Muggle Studies Lesson 1: Helping Hands

The crisp November air sweeps through the Muggle Studies classroom as you step inside, though it looks nothing like a classroom today. Instead you'll find yourself standing in an abandoned city lot of sorts. Overturned buckets are scattered here and there among the trash, leaves, and fallen branches that litter the ground. Broken fencing lines three of the four walls of the classroom, while the fourth appears as old red brick, some of which has been painted by graffiti. A few busted and broken tires complete the scene, making you wonder what could've happened to this place. All in all, it's quite dismal.

Moxley can be found seated on one of the larger tires, dressed in old jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Her hair has been pulled back and her trainers are worn, a clear indication that the muggle studies professor is here to work. So come on in and pull up an overturned bucket or tire, soon you'll be working too.

CLASS IS NOW OVER!
Thanks for coming!

OOC: If you jump into class from this point-forward, PRETEND your charrie has been here ALL ALONG! Otherwise you risk losing house points! Also, please be familiar with the rules!

It was time for Muggles Studies and so Rachel made her way to the classroom. She always adored Professor Moxley's lessons. They were always such fun as was the woman herself. Today, her hair was tied back in one instead of the usual two plaits because of the instructions posted. She was also wearing comfortable clothing.

She frowned upon entering the classroom. Was she in the right place? Her eyes took in the chaos all around: the upturned buckets, the leaves, branches and debris that were scattered about. Rachel realised she was at the correct place when she saw their Headmistress.

Carefully, she weaved her way through everything to come to a stop close to her Professor. "Hello, Professor Moxley,'' she stated and smiled sweetly. "This is such an unusual setting for a class.'' Rachel opted for an over turned bucket and took a seat on it.

Dress in comfortable clothing. That was what they had been told about today's Muggle Studies lesson. So as called for that's just what she did. A pair of dark blue jeans, white long sleeved shirt with that had butterflies on it, and her black trainers were her attire for the day.

Making her way to the room Hady stepped a few steps inside where she seemed to stop and just look around. Whoa. Just whoa.

Now this was different. It made her think of some of the more run down areas of town back when she lived in America. It was odd and left much to think about or the days lesson. "Hello Professor Moxley, how are you today?" She greeted quietly selecting an old tire to sit upon and setting her bag down at her feet.

Where was everyone else? It felt weird being so early.

Scarlett was always excited for Muggle Studies because - well, her dad sold books to muggles, so she'd grown up around them. She usually excelled in these lessons because of it.

Except when she walked in...it was NOT the classroom she was expecting. In fact it looked like she had walked into a post-apocalyptic young adult novel. Maybe that was what they were going to be talking about? Or zombie thrillers? Something along those lines? Whatever it was, Scarlett was nervous.

"Hello Professor!" she said happily as she sat down on an old crate. Moxley wouldn't do anything to harm them, she knew - whatever they were doing, even if it was scary, would be totally controlled by her.

Azura walked into the muggle studies classroom with a bit of a heavy heart. This had been one of the classes that she and Jazzy had talked about together, and she hadn't seen him in a month or so.. She bit her lip and tried to look alive.. before pausing as she looked around the class room...

Oh Fwoopers.. She was going to die in here wasn't she?

Her bright purple eyes swept over the messy looking classroom and she tugged at her hair which was in a braid down her back.. Right..

Let's see if she could make it to a "seat" without breaking anything first!

She hesitantly waved at the Professor "Hello Professor." She said with a bit of a wave, before carefully and slowly picking her way across the littered classroom to an overturned tire next to Rachel. She waved at her dormmate before gingerly sitting down and looking around..

Dear Merlin please let me make it out of this! She thought to herself.

Olivia had read the notice so she was ready.

One Ravenclaw dressed in an older pair of jeans, sneakers and a shirt she didn't mind getting dirty headed down to the Muggle Studies classroom for the latest lesson. Her long hair tied back in a secure braid down her back as instructed. She wasn't sure what to expect other than it was bound to be getting messy and energetic by those rules. And fun she supposed in the midst of all that which she was also ready for.

The first year stepped into the classroom, her book bag with her textbook and such slung over her shoulder. Except it didn't look like a classroom...it looked like a rundown place...a junk yard she supposed. "Hello Professor," she greeted the woman, having settled on using one title in the classroom and the other anywhere else. She was one of the first ones there, offering a friendly smile to both Hady and Rachel before pulling up a tire to her housemate and taking a seat. "Hey..."

Thank goodness for no skirts for sure.

Janelle arrived for Muggle Studies and stopped short as she entered the classroom. She had seen a lot of different classroom settings in her time at Hogwarts, and this set up was definitely unusual. For a moment, she took it all in. Then, spotting Professor Moxley, the Ravenclaw greeted her.

"Hello Professor. I can't wait to see what you have planned for us today." Whatever it was, it was most certainly going to be interesting. Looking around, Janelle was glad that she had followed the instructions and dressed down for the class. This was definitely not the place for school robes or fancy attire. Following her classmates' lead, Janelle sat down on an overturned bucket and waited for class to begin.

Dante wondered if Moxley ever did hear the excuse 'I was carrying a first year on my back while fleeing an angry Hungarian Horntail and was late' because while it was hilarious. It was a horrible excuse. And second he would probably had died with the first years. The odds where not in that person favor. Now where was this suppose to be. Looked like we were in now of those gangster movies where they all meet out of town to settle disputes. And Moxley looked like she was the one who would tell you where this was happening for a price.

"Hey Professor, you look like you are ready to fight someone or show us where a fight is taking place"

Yeah he knew that would never be the case.

But it was amusing to think about

Expecto-Penguin 01-20-2016 11:55 PM

Colt heard there was a muggle studies lesson. He always wanted to go to it. He heard Kace talk about it and it sounded like something he would like. He made his way to the classroom and he was glad he managed to find it. He could remember little things from the previous year. He opened the door and noticed that it was an unusual setting. This place look like the city would look like. Something he was born into before he moved to Durmstrang. He looked around and observed his surroundings. He was impressed and he saw graffiti on the walls. "Nice nice.." he said out loud. He looked to the front and noticed the teacher and her attire. He chuckled and couldn't help but laugh. He thought it was great with the theme. "Nice outfit professor. I'm taking you going to be active in the lesson as well?" Whatever they are gonna learn.

He read the noticeboard and wore his comfortable clothing. He didn't mind getting his converse dirty, his plaid shirt or his black t shirt underneath. He was gonna have an awesome time. "Let me tell you painting is one of my specialties especially graffiti.." he pointed to the wall and was telling the professor. Good job with Kace teaching him the art.

Muggle Studies...who knew what this would be all about. Ariadne hadn't had much experience with the Muggle world, so she was completely out of her element. She'd find out soon enough, though! She made her way down the first floor corridor and into the Muggle Studies classroom. She expected...well, she expected something really, really different than what she saw. The placed looked like a complete and total MESS.

She eyed the trash, leaves, branches, and broken fences. "HEADMISTRESS!" she called out, seeing the woman sitting in a tire. "Did you get ROBBED? Do you need some help?" She had lots and lots of questions, and in her eleven-year-old eyes, this was all an accident, and it hadn't occurred to her just yet that this was all a set-up.

Everybody else was sitting on tires and buckets, so Ariadne chose a nearby tire and hesitantly took a seat.

Goblinfrog 01-21-2016 12:28 AM

Kitty was wearing her usual Gothic robes. They weren't exactly working clothes, bit they were comfortable - at least to her. Muggle Studies was the lesson she was looking forward to more than any other lesson, and she didn't want to show up in any outfit that did not express her personality. As she walked to class, Kitty wondered what their lesson would be like.

Her mouth hanged open as she stepped inside. There were things lying everywhere! "Hi Professor Moxley!" Kitty greeted the Professor and approached her. "Are we going to clean?"

littledhampir 01-21-2016 12:43 AM

Olly may have had a little bit of glitter on his face. That happened when you spilled a bottle on your bed. Glitter was hard to clean, you know. He had done the best he could, but it was difficult. So his face was a little bit glittery, especially on his left cheek. But whatever. He was fine with it.

"Hello Professor Headmistress." His voice may have been a bit louder than he intended. Oops. He had a lot of energy today. Hopefully that would be fine for whatever activity they were going to do in class. Like...clean? That sounded boring. Olly made his way over to the wall with the graffiti on it and studied that. Could he add some more?

weasleyrima 01-21-2016 01:36 AM

Muggle Studies.
It would be another exciting lesson. She always wanted to go to it. Wearing a pair of comfortable clothes she pulled back her hair. She hopes it wouldn't look so weird in her.

Jessie walked in to the class before stop in her track. Her green eyes widened in shock. She tought that she was getting lost again. It didn't look like a class bytheway.

buckets... broken tires...what happened in here?

Then Jessie could see someone seated on the large tires. Dressed in 'muggle style' clothes like herself. The lioness pulled her lips into shy smile and nodded.

" Hello Professor Moxley. Nice Class. You make me think that I'm attending the wrong class.

She turning her gaze to observing her surrounds. Her eyes caught the Ravenclaw girls she met in History of Magic lesson.

Glad to see them again.

"Hi..." she smiled and greeted them.

Jessie didn't want to wasting more time so she walked closer to another students before grabbed a bucket and take a seat on it.

Callie 01-21-2016 02:59 AM

This was one of Hadley Denaker's favorite classes. She knew all about muggles, as she'd been a muggle (in her head at least) a lot longer than she'd been a witch. They were her people. Which, yes, did make it a bit redundant to her... but, well, it was also Davie Truebridge's worst class, and that made it a great class in Haddie's head.

Haddie strode into the class, grinning with enthusiasm. "Hey, Mox....xy?" Her voice trailed away in confusion. "Why exactly does the classroom look like an inner city abandoned lot?" She pulled up a bucket and sat next to Rachel.

