Directly below the Great Hall is the Hogwarts kitchen, complete with five tables identical to and directly below those of the Great Hall. Numerous house elves have returned and are busily working, always working, on the castle's next meal. They're surely willing to serve you a snack though, if you ask politely enough.
OOC: Please do not RP for the House Elves! We have a lovely group of actual elves who would love to RP with you if you will please be patient.
Zoe's eyes went to the headmistress in surprise. Okay then, helping it was. She looked at James and shrugged "Finish this later then?" she asked looking apologetic. She had really enjoyed it honestly! She'd learned a little more about him, and his family. It was kind of sweet, she wasn't sure still what to think. Were they hinting around at becoming more than friends or were they just testing the waters maybe?
She moved to put her plate and things away before moving to follow the group to the library where the headmistress had said they were heading next. Merlin...she'd forgotten about the book club meeting!
Wait...what was going on? James looked around and looked at Zoe, "I...suppose..." well that was awkward. James stood up and put his things away but grabbed another piece of bread and shoved it in his mouth. Couldn't waste good garlic bread!!!
Where were they going? She hadn't said his name maybe he could just slink out of here and go back up to his common room. Or blend in and pretend to be invisible....that could work too. INVISIBLE JAMES! Should be a superhero name really. He shook his head to focus on the task at hand and frowned thoughtfully. He felt like he was missing something but...well he couldn't refuse an adventure of any sort so he shoved his hands in his pockets as he waited for the Headmistress to lead them wherever they were going. Library? He liked the library it was like his second home. Hmmm...

Taking a couple of steps forward so that he was properly in the kitchen now, he first noticed Prefect Headgirl Lex. Nope, she wasn’t a magical, giggly, glowing book. So at least that was taken care of. But… How come she wasn’t a part of the search party? Zander would’ve bet that if any students were put in charge to go look for things, Lex would have been the first. Hm. Strange. And also, where’d she get that sandwich from and where could Zander get one? Important questions. He had them.
Maybe this was why they were going to the kitchens in the first place?
And then the rest of the group slowly took turns walking through the portrait whole. First the Ravenclaw, then Angel, then….. PEEVES?! Merlin, Zander had thought they got rid of him a while back. Oh darn. The Gryffindor nodded to each one of his ‘teammates’, but just glared at Peeves again. At least the nicknames weren’t being thrown around because then things would’ve gotten weird from there on, you know? Thank merlin for Truebridge though because if Peeves listened to anyone, hopefully it was her.
And of course Lex had questions. She was probably all sorts of confused right now. Heck, even Zander was confused and he was here the whole entire time. Speaking of which, he tilted his head in confusion when she mentioned the candy bag, but as for two out of the three questions she asked… Well he could try to answer those?
“There’s a glowing book appearing around the school.... and -uh- apparently it has magical powers and stuff,” he explained slowly. “But it’s evil, so we’re trying to catch it?” Nod. What else was he missing? Erm. He’d just let Truebridge fill in the rest of the gaps. “Oh. And it giggles too! Have you heard any giggling recently?” ‘Cause you know.. That was a sign.

Cosgrach was close by! As close as to let THEM face the first threat, if there was any, and coming up as a substitute in case any Hufflepuffs died they were tired of fighting. But, once he entered the kitchens, he saw that only Annie was in danger... threatened by one Alexa Cambridge.
If circumstances hadn't been so grave, he would have laughed.
But, perhaps not to attract Peeves on himself, he simply stood by the door and waited for Alexa to answer Zander, who was asking the important questions for a change.

Then it happened. Just like that, a large chunk of her food drew immediate brakes in her throat causing her to gasp and wheeze for air as the Headmistress stormed in WEARING HER WAND AND CANDY BAG. HDKSFGUISRGFIG!!
Alexa stood there choking for maybe a solid minute before grabbing for the glass of ice tea she'd been sipping earlier to wash everything done. After that she worked on being composed. Composure was good. It kept you from saying words that would get you thrown in detention. She hadn't seen it since SEPTEMBER. All thoughts of logic were pushed aside as desperation set in. Without even the faintest thought or restraint, Lex crossed the kitchen and nicked the wand from the Headmistress' waist BECAUSE IT DID NOT BELONG THERE OKAY?? IT DIDN'T, IT REALLY DIDN'T AND IT PROBABLY MISSED HER AND MERLIN THE FEEL OF IT IN HER HANDS AGAIN WAS AMAZING.
Whoa whoa whoa whoooooaaaaaa. There was no ordering around just yet. First they had to get some business taken care of. Ahem. "The candy bag." Because she couldn't lift THAT off the Headmistress as easily...or she could but things might get a little violent so.....yeah. Bag. "And what book are we talking about? Why are we going to the library? And can I take my sandwich with me?" Things to be clarified before she joined anything. You already lost her at Library.
Whoaaaaaaaa hey, whoa whoa whoa up there yourself, Gryffindor. "Excuse you!" the Headmistress stepped back from Cambridge with a loud gasp. "Unhand me! The only reason I've been wearing this bag around is because you were crazy the last time we met and I had to confiscate it from you!"
She would NOT be returning the crazy candy girl's bag until Alexa proved that she was in her right mind! And robbing the Headmistress of a wand she'd forgotten she had on was NOT a very convincing step in the right direction.

Well, since Peeves wasn't saying anything, FOR ONCE, the Headmistress urged her group to move on with a small shooing motion. "Listen to your housemate if you want some answers, Alexa. And if you want your bag back, it will be in the library. WITH ME." She stuck her pointy little nose up in the air and marched out of the kitchens then, fully intent on leading most of the rest of the way upstairs.

Zander was explaining something about a book but Lex could hardly focus on him with the Headmistress swatting her away and going on about her being crazy and stuff. A lie, a perfect lie. The last time the Headmistress ran into her they were helping Airey from the closet and she dismissed her to take some dumb kid to the bathroom.
Of course Lex would have SAID all this but the woman was already gone--and with her candy bag!! KVDKFCGVDSKFGVKF!!!
Alexa hurried back to the counter to grab a few napkins for her massive sandwich before darting from the kitchen after them. This needed settling and someone still needed to explain this book situation to her because MERLIN, she didn't think Hogwarts took it's literacy rate so seriously.
It...wasn't that serious guys....

Was the headmistressy talking to him? He snickered and tossed the popcorn at her. As she made her threats Peeves didn't change his grin he just floated up with the bag of popcorn.
"Peeves was just trying to help find what you are looking for. If you don't want Peeve's help then fine."
He dumped the bag of popcorn on the heads that were still in the room, cackled and flew out of the kitchen.

Flicking his head from side to side he managed to get the popcorn mess onto the ground and out of his hair. Merlin. Just another reason for a haircut.
