Gryffindor Pride for Life : Gryffindor House Party

Welcome to Gryffindor's first Luau in celebration of the new term! Inspired by the fiery spirit of the students, your professors have planned a night of flames and fantastic gestures sure to put the 'roar' back in Gryffindor. Once you've been led from the Great Hall by your prefects, you are taken to the Common Room, some of you for the first time, for a proper Scarlet and Gold welcome to the undisputed best house in Hogwarts existence.

Inside you'll find the Common Room ceiling charmed to match the night sky, much like the one you saw down in the Great Hall. The ground is covered in what you can only imagine to be sand and the fireplace has been extended so it occupies the entire wall in anticipation for the fire show a little later on. Tikis with flames on their heads are scattered about the room but you notice they aren't just any flames, they happen to be bluebell flames. Touch them if you'd like, they won't burn you, in fact you may find it hard to ignore a certain Head of House trying his hand at juggling a set of four balls engulfed in the blue flames. Care to try?

To the far side, by the staircases you will find a long table set out with light snacks such as cupcakes, bowls of chips, little biscuits with chocolate spread, marshmallows (for roasting if you feel so inclined) and little sugar cookies. After such a large feast, it's certain that another heavy meal wouldn't do anyone any good, least of all the house elves who might end up having to clean things up after. The staircases leading to the boys and girls dormitories have been charmed into slides, water slides to be exact, ending in a small pool at the base. Have no fear of getting wet, this water is charmed to slip right off once you get out of it. No soaked clothes here. Despite the narrow bit of stairs left on each staircase to allow you to walk up and down, don't be getting any ideas. They will still prevent anyone from the opposite gender to climb should any bold lion think they could get away with things.

The couches and large pieces of furniture have been temporarily removed to make room for the large beach towels tossed haphazardly along the floor. Sit anywhere you'd like, greet the new kids, share some laughs and welcome to another year at Hogwarts!

OOC: This is the common room thread for after the start of term feast - our first night home! The general common room thread will open in 3-4 days for regular RP depending on how much fun and chaos you all cause in here. Welcome to, or welcome back to, Gryffindor!

It was the high pitched voice of the elf gave her away.

"Argyle is bringing the apples, Professor Quigley!" she squeaked, snapping her fingers and sending the barrel of apples floating off to join the rest of the food at the far side of the room, and making the elf finally visible. She curtsied to the professors and then looked to them again. "Is the professors needing anything else? Argyle is happy to help!" Perhaps some cleaning needed doing? She looked around, but it looked like the party was only beginning. Though Argyle was excited to be able to help clean up all this sand when everyone had gone to bed.

It was VERY difficult to miss the SUDDEN arrival of a LARGE barrel of APPLES. This was certainly Quigley's doing, what a funny man. Funny funny fuuuuunnnnyy. He did have a fondness for the house elves though, and this one, Argyle, was just too cute. So little and eager - then again, they were ALL eager... or most of them, bar one that he knew of.

He was beaming in the house elf's direction, whether or not she could see him was another matter. Would house elves like it if he MADE them messes to clean up? It seemed a strange thing, but, if they enjoyed it... he was more than happy to provide them with the sport.

SPOILER!!: Quigley!

Why did anyone want such a horrid thing? Bungee jumping. HEIGHTS. He could go without the lot of them so naturally when brainstorming with Airey he chose this. What other option was there?

Rogers. MISTER ROGERS. People really needed to stop calling him that. At any rate, he didn't have time to interject and correct the man, because apparently there was some form of tragedy? He could see this being a thing, THERE WAS NO BUNGEE!

Eyebrows raised slightly, Zeke listened with great interest.

Was this legit?

Was Quigley admitting to ... murder? foul play? or was that initial CUTTING OF THE ROPE PLANS THING just a metaphor? Metaphor? Meh. The poor caretaker though... that would suck. What was his name? Mr. Fin? Flan?