BanaBatGirl 01-21-2016 03:28 AM

Was he walking behind who he thought he was walki--- ugh, yes. For the love of Peeves the Poltergeist's petty pranks, Haddie Dunceaker was in front of him. Walking into Muggle Studies behind her was like following a trail butterflies who dropped twopence coins as they walked. That's how happy she was to be in this class. That's how BOUNCY she was as she entered the class. In other words, following Haddie could have been fun, but really it was awful, because she was so good at his worst subject. And they both knew it. And she liked reminding him of this. And the fact that he had to stare at the back of her head the whole way here JUST MADE MATTERS WORSE, OKAY.

At least David knew what twopence coins were now, thanks to Moxley's book he had been reading. He'd bet twopence that Haddie still didn't know what a Diricawl was though. He was still scowling at the sight of her blonde head ahead of him, and thus picked out a seat on the opposite side of the room from the girl. "Hello, Headmistress," he greeted the professor-leader stoically as usual, then sat carefully on the edge of his abandoned tire, and waited for class to start.

No, he wasn't curious why they were sitting in a room that looked like a vandalized alley. No, he didn't want to know why they were wearing Muggle clothes and not wizard robes. All he wanted to know was how he could excel at this subject. Because that would probably be a good way to get one-up on Haddie Dunceaker.

Cassirin 01-21-2016 04:14 AM

For the record, Dot was comfortable in heels, sandals, combat boots, and wedges. She was comfortable as long as she felt in control of herself and her wardrobe, so it took a little interpreting to get 'dress in clothes that can get dirty and won't get you killed in a dragon attack' from something as innocuous as 'dress comfortably'. She'd opted for jeans and a long-sleeved tee, along with said boots, and based on Moxley's attire, Dot had chosen wisely.

"Hullo, Professor Moxley. Congratulations on your promotion," Dot smiled briefly at the professor before pulling up a bucket nearby. Was it clean? Cleanish? Cleaner than the ground? Close enough.

WhittyBitty 01-21-2016 04:37 AM

Well, this was different.

Were they in a post-apocalyptic world? Would zombies come out and attack them? Esme had no idea what was going on, but at least Professor Moxley and some of her fellow classmates were standing nearby. Safe.

Of course they were; she was just being silly.

"Hello, Professor," she said as she reached the group. Esme smiled at Rachel, Hady, Scarlett, Azura, Olivia, and the boy she had met at Sugarplums. His name was David, right?

Steelsheen 01-21-2016 05:10 AM

Whoah hello dystopian society....

Tenacius walked into the classroom and looked around. Ok now he understood why the comfy clothes that he wouldnt mind getting dirty. Although this was kinda his favorite hoodie. Lets hope the Hogwarts house elves were as good with laundry as those he had back home.

"Heya Headmistress!" the curly top greeted his Professor, then eyed the tires. Cool! Can he make an impromptu ghetto swing? Oh there he goes, hoisting a tire up on a chain....

itsjustjesse 01-21-2016 05:19 AM

The walk to the first floor had taken fooooorever. Looking into the room Melbourne just grinned Professor Moxley seemed like she was cool…she was even wearing old jeans! Old jeans were the best! “Hello Professor Moxley!” Melbourne grinned at the Professor and smiled.

Then looking around the room she paused to give Scarlett a giant excited wave before walking over and spotting Haddie she just waved before sitting down on a tire near the girls. “Hiiiiiiiiii!” She waved over to Haddie and her friend (Rachel). “I’m Melbourne,” she introduced herself quickly to Rachel and grinned.

“Doesn’t this place look awesome? Is this like those places that are all fenced off that you told me about?” Melbourne asked, because the broken rundown alley kind of made her think of those dingy ghost-hunting-places Phil sometimes went to. "Aaaace sit with me! This is Haddie! I just met her the other day she's cool...she's practically a Gryffindor" Mel beamed at her best-neighbor-friend.

Hera 01-21-2016 05:33 AM

He was curious of all classes that told them to wear comfortable clothing, it meant they'd be... active, in most cases. But Muggle Studies?? They weren't playing sport, were they? Either way, he was dressed for it. Track pants, a plain shirt, hoodie and running shoes. But...

Apparently not.

Zeke gazed around the room as he entered, and while enchanted classrooms weren't abnormal at Hogwarts, it was still weird. Nevertheless, he could appreciate the decrepit-city-esque scene. It partly reminded him of his old home, if he could even call it that. Still, it didn't quite have the Birmingham flare, this was something else.

"Hello, Professor Moxely," the fifth year Gryffindor greeted as he came to stand near where she sat. Sooooooo... not sport then, huh?

...

The cool ones are the ones that have buildings or bridges or whatever on them, but they've been abandoned and are falling apart because no one's been in them or fixed them up for years and years." She grinned. Like that mall a few blocks from her home in LA. It had been damaged in an Earthquake and despite the sign on the fence outside of it saying it was being repaired, it never was. That had been incredible to explore. Until she was caught that was. "Moxxy, can we do an abandoned building theme next?"

Haddie waved at the boy Mel was calling over. "Hi, Ace."

LestrangeRaven 01-21-2016 07:05 AM

Raven felt enthusiastic with the muggle studies class, as soon he read the notice, he spruce his belonging and went to the class

He wore his favorite Tshirt, with his favorite band pictures in it, a pair of sneakers, a hoodie jacket and a jeans, he look like an ordinary muggle now

As soon he arrived, he try to find a place to sit in a very crowded place filled with bucket and other stuffs..

He try to find the professor and when he does, he greet the professor

"Hello, Professor" he smile

WeasleyGirl 01-21-2016 07:08 AM

Entering the Muggle Studies classroom was a bit odd. Hugo stared at everything. Why was it all...messy? Well, he was sure it involved some activity because then they wouldn't have been asked to wear clothes that didn't mind to get dirty. And yeah he was kind of excited so he was wearing pretty comfortable clothes, some old jeans and a black t-shirt. Simple but nice.

"What's up, Professor...Headmistress?" said Hugo with a smile. He wasn't sure on how to address Moxley. So, why not both? Heh.

RandomRaven 01-21-2016 07:16 AM

One thing that she loved from Muggle studies class, school uniforms weren't that necessary. Moxley always allowed them to wear any kind of comfortable outfit, as long as it's still appropriate. The young lioness decided to put on her track pants, along with the black converse and her ultimate favorite Chelsea football jersey because... why not? She also put on a beanie hat to cover her long brunette hair.

Entering the classroom, the young lioness noticed that it looked like... one of the abandoned alley around her neighborhood. It's look creepy, and strange. "Good day, Headmistress." She smiled at the woman. "Are we gonna fight with some punk kids who like to bother hopeless people around?" Well, maybe not. Ava chose to take a seat near Olly. "Hey, have you talked to her about Noelle?" Suddenly she asked. She remembered that he wanted to ask the headmistress about her leaving.

SilverTiger 01-21-2016 07:55 AM

The directive to wear clothing they didn’t mind getting dirty was only partly ignored by Brooklyn, as she’d made her way to Muggle Studies. For once, she’d actually been dressed nearly casually, in dark leggings, a loose t-shirt and a denim jacket, but she still had a pair of ballet flats on. It was sort of dressy casual, but she was still prepared for whatever was going to happen. That and she had her hair up in a messy crown braid. It was harder to accomplish by herself than she’d thought when her mother had given her one years ago. Either way, her hair was up and she was ready.

She still had walked into the classroom with her head held high, ignoring the fact the classroom looked like a dingy alleyway back home. That wasn’t exactly unexpected, considering the Transfiguration classroom had often been transformed into something else when they’d had Professor Bellaire. Expecting the unexpected should have been normal to everyone, except for maybe the first years.

Either way, she’d given Professor Moxley a smile, heading for the tire on which Hady was perched. “Hello Professor Moxley,” she said, only taking a moment to wonder if she should have addressed her as headmistress. It hadn’t seemed to be a big deal, so she’d just continued on her way, sitting next to Hady on the tire and settling her bag at her feet.

Stefan 01-21-2016 10:28 AM

People! Hi, Melbourne! :)

Jace didn’t like the idea of getting dirty in any of his classes, BUT, if he’s going to learn so much from the lesson today, he won’t mind getting himself, and his clothes soiled. He supposed it can be reversed by a good old bath, and lots of cleaning spell. The tiny Ravenclaw stepped into the classroom, and stepped back twice, obviously surprised by the setup. It wasn’t an ordinary classroom, definitely, and it looked...so dirty. Jace cringed at what he saw, and gently slapped his face with his right hand to get his act together.

Slowly, he entered the room, and immediately spotted the Headmistress. With a relaxed grin, Jace scuttled toward her, and gave her a bow. “Hello Professor Moxley.” The half-Japanese said. Upon closer observation, the woman meant business today. She was, after all, wearing her hair in a ponytail. With a nod, he looked around the room and saw his fellow Ravenclaws. He immediately spotted familiar faces, particularly Azura, Esme, Ava, and Scarlett. Jace gave them a nod and a wave. The tiny Ravenclaw then took a seat near Rachel, and gave her a discreet wave since she’s with another girl. Jace’s brown eyes shifted from Rachel to her companion (Mel), and gave her a polite nod and grin too.

Hello, person!

Hello, person!

Melbourne was listening with rapt attention to what Haddie was describing and grinning like a madwomangirl. “That sounds really awesome…I’ve never actually been to an abandoned lot” Mel admitted with a shrug of her shoulder. It wasn’t that common of a thing to find in Ambleside really…when Haddie said hi to Ace Mel just grinned. “He’s been stubborn lately and goes all ‘My name is Tenacius’ at people…but I think Ace is cooler…I mean c’mon its like what people say when they get good grades even” Mel laughed.

Oh there was movement and a little first year was now sitting near their group. Well…at their table. The brunette bounced up her and moved closer to the first year. “Hiiiii!” She waved excitedly. “I’m Melbourne, I don’t think we’ve met yet…” she smiled over to Jace.

Jace’s ears went pink...and so did his cheeks. It was quite weird to meet people from a different house, really. The Ravenclaw’s grin remained, but he sort of hid behind Rachel, not accustomed to energetic greetings and extroverted individuals in general. It didn’t mean that he doesn’t like her, just...a little bit shocked with the energy surrounding this girl.

