This is the room next to the storeroom. It is smaller than the classroom. There are twenty working stations. Outside its door stands a rostrum with a notebook on it. You have to sign your name, the date and hour of your entrance before entering the laboratory.

This is a laboratory for students to practise their potions brewing. There is a cupboard that holds every equipment that might be needed during brewing: cauldron, pestle and mortar, wooden and metal sticks, phials, to name a few. Don't forget to borrow protective dragon hide gloves, robes and googles if you forgot to bring yours.

On the board, there writes the rules in a neat, big-sized writing:

Write your name, the date and hour of your entrance.

Clean your station before starting and after you've finished.

Don't forget to take the necessary precautions for your safety: Wear dragon hide gloves, protective robes and googles at all times. I am not responsible if you are injured here.

Do not test your potion on others or on yourself unless approved by me.

To brew a potion with me, you have to schedule it with me first. Otherwise, call me only in an emergency.

The class opens at 8.00 AM and will close at 9.00 PM. Please finish your potions until then or notify me first before starting a potion that will take longer than 13 hours to brew.

OOC: This is not a class. I will not hold classes here. This thread is for role-playing and fun, and will remain open all term long. You don't have to specify the exact date and hour. You just RP your character signing the notebook and start having fun!

Adi was retrieving Murtlap, having just Scourgified a knife and a tray when Culloden arrived. "Hi, Professor!'' As always, he was pleased to see the ever cheerful Professor. And he brought cookies! Adi was convinced that the Professors, well mainly Morgan and Culloden, were trying to make their students fat. Hehe. Luckily eating cookies and sugary goodness was never a problem for him.

"Thanks a ton! I'll have those when I add this stufffrom the murtlap.'' The Puffer indicated to the ingredient set out on a clean tray before him. That was the next step- adding the anemone like thingy from the murtlap. He had read before he came today, Yes indeed.

He removed the anemone thing then proceeded to cut it up using a clean knife. whistling softly, he stood before his cauldron waiting with the tray. "So, how are you, Professor? Anything new in your life?'' Just a few more seconds to 12. 41 now.

It was good to see Adi cheerful too, and Cosgrach nodded at the boy. "Well, they are yours. You can also take them to your friends." He sat down and craned his neck forward to see better.

"Oh," he laughed briefly -WAS IT TIME TO ADD YET??- and waved his hand. "Nothing. My life is as ordinary as it can be. How about yours, though?" Students were the ones having the real fun, he knew.

Adi nodded. Yes, he would be sharing those cookies. "AJ will be pleased to have some.'' And so would Benny since cookies were what his guy bestie didn't mind. Soooo, nothing much going on in the Professor's life. He figured the man had a must have a quiet life. Anyway. "Nothing exciting at the moment. I think this potion is the most interesting thing going on right now, though. And OWL studying is the most boring.''

Annnnnd it was 12. 41! Into the cauldron went the thingy from the murtlap. No stirring required. At least as far as the fifth year could remember but if he needed to do that, Culloden would tell him.

Cosgrach laughed at him. "This potion is interesting, though." Imagine, liquid luck! Who wouldn't want it?

When it was time to add the ingredient, though, Cosgrach actually kept silent not to distract the boy. He didn't want to cost him 3 month's work, after all. He ceremoniously clapped when Adi did it correctly and he got up.

"Let's also turn the burner more," he said, "and keep the flames at that level." Once Adi did that too, he'd leave until the next month.

Next class? Nope she was not going to the next one. Nope she was just going to go to the potions lab and make more of the confidence potion…or maybe some other potion? She wasn’t sure really she had her books and her supplies.

”why were you staring” she groaned and leaned against the lab table because hello. She needed to make things and ignore the fact that yeah well she’d been staring at him…someone had to have noticed. Oh god it was awkward.

"Probably it's the most interesting Potion,'' Adi replied and he wondered if he could create something just as interesting in the future. Or perhaps even MORE interesting.

Once the new ingredient was safely added- and on time too!- Adi adjusted the burner as Cosgrach said to do so that the flames were bigger. There! All done! Adi was super pleased with his work so far. "Thanks for your time, Professor. You can have some cookies too, you know.'' Adi would be rewarding himself with a few the moment he got out of the lab. But first he needed to tidy up. He did so then bid Culloden bye bye. "I'll see you around.''

Cosgrach smiled at the boy. "Of course, Adi." That was his promise, and he enjoyed private sessions. "Nah, I've my share." Adi didn't really think Cosgrach gave aaaall the cookies to him, did he? HEHEHE.

