The door to a mysterious door on the fifth floor swings open to reveal a dank and dusty room which has clearly been vacant for years. White sheets cover the furniture, cobwebs fill every nook, cranny, corner, and everything in between, including a cup filled with wooden potion stirrers. The heavy scent of mildew permeates every aspect of the room. For some reason, all you can do is stand and stare inside.

Though the door swung open easily, a strange barrier once again prohibits the living from entering this room. The barrier was put in place by Marcella Riddle the term after her unfortunate demise and protected the peace and quiet of the ghosts still residing at Hogwarts. The room has on off since laid quietly in the years since the young Hogwarts ghosts reattained their bodies.

SPOILER!!: Hady

For this part he needed his hand, both of his hands... and so after dropping his hold of Hady's he pulled his wand from his costume pocket. Grinning, he nodded and followed Hady's lead yet again, by selecting a pot of his own to work on. He didn't much care about which seedling thing he chose, cause they were all pretty much the same anyway.

Setting himself up, Zeke glanced to his partner before annunciating the incantation, "Vitari," focusing on his seedling and flicking his wand in time. Groooowwww seeding GRRRROOOWW!

It grew fairly quickly, and as it did that, it grew a PUMPKIN!!!! It was average sized, but... the charm had worked. What did that mean???

"How'd you go?" he asked, noting that Hady had a pumpkin about the same size as his... same result?

Quickly he took a marker and scribbled his details on the side of the pot.

Oh look! Zeke got the charm to work on the first try too! "It worked. I guess these all turn into pumpkins?" Shrugging her shoulders she glanced around at some of the other pots that held pumpkins, some very BIG pumpkins. Why were some of them so huge? Not that it really mattered much Hady was just glad that she got the charm to work.

Gently grabbing Zeke's fingers she moved them both over a few steps where more potted seedlings were. "Ready to try again?" She dropped his hand once more giving him a smile. This second year was all ready to give it another go and then enjoy the rest of the party!

Pulling her wand back out of it's holder she flicked it towards the pot giving the incantation clearly as she did. "Vitari!" This seedling didn't grow as fast as the last one had but it grow into a pumpkin just as before. Maybe how big they grew had something to do with the intent of the charm?

Oh well at least she made it work. Putting her wand safely away she grabbed a marker to fill out the sticker on her pot.

They all turn into pumpkins? He looked over all the ones that had been charmed so far. Indeed, they all had biiiigg pumpkins on them. "Weird," he concluded. "But I guess you're right." He was wondering though if this was evidence of the cross-quarter day thing having an impact on plant growth... or whether it was just a load of rubbish. So far he couldn't say he was confident in it.. but he'd give that charm another go. "Yep, ready," he replied, smiling.

He let Hady pull him over slightly so they could work on new pots, and just as he had with the last, he took a deep breath, focused on his seedling, imagined it growing with great speed and to a great size... flicked his wand and chanted, "Vitari!"

Just as it had with his first, the little seedling grew... and grew quite quickly, but there was nothing significant in its size, it was quite average considering the size of some of the others in the vicinity.

"I don't think this cross-quarter day thing does anything for charms work." That, or he was doing it wrong?

Again, Zeke labelled his potted pumpkin.

Dear Merlin Peeves was getting closer to them. Margo had now completely hidden her body behind Zeke. This was terrifying, ghost Margo didn't mind at all, but that darn poltergeist was scary business. "Please go away, I didn't do anything to you!" Margo told Peeves nearly crying, she was doing her best to stay calm. And then she heard Zeke ask about jokes. "Good idea Zeke, keep him distracted" Margo whispered to him.......she was hoping Peeves would just leave her alone!

Margo turned and smiled at Lux, still keeping one eye on Peeves, never turning her back completely. "I'm loving Hogwarts! Having so much fun, minus that thing!" Margo said pointing toward Peeves hoping he would listen to the joke. "Well I wanted to be a doctor, but now that I have this wand." Margo said smiling showing off her favorite thing about being a witch. "I think it would be great to be a healer!" Margo said smiling. "What about you, any thoughts for life after Hogwarts?"

As Hady finished filling out the table she turned to watch Zeke. His pumpkin had grown again aswell but it didn't seem as big as the others either. Had they done something wrong? She didn't think they had.

