The classroom was ordinary this morning. The desks were lines perfectly in three long rows, nametags were put on each desk indicating where everyone sat during their last class. It was cold outside but the classroom had a tad extra warmth in it than anywhere else in the castle (maybe except Botros' office which was always heated extra). Botros stood by his big desk leaning on his cane/staff and waiting for the students' arrival.
ooc: - Lesson will start in about 12 hrs from now, so you can post your character walking in.
- Today's lesson will not be too Runes-related but rather blending with the school's camps, so I encourage you to attend even without being knowledgeable about runes!
- Please familiarize yourself with this Class' rules and guidelines before posting here.

Ancient Rune was NOT one of Hady's strong subjects. And yet here she was making her way towards the next lesson and a few minutes early. Upon entry to the room it was easy to see the nametags on each desk, not that she needed the reminder for she knew where it was she sat.
"Morning Headmaster...oh- um Professor?" Hady blinked several times at the older man. Which exactly was she supposed to use right now? With a small shrug to herself but a warm small directed at Botros the brunette slipped into her seat setting her bag down beside her feet on the floor. Quietly she took out her usual items and placed them on her desk before her not seeming at all bothered by the fact that she was the first to arrive to class.
Ideally twirling a lock of hair around her finger she waited quietly for her fellow mates to arrive and for the lesson to begin, even though she was fitting the edge to drum her fingers on the desk.

He didn't know how he felt about this class. On the one hand, there was no blatant need for wand magic and when there was he could easily get an older student to do it for him. On the other hand...it was kinda hard and very few things made sense and he had to spend a whole lot of time he could have used to do something else doing supplementary reading so he could get off Academic Probation as his Head of House had called it.
"Morning Professor." The boy said with his usually wide, dimpled grin and his quick quotes quill and notepad floating in behind him. "I like how warm it is in here. You'll never believe how ridiculous the corridors are." Or maybe he did, afterall, the man had to walk through them to get here too.
Blaise took his usual seat that had his name tag on it and waited eagerly for them to begin. His quill was poised as eagerly, ready to distort the days notes.

So... Runes.
As much as Adi would like to be good at this subject, sadly he wasn't. It didn't help that he also kept putting off doing proper studies of the subject for NEWTS. Maybe he should just drop the subject altogether? Naaah, he didn't think so. He was determined to go on with it and maybe this time he wouldn't just scrape an Acceptable.
"Morning, Professor Headmaster!" the seventh year greeted as he entered the warm classroom. Grandfatherly Botros got a keen grin before the student slipped off to find his seat and in the process waving to Hardy and Blaise. Once seated, he got his book out, patiently awaiting the class to start.

Ancient runes was one of those EARLY classes.
As such, to get that full stomach they were required to bring one had to be up even earlier for a decent breakfast. Ben did his best to accomplish it AND try to appear bright eyed and bushy tailed but it wasn't always possible. The seventh year caught a yawn as he approached the classroom, pausing outside to make sure he was ready. He didn't want to be respectful in the class, especially the headmaster's lesson.
Finally he stepped inside the room, thankful for the warmth even if it made him more comfy. He surveyed the area to take in the set-up and taking notice of who was already there. "Good morning, Headmaster," he greeted the older man, chosing the higher title to work with. Benny then went in search for his seat. "Hey," he greeted Adi as he passed his friend on the way to the desk marked with his name.
Good thing they hadn't had one of their late-night study sessions last night.
Oooooh it was nice and warm in here. Norah was ready to do well this lesson. She WAS. She'd made an executive decision to not get frustrated no matter how weird and confusing the runes were. There was no doubt that the runes would be weird and confusing, but this time her attitude was going to be better. That was called WILLPOWER. She was going to have a lot of that today, uh huh.
She smiled at Professor Botros as she passed him. "Good morning, Headmaster. I love what you've done with the classroom." The classroom was, of course, exactly as it had been every other lesson. But y'know. It was still nice? In an effort to keep up alllll the tunes positivity, she grinned at nothing in particular as she found her name tag and slid into the corresponding seat. Cool beans.