"Take care," he said and left shortly after the boy...

*a month later*

Cosgrach entered the lab early to check if it was still intact and such. It was, and Adi's potion looked great too, which made the man nod to himself. Now, where was the boy?

Adi was back at the Lab! And so was Culloden. The man had beaten him once more. "Good day, Professor!'' Safety equipment on, the Hufflepuff proceeded to check the flames of the cauldron. All seemed well but still, he decided to seek confirmation from the Potions Master. "Professor, the Potion is being brewed correctly, right? Well, I know the methods are okay but in terms of the colour and texture...'' He trailed off. Culloden would know what he meant.

Oh yes! Adi did have another question. "I read that a bit of thyme should be added next after which the potion is stirred again. Should the thyme be chopped? And in what direction should we stir and how many times?'' Okay, so he had questions as in multiple of them.

Grayson had been doing what Grayson did best and being all cool and whatnot when....... HELLO. Puck Name Sharer Greyvson was moving off to the Potions Lab instead of going somewhere else, which caused the boy to raise his eyebrows. What was THAT about eh? And he noticed some interesting things going on in the Potions lesson. Uh huh.

Instead of heading off to grab a snack for himself, the Slytherin looked behind him before slithering behind the girl and heading into the Lab after her. This wasn't creepy behaviour, mkay? Not when he was just trying to find out a thing or two about the girl and her odd behaviour. Besides, he could act casual about this. Sure!

"You can't help but stare at me. I do have a fantastic face, after all." Joking. He was joking. Diffusing the tension and whatnot.

There was no way that anyone had heard what she had said. Heck, she had made sure to be as sneaky as possible. Even slowing her usual fast and almost bouncy gate to a lumbering one. Yep. Totally was working wasn’t it? Well she thought it was as she dropped her head against her potions book. That voice. Oh god.

Ah, here he came! Cosgrach smiled at him.

"Hello, Adi!" He approved Adi's work ethics so much, too. The boy always put on safety gear. He'd make a great potioneer, he would.

"Yes, Adi, no worries." That was why the man assisted him - to make a good potion. "It's tincture of the thyme, so it's the liquid of it. It's already prepared." So no chopping. If Adi didn't have that among his ingredients, Cosgrach could give him some. "As for stirring, it's clockwise and until the potion is shining. Shouldn't take more than 10 or 11 stirs." Cosgrach gestured at the cauldron then for him to begin.

Oh, right! A tincture. How could Adi gotten the meaning of that word mixed up with cutting and chopping? Well, that's what Culloden was here for... to correct him and make sure he did the right thing. He nodded at the man then began rummaging through his supplies, eventually retrieving a vial labelled with the ingredient.

"Got some!'' Adi uncapped the vial and added some to the cauldron at the usual time- 12. 41 PM. Then it was time to stir. With a quick Scouring Charm on the stirrer, he bean to stir in a clockwise direction.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten... the mixture wasn't shining as yet...eleven! Aha! NOW it was shining!

"At least this time around did not require stirring until my hands felt like they would fall off,'' Adi told Culloden cheerfully as he cleaned the stirrer once more. This meant they were done for this step and month, yes?

Good thing Adi got some. Cosgrach watched carefully again as the boy carried out the step, and - done! He laughed briefly. "True, this is easy," he said, and got up.

"Yep, all done here. See you next month."

*ONE MONTH LATERZ*

Another step needed to be done today. As usual, Adi had reminded Culloden of that via owl yesterday. Today he would need to add a ground up Occamy eggshell as well possibly do some stirring and more heating.

After pulling on the usual and necessary safety gear, Adi magically cleaned hid mortar and pestle, added a occamy eggshell then went on to crush it up.

Crush!Crush!Crush!

There! All done. All he needed was the appropriate time to reach and a particular Professor.

Cosgrach liked Adi's precision. The boy never forgot anything, and it was good to know he'd made a good recommendation to the MESOP. He arrived after Adi - who was already crushing the egg, and smiled at the boy.

"Hey!" he greeted, and examined the potion, then the egg he'd crushed. "All is well." They had done so much so far. It was great to get the results.

"Hi, Professor!'' Adi brightly greeted back, keeping an eye on his watch as well. Just less than a minute to go now. "Just a few quick questions to make sure I'm going to do the next steps correctly. How many times and in what direction do I stir?" His brown eyes flicked back to the watch since they had been on Culloden.

Fifteen, fourteen, thirteen seconds...

"And do I need to adjust the heat?"

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, ONE!

The Puffer upturned the mortar and at the precise time, emptied the crushed occamy eggshell into his mixture.