"I don't think so either but at least it was fun." She laughed softly shrugging her shoulders. It had been an easy charm and they had helped the pumpkins sprout so really it was a win win there. Shuffling her foot on the floor in a moment of thought she lifted her eye to her friend once more. "What should we do now?" There was always food again or finding their friends.

PARTAYYYY!

Caleb deserved this. He TOTALLY did. He'd been studying his butt off for OWLs, acing his prefect duties...and all of his homework had been done way before the due date. He'd never been this ahead in classes like...EVER! It was something about having the badge, he'd decided. At first he'd been hesitant, after that disastrous feast, but everything had calmed down. Life was good.

Dressed up in his pirate costume, Caleb entered the party and made a beeline for the food. Pumpkin flavored ANYTHING was AWESOME. After stuffing his face with a cauldron cake, he decided to get the extra credit thing out of the way before he partied because then he could focus on FUN!

He headed over and grabbed one of the little seedlings they'd been given. Time to see if this Astronomy stuff was right or not...he cleared his throat, pulled out his wand and muttered "Vitari!" flicking it at the pot and waiting to see what happened.

Cool, it GREW...but not like SUPER GREW. Boo. Well, guess he wasn't getting any extra help from the stars...

He quickly scribbled his name on the pot before moving on to find a new one.

No time to waste, he said the incantation "Vitari!" with a flick and he waited and saw it grew and GREW....to an average sized pumpkin. Ooooh merlin he was hoping for something better. He shrugged and labeled his average sized pumpkin.

"YOU"

He cackled, but didn't move back at all just stayed way to close to the girl.

She didn't even know why she was here. For one who never really dressed up for Halloween, Beverly seemed comfortable in her costume. She was acting as Cassiopeia, why wouldn't she? Didn't the old hag claim to be the most beautiful along with her daughter? Exactly. So today Beverly was letting out her smug side. It was to play the part and partly because she did posses that side. Just kept it hidden.

But today she was also expressing her....social side. Ewww. She had promised to be involved in student activities. Not all, but more than last term. Apparently spending too much time with Jeremiah wasn't all that good though it was great. But she agreed. She'd probably be napping right now, which sounded like a stellar idea, but being cooped up too much made her cranky. So here she was.

Maneuvering the dress, she strode over to the saplings. They'd caught her attention. She wanted to try this stronger cross-quarter magic thing. All to sedate her curiosity. Taking one of the saplings, she withdrew her wand. She knew the spell save for what the plant was. Oh well, she'd do her best.

"Vitari!" She cast with a flick toward the sapling, a hopeful look taking over her features. Come on.....

Dot worked over the label for her first pumpkin, although she wasn't sure she cared at all if they attributed that work to her. Unless they let her keep the pumpkin and she got to finally drop it off a tower. Question to ask the professor!

Without delay (and enthusiasm), Dot cast on the new pot. "[i]Vitari[i]." Once again, a regular size pumpkin. Siiiiiigh. With a glance out for the professor, Dot pulled it from its vine and stuck the pumpkin under her cloak. It gave her a very odd looking hunch, but was otherwise invisible. "I have plans for this pumpkin. You saw nothing."

Seeing the Slytherin girl fix a label onto a pot, Kate realized she'd forgotten to do that for the average-sized pumpkin she'd produced earlier. Kate quickly set one up and fixed it to the pot.

So she was Dot. Kate was glad to have a name to put with the face, because 'the Slytherin girl' sounded kind of odd to be calling someone. "Me neither," she said, meaning unicorn trees, "but I was almost born on Halloween. I missed it by about half a day." Well, she was born at 7:38 A.M., but it was close enough. "Being born on a holiday would've been cool." Kate looked back toward the pots and realized she still had yet to produce anything from the second one she'd been working on.

"Let's try this again," she commented. With a flick forward and a bit more intent, Kate gave a strong "Vitari!" She stepped back and stared at the soil, daring it in her mind not to sprout at least something. "I think this one's broken." Nope. Not broken. She'd spoken too soon. The soil shifted again, and something quickly started to sprout and begin forming. Did it seem to be moving along a little faster than she expected?

Then BAM!

Just like that, she was looking at a large pumpkin outweighing her first one by a pretty good bit. She'd even had to step back, since she'd been staring into the pot in anticipation. "Wow." ... "Now that's a pumpkin."

...and she even remembered the label this time.

Awesome, Kace was going to watch The Power Rangers with her. "We can watch other muggle shows too if you want!" She didn't watch a lot of TV, but she did enjoy it and sometimes watched movies too, especially The Little Mermaid. "Hey, you wanna have some fun with me here?" Maybe Margo would like to join in.