"That's a shame, he looked like a nice guy..." from the distance that he saw him from - which was a rarity in itself. And it really was a shame they'd not be bungeeing either.

OOOHHHHH! WAS HE A GHOST NOW?!

SPOILER!!: Sir Nick!

Pleasant enough didn't sound quite so good... and he could understand why - he supposed. Kinda. "I can bet you galleons," he nodded in agreement, enthused by the prospect of taking a wager with a ghost. "I swam in a loch, mum took me shopping for robes, and then I was babysat by a man with a wand up his backside who kept telling me 'no'." Didn't sound all that exciting now did it? Of course, he omitted the moments where he DID enjoy the company of Ashley and Avery, Paige and Hady and others. It wasn't all bad, and even Elijah proved himself entertaining and even downright useful. Still he was confident he had this one in the bag.

She hadn't yet noticed her own reaction but along with the increased heartbeat, her breathing had quickened. Okay was he joking? Did they torture children here? Evie was now becoming terrified of the place. GREAT.

Okay....so they went from grins to some kind of internal panic attack in a relatively short amount of time.....

Was it something he said? Maddox might have dismissed it until the girl spoke of being burned and the man finally understood. "Burned? Heavens no. These are bluebell flames." He paused, realizing that if she didn't know they don't burn, she wouldn't know what bluebell flames were in the first place. That being the case, Maddox gestured to the one in his hand, tossing it from one hand to the next.

"See? Perfectly safe. It's a charm that does it. So long as you keep it off your clothes you should be fine." Was she absolutely sure she didn't want to have a go at one?

...until he was caught REDHANDED by the other professor.

Keep cool, Lance. Keep cool. Stop sweating.

"Oh, ummm uh... my cloak," he said, staring at the material in his hands before his gaze turned innocently back to the man, cheeks puffing out after a moment. The familiar burning along his neck and ears was beginning, but he was ignoring it. It was just warm in here, was all.

"Professor!" his voice boomed as he quickly glided his way over towards the two. "I do hope you won't find it an inconvenience if I took the young one aside and had a word with him?"

And it was very admirable that Sir Lancelot had not proceeded immediately to tell turns of the truth. Sir Nicholas puffed his chest out in pride.

Between the blushing boy and the babbling ghost, Maddox could smell a conspiracy, a possibly delicious one at that. Were he another person he might have been offended at not being let in immediately but the man simply couldn't muster enough care in the world for that sort of thing. It was neither here nor there for him and the Charms Professor had always made a brilliant devil's advocate.

"Your cloak, eh? I can see that." He said circling him once more for emphasis before coming to a stop by the ghost.

"I don't mind at all, in fact the fireplace looks a little empty." Such a good sport he was too as he plucked the cloak from the boy, holding it carefully because he WAS sure there was something in it but wasn't sure anyone else needed to know that yet. Maddox grinned a wide toothy grin, displaying his unusually large canines. "I'll take good care of this for you, lion's honour." Of which he had very little left....

Ahem.

.... Welp.

"Certain matters?" Zander was doing a horrible job of hiding the sudden nerves that just hit. Welp. He was also hoping that maybe Professor Quigley would give him a briefing on what to expect? Maybe? Knowing the guy... Probably not. He seemed like the type to play with his prey. Zander was the prey. Obviously. "Yes, sir. I'll be there." Did he want to see Puck too? Or was it just him?

How come they couldn't Professor Moxley to be the new Gryffindor House assistant? She loved him. Zander had made sure of that. There was no hope for Professor Q. That ship had sailed. A while ago apparently. Merlin.

"I didn't stutter, Adair." He said, taken a bit of his now acquired apple. Bless that house else. "Certain matters, certain matters that shouldn't need discussing but obviously do and so will be." Didn't get anymore cryptic than that but he wouldn't be giving anymore hints.

"Didn't I tell you to go enjoy the party? Why are you still stuck on this?"

Couldn't even follow instructions. Tsk tsk tsk.

