After a long hard day of hunting, and lessons, or even just a busy weekend, your dormitories will be your haven. It will be more than just your home away from home, and it is the place where you can come and relax after a long day or a late night. The four poster beds are surprisingly comfortable, and it's easy to get lost in the smooth red velvet covers. Should you want some privacy from your chatty dorm mates, feel free to close the hangings around you and lose yourself in sleep.
After all, every lion needs their rest and with the portraits watching of you - perhaps some evening serenading you to sleep - it is sure to be a sound sleep.
*OOC: please note that changes to room assignments may change based on bios posted in the 'Meet the Pride' and Character Biographies threads. Have an IC complaint about your dorm assignment? We are sure that Professor Flamsteed would love to hear it as your Head of House
Any character listed that does not have a (username) is a non-playable character and entirely up to you (and your IC dormmates) to make up their personality and habits if you so desire.
Despite there only being two rooms per year listed above, IC there are obviously more rooms in the tower. After all, there are 9601 students in the school and about 2400 of those are Gryffindors. This is just meant to help create more of an IC feel for you as to your character's housing situation.
If you see anyone that is missing or any mistakes, please notify your Head of House.
Goodness, Rowan LOVED the dorm. She liked that they got to share with enough people, because she did back home so it would be strange if she didn't get to here. She was still working on making it feel like home though, because everything was so different here, so it was gonna take some time.
For now she was content with decorating her bed. She was glad for curtain rails that went all around it, because they meant she could hang things. Specifically, feathers and charms on long pieces of thread or string. This one would bring luck, and that one was for good fortune, and this one meant she would stay in good health.
Rusty sang softly to herself as she decorated, stood on her tiptoes on her bed so she could reach the rails...
"As above, so below. Spirit and matter in a dance so slow. As within, so without. Great mystery that spirals in and out..." It was one of the songs they sang back home, and it eased the homesickness a little bit...

Marsha couldn’t believe how much luck she had already. Not only had she met up with and stayed GREAT friends with Lance and Zak (who had just turned TWELVE like her) but she had awesome dorm-mates with Rusty, Evie and Lottie. She really did like them all - even if Lottie and Evie seemed to be quieter than Rusty and her… though really she didn’t think that was very hard. Teehee.
Bounding up the stairs, Marsha opened the dorm door and grinned as she saw Rusty inside. ”Oh, they are so cute!” She said, pointing to the charms that Rusty was currently hanging around her bed. She really did think they looked nice, though she wondered why she was hanging them around her bed and not by the window. They looked like some of the glass charms and catchers that her aunt Parker and uncle Harry had in the windows of their house; and the light would catch and spread across the walls. It was always really pretty… when they got the sunshine for it. Hehe.
”How are you feeling?” She asked, crossing her legs on her own bed and she looked at Rusty in the next bed over. Leaning her elbows on her knees and her chin on her fists. She was homesick, she couldn’t lie - but at least she had some of her Mam and Tad’s youngest cousins and extended family relatives in the older few years… She wasn’t entirely alone - plus she had some awesome friends now.
Rowan hadn't even got to the second verse of the song when one of her dormmates came in, but she didn't mind, she could always pick up where she left off later. Friends were more important. "Thanks! They remind me of home." she said, beaming at Marsha as she hung up more feathercharms next to all the little hanging quartz, tigers eye and other crystals.
But how was she feeling? That was a difficult question. Rusty hung the final little charm - a jet pendant - and then flopped down on her bed. All the hanging things swayed slightly with her movements... she liked that. "Homesick." she started, rolling onto her side so she could look at Marsha. "There are twenty eight other people back home and they're all like family so it's kinda weird being here and most people being kinda strangers." She started absentmindedly braiding a little bit of her hair. "But I really love the magic and the lessons and it's great meeting all the new people and making loads of friends and it's all so new and exciting but I still kinda want to go hug my grammy and my mum and my Robin. And I wanna tell them all everything all at once because I know they'd love it." No, she wasn't aware that she was saying everything she was thinking, but she did that a lot, and once you got her started it was difficult to make her shut up. "Also I'm not entirely sure about the food here and I think our head of house is kinda nuts and I still think it's a bit mean to make the owls deliver all our letters but there's no other way for me to write home."

The easiest way for the sixteen year old to go to go sleep read. Even though she hated to, you would too if a book made you think you were Cinderella for weeks.