A doctor, huh? Healer sounded even better. "I'm sure you will make a great Healer." The little Puff would have a great bedside manner, and would surely do well at school with her eagerness to learn things. "Me, I want to be a Potioneer. I love brewing potions, and it's my favourite class." She was so excited for the workshop and her lessons with Professor Culloden next term.

Stinking Peeves had to butt in and ruin the fun. "Leave her alone." She glared at the poltergeist and wished he would go away and stop picking on Margo. Bully.

The Gryffindor almost let out an audible gasp when Adi mentioned trading cards. Almost. He wasn't actually going to gasp, pffft. No. Just grin real wide. And maybe even accidentally bounce a little? "YEAH! I'm a chocolate frog card collector, if you didn't know," well a kind-of-sort-of-card-collector. He hadn't seen anything like them until Hogwarts since you know... #mugglebornproblems BUT once he got his first chocolate frog in first year, the collecting came naturally. He had SO many. And he wanted SO many more. Yes. Perfect. See, Adi was such a great guy. Even though he still used that horrible nickname. Pft. Zander the Weird. Pft.

Ooooh YEAH!! That sounded fantastic! "YES! I mean uh... I haven't watched any of the super hero movies yet, just kind of... I've been working my way through the comics," so watching the movies? YES PLEASE bring it oooon! Except, where were they going to get old movies like that? Maybe... Maybe the Hogwarts library would have them in archives or something? This castle was pretty old... Hm. Have to ask Kitridge about that, honestly. Unless Puck owned them. In which case COOL!

Man. Puck really was the cool one.

"If it makes you feel any better... My costume's real hard to move in?" Dysfunctional Gryffindor Prefects over here people. Itchy costume and stuck in place. AH. What a time to be alive.

"You uh, you're a really big fan of sparkles, huh?" Ew. Sparkles. They were girly and went EVERYWHERE and not to mention he had to spend a full day in third year trying clean them off of Professor Flamsteeds waiting area couches. And off the floor. And between cushions. And yeah no not a fan of sparkles over here. Though, uh, he couldn't really say that outloud, could he? He'd shatter the poor little girl. Yeah. Just going to pretend like we're indifferent to them. YUP. Sparkles are OK.

"Professor Flamsteed got pretty serious when I pronounced it wrong in class," speaking of which, he glanced to the side to look for the Professor in mention, make sure he couldn't hear this. "Apparently it's a big crime when you say it wrong," and then people get in trouble for laughing at you in class. Yeah. Never again. #NEVERFORGET. "But uh, thanks! I tried to stay true to the planet 'n all." Yoo-RAIN-us was blue, was it not? He had to look it up in the textbook before making the costume and everything. The Prefect laughed a little a bit when her eyes did that wide thing and she ran circles around him for inspection. It wasn't that serious, it's s'okay. Shhhh. "Oh, uh... That's alright... I was planning to just scrap this after the party." Glitter didn't do much damage. He'd just take it off near Bart's bed. Heh.

Eyes on the little sapling, the Gryffindor pointed his wand and took a deep breath. Apparently breathing is very important with spellwork. Makes your words better understood and stuff too. And helped calm you down. Apparently. "Voltari!!"

Uh. Why wasn't it stopping?! Hellooooooo? Pumpkin? You can stop now. "Uhhhhh," the Gryffindor had to back up and allow it some... Uh.... space to do it's thing because woah. It was starting to be the size of his head. And now the size of his costume!? UM. AND FINALLY it stopped growing. But it was HUGE and GIGANTIC and right out GINORMOUS. Uh. Nothing to see here people. La la la.

.... the firstie was... scared, clearly, and he didn't know what to do. It wasn't as if Peeves had actually DONE anything... yet.

The only thing he COULD think of to do, was put his arms out behind him, as if they would shield her from the poltergeist any better than his body between them anyway.

Unfortunately though, it didn't seem like he was getting anywhere with the distraction thing.

He nodded to mean YES, yes he COULD tell Peeves a joke, but it seemed Peeves was more interested in joke telling himself.

Zeke frowned, annoyed that Peeves was being a total BUTT about things. Peeves was a PEST. "Leave. Her. Alone," he stated strongly, wedging himself between them again. "If you wanna pick on someone, pick on me."