She wanted to try that."Good job there Flamsteed." And there was Maddox too. "Hey, Professor Maddox. Nice job on decorating." She was speaking to both of them.

He was starting to think the students spent too much time with Airey, now they were even calling him by his first name. If the man could be bothered he might have said something but as it was, this was the first night back, a party of all things and he just...didn't think it was that serious.

"Thank you, Miss Bayless. Just trying to relish the last bit of summer before it's fully gone." Which it would be tomorrow when he was back to teaching and they were back to learning. It was actually a little sad to be honest.

SPOILER!!: Zeke XD

"Oh he was, he really was. It shouldn't have happened--as is the case with all tragedies. We should have known something was wrong from the way he screamed but Airey simply assumed the man was as put off by heights as some people can get." It didn't take too much figuring to know Zeke had bought into the story. Now it was only a matter of seeing how far the story would spread. That was always the fun part.

"I shouldn't be saying this to you but I feel you're a trustworthy boy; this beach theme is almost like a cover up. To avoid suspicion if you will and I think we've done a good job so far."

Maddox vanished the core of the apple he'd been eating and plucked another from the barrel. "So for now we crave your indulgence while we move against bungees for just a little while longer." Crunch.

"It was terrible, I spent most of the time in bed ill, I have no idea why though, I think it was a bad case of the flu or something like that, my mum did tell me what I had but I can't remember what she said, I was feeling really down at the time, you see I had a feeling I wouldn't get to get my school supplies but I did get to get them in the end which was fun." Angel thought so anyway. "What about you, did you have a good summer?"

Tragedies, what was that saying about those things? If there was one death, then it was death, if there were more then it was a statistic? Yeaaahhh, that sounded about right. Zeke felt like he was partaking in a proper gentleman's conversation now, Professor Quigley was all sorts of smart. "Bad things happen, and screaming IS a natural reaction to falling, so Mr. Flan should have been more specific with his final words." Or sounds, as it was. Whoops? "Lots of people die at this school, I almost didn't come back," but the here he was, and he was starting to think it had something to do with the fact that Sabel was here. Maybe? Either way, he was pleased he didn't have to go to Durmstrang, he didn't much feel like making friends that kept their wands up their bums.

When the Professor confessed that he shouldn't be saying anything, Zeke took on a serious expression and leaned in slightly so as to absorb all the words and keep them from prying ears. Cause THAT'S how it worked, right?

And he was right.

It was a coverup!!!!!

"Y'know... I'm good in a crisis, you can trust me. Have you disposed of all the evidence? What about his remains? Have they been burned? Liquified? I recommend liquifying, smoke might give you away. Does Bart eat people?" Not the student Bart, the squid Bart... the squid was big enough to get rid of him in one go. "If you need me to move anything or do anything, I'm your man." He'd have saluted Quigley as well, but that was hardly gentlemanly behaviour.

And sure, no bungees... for a little while.

"We'll bring them back later," he agreed, nodding.

"Stellar to see you again, Mr. Hyland," Airey greeted the transfer while he continued to juggle his bluebell flames. How long had he been going for now? Surely somewhere around 5 minutes. He needed someone to keep official time...which probably would mean he needed to request the assistance of Sir Nicholas since students needed to get their sleep.

"Oh yes, certainly. They are all tucked in my office at the moment, but you are more than welcome to adopt one at a later date." Perhaps once he had a week's worth of classes under his robes.

You know, got to be casual about it.

"Evening, Mr. Zeke," the astronomer grinned while he continued juggling.

Oh yeah...that...Airey did remember that discussion with the young man previously...but it seemed a rather unfitting sort of activity to have with scardy cat Maddox being involved in planning now. The man enjoyed teasing his mate, but he was not a cruel person. At least not intentionally.

"Perhaps we can arrange for an activity a bit later in the term involving that," he winked, keeping his other eye fixated on his juggling.