It was such a nice weather to curl up on her bed with her lovely giraffe pajamas and enjoying a cup of sweet hot chocolate + homemade house elf chocolate muffins. But.... now she's already awake and here she was now. Ancient runes class.
After she got her breakfast, the young lioness walked to the classroom and saw the Headmaster was already there. "Good morning Gran... I mean... Headmaster?" At the last breakfast camp she blurted out calling him grandpa so... better it wouldn't happen anymore. Yes, he was old enough to be everybody's grandpa but he's not her grandfather, he's the HEADMASTER! Remember that, Burton!
"Hi Blaise!" Ava saw her fellow first year lion already arrived there and sat next to him. She didn't want to bring up his issue about his dysfunction wand and now he preferred to attend the class that require no magic. Also, did she mention that it was so warm in this class?

There was little Zeke liked less, than a class so early in the morning. BUT, he was well fed, so it could be worse. Having gorged himself on eggs, bacon, toast and pancakes in the Great Hall, he finally managed to peel himself off of his seat and make the trek back up to the fifth floor for Runes.
He didn't much mind Runes, but he wasn't particularly good at it, which sucked... because it would be limiting in what he could do later.
...
Nevertheless, upon entering the class, Zeke gave his respects to his peers with friendly nods of hello's, and of course the Professor of the house, "G'morning, Headmaster," he greeted with a boyish grin before meandering to the back of the room where he knew his tag was.

Olympia stood for a moment, basking in the warmth and light of the classroom. Mmm. Smiling to herself she began the hunt for her name tag, passing the Headmaster as she did so. "Morning, headmaster.." The Gryffindor smiled shyly and gave him a little wave as she passed.
Spotting her name on a table near the large windows of the classroom, Olympia headed towards it. The third year spotted Blaise and Ava on route and gave them a wave also. "Hi, you." She gave Blaise a small nudge as she walked past to her seat. Ever since meeting him at the first camp of term, Olympia had a little soft spot for the wandless first year. He was her new little pal.
Olympia carefully arranged her parchment, ink, quill and name card on her desk neatly- just for something to do, and settled down to wait for everyone else to arrive.
Olympia was normally a morning person, early bird catches the worm and all that, but she was struggling..

Coffee was a thing that had to happen before this class. Luckily, she'd had some with her pancakes this morning, so she was functional. Not as much as she was in the later classes, but it was something.
Something that hadn’t happened this morning, however, was Heather grabbing her coat. So she was thankful for the warmth of the classroom as she entered. "Good morning, professor," she greeted as she found her name tag and took her seat. Wait, that was the correct form of address, right? Maybe she wasn't quite as functional as she thought.
Hmmmm.

Because Zander Adair could hardly believe what he saw when he read his schedule. Like sure, he had early morning classes before because for some unknown reason Quigley always scheduled them bright and early the last two years... And unfortunately morning classes had always been a thing... but eight am was almost unheard of. Or maybe it was just unheard of because Zander always tried to suppress his memories of those ones. Ahem. But still. W H Y ?
Eight am was too early to do anything. Especially too early to do runes. Also too early to want to get up any earlier to get breakfast. So he didn't have a full stomach. Sorry. But he was sort of in a rush to get here. Aheeeeeeem.
He walked into the classroom, still wishing he had just a few more minutes to sleep. "Headmaster," he greeted the man with a small nod, "It's really early." Did the man know? Did people lose the concept of time when they grew old and wrinkly? Because Zander was running on about five hours of sleep and it was not going to go well.
Also eeeeerrr.... He had to figure out where his name tag was... He didn't pay enough attention in the last class to remember where he sat. And it was going to be a lot harder to locate at 8 AM IN THE MORNING BEFORE THE SUN WAS OUT. Ahem.

Daxton was not entirely sure what the obsession was with holding classes so early in the morning, but he knew he did not like it. Having hardly slept, and then decided to skip the ruckus that was the Great Hall at breakfast, Daxton entered the Ancient Runes classroom looking quite dishevelled. He paused to take a good look around the room, glancing briefly at the Professor-Headmaster, then took up his seat by door, getting out the Ancient Runes textbook he had borrowed from the library as well as his note taking things. While he waited for class to start, Daxton took it upon himself to flip through his textbook again, revisiting the more interesting parts.