Evie had begun yawning in the common room more and more frequently so she decided that it was time to go to bed, however she definitely did not remember exactly where the prefects had said they were. Climbin the stairs the small brunette made it halfway before she began closing her eyes and dozing.
Jerking awake as her forehead touched the staircase wall. Quickly she ran up the remaining stairs and found the dorm room that was to be her new home. Pushing open the door she found Marsha had already left the common room party along with another girl that she had yet to meet. "Hey Marsha! We get to share a room!" Evite grinned before turning to the other girl. "Hi, I'm Evie. " the smile still plastered on her face.

Marsha waited for Rusty to finish her decorating, just watching her as she played a song in her head… though she didn’t really know the words just the tune so she hummed it and then realised that really she just knew the chorus so she repeated it over again until she figured out that a) it was going to get old soon, b)Rusty was lying down so needed her attention and c) it was STILL stuck in her head. Griffins.
Woah, twenty-eight. Though, really… if she included her family and extended family and mega-extended close family, then she was in the hundreds, couple of hundreds really. She always felt badly for the new boyfriends and girlfriends of her aunts and uncles - their family was just growing and the amount of names to remember was horrendous - even more so if you weren’t born and brought up with it.
”Well, you have me, whenever you need me.” The girl got a large, empathetic smile. ”I know how weird it can be being away from home. My parents had my little sister a year ago and it is really weird not hearing Alis crying or trying to get attention from me or pulling my hair.” She smiled softly. It had been nice not being the littlest in their family over the last few years though as her parent’s cousins had started having children of their own.
Marsha giggled though, she adored Rusty and silently wasn’t sure who had more energy out of them. Not that it was a competition. ”Well, the lessons are crazy. Or, I think they are and will continue to be.” She laughed. And Professor Airey WAS insane but she was convinced it was the best kind of crazy possible. ”Aww, but you know that they are magial owls and not muggle owls… How else would they be so good at delivering post?” She asked with a tilt of her head. Surely it was what they were meant to do apart from sleep and eat yummy food.
Looking up as the door opened again, her grin grew wider as she saw Evie coming into their room. ”Hi Evie!” She said, waving with one hand as she swiveled slightly on her bed so that she was looking more towards both girls instead of solely at Rusty. As Evie collapsed on the bed next to her on the other side, she scooted backwards so she was leaning against her headboard. There we go, perfect.
”This is Rusty.” Marsha said, ”Rusty was in the compartment with Zac and Evie was in the compartment with Lance.” She told them both; she had come in and out of both compartments the whole train ride as she hadn’t wanted to choose between Zac and Lance - so instead had tried to spend an equal amount of time with both of them (and subsequently) the girls that they had been with. Hehe.
How COOL was it, that all four of them had then joined her in Gryffindor. Silently, she thought it was fate! FATE!
”So how are you finding school so far?” She asked Evie. They had been so busy lately that she felt all she did was climb into bed, collapse and then scramble out of it in the morning when she had to get up; wondering where the night had gone. She NEVER felt like she slept enough. Whoops.

But right now there were just so many people outside and after what the little Hogwarts gossip paper said Emmy just didn't want to be around a large group of people because she felt like they would feel bad for her when her and Kace were perfectly fine and if there was someone between them Emmylou would have taken care of it but there's nothing to talk about because NO ONE was between them. The sixth year looked are for Cinna and spotted her right away. "CINNA!" Emmy yelled with a big huge smile on her face.

She still acted as though the magazine had something important enough to read. Lalalala What there was an Emmylou in here. When Emmy shouted her name. Cinna just kept reading a pretend article on whatever she was pretending to be reading about. Except for she was grinning and the grinning soon turned to so major giggling and laughing."EMMMMMYLOU!" The sixth year, closed the magazine, and rolled around still giggling on her bed,

That was so lovely... Rusty's friends were so GREAT. "Thanks Marsha. It's just weird not having everyone super close and available and stuff. Like we all live in the same three houses next to each other so it's just... strange." Yes, they were big houses, to house nine or ten people in each, but it was still nice and cosy sometimes, probably because there were 28 of them.
Rowan waved at Evie as she came into the room, then sat up from her position on the bed and picked up a box from her bedside table. "I like the lessons, but they go really fast and I can't always keep up." she admitted, holding up her inky hands. "And I still can't get the hand of the whole quill thing... I miss normal pens." Biros. Felt tips. That kind of thing. They were so easy to use and they didn't require her to dip them into a pot of ink that would inevitably get everywhere and make everything messy.
...Magical owls..? "Well then surely they have better things to do than deliver our post?" she said, opening the little box on her lap and taking out some little colourful stones. "Cause I bet they're really clever and stuff... did you know a group of owls is called a parliament?" She started to arrange the little stones on her bedside table... in the shape of a smiley face. "Cause they're smart." She'd read that in one of the old books on the shelves back home...
"It's so cool how we're all in the same house." she said, poking a little blue stone into the place of one of the eyes on her smiley face. "It's like having an extra family." And Rowan was aaaaall about family.