Deciding it might not have been that important, he simply shrugged and moved on to the man's health. "She thinks you've been a bit off today. I personally think you're about the same weird as always but there you have it."

Know what else they had? A ghost floating in to warn them of the students' arrival. So soon? Hadn't they JUST left the Great Hall?

It was no wonder Airey ran.

So. Loud.

Maddox cringed as the Prefect entered the room and yelled a greeting. Why did just about every aspect of life involve shouting? Just because this place looked like the outside didn't mean they needed outside voices, in fact the walls were still very much present and the sounds were very much bouncing off them.

Ow.

The Charms Professor gave a pained nod toward the boy when he was addressed, obviously already not impressed with him for this term. TSK. "Hello Mister Adair. I'll be needing a word with you in my office when you've got some time." Not a suggestion, or an invitation but a command. Surely the boy would know that much. "We have certain matters to discuss." But, you know, until then. "Enjoy the party."

See? He was still a nice guy sorta.

"I take it you like what you see." Maddox commented to the gaping First Year. They were usually the easiest to impress in all honesty but that didn't make it any less rewarding to see the excitement on their faces. Meant he'd done a brilliant job.

"Care to try your hand at some of these flames?"

The noise level on Miss Caruso was almost expected. Truly and this time, though there was a small grimace, the Professor was sure to pick his expression right back up and pull it into a smile because she was not Zander Adair so he didn't need to hold it against her.

"Thank you, Bianca. You mind tossing me one of those marshmallows you got there?"

Might as well, she was tossing them to the flames anyway and the man could go for something sweet.

*SQUINT*

Did that kid.....was that....his robe though....

For a few seconds, Maddox simply stared at the awe stricken First Year, wondering what the hell he might have just smuggled into the Common Room. Quite the curious thing it was too because Maddox was almsot sure he was smelling....onion gravy.

Hands now buried in his pockets he casually walked over, circling the boy albeit predatorily. "Whatchu got there?" Juuust curious. Sniff sniff.

A transfer from the Charms School? Maddox grinned widely, his unusually large canines becoming all the more visible as he did. This was absolutely brilliant, wasn't it? A new kid that wouldn't be starting from scratch. "It's a pleasure meeting you Yoongi, I especially look forward to having you in my class." Seriously, he now held a certain standard for this kid and would be sorely disappointed if he didn't match up well enough.

"Were you learning the more advanced charms there?" Old curiosity really. Maddox had always wanted to go to Charms School but it had never been in the cards.

Ah the first of the Valentine sisters to arrive. Maddox nodded warmly at her. "Doing alright Miss Valentine, and you? Had a good summer?" That was the sort of thing Professors were meant to ask, correct?

Oh look! One of his more liked students!

"Hello, Mister Rogers." He shook his head ruefully, as if he was about to recall a truly tragic tale, though it was partially in amusement as the boy got himself more comfortable. Why did anyone want such a horrid thing? Bungee jumping. HEIGHTS. He could go without the lot of them so naturally when brainstorming with Airey he chose this. What other option was there?

Hold the snitch.

There was a floating, talking Barrel of apples suddenly in the Common Room. NO ONE PANIC OR EVEN TOUCH THEM because they were officially HIS. Oh Merlin, what was this night? It was only after he heard the tiny voice that he finally remembered the patronus he had sent down to the kitchen. Bless the little elf, a whole barrel. He hadn't bee expecting that much but who was he to complain as he nicked one from the top and bit into it.

"Nothing else for now." Crunch. "I think we're all set until the children are ready to go to bed. This is highly appreciated. You are highly appreciated." And he was getting emotional about the barrel of apples. Could you tell?

Crunch.

And look, there was young Benjamin. "Good evening Mister Atreyu. I trust you got your wand back just fine?" Last he'd heard, Bellaire had plans to give it back and Airey was going to see to it that she did.

How had that worked out?