Uggggh, WHY did the Professors insist on having early classes?? Paulina didn't do 8:00 am; it was way too early. At least she had the foresight to drink a cup of tea with her breakfast so she was somewhat alert.
"Morning, Professor," she said as she stepped inside the classroom. She was used to referring to him as Headmaster but thought it was appropriate to call him Professor while in his classroom.
Waving to her friends, Paulina took a seat at her desk and waited for the lesson to begin.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
He knew that old people preferred to wake up early but 8 am was just too early! He had to get up at 6am in order to get ready for the day! Showering, hairstyling, putting on creams, body lotion, mist spray on his face. Did anyone think he just rolled out of bed looking good? No. It took effort and time and Merlin’s Beard if he had to get up early again tomorrow he’d have hideous black bags under his eyes.
As he entered the classroom, which looked pretty ordinary at the moment, Yoongi overheard Zander telling that 8 am was too early and he nodded his head, agreeing with the Head Boy though didn’t say anything. “Morning Headmaster” he just said and sat down at his assigned seat.
It had been a lot harder to be in Ancient Runes at the beginning of the term than it was now for Sophie. There were some things that made her think of Tobes still, but all in all, she'd gotten over her sulking over his absence. She still missed him terribly, but... life had to go on, didn't it? This was HER last term now, and she needed to be making the best of it.
So she was.
With her morning run out of the way and a big breakfast devoured, Soph entered the classroom with a spring in her step and instinctively headed for her seat, smiling at the professor along the way. "All hail King Botros," came her chipper greeting, along with a formal, playful salute, and she slid into the seat next to Zander, looking entirely too happy to be at class so early. With less cheek, she added, "G'morning, Headmaster." STILL NOT OVER IT.
Plus, it was a BEAUTIFUL autumn day. What a time to be alive.

Phillip felt like a zombie. A zombie that wasn't after some brains, but after some sleep. Even though the coldness of the castle was starting to wake him up a liiiiiittle bit, there was still a lot of yawning and dragging of his feet because guess what? IT. WAS. TOO. EARLY.
Grumble.
What made this worse was that this was Ancient Runes, which was a H A R D subject. The boy kept getting confused with the symbols and what each of them represented. Magic wasn't easy. There was a L O T to remember, something that the first year was learning all too well, recently.
Praying to Merlin that it was nearly time for the holidays, Phillip stepped into the warm -- THANK MERLIN -- classroom. "Heeeey, Headmaster Sir," he said, smiling at the man and his cool cane and heading over to where his name tag was. You know, he should add a cane to his Christmas wish list. Or better yet, a LIGHTSABER. How COOL would that be?!
He was not that big into the subject like his brother. But he likes the Headmaster. So yeah this class was not that bad. Dante walked in as he usually would a class in the morning. Not really happy. But not really sad either. Just meh.
"Hey, Headmaster"
He looked around for his assigned seat not remembering if he wrote anything clever on it or just his name. He forgot. But luckily he wrote his real names.
So he flopped into his seat and waited for Headmaster B to start this show.

Angel walked into the classroom and smiled as she noticed the Headmaster. "Good Day Headmaster, I hope you are well today?" Angel was looking forwards to this lesson, because now all she had to do was find her seat.
Angel suddenly found her seat and went and sat down in it and now all she had to do was wait for the lesson to start, she wondered what the lesson would be about today.

Still debating this with a bit of a pucker to his lips, Davie paused beside the man at the door and gave him a small, but respectful, nod. "Sir." Yes, best to just keep things simple. He picked out a seat and got his desk ready with parchment and quill, per usual.

Janelle entered the Ancient Runes classroom and wondered what was in store for the students today. "Good Morning Headmaster", she said as she passed Professor/Headmaster Botros. It seemed that she was one of the later arrivals because the room was already rather full. Janelle headed to the desk with her name on it and sat down. Rumbling through her bookbag, she got her things ready and then sat back to wait for class to begin.

Dot thought it was quite wise, since she probably wouldn't need her wand for a while in this class, to wind her hair around it and tuck it all up on top of her head in a messy wand!bun. That kept her hands free to swing her bag at her side AND finish a piece of toast as she slipped into the classroom.
Toast all gone by the time she was slipping into her seat. Her stomach wasn't nearly full, but it wasn't empty, so that was her doing her part.
"Good morning, Headmaster! Did you eat a healthy healthy breakfast this morning? Were there prunes? I know about how important it is to eat prunes. Why don't you have any new rules this term?"
As students started filing in, Botros chuckled at the Slytherin kid and answered her with a nod, "Good morning, dear. Whichever is good." if it was appropriate, he wouldn't have minded they called him Ab, but he knew kids needed to learn manners at this age. Maybe when they were older.