It took Jace a few seconds to register that the girl was simply being friendly, and just wanted to be acquainted with him. There’s nothing wrong with that, right? The Ravenclaw slowly revealed his face, and shook his head. “No, we haven’t.” He said. “Hello. I’m Jace.” He added. “What house are you from? I haven't seen you around the Ravenclaw tower before.” It was kind of hard to tell because they weren’t wearing their uniforms for today’s lesson.

He must have been shy right? That’s what Mel’s instant thought was when he basically hid behind the other girl she obviously still needed to meet. When he fiiiiiinally said something she just smiled at him.

“It’s nice to meet you Jace!” Yep, he was shy it seemed…wait he was a Ravenclaw like Haddie! “You’re a Ravenclaw? That’s cool I was almost a Ravenclaw – I’m a Gryffindor thought…it probably took you just about the same amount of time as it did me to get down from the towers” she grinned. “do you like it? Ravenclaw that is?” She asked happily her energy slowing somewhat as she saw how nervous he had seemed.

She was still bouncy more because that was how she always was. Her energy never ever fully went away.

"Ace is also fighter pilots that have shot down hundreds of enemy planes, but..." Haddie shrugged. "Hi Tenacious!" she corrected herself. She agreed with Melon, Ace was so much better.

"Abandoned buildings are amazing! We'll have to find one for us to explore over the summer," she started to tell Mel, when another boy (Jace) sat down, and waved to Rachel, and nodded to Mel... and well, ignored Haddie. What? Was she invisible? Was he a friend of Davie's? Wait, he was a Ravenclaw??

Haddie stretched out her arm to wave right in Jace's line of sight. "Hello person I've never met. How are you a Ravenclaw? I've literally never seen you?" Was she invisible to him? Maybe they'd both been invisible to each other! Okay, coolest spell ever! Can someone cast that on her and Davie so they never had to see each other again?

Anyone to Chat for a bit?

Tory had wondered why they had to wear clothes they wouldn't mind getting dirty. He took extra precaution in case they were going to have to get really messy by getting his hair in braids today instead of his typical puffy fro.

Then he walked into class...or well, um...a really gross looking lot of sorts. He noticed all the others in class sitting on tires, and buckets and spotted the Headmistress not to far off doing the same. He waved to here. "Hi Missus Professor Headmistress Moxley" Very uncertain of what her title actually was.

The young lion snagged a bucket near some other students, and sat down.

Poolicious 01-21-2016 04:03 PM

The truth is she prefer to wear comfortable clothes during the lesson. SO when Moxley said they need to wear comfortable clothes, she's more than happy to do so but she also said 'didn't mind getting dirty'. That part she's not looking forward too. When the Prefect entered the classroom, she understood why the Professor had to add the getting dirty part. The classroom looked like an abandon city. What's going on here?

"Hello, Professor." She greeted the Professor with a curt nod. She was glad that Moxley didn't put that high fives rules again this term. No more weird rules.

DaniDiNardo 01-21-2016 04:07 PM

He was sharing this tire with Davie, yup. Decked in muggle stuff, big 'ole smile on his face and the most chipper greeting offered to the Professor. "Have a feeling it's gonna be another brilliant class, Professor." And he wasn't just buttering her up, Blaise Bellaire genuinely liked any class that told him to forsake his wand. Just so happened this one did it the most and the most extensively. It was amazing.

"Scowl any harder and your face will freeze that way." He commented lightly to his friend as he looked around the place. It kinda looked like one of those places his mum would never let him visit on his own.

See? Muggle Studies took them PLACES.

Vaguely, he heard Ava asking Olly about Noelle and he was kinda wondering the same.

Muggle studies was definitely one of the subjects that Tia considered to be easy, mostly because she grew up in muggle society, with her father being muggle and all. Not to mention that Moxley had an interesting take on the subject and her lessons never seemed to be a bore. When the notice about today's lesson had said comfortable clothing, Tia had expected something active such as playing a muggle sport, but once again, Moxley surprised her.

She did not expect to be standing in an abandoned city lot filled with overturned tires and buckets and graffiti on the walls. Standing there with with yoga pants and sneakers and a Ravenclaw T-Shirt, Tia was grateful she had least remembered the comfortable clothes. Even if they wouldn't be playing a sport, it seemed they would be active in a different way, so being comfortable was definitely well-advised as Moxley had indicated.

"Good day, Headmistress Moxley," Tia beamed at the woman as she deliberated where to sit a moment. "Congrats on your promotion, by the way," Because she hadn't yet had the opportunity to say as such to the newly promoted interim head. Now, where to sit. She guessed one of the overturned buckets was as good as any... though the tires did look mighty comfy too . . .

lemon 01-21-2016 04:54 PM

The headmistress was teaching a class— a clear indication to Dima that he needed to avoid dozing off in this lesson period. While he used to sleep in Muggle Studies when he was younger (it was usually awfully boring), Moxley never disappointed. He was sure he'd have no trouble, or at least not as much of a struggle as in Arithmancy, staying awake.

His suspicions were reaffirmed upon his entry into the room. Uhhhh.... this was not the norm, right? He wasn't the only one looking around in a lot of confusion, was he? Why did it smell like burning rubber?

Trying to keep his cool (however much he had in the first place, lulz), Dima greeted the professor and then pulled up the least rusty bucket he could find and made himself at home.

VRSCIKA 01-21-2016 05:08 PM

When Ilia walked into the classroom, she was immediately second guessing having not dropped this class. Really, she only passed it because of Henric. The 'classroom' looked like a dismal trash heap and her pretty face went from stoic to a slight frown. Sweet Circe, what was this? She was glad that she headed the comfortable clothes part. A plain pair of black jeans, a black and green plaid checkered long sleeve with the sleeves rolled up, and a pair of black boots. Her long hair was braided back so that it stayed out of her way. "Good Morning, Headmistress." She nodded her head with her customary bow as she stood somewhat farther into the classroom. Sorry, she was NOT getting rusty bucket butt or getting her butt stuck into a tire either. No no, she was standing for this. Rusty bucket butt just....the thought appalled her.

Bluuuuuuh just look at Dunceaker, over there chit-chatting to all the girls she was friends with. She was probably even friends with Rachel the one with the hair; nay, she was probably BEST friends with Rachel. Stupid Haddie. Stupid Haddie for making him scowl like this.... Davie almost didn't even notice the Hufflepuff girl looking at him. But then he did, and he recognized her from Sugarplum's, and he thought she was just looking at him and smiling meanly at him because Haddie was probably spreading rude rumors about him. RUDE RUMORS! All together, Esme's smile toward Davie just made the Ravenclaw scowl all the more. MORE SCOWLS. SCOWLING ALL THE TIME. ALWAYS SCOWLING IN THIS CLASS ALWAYS.

David reluctantly shook himself out from his scowl-worthy thoughts as Blaise joined him on the tire. Thank goodness he was here to save him from this stupor, though, because now his tire-seat would be better balanced. But he didn't say that just yet.

At the mention of his scowl, Davie looked up and gave his friend a shrug, his forehead just a little less creased. "Maybe if I had a permanent scowl, people would leave me alone and not try to steal my tire seat..." he replied sardonically. After a beat, though, David did crack a smile for his friend. Were they going to have to pretend to be bums today? Because Davie was in the perfect mood to be a bum. He leaned in toward Blaise a bit as he was struck by the idea of being a bum. "No really, I'm glad you're here." He lowered his voice. You gotta help me take down this first year chick... her name is Haddie..."

He had just hefted the tire upright and pulled on the chain just when he heard his baby name ringing in the air. He turned to follow that sound "Oh hey Mel!" he replied with a short wave of his hand. Sit beside her? Cant she see he was making something awesome here? He then saw that there was a troop of people who were now sitting beside her. Did they all hear his baby name too?? Awwwmaaaan....

What the students weren't going to be aware of when they arrived for today's lesson was that Moxley had spent the last 15 minutes getting herself OUT of a bucket. They looked sturdy enough, sure, but she'd sat on an overturned one and broke right through which had been painful. She was going to bruise for sure. Lucky she'd managed to roll, wiggle, and pull herself free before class. She'd even had time to dispose of said bucket and find herself a seat on a tire and all with 2 minutes to spare. Thank Merlin no one had witnessed that or else she'd have wound up in the Aparecium for sure. Not a good look for a new headmistress.

SPOILER!!: Greetings

”Hello, Rachel.” Moxley smiled, always happy to see early arrivals. Meant people were eager to get to her lesson, yes? Way to boost the Moxinator’s confidence. ”It is unusual, yes. It’ll make sense shortly, though.” She promised.

”Hello, Hady.” Her reaction to the room had been exactly what the brunette had been hoping for, did she know? ”I’m doing very well, thank you. I hope the same can be said for you.”

"Hello Professor!" she said happily as she sat down on an old crate. Moxley wouldn't do anything to harm them, she knew - whatever they were doing, even if it was scary, would be totally controlled by her.

”Hello there!” Such an enthusiastic little thing, Scarlett was. Moxley was a fan. Made todays class setting a bit less depressing, honestly.

To say the muggle studies professor was amused by Azura’s reaction to the room was an understatement. Poor kid looked like she thought she’d meet her doom in here. Not true, of course, but Moxley supposed it was a good attitude to have considering all the craziness that tended to happen at Hogwarts. ”Hello there.” The headmistress gave the girl a reassuring smile and then glanced back towards the door.

”Hello Olivia,” Moxley chirped in reply. She was eager to get started and ignoring the current rumble in her tumble that was happening. Maybe snacks should’ve been part of today’s lesson too.

Curious Ravenclaw, eh? Not surprising. The Moxinator smiled and gave Janelle a wave before replying, ”You’ll be finding out very shortly.” Actually, it was almost time to begin.

”I do plan on taking part, yes.” She felt quite passionate about the subject matter of today’s lesson so she planned on taking part in the practical portion as well. ”Good to know, Colt. I’ll keep that in mind.” Though they wouldn’t be doing any graffiti today.

Robbed? The headmistress tried not to laugh, her smile betraying her as it showed just how amused she was at the insinuation. ”I’m A-Okay, Ariadne. Thank you for your concern.”

