of the second round goes to Gryffindor! Come on eagles." Laurel cheered on from the sideline.