Maddox.....wasn't going to introduce himself. He wasn't going to yell to a room of students when they would all be quiet and listening to his introduction tomorrow. Intros twice in the space of 24 hours? Did he look THAT bored to anyone? The man didn't think so.

What he WOULD do was scowl at Airey til he was done. "You're almost as bad as Mister Adair." Only almost, because he actually liked Airey. "Must you always be so loud? Bust my eardrums while you're at it, Circe."

But hang on, that wasn't the only thing. "Classes start tomorrow...?" Blink. Huh. In his head he had at least another week.

Wow.

SPOILER!!: Lance and dat lyyyin' ghost

Ahem.

Children were incredibly perceptive, more so than he had ever anticipated. Thankfully, Maddox seemed to be ignorant to the change in the astronut's persona and therefore he would continue to feed that notion by offering the man a shrug.

Nope. Nothing out of the ordinary...at least nothing he wanted to discuss right NOW. Perhaps during their next Friday game night...

Losing track of some of the happenings in the common room - man on a juggling mission over here - he saw Maddox take something (the boy's uniform?) from a first year. It didn't take Sir Nicholas long to react to this and then Maddox to insist. Which meant there was food involved most likely.

Airey would have walked over to see what was going on but...priorities. Juggling and perhaps even getting his name in the muggle book of records was far more appealing than investigating at the moment.

However...

"Sir Nicholas," he called over to the ghost. "When you are done speaking with Mr. McWitty I was wonder if perhaps I could have a word?" A favor really.

He managed a small wink towards the first year. She seemed to be a very lively one. Had several of those this term, actually. Should make for interesting times in the dormitories which...he would ask Marion to go check on should the need arise.

Nothing but happy thoughts for the moment here because he wasn't Zander Adair the screw up. Noooope. He was Zander Adair the good Prefect at least he was pretending to be for the moment being.

"I don't think so, Professor!" at least he didn't think so. Hopefully none of them got lost on the way up.... 'Cause that would be very unfortunate. Very. He nervously kicked some of the sand under his feet before looking up at the Astronomy man. "The sand is a nice touch."
...
Chuckling, Airey could tell that the prefect was a bit tense in his presence. Clearly, the man's attempt at a bit of humor had gone completely over the sixth year's head.

"Good good," he nodded, juggling some more. "Relax, Mr. Adair. Enjoy yourself."

Yup, just his cloak. Nooooothing more.

Lance just about melted with relief when the ghost, whose name was still unknown to him, came over and asked for a word with him. His eyes brightened, heart pounding at the prospect of getting out of this alive and uncaught. IT WAS WORKING.

No, no it wasn't working.

"Wha-wai-I-I-I-I-I-I..." his clammy hands clasped and unclasped at his sides. His cloak! So much sweating. So much DREAD. So much heart pounding, holy hippogriffs! He was going to get expelled. Or worse. Detention. No wait, that didn't make sense. Glancing back and forth from the cloak in the Professors possession and dear gosh, what large teeth the Professor had...

Fortheloveofallthingsoniongravy, his Head of House wanted to speak to him too.

Tugging at the neckline of his jumper, he visibly swallowed, feeling a little faint. He failed at his title of Gryffindor Knight of the Silver Platter.

Her parents couldn’t tell her that one though, as they were both Slytherins… though they did say they got on fine with the Gryffindors, they hadn’t been in the house to have the same viewww. Seeeeee. So it was lovely to see that the Pride really was as nice as she had been told.

This was her NEW, EXTRA EXTENDED large family.

Heh. As if she needed more family, but whatever. She liked being close to people - and she wanted to treat them well. Friends, but BETTER. Like Lance. AND Zac. And Rusty and Evie seemed awesome too. HOW lucky was she? Hehehe

Nodding her head, Marsha continued, ”Yip! Though, it wasn’t fair I had to wait soooo long, I turn 12 super-soon.” Twenty-five days to be exact. She had had almost a fullll year to wait. She hadn’t been happy last year but it did make her all the more excited this year now that she was here!