”I assure you you’re in the right place,” Moxley provided helpfully. She was pretty pleased at how the room had turned out and from the students’ reactions, it was exactly right for what they’d be discussing.

”Hello, David.” Moxley was glad to see the Ravenclaw in attendance and she’d been happy to help him get inspired to look a little deeper in the muggle studies world to find what interested him. Hopefully the book she’d given was helping.

”Hey there!” This one was smiley, which was good. The not so good part was the chattiness but Moxley would let it slide for a while longer while the stragglers came in. Kid was just being friendly, after all.

Sooooooo... not sport then, huh?...

”Hello Zeke.” Meredith smiled at the Gryffindor and then gestured for him to find a seat on whatever it is there was left to sit on. Standing was fine, of course, but they’d be chatting a little bit before getting to work.

She grinned.

"Hi, Ace."

This child. Moxley got up from her tire and raised her eyebrows a little, wondering if she needed to ask the other professors about this girl. ”It’s Professor Moxley, Haddie. Professor.” Enough reminders on that, yes? ”And things have already been planned, I’m afraid. Perhaps I can loan you a book on the subject.” There were plenty of photography books that focused on that. It was interesting stuff to see.

”Hello there, Raven!” Walking towards the door now, Moxley smiled briefly at the boy and got ready to close it. The last of the group would be pouring in any second, she was sure.

And yeah he was kind of excited so he was wearing pretty comfortable clothes, some old jeans and a black t-shirt. Simple but nice.

"What's up, Professor...Headmistress?" said Hugo with a smile. He wasn't sure on how to address Moxley. So, why not both? Heh.

”Hello, Hugo.” Professor Headmistress was an interesting combination and fitting, she’d decided. She could work with that, yes. ”Why don’t you try and find some place to sit.”

What was with all the questions about fighting? Merlin! Moxley was starting to wonder if she should be concerned about these guys. Or well, more concerned about them than she usually was. ”No fighting in school, dear.” Though giving out detentions had been fun…

”Hello there.” Ballet flats weren’t exactly Moxley’s idea of sensible footwear but she was sure the Slytherin would be just fine. She’d made sure that none of the trash scattered about was sharp enough to injure because Merlin knew if Hogwarts kids had the opportunity to get hurt in some way or another, they would.

”Hello, Jace!” What an adorable Ravenclaw. Moxley just hoped he wasn’t too freaked out by the look of the room because he certainly looked it.

Professor Headmistress. Heh. She was actually quite enjoying that by now. ”Hello there!” And welcome.

“Hello, Candice.” The professor smiled at the Gryffindor prefect and waited for her to take a seat.

See? Muggle Studies took them PLACES.

Vaguely, he heard Ava asking Olly about Noelle and he was kinda wondering the same.

N’aw, one of her favorite ickles. Moxley knew you weren’t meant to PLAY favorites but she’d never been one to follow the rules. ”I have a feeling you’re right, Blaise,” She said with a smile. Not to toot her own horn or anything but…TOOT TOOT.

He sighed when he finally made it to the classroom and realized that class hadn't started yet...

Hell....it wasn't even class.....

He shrugged, too relieved about being early to even care about the dingy environment.

He walked over to where Tenacious was doing something and eyed the boy curiously.

"Erm.....what are you doing?"

Bentley got a nod from Moxley as he entered the classroom. His question to his classmate was always one that was on the muggle studies professor’s mind but she was more curious than anything else so she allowed the curly haired boy’s work to continue for now.

She guessed one of the overturned buckets was as good as any... though the tires did look mighty comfy too . . .

”Hello, Head Girl.” Ms. Mancini received a smile and then was ushered towards the rest of the group. If she’d known what the Ravenclaw was thinking, Moxley would’ve suggested a tired. Good makeshift seats, those were.

Confused Ravenclaw was confused and the headmistress couldn’t help but smile at the boy’s reaction. ”Hello, Dmitriy,” She greeted cheerfully. Hopefully he wouldn’t be confused for too long.

And the last of the bunch. ”Just in time, Ilia. Come on in.” They were starting now, did she know?

Bringing two fingers to her mouth, Moxley whistled to call everyone to attention. "Alright, you lot. We're getting started now so let's put all conversation on pause for just a bit." She smiled, walking towards the middle of the room. "And Mr. Salander, while I'm quite curious about what you're trying to accomplish over there, you'll have to continue after we've done some work. Please do use that tire as a seat, though." Probably more comfortable than standing, which she'd noticed some of her students opted to do. Their choice so she'd make no comment on that.

"As many of you have noticed, today's lesson is not taking place in our typical classroom setting. What I want you all to do right now is to imagine you live in an environment like this. "Yeah." But he frowned. It had not exactly been the best meeting. "Her parents didn't withdraw her from school, but she didn't tell me anything else. I don't know if she couldn't, or if she doesn't know either." But she was the Headmistress, which meant she knew everything, right? Probably.

When Moxley started talking, Oliver quickly took a seat on a tire next to Ava. He didn't want to have to spend the entire lesson standing. Not that he thought they were going to be sitting for long. They never did in lessons at Hogwarts.

Olly closed his eyes to more properly visualize. He pictured everything Moxley said, eventually realizing that in this case visualizing actually worked better with his eyes opening, considering he was surrounded by the very things he was visualizing. He imagined living in the environment that had been replicated in the classroom. Yeah, that would not exactly be pleasant.

"I would feel unsafe," he said after raising his hand. "Like if the government or the police or whoever is supposed to be in charge doesn't care enough to make sure it doesn't get so dirty, they wouldn't care enough about making sure the people who live here are safe."

Wait, they were in Muggle Studies, correct, and not in his mother's shrink's office, on the couch being asked to talk about feelings? David gave the professor-Headmistress a curious look in reply to her question about how this ugly lot was supposed to make them feel. Feelings. Ugh. Feelings were ugh.

Still, he was a student, and a good one at that, so he HAD to raise his hand to answer the question.

"Depressed," the Ravenclaw sighed out. Yes, this abandoned-looking alley way would make him feel depressed. "Or like a bum," he added half-heartedly. Just in case she was going to have them act out the bum life today, Davie was ready. He could scowl like a bum and everything. He could probably even growl at kids if they tried to take his chocolate frog collection, or better yet, if they tried to sit on his and Blaise's tire. IT WAS HIS TIRE. HE LIVED HERE NOW. HIS.

See, he was ready.

Azura listened carefully to the Professor/Headmistress's question.. How would she feel if she had to live or play or walk by a place like this?

Merlin!

The first year put her hand in the air and spoke. "I would feel like I would be in danger! You never know what could be lurking around here, also.. For the people who aren't exactly.. Coordinated.. like herself! Hello four broken noses! "a place like this would pose a constant hazard to that person and everyone around them." You've been warned everyone!

She nodded and looked around and shook her head.. It would be awful to live in a place like this!

hermygirl 01-21-2016 10:02 PM

Sam might have let out a small gasp as she entered the classroom, and then again as she exited and re-entered it to check what she was seeing was real. It was definitely a classroom door on the outside, but like a city on the inside.

It wasn't dismal at all. It was like home.

She couldn't help but grin as she let her gaze run across the abandoned lot, covered in buckets and tyres. One of those would suffice as a seat, of course, but she really wanted to go perch on one of the fences, or even better, on the top of that wall.

So tempting. It'd take barely jiffy to get up there.

Something told her it was likely just an illusion on the actual walls of the classroom, so instead she lithely hopped between some buckets and tyres on her way to the front of the classroom, finally plopping down on a large-ish tractor tyre.

"Awesome classroom, Professor," she said by way of greeting with a grin. Best yet, she reckoned.

And, oh, the lesson was starting!

How would it make her feel? Sam tilted her head at the professor. She wasn't sure what she was meant to answer here. She twisted around on her tyre and glanced round the room once more, her previous excitement for the lesson dissipating into awkwardness.

"S'a bit cold," she answered finally. "Too open tah be ideal fah livin'. Nah shelter from wet ei'ver. Not bad for playin' 'n climbin' wiff ya mates though."

The Head Boy was looking around at the abandoned city / classroom while sitting on one of the tires and waited for the Professor to start the lesson. As he heard a whistle like sound, Yoongi turned his head to the Headmistress to listen.

Okay so what was up with the whole ‘imagine if’ scenarios in classes lately. First Defence class where they had to ‘imagine if someone bigger attacked you’ and now muggle studies with a ‘imagine if you lived in a post-apocalyptic city’. He tried to imagine and unsafe was definitely one of the first things that popped up in his mind. “Like a homeless person struggling with hope” he said after raising his hand in the air.

Haddie frowned in mild annoyance. Some people just don't appreciate a good nickname. Shame.

Oh, this was an easy question. Haddie already knew the answer to that, though not from personal experience. It's just one of those things that she picked up through what people say and through movies and tv and books and such. Depressed.

"D..." Haddie's mouth slammed shut. The Dodo Bird stole her answer before she could give it. Typical of him. Why was he even in this class anyway? He hated Muggles and Muggleborns because they didn't know their magical history.

Haddie rolled her eyes. "Anxious. And Claustrophobic." Nailed it.

Dante would take a seat, Thank you Headmistress or was it still Professor. Or did it not matter and Dante was only making himself confused. Yeah that was probably it. So Dante took a seat and waited for her to begin her lesson. Well Dante first question would be why on merlin's earth would there still be school if the city looked abandoned. Dante would be more focused on surviving then school.

Lord of the Flies with only the Headmistress.

"Depends have i been living in this area my whole life because if so then it would just be normal and why would the school be open when this place looks abandoned."

Dante would pay money to read that book and yes he did know what that book was. He even read it surprisingly enough.

Hugo sat down on a tire and watched as everyone else was entering the room. He wondered if there could be a rat around here or worse...spiders. And just a few minutes later the class began.

He looked around when Moxley started telling them about living in a place like this or walking by a place like this. The prefect raised his hand, "Dirty, uncomfortable and that something dangerous could happen to me" nodded. He wasn't the most organized person but he wouldn't stand living in a messy place. Nope.

"I can't wait to see what it's about, Professor.'' Though she was sure it had something to do about proper disposal of garbage or perhaps cleaning up one's surroundings.