This would have been easier to brush off if people didn't care so much about this 'honorary Gryffindor' not isn't an honorary Gryffindor. She's a Hufflepuff and nothing else.
The sixth year blonde smiled at her best friend/cousin/sister. She looked around the dorms before pulling the magazine out of Cinna's hand and throwing it on the floor. "Hey." She waved a little. For a moment Emmylou just stood there next to Cinna's bed with her hands on her hips. "You know if that honorary Gryffindor wasn't mentioned in that article people wouldn't still be talking about it a few weeks later?" Emmylou did some air quotes when she said 'honorary Gryffindor'. She was only called that because of her boyfriend.

Toddles bes goods elfs." Toddles gives misses snackies. Yes Toddles. "Misses wanties snacks?" Toddles asks misses yes Todddles does.

See Cinna didn't pay any attention to drama, because drama llamas were lame, very lame. Save the drama, life was much better without it, she knew that eyeing a certain dormmates bed. Heh. Then here was the gossip, another thing that the sixth year didn't read much into. She didn't care people could talk about her as much as they pleased she didn't care. She knew there were probably some that did. NBD. Whatever. It didn't hurt her. It didn't bother her.
Sassy Emmy was all kinds of sass with her hands on her hips. Still Cinna couldn't help but to laugh at her. She definitely didn't need help on her sassattuide. she had that covered on her own. House elf....house elf.... She wanted to adopt one. She could do that right? Right? Her dad didn't believe in having one so in her whole life she'd never had one to do things for her. So since she was at school and the cute little thing was offering snacks to them. Of course she would take the snacks if someone offered."Yes, please." Angel was totally looking forwards to finding someone to test her potion on, she was so excited that it was given for homework, though she was still wondering what that smile was all about from the professor, when she had gone to asked him if she could speak to him... he basically had snapped at her saying that she could speak to him later, which had confused her even more seriously what was with everyone this term.
Angel looked at her vial of potion and then looked around the dorm to see if she could see anyone... the next person through that door was going to get her potion even if they didn't want too... she seriously hoped that it would be her sister, they hadn't done that much together lately and she was missing her.
Potions Homework #1 - Post 1 (even though this technically doesn't count) Ahem.

AJ was starting to drown in homework and she was thinking about blowing it all off when she thought of how her parents would react to that. They didn't take too kindly to her getting lazy in her studies. Normally AJ didn't care at all what they thought, but since they were the ones that paid for her schooling she thought it was probably best if she at least humored them. Not to mention that she really like being the best at everything so it couldn't hurt to put a little more effort into her homework. Well, it couldn't hurt much. Right? Yeah, she was going to go with that.
With her potion in hand, AJ made her way over to where her sister was assigned her bed. It was still kind of weird that they didn't have the same room assignment, but AJ didn't mind all that much. She was constantly with her sister at home so this could be viewed as a nice little change.
Apparently she was in luck because Angel was there, and AJ wasn't going to exactly ask for permission. She needed to get this over and done with and Angel would be a good person to try it out on. "Hey sis. Take my potion pleaseeee." You had to add the politeness on to things. People usually responded well to that. No need to tell her which one she picked. Angel would know in no time at all.

Angel was totally wondering who would be the first to enter her dorm, she hoped it was her sister but she had a feeling it might be one of her room mates since her sister was in a different dorm... Angel sat on her bed and thought about what was going on. She was looking down at her shoes when she suddenly heard someone.
"SIS!!!!!" Angel was glad that it was AJ that had come into the room, it was going to be awesome and it seemed her sister needed someone to drink her potion as well. "I'll drink yours, if you drink mine." Angel smiled, then remembered her manners. "Please." Angel knew that her mother would kill her if she forgot them.
Angel took the vial of her sister. "Okay then." Angel looked at it, she wasn't going to get poisoned or anything like that was she? Angel decided after a few moments she might as well drink it.