This had been disappointing, but at the end of the day... it wasn't so bad, they had were at a party, and parties were cool. "Yeah, fun," he echoed Hady's words, his lips splitting into a grin now that they were done with the work stuff.

He watched her for a moment, shuffling her foot, before catching her eye. What should they do? ... Uhhhhh. "We could join the others? Or... play one of those games over there?" He could have sworn he saw bobbing for apples and bowling. "Or we could just hang out?... somewhere?" Did she have anything in mind?

Hady meet his eyes with her own a small smile gracing her lips as she looked at him. She watched him for a long moment as he seemed to be thinking about her answer. Games? She hadn't noticed any games but then again she hadn't been looking for any.

If she had to admit it she was actually looking for him when she'd first arrived. Anyhow games... Glancing around she saw what he was talking about and nodded. "We can give it all a go , if you want." You know play some games, hangout with their friends and just talk or whatever. Right now being with her bestie at a party this young snake was up for anything.

Of course he liked her style! Seriously who didn't? She knew she was epic and clearly he did too otherwise he wouldn't be hanging around with her. However he used her full name...well not completely thankfully. Full name usage unnerved her a bit. And she wasn't all that thrilled on her middle name. Anyhow it was time to get moving.

Feeling his hand take hers, she easily closed her hand around his fingers. It was just normal for her now and she didn't think twice about it at all. "Well without style where would I be?" She giggled returning the smirk.

Now where to start though huh? Walk, talk, eat, games? Uh...

There was so much to do!

"Walk, talk and see where we end up?" This was easiest really. If they came across friends then they'd stop and talk. When they came across a game they wanted to play then they'd stop for that too. In the mean time they could just talk about anything like this. "Alright random question time, what's your most favorite food. The one you could live off of?"

It was growing and growing...and growing...and growing...and it wasn't stopping. Once it passed the average size of a pumpkin, the Prefect felt like a mad scientist watching it's experiment rise and rise and--she cackled softly behind her hand. Her pumpkin was a monster pumpkin. It was beautiful and rich in color. Yes, she'd done it perfectly.

Beverly walked around it, bunching her dress in one had as to not trip over it. What a beauty. Look at this! This is what hard work looked like. Not exactly a monster pumpkin but great spell casting. Dropping the hem of her dress she stood in front of it, arms crossed over her chest, a smug smirk on her lips. She was feeling like Cassiopeia before her end. And she might even believe in that stronger cross-quarter magic thing.

Zeke was enjoying the splendour of the Spirit Room, and took a moment to admire the lanterns floating above them which he hadn't payed much attention to before. In doing so, he was completely oblivious to any discomfort he might have caused Hady.

He couldn't help but chuckle though, at Hady's admission to having style. "It must be a Slytherin thing," he concluded, they all seemed to have that swag and style thing going for them, and Hady was no exception.

Walking and talking was fine by him, he was in no hurry to do anything in particular, and he was content enough talking to her, so he didn't feel the need to talk to anyone else either. He'd kinda been there and done that, if anything he might just want to find Paige if she was here for a quick hello and catchup. But Puffers were Puffers, who knew where she'd be at. Nodding, he followed Hady's lead, allowing her to steer them where she wanted to walk.

Random question time though, well, that had him smiling.

Style was a Slytherin thing? Hmm maybe. Though Zeke has style, his own epic way of getting things done and Hady liked that.

"Maybe. Or maybe I'm just special like that." She teased grinning at him playfully.

Cake. She'd seriously have to make a note of that. Who really didn't like cake though? Chocolate however wasn't her favorite but she figured he probably knew that already. "I guess you could mix that stuff in but cake isn't really cake unless it's got lots of icing and really sweet." Hady replied, her feet taking them towards the games. The apple bobbing game to be exact. "Jolly Ranchers...or candycanes. Gotta be green apple though." She always had at least one of those with her but no one knew that...maybe she'd let Zeke in on the secret.

Maybe? Yeah, well he was pretty much convinced of it, though Hady's assessment of her style was an interesting one too. "Of course you are," he replied, and he actually said it sincerely. There wasn't a single hint of sarcasm in that statement and it was all because it was true. She WAS special, cause he'd never met anyone quite like her, so that in itself was evidence enough of her .... specialness. Yep, words, he had them.