Oh! It seemed Azura was right behind her on the way in as was Olivia. Rachel smiled at them both when they sat next to her. She was always pleased to have company. “Hello, girls.’’ She could not miss the loud voice of one Haddie Denaker. The dark haired girl smiled at her other friend but then said, “I think you forgot to address her a ‘Professor’.’’ Rachel was always having to look out for her best friend. She then turned back to the others joining the class. She smiled back at Esme. “Hello there, Melbourne.’’ Rachel now looked around at the newcomer. She was familiar but did not know the girl. “I’m Rachel.’’ The first year saw Jace take a seat close by to her and notice the wave. “Hello, Samurai,’’ she mouthed to him as she waved back. Noticing Ilia, she threw the Snake a smirk. The puffed up girl probably thought her bum was too high and mighty to be placed on a tire or bucket.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

There came the whistle which surely meant the start of the class. Rachel listened raptly and did as Professor Moxley suggested. She couldn't help but turn up her face in mild disgust. She never wanted to live in someplace like this. The Eagle lifted a hand. "Disgust since it is certainly not healthy for anyone and it's an eye sore.'' Aside from health purposes, there were others reasons for not wanting to live in a dump.

WhittyBitty 01-21-2016 11:52 PM

As more people arrived, she smiled at them. She was starting to feel a little more comfortable, and an adult presence had a lot to do with that. Professor Moxley was so nice, but then Esme had already known that seeing as she had been her student for a few terms and her Badger for one.

As the lesson started, she looked around the 'classroom' with a frown on her face. Yeah, she could never imagine living in a place like this. Walking her dog in a scary neighbourhood. Walking past THIS on her way to school... It would be absolutely horrible! She would TRY to picture it, however.

Raising her hand, she said, "uncomfortable more than anything. This place is dirty, abandoned, and reminds me of something post-apocalyptic. Rather unsettling - like something bad is going to happen." Maybe the zombies?

*GAAAAAAAAASP*

The Headmistress knew her name?! That was SO COOL! The Headmistress was basically a celebrity around here, and Ariadne felt super cool having the woman know her by name. Sure, EVERYBODY had their called by her, but Ariadne still felt pretty awesome. She even gave the woman a wide smile before launching into a spill of replies.

"I'm glad you're okay, and you're welcome! I would have helped you and gotten you out of danger, you know! I learned some Muggle defense moves in Professor Hirsch's class!" she explained. She followed that up with a eye-gauging motion with her first two fingers. Okay. Never mind Defense class. She had some thoughts about the Muggle Studies question, too!

"The mess made me feel like danger was around," she answered, raising her hand even though she had JUST been talking to the woman. "I felt scared, because you were just sitting there looking helpless, and I thought maybe something dangerous was still lurking around here." She assumed that wasn't the case, though, seeing as Moxley was just carrying on with class.

Kitty lived in a very expensive mansion with her magical mom and Muggle father, and it was always clean. Her mother never tolerated disorder in the house, and some of the biggest arguments Kitty had had with her mom revolved around how clean to keep her room. Personally Kitty thought her mom took it all a bit too far, but they both agreed on cleanness. Kitty couldn't imagine having to live in a place that always looked like this room.

"It would make me feel gloomy and out of place. It wouldn't reflect my self expression, and it's probably very unhealthy." Kitty responded truthfully. "But my mom would hate it even more. She'd probably have a heart attack if our yard ever looked like this"

Norah, who had opted to stand next to Yoongi just to enjoy the fact that their height difference wasn't as dramatic when he was sitting down, was all smiles for the Headmistress, abandoned wasteland or not. Sure, maybe it was kind of dismal and broken down, but that didn't mean they weren't going to have an ADVENTURE there. Or something. Didn't these lessons always turn into adventures? She was willing to bet a substantial amount of her chocolate frog stash that there was some very cool stuff to discover if anybody looked hard enough. That was the whole point of exploring, after all.

With a hand in the air, she waited to be called on to offer an idea. Y'know, once she'd REALLY REALLY visualized it 'n all that. It was hard to be as excited when you thought about it that way. Maybe that was the point. "I'd be worried, probably. And I bet I'd want to make it better for everybody else, if they were worried too."

Lissy Longbottom 01-22-2016 01:56 AM

How would she feel if she LIVED here? Well, it would definitely be the end of the world then. Scarlett's parents would NEVER let them end up in a place like this. Unless of course there was a third wizarding war, in which case, she was going to get out of this country ASAP. Hmmm. Maybe that was the point of this lesson? To help learn about war torn countries?

She raised her hand. "Well, I'd probably be nervous all the time that I'd get hurt by something. Criminals, a dirty nail sticking out on the ground, lack of shelter or dirty drinking water..." anything could really mean DEATH in this place honestly.

Expecto-Penguin 01-22-2016 02:45 AM

Colt heard Professor Moxley's greeting and he beamed. It didn't seem like they were doing graffiti by looking at her outfit but he wanted to say it anyways. He heard her intro was kind of bored. Blah blah blah, he began to daze off but then her question made him come back to reality. His first reaction was he snorted with laughter. Well lady he already lived in an area like this. Before he raised his hand, he heard everyone else's answers. He found them amusing. A lot would be claustrophobic and anxious. You slowly get used to it people. Like come on. It isn't too bad.

Colt then decided to butt in and say what he had to say, "Professor I actually grew up in a city like this.." he gestured his hands around her scenery. "I actually didn't think about the area being too clustered. It was kind of fun playing baseball on the blacktop. I slowly got used to the smells and I got used to it. This is how I learned to draw actually but sketching on the walls.." He had to thank his city friends for that.

Jessie bite her lips lightly.
Imagine about living in such place like this. How would she feel if she lived here?
This replica was different with her previous living place.

Hers was save, clean, and lovely. As the only daughter in her family, she was raised as a spoiled girl. The young lioness only has one answer. She raised her hand and spoke her mind.

"Of course it would be dangerous. I'll feel like someone or something always stalk me and might attack me anytime.I'd prefer to hiding in somewhere or looking for protection."

Hera 01-22-2016 03:34 AM

She was gesturing to sit.................. okay. Zeke complied, but instead of sitting on SOMETHING he simply sat on the ground, legs bent at the knees in front of him - oh the curse of long legs.

He still didn't really understand the point of this... space, nevertheless as their lesson discussion began, he wondered if this would be a 'community' project thing. Something about taxes and allocations to parks and infrastructure? Bleh.

Zeke considered the space for a moment before supplying his thoughts on the matter, his hand raised, "If I was younger, I'd feel excited... cause you know, adventure... but now, it just kinda looks exhausting, like, it looks like work." Like so much work.

He really should get used to the Gryffindor energy. They are a bunch of fun people, to be honest, and Jace thought he could use some of their enthusiasm. The Ravenclaw nodded in confirmation, “I like my house. It has got everything I need.” Should he tell her about their library? Probably, it was not a wise idea because it seemed that these things are supposed to be kept secret. Besides, she’d be bored if he started talking about it, and books. Gryffindors were more inclined to action anyway.

Jace wanted to ask Melbourne more questions, but an unwelcomed hand suddenly appeared before his face, making the boy lean a bit backwards. Oh yes, he’d seen her before, and Jace purposefully gave her a wide berth everytime she’s in the common room. Haddie’s energy didn’t compliment his, so he thought it was better to steer clear from her fellow Claw. Jace blinked once...twice...wondering if she was telling a joke, or simply was not as observant as he is. “Hi?” was it the right thing to say. “I think it’s not too late to fix the problem. I’m Jace.” He said leaning forward this time, and waved at her. “And...that’s odd. I’ve seen you during our second night in the Tower.” Surely, she hasn’t forgotten the puffskein-pygmy puff- ferret incident, right? He was there...with her friends.

Jace dropped all of his conversations with the girls, as soon as he heard the Headmistress call out to them by whistling. WHOA. She can do that too? Did Torrance see that? Jace was sure his Gryffindor friend would be pleased.

As the Headmistress spoke, Jace looked around him, trying to visualize himself living in a neighbourhood like this. It was kind of hard to pull up the image because back in Japan, everything was spic and span. Everything was in order. It’s the same thing when he moved to England a few years back.

But this...this was a terrible nightmare. He suddenly realized how lucky he is to be in a safe, and clean neighbourhood all his life.

Jace scrunched up his face as he listened to his classmates’ answers. He raised his own hand, and waited for the professor to call him out. “I’d be on alert mode the entire time professor.” It was a very suspicious place to be in, anyway. “The place isn’t being monitored, so most likely...bad things will happen in this place.” He hated to judge, but such place are always associated with evil doings.

Ameh 01-22-2016 04:14 AM

Jaemin had found himself a fairly clean patch of ground and had opted to sit there instead of on anything; pretty much anything he sat on was going to be as dirty as the ground was, so it wasn't like it made much of a difference, and the small boy was rather at home sitting on earth. He had quietly taken in the scenery around the students, and then had taken to watching the Headmistress Lady until she whistled super loud.

...ohhhh. Oh. He knew what was gonna happen today. Yes he diiiiid. Jay bounced a little, legs crossed and hands absently squeezing his ankles until one shot into the air to signal that he too had an answer for what she was asking.

"Places like this make me feel like a lot of grownups don't take care of anything that can't move around or talk to them or keep their things in it. Like they think it isn't worth their time cause it's not got a house on it or a face or stuff." He wrinkled his nose. "If it don't belong to them, they don't think it's important to do anything with it..."

And if they wanted something done with it, they usually didn't want to do it themselves. They wanted others to do it. Jaemin looked around the room that was no longer a room again. It really would make a nice, big, pretty garden. If there weren't tires and buckets and stuff.

Cassirin 01-22-2016 04:14 AM

Live... here? It was an interesting aesthetic, but if Dot imagined that this was her full time, then she sort of felt a pressure building in her chest. Like she was at the bottom of a pool of water and it was way too far to the surface to swim on her own. Or like... things were horribly unfair, maybe, because she knew she didn't live here, and maybe if she lived here, she'd know there were streets were people didn't leave their trash or spray paint ugly words.