Oh look, the Slytherin who talked a lot came over. Botros chuckled and made a face at prunes. "I don't like prunes sadly, and... would you please close the door? Thanks." His rules were satisfying as they were... if she had visited him at the office, though, heh that would be a good surprise for her.
Botros moved to stand in front of the class and gave a general bright smile in their direction. "Good morning again everyone, I'm glad that more than half of you children look alert enough for today's lesson," he gave a small grin to those who weren't. "Today, we're not going to tackle runes like we usually do. In fact, we won't be studying anything directly runic... or theoretical. Today, we're going to try and widen the perspective of our school experience." Yes? That was probably too confusing and vague for 08:30 am. "What schools have in common is education, isn't that right? They're institutions that offer academic knowledge in the first place and probably, what some people call, life common sense. How to act in certain circumstances, how to communicate, how to hold yourself in a group...etc."
Botros moved to the first desk on the first row of the class. "But our school is special. Students come to us when they're eleven and they spend most of their next seven years within these walls. They meet new people, they go on extraordinary adventures and eventually they leave young men and women with changed set of mind and heart-- mostly, for the better." He sighed happily. "Life at Hogwarts is a precious time. It'll be a huge regret if we don't make the most of it." Botros would pay to experience one day in Hogwarts with his friends and wife again, as young students. "There are people here who support and guide you if you make mistakes or feel lost. So, make sure you take advantage of this time here because when you're older and you're out there," he shook his head, still smiling though nervously, "Mistakes are much harder to fix. Just like... ink stains on white shirts." A small laugh was good to make sure they didn't find this speech intimidating.
SO. Ab clapped once before he went on, "I need each one of you to describe the person sitting next to you with one word. By order. Starting from here," he patted the first desk he was standing by. "Go. Even if you don't know the person, just tell us what word or adjective you think applies on them the most. Quickly. Let's start by describing me, go on."

Student B: Student A is Y
Student C: Student B is P
i.e. The first student to post after this post of mine is to describe Botros then the one after that will start describing the student who was posted before them directly.

As he set about getting his material out, Botros apparently was walking about returning greetings. Benny felt the pat on his shoulder and nearly startled having not registered the man's presence but he caught himself in time. The seventh year was already ready when class was begun in ernest, only to find out they weren't dealing with the normal lesson plans. Um... okay he supposed. It wasn't like he was the best in the subject but he was still studying and taking the class with the potential for his NEWTs.
Missing COMC was bad enough.
Yes still, Benny listened intently to what was being said, hoping he was getting the gist of what was wanted. Describing others...could be both easy and difficult. Appearance was one thing, anything else required some, if the tiniest knowledge of the person. Or at the very least the deciphering of the house colors on their robes. For now the focus was on Botros himself and the seventh year looked over the man to try and think of something that worked well.
"Wise..." he finally answered, speaking up after raising his hand.

Oh nooooo. It couldn't have been much worse, to Dot's mind, to end up sitting next to someone she didn't know very well and then be asked to talk about that person. She wanted to say something nice, or at least clever or something, but all she could do was stare at Benny with that blue-eyed goldfish stare she did so well sometimes.
Something. Say something about Benny. Something kind, because the Headmaster was kind and would want them to be that to each other. Something true, too, because you couldn't tell someone he was funny if you weren't sure of it. What did she know about Benny? That he was a Gryffindor, so probably brave in his way, and that he was a seventh year. Nothing useful there.
And that he gave about the most polite and reasonable answer about Botros that was possible. Ah-ha! "Benny is... pragmatic." Big word.

Champ? He didn't think he'd been called CHAMP before, and the pat on the back was, interesting. Zeke's grin didn't falter, but he certainly found his seat more quickly.
It was as he was unpacking his bag, that Headmaster Botros began the lesson, and a small part of him was disappointed they wouldn't be doing anything really RUNEY. Such a shame. How was he supposed to improve now?!?!... BUT... he couldn't deny that he was thrilled at not having to do proper work in today's class. Awesome.
He listened with mild interest to the whole spiel about life at Hogwarts and leaving as men and blah blah blah, but then what got him, was that they were being put on the spot. Adjectives? Those were describing words, right?
...
And so it was his turn... and it was Dot.
So uhhh...
"Dot is... intelligent," which may or may not have been decided as a result of her use of 'pragmatic'... whatever that even was.