”Oh, I love it! It is incredibly amazingly awesome!” Too many words but she didn’t care because it was totally true. ”Though it is huge! I don’t know how I’m going to make it to classes without getting lost.” The new Lioness looked worried. She didn’t REALLY even remember how to get here. There had been so many people around her, and the crowd had sort of carried her here… Would she find her way back to the Great Hall in the morning for breakfast? OH MY GRIFFIN would she get lost and starve? Oh gosh. Please no.

So much enthusiasm. It was endearing, really. Or well, you know, Zander thought so. Did he have this much enthusiasm as a first year? No, probably not. But the important thing was that he was trying now. Even if he wasn't succeeding all too well... Either way, it was quite hard to match the girl's enthusiasm, but he gave her a huge grin in return to reassure and everything. Really, he was TRYING to be just as pumped about... Well, what was it that she was pumped about exactly? Life in general, maybe? Yeah. THAT.

"Oh! When's your birthday?" Not that he'd likely remember it, but he could try to do that too. Try to remember her birthday AND try to be just as enthusiastic as she was. Challenge accepted. You know what, Gryffindor should just have a list of everyone's birthdays. That way they'd never have to feel awkward and uncomfortable when they forget one. They should also invest in getting a suggestion box, 'cause Zander had tons of ideas. Ahem. As you could see.

Zander did, however, let out a soft chuckle as she went on to explain her thoughts on the school. It is incredibly amazingly awesome, huh? Except for last year. But that was an isolated term as long as he was concerned... Well, not really. But still. For the moment being, it would be counted as such. "Getting lost is half the fun, anwayas!" he laughed a little, though he was completely serious. "I used to get lost all the time, but that's how I found all my favorite places." He had LOTS of favorite places now. Owed it all to getting lost too. "And erm, if you'd ever need anyone to show you around..." It wasn't a requirement to offer this kind of thing up as a Prefect, right?

But it was the right thing to do. And so, "I wouldn't mind. Especially if you wanna explore around the grounds," 'cause outside was probably his favorite.

Zander smiled at the ghost, nodding his head as Sir Nicholas spoke. "And you weren't wrong," he looked around another time, still trying to take it all in. The bluebell flames were a nice touch, even though they were probably Professor Q's work 'n all... Y'know, being that charms and stuff was his specialty. "Thanks for cluing me in, sir." Was he supposed to call ghosts 'sir'? "I hope you're going to stick around for a bit." He is good compnay mhm.

Could this man get any more intimidating? The answer was no. He was at the height, Zander was sure. Or well, if he wasn't... Zander wasn't sure he wanted to see what the height was. This was good enough to give him the shivers, thank you very much. Except he was trying his best to keep cool.... Though he was obviously not cool at all. But no one could tell, RIGHT? "Erm no sir, you didn't." He was just checking? He never implied that Quiggers had stuttered it was only a question and he just-- Sigh.

See, there was literally no hope for Zander anymore. Was this some sort of bad karma for never bringing apples to lessons last year? Or maybe it had something to do with that whole forrest debacle. Maybe. Ahem.

But uh... Huh?

You see, when Zander was hoping for clarification on the whole matter about what certain matters they were certainly going to be discussing, he was kind of hoping for actual clarification. And not... Well not whatever that just was. If anything, that only made matters worse for the Gryffindor, confusing him further. "Uh." Certain matters that shouldn't need discussing but obviously do and will be? What did that even mean??? UH.

"Um I just-I..." Uh. He just. Well he was. He just. Uh. Okay Q, you win. Wait noooo he knew exactly why he was still stuck on this. 'Cause he wanted to PREPARE for what was yet to come. "was just about to go do that...." Merlin. This guy was the worst. But Zander wanted his approval. WHY.

A bit tense was light way of putting things, actually. He was all sorts of tense. But he was trying reaaaaaaally hard not to show it. Except he was really bad at showing how he felt. Learned that the hard way a couple of times. Sigh. It was rather unfortunate.