Sigh. "Unsafe, professor, and maybe that would make it hard to care about anything else. And a little bit like no one cared."

Ch_Couture 01-22-2016 04:31 AM

Elliot had been sitting cross-legged on an old tire he'd managed to roll across the lot when the professor posed the question. Some of the kids seemed shocked by the idea but he was pretty familiar to him. He'd seen stuff like this before. "There was a place like this near our house in Korea when I was little. My mom would never let me go near it. Said that's how kids go missing. It was scary. Like a place where nothing good could ever happen."

PhoenixRising 01-22-2016 04:56 AM

Tia beamed just a little when Moxley greeted her as head girl. Now that she was getting adjusted the role it made her feel kinda good when it was acknowledged. Settling for a tire seat, the seventh year sat patiently as she listened to Mosley start off the lesson with asking how they would feel living in a place like this and honestly Tia felt upset with many of her peers reactions to it being unsafe.

Sure it wasn't the cleanest of places but she didn't see evidence of anything unsafe going on around these parts. And to some, it was home. Comfort.

"Honestly, Professor , I think it's not unsafe in the least. I think the way things are thrown around and the graffiti on the wall is evidence to some very creative minded individuals who maybe are underprivileged and have discovered ways to entertain themselves with recycling and reusing." Tia said upon raising her hand.

RandomRaven 01-22-2016 06:26 AM

So Olly had talked to Headmistress Moxley about Noelle's absence, but he didn't get much info from her either. This was weird, like really weird. "I hope there's nothing bad happened to her." And Sabbath too since coincidentally he's not around and Ava was 200% sure that they were together.

And now the class had started. The young lioness listened about how would she feel if she was playing around here. Well... Some people said about being unsafe, uncomfortable, dirty, anxious, and anything else. "I think it's not that bad being here, especially that if I'm already familiar with this place."

Symphora 01-22-2016 07:13 AM

Catching up :)

Henric had a flashback of his past when he entered the classroom earlier. The place reminded of his scavenging days ...whereby he would walk around the abandoned lot by himself so he could seek warmth and shelter from the cold. Henric fell unusually quiet as he stood behind them, unsure if he could concentrate well in the class anymore. Moxley had asked them a question that tugged a few of his heart strings. His answer would be just the same as everyone...terrible... scared...unsafe....lost....nothing good would ever come out from here. Strange people...mostly the homeless would loiter around and gather at this sort of places. A few of them were good but most were not. Henric remained silent, not wanting to share any of his past experiences about the place. Why did the professor choose this place...why couldn't it be a positive place...anywhere but here.....

SilverTiger 01-22-2016 08:32 AM

Brooklyn had noticed the look toward her shoes, although she hardly cared. The instruction had been to wear what they were comfortable in, and she was comfortable in flats. She rarely if ever wore sneakers anyhow, so that was that. At least there hadn’t been any verbal statements about it, so she brushed it off. Just as she wasn’t about to try and do anything about the tire she was currently perched on the edge of. Gryffindors were just strange like that.

Oh, she’d noticed the change in the environment. She just hadn’t reacted to it, intentionally. It hadn’t surprised her, so she hadn’t felt the need to act like it had. Her environment made no difference as to how she acted. A queen was queen no matter where she was. She’d been tempted to say that nobody lived in an alleyway or an empty lot, too. The question was more what they’d think if they lived near a place like this. “I would question who let it get like this,” she replied instead. Obviously someone wasn’t doing their job if they let a place get this dirty and cluttered.

lemon 01-22-2016 08:38 AM

A lot of people were saying things about safety, danger, cleanliness, etc., and while Dima could see where they were coming from... his answer to Moxley's question had taken on a different feeling. Maybe wonder? Interest? Curiosity? He wasn't quite sure how to put his thoughts into word's until the Head Girl spoke up.

Brilliant. No wonder they'd given her the badge.

Steelsheen 01-22-2016 10:26 AM

What was he trying to accomplish? A cool swing. Because sitting on swings is way more fun that sitting on sad old tires. But yeah Headmistress basically said to can it and the curly top dropped the chains and flopped on the tire. See so not fun already.

And so they were told to look around their immediate environment. What does he feel about it? "Sad." he replied simply. "Although dad would say that this is an opportunity waiting to happen." Nod nod. "Spaces like these that looks neglected or misused he'd probably build something on it, improve on it y'know?"

Daydreamer11 01-22-2016 01:18 PM

When Headmistress Moxley asked her question, Janelle's smile faded. The thought of living in a place like this was horrible. She had been in places like this, known people who had lived in places like this. Janelle was fortunate enough not to haved lived there, but still..............it made her sad to think about it.

Raising her hand, Janelle attempted to answer the question. "If I lived here, I would feel..........bad........sad. I would hate it. I think that I would want to do everything I could to get out. But I think I would also want to do something to make the place better........to help the other people that lived here."

Davvy_Wavvy 01-22-2016 01:49 PM

Bentley blinked and thought...and blinked and thought some more as he looked around. It looked like somewhere they would pass on their way to the Grandma Rainbow's commune. Truth was that he never really actually thought about it.

People in his grandma's commune seemed perfectly happy enough. They didn't seem to mind that they didn't have all the fancy stuff that most other people had.

"I think that if I didn't know about other fancy stuff I'd feel okay about it." Just look at Tenacious making swings and stuff. They could make it fun.

SPOILER!!: Moxley
”Hello, Hady.” Her reaction to the room had been exactly what the brunette had been hoping for, did she know? ”I’m doing very well, thank you. I hope the same can be said for you.”

-----
"As many of you have noticed, today's lesson is not taking place in our typical classroom setting. What I want you all to do right now is to imagine you live in an environment like this. Imagine that each day you walk by this on your way to school. You see it when you walk your pet or go out for a run. Maybe you're forced to play in a lot like this because where you live doesn't have an area for recreational activities..." She paused, letting them visualize a life like this in their minds. "Now I'd like each of you to tell me how living in a place like this would make you feel." From the looks on many of the faces as the kids entered the room earlier, she was going to guess unsafe.

"It can Professor, I'm doing splendid." Mhmm. Yup. Very much so. Like things probably couldn't get any better for her right now. Cue a happy grin.

As Professor Moxley spoke about the room Hady took another look around. A closer look. It really did remind her of some of the areas back home. Thankfully it wasn't a part of town she had lived in but she could recall passing by areas such as this many times growing up with her parents, friends and several times by herself. So when the question came around her hand went into the air, "It makes me feel a bit uneasy. You never know what could happen in an area like this but it also makes be feel bad for those that do live here. They deserve a nicer place to be kids or whatever." Right? Everyone needed a place to hang around and have a good time. To be safe.

Leave him alone and not steal his tire? Was there someone like that? Blaise's punching days had started and ended last term in the Great Hall with Davie but that didn't mean he was gonna let people be rude to his friend--as Prefects saw at the feast. Ahem. The boy's words had Blaise looking around at their classmates, trying to figure who it might have been.

In the middle of his search, the Professor began the lesson about where they were. Playing here? Living here? He didn't know. The young Gryffindor took another look around, this time not to survey potential jerks but to take in his surroundings. What WOULD he do? Huh. "I'll feel like I was super tough, Professor. Just looking around already makes me feel tougher, like I can take on anything if I can handle this--plus the tires are neat. They'd make for a cool game."

There, participation, now then, what was this about a Haddie? Wait, he knew a Haddie from other classes they were in together. That girl that came to the Gryffindor table to throw food.

"I'm in." He had nothing personal against the girl, then again, he'd had nothing personal against half the Prefects he pelted. All good. "What'd you have in mind?"

Olly was busy looking at all the graffiti on the wall. Some of it was pretty good and he wondered who had done it? Moxley? He was about to ask her but then Noelle came and sat by him and the distraction made him forget all about his question. He focused on the one Ava asked him.

Raising her hand, she said, "uncomfortable more than anything. This place is dirty, abandoned, and reminds me of something post-apocalyptic. Rather unsettling - like something bad is going to happen." Maybe the zombies?

"It would make me feel gloomy and out of place. It wouldn't reflect my self expression, and it's probably very unhealthy." Kitty responded truthfully. "But my mom would hate it even more. She'd probably have a heart attack if our yard ever looked like this"

Sure it wasn't the cleanest of places but she didn't see evidence of anything unsafe going on around these parts. And to some, it was home. Comfort.

"Honestly, Professor , I think it's not unsafe in the least. I think the way things are thrown around and the graffiti on the wall is evidence to some very creative minded individuals who maybe are underprivileged and have discovered ways to entertain themselves with recycling and reusing." Strange people...mostly the homeless would loiter around and gather at this sort of places. A few of them were good but most were not. The question was more what they’d think if they lived near a place like this. “I would question who let it get like this,” she replied instead. Obviously someone wasn’t doing their job if they let a place get this dirty and cluttered.

And so they were told to look around their immediate environment. What does he feel about it? "Sad." he replied simply. "Although dad would say that this is an opportunity waiting to happen." "As many of you have noticed, today's lesson is not taking place in our typical classroom setting.

To be safe.

While the students offered up their feelings on the dismal scene around them, Moxley busied herself with a can of black spray paint she’d hidden in the middle of the tire. Approaching the wall, she began to write words she’d been hearing most often, noting that many of them were negative.
Quote:

Negative Feelings:
-Unsafe
-Depressed
-Cold
-Hopeless
-Anxious
-Claustrophobic
-Uncomfortable
-Dirty
-Unhealthy
-Scared
-Abandoned
-Sad

Postive Feelings:
-Excited
-Inspired
-Curious
-Eager to help

Once she’d gotten them down, she paused to look over her work and then faced the class. ”While some of you were able to see the possibilities in a place like this, most of the answers fell on the side of gloom and doom.” Which was understandable, honestly. ”Having a place to call home is something that all humans, magical or mundane, want. Having one that is safe and makes you feel secure is the goal, though not always the case, unfortunately." And Moxley understood it had everything to do with circumstances that couldn't always be controlled.