He noticed that she was taking him to the apple bobbing game, so with no complaints he complied and continued to move past costumed people, ignoring them and enjoying their random conversation. He chuckled. "You're right, but who's to say you can't have a lot of sugar and icing if you have vegetables? Carrot cake is LOADED with sugar and icing." A prime example right there, and a classic one too, but it had to be moist. There was nothing worse than dry cake.

Jolly Ranchers, he had NO idea what those were, but considering she also said candy canes and green apple flavour, he assumed it was a type of candy. Green apple though, that was nice. "I love the smell of green apple, but I think cherry candy canes are better." Should they debate the topic? Or simply agree to disagree? He wasn't really fazed either way. BUT... as they were playing this 'random question' game, he figured it was his turn to ask one.

"Random question," he started, indicating that it was his turn. "Got any secret talents?" And yes, that was the best he could come up with on such short notice.

Being a snake as she was the first thing she did to his statement of her specialness was direct her eyes to his face studying him. Not hearing her sensing any sarcasum what-so-ever she beamed brightly. Clearly he agreed with her and that was special to her.

"Alright I'll give you that one. It does but one has to like carrots." Cause if you didn't well then you wouldn't like the cake. This snake though had no problem at all with carrots. Stopping at the apple bobbing she squeezed his fingers lightly gesturing to the game. "Want to give it a go first?"

Did he know what those were? Cause if he didn't she would have to make sure he did soon! "Nah green apple is best, or to me anyway. When my mom sends me more I'll give you the cherry ones then." Since those were his favorite she thought he would like that.

It was his turn to ask and a good question at that. Did she have a secret talent. She sure did...one not many people knew about. "Um well...actually yeah. I take photos lots of them now and I also sing and dance. My mom put me in dance school when I was really young." How about you?"

Margo was comforted by the fact that Zeke held his arms out ... thank Merlin, someone was trying to protect her! And Lux was right behind her too.. Whew!! Margo was protected on all sides She was so grateful in this moment for these two she was a little over whelmed with emotion.

With a small *sob* Margo turned toward Peeves and then he was right there...right next to her. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Margo screamed!!! She was trying to back up, but Zeke and put himself in between them, Margo tripped over her own feet and feel with a flop right on to her butt, her only hope and saving grace would be if she didn't take Lux and Zeke down with her, and maybe if Peeves would go away.

Oh no, she was making a scene everyone was going to turn and look at her and see she was afraid of Peeves, she'd be the laughing stock.

Still backing away from his ginormous, speedgrowth pumpkin the Gryffindor nervously took out a scrap piece of parchment and a quill. Quickly writing something along the lines of 'Zander Adair fifth year gryffindor' he quickly stuck it on to the flower pot before abandoning the giant pumpkin and moving on to another little sapling thing.

Okay. Round two. And hopefully this one would you know DO THAT THING again.

"Voltari," and again first try because heh herbology was a thing he could actually do most of the times. And ooh. This one was... Sort of growing... Slowly sort of growing. But still. Maybe this was normal growth? He wouldn't really know actually since the last one grew at super speed. But either way, it was getting there. Just a bit more to gooo.

And oh look. It stopped at a normal pumpkin size. HA. Good. Maybe he could just pretend that this was the only pumpkin he grew, incase Professor Flamsteed got mad about super hug pumpkin number one?

SPOILER!!: Adi!

She does love plants

Well Adi had obviously believed that he had meant Angel all along as he hadn't reacted negatively and his girlfriend, not AJ was the herbology fan. "Yeah, she does," Benny agreed before chuckling softly at the added pumpkin shell comment. Yeah, he certainly wasn't the pumpkin eater named Peter.

Finishing the label on his plant, the Gryffindor watched as his friend went to try his spellwork out on another plant. This one reacted rather sedately or at least more normally in comparision to Adi's first attempt on growing the pumpkin seedings. And the pumpkins were roughly the same size as the ones he himself had grown. Benny couldn't help wondering if they were charmed to behave certain ways.

It didn't look like Adi had done anything different each time.

"Mhmm," he said as he picked out another potted plant to work with. "Vitari!" he eventually cast once he was ready. The growth of the about normal...or maybe a little faster then the normal effect of the spell. But in the end, the pumpkins that were formed at the junctures on the vines were HUMONGUS! Not unlike the first bunch of orange goards that Adi had managed to grow himself. "Yikes..." Benny mused found himself moving the plant and pumpkins away from others as it grew.

"But cool."

The Gryffindor taking the marker again to claim this pot as his. Benjamin Atreyu...fifth year Gryffindor.