"Right, erm, yes Professor!" he added a salute as well, 'cause that's what Professor Flamsteed did. And erm... That was two Professors who had told him to go enjoy the party... Though this one seemed a lot more genuine than the first. Ahem.

Quite nice not to speak to each other with such terms as 'ghost' and 'living person', wasn't it?
The House ghost smiled at him! He knew that he wasn’t as grumpy as he looked! “Thanks Sir Nicholas” he grinned broadly and turned to his Head of House once more.

"Oh yes, certainly. They are all tucked in my office at the moment, but you are more than welcome to adopt one at a later date." Perhaps once he had a week's worth of classes under his robes.
Yoongi watched for a moment as the Professor was juggling the bluebell flames and he wondered how long he could keep this up. But he didn’t want to stick around and watch for too long because he still needed to try out the waterslide. “Cool, I’ll do that” he smiled. “Wait..where is your office Sir?” he asked. “this place is huge “ He hoped he could find the Charms class first thing next morning.

Seriously, he now held a certain standard for this kid and would be sorely disappointed if he didn't match up well enough.
"Were you learning the more advanced charms there?" Old curiosity really. Maddox had always wanted to go to Charms School but it had never been in the cards.
Spotting the large pointy teeth, Yoongi’s first thought was Vampire. But then again, the things he did know about Hogwarts was they did not hire Vampires or any other kind of dangerous creatures to teach subjects so he ruled that out. The man just had bad teeth that’s all. Although, they did hire that Dakest man. He had been in the Daily Prophet article hadn’t he? Unsure of willingly working for a dark wizard or having been under the imperius curse. “Yeah, nice to meet me too..” what? “I mean! You too, not me” oops?

“Yes I did” he nodded. “Though not too advanced of course. It’s more that the spells that are practised let’s say in third year here I learned it in my second year” So he was advanced but not too advanced. “I have to admit that I was afraid to be extremely bored but this Hufflepuff girl, Leah? Well, she said that the classes were fun and interesting and never the same so I’m really curious now” he said and secretly could not wait till tomorrow as he knew he would have Charms first thing in the morning. “Anyways my parents wanted me to learn more than just Charms so they send me here although I did wish they didn’t sent me here in my OWL year. I never had Astronomy, Divination AND Ancient Runes there so I have to learn five year worth of facts about the subjects in half a year so this should be fun!” Of course he did not look like he would be having fun with that, he already looked like he was going in to a panic attack. He took a deep breath to successfully calm himself. “Sorry, I think too much. Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself so I’ll be going now, I need to make friends all over again”

"Oh uh, yeah of course!" Zander LIKED this guy. He said thank you. HUH. Best new Gryffindor right here, take notes people. Man. Zander was all kinds of beaming at him. "Not a big deal, I kind of like showing people around." Sorry New Kid you started it. "If you need someone to show you around the rest of the castle... I'm always here, especially now that he wasn't cramming for OWLs. BEAMING. Ahem.
Oh oh oh one more thing. "And erm, I'm Zander." Wasn't sure if he said that already, but there's that too.
Yoongi looked at the Prefect with a slightly raised eyebrow. “It’s not very common to thank a prefect for doing their job..is it?” he asked. He felt the same when he had heard from Adi that it was uncommon to hear someone hoped to be a Hufflepuff. Also, judging from his many oh’s and uh’s he wondered if this guy had been a perfect choice to become a prefect. Weren’t they supposed to be …good with words at least? Of course, Yoongi said nothing about this and he smiled when the guy beamed at him. “You would?” he asked when he offered to show around the castle. “That would be fantastic! I tried to remember how we got here from the Great Hall but I forgot already” …….oops? “Do you know many secret passage ways? And is it true that portraits can be used as short cuts?” he asked.

Oh right, he hadn’t even introduced himself. “Nice to meet you , I’m Yoongi” he grinned. “Want to try the waterslide?”