"Bentley pointed out that if he didn't know about fancy stuff, different environments, he wouldn't think this space was so bad. That was a wonderful point and if we channel this way of thinking, people who call places like this home do grow used to it. They become accustomed to being surrounded by the vacant lots, chain link fences, and cracked pavement. But there are those, like some of you in this very room, that can help to make people who call places like this home see that these environments can be so much more than this.”

"Volunteering is a huge part of building relationships and taking an active role in your community, your home, to make it a better place for yourself and the people around you. It's a way to use your strengths, your mind, and your passion to work towards a common goal with other people who are interested in lending a hand." It was a fill others' buckets to fill your own thing, volunteerism, and the benefits of volunteering were numerous. "Can anyone give me an example of a time they volunteered their time and/or skills in a magical or muggle setting?"

"My Mom's a chef, so every Thanksgiving she'd make a bunch of food to take down to the homeless shelters and we'd all help serve. Well, Mom wouldn't, she always had to work Thanksgiving, but Dad and we would take it down and serve the food." They where in Britain and didn't have Thanksgiving here... Haddie paused a moment, debating on whether or not she should explain what Thanksgiving is. "Thanksgiving is a holiday in America where everyone eats a lot of food." She paused again, wondering if she should say more. Nope, that pretty much covered it. "We were little so we couldn't really do all that much, but it was fun hanging out with the homeless people and listening to their stories and telling them jokes. They had a lot of interesting stories." She shrugged.

Daydreamer11 01-22-2016 09:21 PM

As usual, Janelle listened to her classmates give their points of view on their classroom environment. They made valid points. Janelle, however, just could not help feeling sad about the place. It was kind of personal to her.

The Headmistress made a smooth transition into the topic of volunteering. Volunteering was pretty awesome and there were so many different ways to do it. The question on the floor involved examples of volunteering. Janelle raised her hand to share her example.

"I volunteered at a homeless sheler too, but in a different way. I got to read stories to the kids that stayed there. I played games with them too. It was really cool and I think that they enjoyed it." Janelle knew that they had and she had felt really good afterward. Just knowing that she brought a little fun to the kids' day was satisfying.

"My dad is a Muggle, and he works at a Thrift Store that donates its earnings to Food Shelters."Kitty didn't know where exactly the food shelters were, but she remembered her dad telling her they donated ninety five percent of their earnings to homeless shelters in the area. "Every Saturday he would take me there with him and I would sort through the donations with him. It was really fun working with all the Muggles there, most of them were my dad's friends and I don't think any of them knew I could do magic." Several times when she was younger she had told them, but of course they didn't believe her and her mom would have a lecture prepared every time she found out. She was very fond of the memories.

WhittyBitty 01-22-2016 10:08 PM

Oh.

Volunteering.

Something that Esme probably should have picked up on sooner, but she couldn't really be blamed when the setting had made her feel rather off balance. Now she could relax and feel better again. She decided to ignore the visuals and focus on what was being discussed.

Raising her hand, she said, "I volunteered at a soup kitchen last summer. On top of that I volunteered at a thrift shop, where I also donated clothes." She would probably continue doing volunteer work this summer because it was a good way to help others and build community.

hermygirl 01-22-2016 10:10 PM

She couldn't help but think that some of her classmates' replies were aimed at her. For some reason they thought she couldn't be happy because she'd grown up like this. That her childhood must all have been awful. The words being sprayed on the wall just made it feel worse, the negative feelings far outweighing the positive ones. Luckily, most people here didn't know she came from a place like this; would they suddenly feel disgusted, scared and unsafe around her if they did? It was an awful thought, and it sat in her stomach like a stone sinking in a pond.

Sam did send a grateful smile at Tia's comment though, and to the boy that agreed with it.

The Professor's next words didn't ease her uncomfort. Getting accustomed to it wasn't a thing. It was what she had; what she made the most of. She wouldn't object to it being made better, of course, but IF and ONLY IF, people thought of the consequences after. There was no point sprucing it all up, building something all nifty and lovely on it, if the people that called it home then couldn't afford to be there any more - just moving somewhere else. Most likely somewhere worse. And that was aside from the fact most of the time it wasn't the people living there that made the mess. It was those that thought they had reason to look past it, and not care.

All these thoughts had put a decided scowl on Sam's face, and she might have been tempted to walk out had this not been the Headmistress' lesson. With a stifled sigh, she tried to think of a time she'd 'volunteered'.

"I 'elp give directions teh lost tourists in Lan-dan sumtimes," she said after a while. It wasn't much, but it was something.

Well.. this might be something usual for Raven, fact that he was raised by muggles once, makes him remember things that he done before entering the school. And this is the reason why he loved the Muggle studies class..
he raised his hand

"my nanny is a muggle, she raised me with muggles so sometimes she took me and my brother to join voluntary in giving old or new, free books to those who need it, or sometimes we go to shelter house and help the homeless giving foods, and sometimes she told us to gathered our belonging like shoes or clothes that we don't use anymore to give it to the homeless, Professor"

Raven looking proud with his accomplishment, as he was smiling, didn't realize he done many until he said it today. He felt lucky now to raised by his muggle nanny.

Ooohohooo, Blaise was in. YES. Together they would surely devise a foolproof plan to bring Haddie down. There she went again, being all flippant and perfunctory as she answered the professor's question with an OBVIOUSLY FAKE story about Thanksgiving. What a load of dragon dung! A holiday just for eating? Pfffffffft. America had gotten rid of that holiday YEARS ago. Or they SHOULD have gotten rid of it by now. Why would they have a holiday devoted JUST to eating after they went through the uber-health craze of the 2010s? It just didn't make sense. Haddie was using her Americanness to tell LIES.

David rolled his eyes toward the girl to show his displeasure, then nudged Blaise as he rolled his eyes a second time. The double-eyeroll was supposed to say get a load of that loser. That was what his nudge said too. Clearly. But since Davie was still putting together a plan for revenge on Haddie, he then tapped the side of his head to show Blaise that he was thinking.

Sign language, ya know. Blaise would understand.

As for the professor's question about volunteering, David OBVIOUSLY had the best answer. It was the realest answer, and it related to Dark magical creatures. BAM.

"About five years ago, Hogwarts was attacked by Chorts," he offered. "So the whole school was under an ice age, even when the school year ended, because Chorts are so hard to get rid of." They'd been living in the Forbidden Forest, which was kinda funny to think about. His mum had been Headmistress at the time (who DIDN'T know that by now though), and he hadn't seen her for months that year (lots of kids probably didn't care about that though) because the school was so snowed in. "I had to come in and help my mum defrost windows and clean up some of the dungeon passages that were still slick. It was crazy boring times, but I think that counts as volunteerism?"

It still counted even if he'd been forced to help, right? He would have helped anyway, maybe, but defrosting stuff as a seven-year-old in the middle of July was tedious work. ESPECIALLY without your own wand to use. Why couldn't the school have hired more House Elves was beyond him.

Anna Banana 01-22-2016 10:29 PM

Ohh, okay, so that's what this was all about! Nothing violent had happened--as in, there was no intruder or dark wizard or whatever that destroyed the place. It was just the way some places looked due to neglect or maybe the weather or something like that. Right. So they were going to talk about volunteering and helping out people who were less fortunate than they were.

Truthfully, Ariadne was a little let down by the topic of today's lesson. It didn't seem as exciting as she imagined it to be, BUT...that may be because she wasn't as eager to volunteer as it seemed other people were. She was willing to have an open mind, though!

Her hand shot into the air. "I volunteered to help YOU when I first walked into the room!" she exclaimed. "You already know about that, though. Sooo...OH! I let a little old lady have my seat on the bus once! She didn't really look like standing and holding on to the poles was her thing." PLUS, her mother had elbowed her in the side and given her a LOOK, which helped Ariadne make up her mind REALLY quickly.

Savannah Granger 01-22-2016 10:55 PM

Hm... volunteering, something that Spencer did every summer with his mother, which was quite fun and he loved doing it. Spencer also spent his Christmas holidays down at the homeless shelter feeding the homeless people on Christmas Eve, so he volunteered quite a bit, but Spencer was a very selfless person, he cared more about others then himself. Maybe it was how he was raised perhaps, but Spencer was always willing to help others, no matter what the cost was.

Spencer was raised in the muggle world so he knew quite a bit about the muggle world although his father was pureblood and his mother was muggle born, he went to a muggle school before he came to Hogwarts. Although he hated it due to his friends turning on him, he came to love the muggle world, but he now loved the magical world a bit more then the muggle world. After all, he could do magic and people think that he was a freak, and he had fiends like him so he wasn't alone. What wasn't there to love in the magical world? it was amazing.

Spencer raised his hand. " I volunteer every summer with my mother Professor, we go to parks that been vandalized aand we clean them up and repair swings and paint whatever needs to be covered up, I also volunteered at the homeless shelter feeding the homeless soup past Christmas Eve."said Spencer.

Ameh 01-22-2016 11:52 PM

Magical or Muggle? This was right up Jaemin's alley. He was both! The little boy raised his hand, waving it a little. His parents were all about this kind of stuff. They called it philen... philtan... philamprofy? He couldn't remember how to say the word. BUT THAT DIDN'T MATTER. He knew what it meant... at least in spirit.

"Mum and I take some plants from the nursery every so often and go plant them in places... like parks and old peoples' homeses and stuff. We usually gotta clean up the place we're gonna plant them first cause they're not set up for pretty plants." He nodded lightly, rocking back and forth a bit. "And I help dad when he's harvesting plant parts."

That probably didn't count as volunteering though. He really liked to do that, because it meant he got to touch things.

Azura was listening carefully as the Professor talked about volunteering. She had done that!! The little first year was so excited that she almost didn't wait for her to finish asking the question!

But she did, and then she waited for a second or two, so she didn't look to anxious and then raised her hand and spoke.

"My mom is a healer at St.Mungo's and during the summer I would go there and volunteer, I would go visit the patients and talk to them a bit, and then I would play the piano for them as well." Everyone said her playing was really good and it helped some of the patients feel better! She loved helping out at the hospital, because she too wanted to be a Healer some day.