Angel was totally wondering who would be the first to enter her dorm, she hoped it was her sister but she had a feeling it might be one of her room mates since her sister was in a different dorm... Angel sat on her bed and thought about what was going on. She was looking down at her shoes when she suddenly heard someone.
"SIS!!!!!" Angel was glad that it was AJ that had come into the room, it was going to be awesome and it seemed her sister needed someone to drink her potion as well. "I'll drink yours, if you drink mine." Angel smiled, then remembered her manners. "Please." Angel knew that her mother would kill her if she forgot them.
Angel took the vial of her sister. "Okay then." Angel looked at it, she wasn't going to get poisoned or anything like that was she? Angel decided after a few moments she might as well drink it.
*gulp*
Well, she couldn't exactly ask her sister to drink hers, and tell her that she wouldn't do the same for her. That just wasn't how things worked. "Deal." But, wait a minute. Didn't Angel have problems with her potion. In fact AJ remembered clearly about her having to start completely over. "Is your potion... okay?" she wondered out loud. Like, she didn't want to foam at the mouth and have to go visit the healer. She had heard some wild stories about that woman.
"Where's yours at?" Not that she would know anything just by looking at it, but maybe there would be some sort of sign if something was terribly wrong with it. Or she could have some faith. What was the worse that could happen?
Well, she couldn't exactly ask her sister to drink hers, and tell her that she wouldn't do the same for her. That just wasn't how things worked. "Deal." But, wait a minute. Looking over in the direction that Angel pointed to, AJ walked over and popped the lid off of the vial. She sniffed it for good measure, and there didn't seem to be anything off about it. Besides, death was the worse thing though could happen to her, and she seriously doubted the potions professor would let Angel leave with potion that could take someone out. If he couldn't hurt a unicorn she doubted he could hurt a human.
Before she had a chance to actually drink the potion, her sister lost all of her marbles. "I'm about to. I just had to make sure this wouldn't kill me." No faith here. Couldn't exactly forget the trainwreck during the lesson. Those sort of images just didn't leave so easily. Leaning her head back, she downed the potion.
Merlin, in the second it took for AJ to swallow, her sister was already sprawled out on her bed. "Not going to go and tell on me, are you?" That was the sort of thing Abby would do, but sisters could be weird.
Angel was being super giggly all of a sudden... even more so than usual. the potion must have hit her already because AJ brewed the excitement potion. When she picked that emotion she was thinking that she would be the one to drink it. AJ hoped Angel didn't pick something lame... she didn't want to be mad. There was no fun in that.
At that very moment a wave of happiness swept over her, and she couldn't stop smiling. Deciding to join her sister, AJ hopped on to her bed and layed down beside her. "Isn't life just wonderful," she said with a dreamy smile on her face. AJ breathed in deep. "Your dorm smells like sunshine and chocolate and that just makes me SO happy."
The lion picked up a pillow and smashed it underneath her so that she was very comfy. "Ah, this is the life. It just doesn't get any better than this." While her sister kept repeating herself, AJ just sat there kicking her feet back and forth behind her with a huge smile on her face. A girl could get used to this feeling.

Angel giggled. "Why would I kill you?" Angel then suddenly added. "Do you think I'd do it to get all your sweets?" Angel nudged her sister. "Hey!! Hey!! Hey!" Angel would never hurt her sister. "Sis!! Sis!! Sis!!" Angel giggled as she chanted waiting for AJ to drink it.
"Yeah!!!!!!!" Angel smiled when her sister finally decided to drink it. "It's not my fault the Professor put me off." Angel nudged her sister again. "Didn't you see the smile he gave me." Angel giggled some more as she got the image of the smile in her head.
Angel nearly fell off the bed at the next thing her sister said. "No that's Abby's job." Angel decided to have some more fun, putting on her other sisters voice she started to try and scare AJ by acting funny and threatening to tell on both of them if they didn't do as they were told.
Angel had a funny feeling the potion had hit AJ now. "It's smell like!!!" Angel giggled as she poked her sis. "No sis your wrong there... it smell much more nicer than that!"
"Yeah this is the life!" Angel giggled. "Actually this is your life!" Angel was trying to figure out where she could get a book from. "Soz sis, I can't find a book to give you like they do on this programme so this will have to do." Angel gave her sister one of the pieces of parchment that was next to her.