"Hi you two, I'm Zander," he gave them a big, warm grin. "Welcome to Gryffindor." Tada? He did it, right? Right.

Evie smiled at the older student. "Hi, I'm Evie! Thanks."

All magic required careful and diligent observation or else risk injury or death. Though he kept such thoughts to himself.

The small girl smiled at what she now realized was one of the ghosts she had seen at the feast. Her mouth forming a small "O" as he explained the flames. "So just keep them off my robes then?"

Evie blushed violently from embarrassment as the Professor began his explaination of the flames. And by the time he had finished she was sure she was the color the Gryffindor students ties.

"Can- Can i hold one?" the girl managed to stammer out after a few moments of awkward silence.

He let out a low whistle when he saw the common room. This. This was nice. Best way to be welcomed back really. It was a nice fitting end to summer. He grabbed some roasting sticks and marshmallows before plopping down in the sand next to Cinna.
Cinna almost didn't realize that Mitchell had came in right behind her. She was getting used to seeing him all of the time now. Spending practically all summer with him off and on. His brother married her sister, so yeah, Mitchie was family now. Pretty cool right?

She laughed at his whistle he must have been just as impressed as she was with the theme. "This is great right?" She settled down on the towel. She grabbed a stick and stuck a marshmallow on it. Roasting it or more like burning it to a crisp.

He was not sure how long he would linger here in the common room, having a few personal matters he wished to attend to, but he supposed he could spare another few minutes or so. He did, after all, have an eternity to deal with his personal affairs.
"Hello Sir Nicholas. How are you?" Enjoying the party right? She was. And the food she was enjoying that too. Roasted Marshmallows were the best right? Well maybe the ghost didn't know. She wasn't sure.

Seriously they had just had a feast and here she was grabbing food left and right, Marshmallows mostly. Burn ones because they were the best. "Yeah, it's nice to extend that a little longer." She was missing summer already and she was sure that a lot of others were too.

Oh. She really did want to try jiggling the fireballs. It looked like so fun. "Sure. I'd love to." She smiled a little. "Later after I burn some of the marshmallows." Burnt marshmallows were the best to her. She blow on one to get the fire out. Tossing it in her mouth she nommed on it. "Sure. I can do that." She promised that she wouldn't burn his. Or a least try not too.

OH! Look! The Prefect was being lovely and asking her about herself. EEE. Her family had been so right when they had told her that there were so many nice people here and that she would soon find friends within a few weeks; enough that she wouldn’t miss her sister as much as she thought she wa going to. Marsha was pretty sure she was still going to miss her family, but at least the people here at school were nice and lovely and were going to keep her busy, occupied and with lots of company.

”It’s on the 26th of September and one of the other first years that just sorted in as a Lion - Zac- is on the 28th!” She grinned wide. Why this was relevant she didn’t know - but it was to Marsha. Especially since their birthday’s were so close together. Wasn’t that cool? She personally thought it was awesome that one of her best friends had a birthday so close to her own. Hehehe.

”Really?” She looked at the older boiy and frowned slightly. ”Getting lost is really that fun?” She looked confused. Why was getting lost, so good? Surely it was better to stick to where you knew and not end up wandering in circles? The castle seemed to have a gazillion floors and, on that note… Where was the “ground” floor? There was the door by the great hall, but they had just come off of the boats and entered the castle from there… and she had been told about a courtyard exit and there was a wooden bridge exit that lead to the forest… too many exits so which gave them ground level? SIIIGGGGHHHH.

”Oh! The grounds!” The eleven year old bounced on the balls of her feel slightly at the mention of the grounds. ”Are they amazing? Are they breathtaking in the daytime? Can you see for miles? Are there animals? Please tell me there are animals?” Whoops. Breathe Marsha, let him answer your first fifty questions before asking him the rest of the trillian questions that are racing through your head. Wait and breeeaaathe.