Volunteering? OOOH Scarlett knew all about that! She raised her hand and when it was her turn, ran right in to her answer. "I volunteered all the time in my dad's shop. I consider that volunteering since I didn't get paid," she told her with a sly smile. "But really, I did help him a lot and the fact that he didn't have to hire any more help was good for business and I know he really appreciated me cleaning and helping customers," she explained.

She knew she was probably looking for more answers about helping in soup kitchens or animal shelters, but Scarlett hadn't done anything like THAT. And bookstore owners needed help too!

If it wasn't already somewhat obvious, the eyerolling had definitely helped. It was THAT Haddie, not the older Haddie that had Davie's glasses crossed. The boy made a mental note to ask what she'd done later while Davie obviously thought about whatever plan they would execute.

His friend was a good planner, whatever he thought of would work and he now almost felt sorry for Haddie--though there could be no real remorse. He'd never had a proper conversation with her.

"I've never had to volunteer, Professor," Nor had he ever wanted to, "but my mum does sometimes at this creature reserve and she sometimes takes me and my little sister with her. We don't really help, just play with the creatures."

Did that still count? Something told him it didn't.

Groaning. He was internally groaning.

.....

He did see the value in community things and helping out and volunteering... all of those things were well and good and he was appreciative of them. But at the same time, Zeke just wanted to NOT think about those things... especially not here. Not at Hogwarts.

Few people knew things.

He supposed though, this wouldn't necessarily reveal anything to people, so he played along for now. Hand raised, he supplied an honest enough answer. A half truth. "I volunteered at a muggle homeless shelter with my mum for a while. Sorted resources, managed activities, the whole soup and tea thing." Yep. Just ignore the fact that he'd also lived there for a few years himself.

Mel saw that look…yes they had heard it. They were all going to hear it over and over it was a nickname after all. She didn’t answer how she felt when asked because really was it that important? The room wasn’t that scary like some of the students had said…or was it? She didn’t really see the danger of it.

Raising her hand when the second question was asked the little lion!girl just grinned. “I volunteer at a local muggle no-kill dog shelter…and I used to volunteer at a local library,” she added with a big grin. She loved books. “I wasn’t allowed to read to the younger kids but they used be as a teething toy some of the time in their stupid child care place” she just frowned at the idea.

Humans were not teething toys.

Moxley was being all inspirational and stuff, and Dot grinned broadly at the professor as she spoke. It wasn't specifically in her nature to do things she thought of as 'volunteering', but Dot liked to make the world more beautiful and interesting for those around her.

Probably shouldn't mention that she gave her fashion-stricken friends help, though. That didn't seem like the sort of thing the professor meant.

"Sometimes I babysit for free," Dot mused, quietly, as she tried to think of herself as the giving type. Surely she did stuff that was generous... sometimes? "Mostly my own brother, though. And my mum has taken me to St. Mungo's to read to some of the residents, keep them company... cut up their overcooked Salisbury steak." So she was a horrible human.

Being one that is sheltered all his life, and being in a clean and orderly setting ALL the time, it was hard for Jace to understand and accept the positive things the others have seen. He supposed, it had to do with taste too? Getting his notebook and pencil, Jace began to scribble down notes. He needed to widen his perspective next time, and try to see the good in bad situations.

While still scribbling down notes, Jace looked up when the professor started to talk again...and asking another question. Volunteering doesn’t sound bad...and he did volunteer countless times whenever he’s back in Japan for his summer vacation. Jace looked around, and slowly raised his hand to answer. “When I’m in Japan, I help visitors figure out our railway system, especially if they needed to board the local trains because, most of the texts are not in English.” And Jace found the act to be very rewarding. The smiles, and constant ‘arigatou’s (even if they sometimes mispronounce it) made his heart swell. There was that...sense of purpose that he can’t get enough of.

Rachel had not thought that there could possibly be positive feelings about a place that resembled a dump. But yet there was. Volunteering was something she knew about as she often helped out the elderly folks in her neighbourhood. She listened as her classmates volunteer their answers. Rachel cast a glance at Haddie. Her friend talking about her mom and her cooking made the girl smile. She positively adored Mrs Denaker's culinary skills. The older Denaker had even been kind enough to give her a few cooking and baking tips when she had stayed with the family last summer.

The Eagle then raised her hand. "I would volunteer to help take care of my neighbours' plants, especially the elderly persons. I would also decorate their plant pots, re-pot plants when needed. The ones that were too difficult for me to take care of by myself, I would enlist my mother's or father's help.''

Jessie turned her face at the source of familiar voice.Raven. She didn`t notice him being there. He looks so different with the cloth he wore.

She gave her attention back to the professor. Raised her hand again, Jessie begin to spoke loudly.

"I've never had to volunteer. But Mum brought me to the muggle hospital when I was a young girl. She gave her blood.... yes, her blood. She said that her blood would be useful to other people. And I will do the same as her, professor."

Ava raised her hand and answered the question. "I once helped my brother in his restaurant without getting paid, does that count as volunteering Professor?" She wasn't sure if what she had done at Dima's restaurant was volunteering too. Wasn't that doing something without getting paid called volunteering?

Ilia didn't like this place one bit. It felt unclean and desolate. She felt no different than those who answered negatively and she didn't answer. Her thoughts went immediately to Henric however. Though, she didn't want to alert the crowd so she walked up to him slowly and stood just a little in front of him. Her hand reached back to take his nonchalantly and she hoped that she'd managed to hide it from the Headmistress' view. It's okay, you aren't alone now. She was becoming less and less thrilled with this.

She ignored little Rachel, but yes she caught that look. No, she was not falling into a dirty bucket. Eww. Now if you wanted her to sit on dirt outside though, that'd be fine. As for answering..... Umm...."My family hosts a charity ball every year around Christmas time. The funds that we raise go to wizarding children in need and creature based charities. It is usually my job to help acquire toys and clothes to bring to the children." Although with her and Henric's 'disagreement going on, she hadn't helped last year.

Okay sitting on this tire wasn't the most comfortable of places to sit. Using her foot Hady pushed whatever was on the floor out of the way before opting to slide down off her 'seat' and onto the floor. Resting back against the tire she lifted her head to watch as Professor Moxley began listing the words they had said on a walk in chalk. Interesting list they had there. Most of the words seemed negative as her own had...inspired though was a nice word that she had saw being added.

Volunteering? Did anything count? Like giving assistance to her friends when needed? Probably not. However it wasn't anything she had been told to do or asked to do she had offered to do these things so therefore it sort or counted. It was all she would say right now anyhow as she didn't feel like bringing up anything from home. "I've been helping a few of my friends with things they want to learn like dancing and learning to cast a corporal patronus," Hady replied with a small shrug adding a second later, "Not really sure how much that counts though." She wouldn't be giving out names either.

Olivia had listened as the professor laid out a bunch of situations they could have been in, asking how they would feel had they met their current surroundings on other terms. How would she feel? Like all the various descriptive words her classmates had managed to come up with. Lost definitely, since it didn't look like any place she had ever been near and certainly not lived. Unsafe...because of the somewhat eerie feeling it gave off as well as the unkown factors. However she remained quiet herself, even as the headmistress began spray-painting the mentioned words on the wall and then they moving on.

Volunteering.

Was she a bad person for not having a story like so many others had?
The first year couldn't think of a single example that fell into the similarities of others' experiences. Sure she helped people...but random things..and she worked with her extended family in a bunch of ways. Just not really publically. Out there in the world. Not like the others had.

Steelsheen 01-23-2016 05:43 PM

Huh Bentley really did have a good point didn’t he? Tenacius looked around again at the seemingly desolate place. He found it bad because he was used to his surroundings always looking good. Places like these didn’t last very long whenever he tagged along with his dad. So to think that this was normal for some people.... Well that opened up this boy's mind it sure did.

Volunteering? Given his classmates' replies it sounds like the altruistic projects his grandma is always involved in. But it sure didn’t involve anything that looked like this place. It was always someplace that had tables and fizzy drinks and photographers. "Uhm... I tagged along with my grandma when she went to charity events and held her purse when she had to get her picture taken." Did that count?

a familiar voice coming to Raven's ears.. he turn his gaze and found... Jessie..

he smile as he notice the girl was there..

he was hoping he could steal some attention from her, despite they are in class..

with a low tone voice almost like a whisper "Jessie.."

Sebastien was completely enamored with this classroom, and this class. It made him want to climb walls and jump over fences. Hop across the roofs of abandoned buildings like he did the summers he spent home, and watch the kids below do whatever it was they did with the canned paint.

And this class. He had never been to a muggle studies class! When did they get to do actual muggle studying? The third year was rocking on his feet, hands shoved deep into his pockets to contain his energy. Live here? Sure. He could do that for as long as his mum allowed, and then he would go back home to his bedroom. No sweat.

What was the next question? Oh! He raised his hand eagerly. "Back at Durmstrang I would help the younger kids on the combat team with their kicks and flips. And I'm wicked with the bow and arrow, so I helped them with that as well." He helped wherever he was needed, but also where it made him look good. Team captain was a serious goal.

Where they gonna get to muggle soon?

Bast was like a mini Angelo in the making, did he know? Dima could see it.

"I've tutored kids in piano and painting and Charms for free," the sixth year supplied after a moment of thought. That had been before this year, of course, when he'd started charging, because.... because.

That was sort of all he did, though. He was pretty sure his family donated as well, but that involved no time or effort, so...

Yoongi looked at Norah and smiled at her excitement. That smile of hers could make his day seem brighter , did she know that? Of course she didn’t…he didn’t have the guts to tell her that. “Are you just going to stand there or sit next to me?” he asked as he moved to the side a little to give her some room.

Sharing a tire to sit on, no big deal.

As class continued and a list of positive and negative emotions were made. Yoongi read them all, seeing his own in the negative list. Had they or do they know someone who volunteered? He listened to the other students answers, grinning at Hady as he heard hers. She was his Patronus Tutor after all. “Well, I volunteered to rescue the students and previous Headmistress from the Acromantulas in the forbidden forest two years ago” he said, raising his hand. Did that count? “And my oldest sister Victoria used to help out her best friend who worked as a mascot at a muggle shopping centre. Helping her handing out flyers”