Cosgrach groaned a little as he checked the title of Adi's book. "This recipe is a bit vague, isn't it?" he said, and looked back at the boy who was adding the eggshells. "It's clockwise, and until the potion doesn't allow you to stir anymore. Like... your hand will slow doooown and at one point, you can't stir more." That was vague too, but luck was vague. Heh.

"And, yes. Adjust the heat."

Then they would be done for today.

"It is,'' Adi said as he quickly Scourgified the mortar and pestle. One would think there would be precise steps in a textbook. "Luckily you're around to clear things up.'' Ahhh. More stirring until his arm muscles got all stiff and seized up again! The sacrifices a potioneer must make. Hehe.

With the magically cleaned stirrer in hand, the Hufflepuff began to stir in a clockwise direction. STIR, STIR, STIR! On and on went he went, stirring briskly and consistently but not rushing the process.
..............

"My arms are starting to really hurt now,'' he informed Culloden as he got wind of that familiar sensation. Oh yeah, he was definitely not stirring briskly anymore. Stir, stir, stir, stir, stiiiiiiir. Nope, he couldn't stir any more. He removed the stirrer and wincing in pain, adjusted the heat as instructed.

"All done, Professor.'' Excuse him while he sat down for a moment to regain the feeling in his arms.

Hehe, yeah, after failing this potion for THREE times, Cosgrach had memorised the steps. He smiled, but didn't say anything not to disturb Adi. A good stirring rhythym was very important, so he wouldn't want to disturb that. Instead, he watched the boy...

"This is another reason this potion is so hard," he said cheerfully, and clapped the boy in the back.

"But we're going great! Almost done now, see?" he pointed at the book. "Only 3 more steps."

Adi winced at the slap on the back. His poor arms, man. They had DIED! "No pain, no gain, Professor.'' Heh. He'd show this person who was boss when he was done brewing it. One thing was certain though. He would not be brewing this potion for a while. Not because of the time it took- he had the patience for that. It was the endless stirring.

"Yep, almost there.'' Adi grinned. How rewarding it would be to say he had brewed Felix Felicis in his fifth year at Hogwarts. At least his arms were slooooooowly regaining the normal feeling. Adi snatched up his wand to clean the mortar and pestle and stirrer. He didn't want to keep Culloden away from any other important he may have to do.

"I'll see you around, Professor. Thanks for checking in today.'' Adi realllly appreciated it.

*ANUZZER MONTH LATERZ*

Unfortunately today's step did involve stirring also. His poor arms. LOL. The usual safety measures taken, the Puffer stepped up to his cauldron to check on the potion. It seemed to be okay but Culloden would know for sure. Speaking of the man... he hadn't arrived yet. Anyway, there was at least five minutes left before the next ingredient could be added so Adi went about looking for powdered common rue.

Cosgrach laughed briefly. "That's right," he said - no pain, no gain indeed. They only had what, two months left now? They had come along a loooong way, and it made this man happy for sure.

"See ya," he said and after a few minutes, left the lab to go to his office too...

Cosgrach was here!

"Hi Adi," he greeted the boy not so energetically, but nothing suggested he was unhappy. "Everything looks great." The colour, the smell, the concentration... was ADI ready?

"Gotcha!'' Adi had found the final ingredient for his potion. He couldn't believe it. Six months were up already. All that patience and hard work was about to pay off. Of course he couldn't loose his concentration now; that would be bad.

"Oh, hello, Professor!'' There seemed to be something a tiiiiiny bit different about the man today but Adi couldn't figure it out. It was his same old Professor... right? "Got the rue all set.'' Adi watched somewhat nervously as Culloden checked his potion. Everything was alright? AWESOME! "I'm glad about that. It's almost time to add the rue.''

Stepping up to the cauldron, the Hufflepuff kept an eye on his watch. Oh! He did have a question. "How long should we heat the Potion for?'' As he was asking that, he grabbed a bit of the rue to add into the cauldron... at the precise time, too. Next step? Stirring.

"Is this clockwise stirring too, Professor?" The stirrer was magically cleaned and ready. The stiree might not be so enthusiastic though. Meh.

"Great!" he said as a response to Adi's readiness, and stepped back to let the boy finish. This was too exiting to sit down, however, so he was on his feet.

"Yep, clockwise," he said, "because we want our luck to progress." Did it make sense to him? It'd sounded perfectly logical to Cosgrach.

"And you heat until it steams, then put off the fire for good." Was he ready?

"As it heats, let's go over the incantation." For Adi to have it completely correct.
