Restricted Section The restricted section of the library is as the name implies restricted. In this roped off and locked section you will find old fragile books and tomes. Some of the texts are dark and dangerous and therefore cannot be kept where just anyone can get a hold of them. Should you need to access to this area to retrieve a book, you need to seek out the librarian; Mr Kitridge with a signed permission slip from a professor. This will allow you to obtain the book you need. |
*coughs* Alexa had struggled with the dilemma for a whole minute or two. On the one hand, she DID have permission, it was in her pocket along with a list of subjects for which she'd want to get some extra reading done but on the other hand, she might have been meant to find Mr. Kitridge and WAIT for him to take an eternity to read the Professor's writing? Naturally you could see how the first option won out so the Gryffindor let herself into the Restricted Section. If Mr. Kitridge never found her, she'd save the permission slip for another day and come back. "Stay close to me and DON'T touch anything." She whispered loudly to the kneazle she'd doubled back to her Common Room for. He'd been interested in this place too from what she could tell of the limited times he followed her into the library. Seemed only fair. As she walked she felt his fur brush against her leg, he was sticking close like she asked him to. With one less problem to worry about she began browsing the shelves. Once or twice a book snarled at her but they weren't the kind she was looking for so she kept going, further and further in the dull light--you think this place would be as lit as the main library. These books got lonely in the dark too you know. Or not. These were dark and dangerous. They probably loved it. Feeling a bit more daring, she ran a finger along the books, reading what she could of their titles as she went on. Eventually, she'd need the ladder to get to the higher shelves because no, you didn't levitate dangerous books towards yourself until you knew what they contained and more importantly what they could DO. |

When the silent alarm to the restricted section started buzzing vigorously Leo dropped the snake book with a small thud as he got up from his seat in the same motion. Pulling out his wand he hastily put up a note of where he was going unless someone needed assistance and darted towards the restricted section. Who had entered this time? Someone’s pet? An intruder? That auror from last term? The possibilities were endless as Leo headed inside the restricted section, putting off the alarm as he passed over the threshold. Hearing a voice in the distance talking Leo followed the sound with his wand at the ready. Getting further and further inside the section Leo ignored the whispers and suggestions coming from the books. It was about that time that he happened upon the intruder and their kneazle. "Alexa Cambridge, what exactly do you think you are doing in here? This section is off limits." |
Felix hissed suddenly and it had her eyes darting to him as he bolted between her legs, fur bristled, teeth bared and eyes intent on a book that looked like it might have gotten closer since she'd walked by it. Promise to Airey or no Promise, if one book in here tried making off with her kneazle, it'd be up in smokes in seconds. To avoid that, she took him out of his misery, scooping him up and giving him a scratch behind the ear to calm down. "You are bigger than that book, don't make it know you're scared of it."....Even if it WAS heavier and could possibly crush the little guy. It never occurred to her there was an alarm, not at all, it just seemed like...well like noise that ended sometime after. How was she to know how Mr. Kitridge ran his library? Wasn't like she spent a tremendous amount of time here. And then he found her. Sigh. No reusing the permission slip she supposed. Who else would she get to write her one? Collarbin maybe.....In any case she turned to face the librarian, not dampened at all by his presence. "Browsing for books. Looking for darker than you'll allow on your regular shelves and more dangerous than you'll let Firsties look at." Essentially. "I'm actually glad I ran into you, see I dunno how you categorize these and didn't wanna spend the whole day searching." Lex looked to the shelves again, noting a book that tried offering her a page from it's contents. Cool. "Like this one. What's this one about? And where can I find one about removing a ghost from a castle?" He never asked for the permission slip, maybe he'd let her stay without it and she could keep this one for later. |
Quote:
"I categorize the books after genre or subject." Leo supplied distractedly. "Why do you want to find a book on how to remove a ghost from a castle anyway? Most ghosts want to be in the place they haunt or rather live in, especially if you're thinking about the Hogwarts ghosts." Leo doubted highly that the ghosts in this castle wanted to be removed as Alexa put it. Hogwarts was their home. |

Were they over the mundane part of this meeting now? Could they get back to the main focus here? Lex opted to leave the ghost conversation where it was. When she'd mentioned it to Professor Airey, he thought it was a good idea, there was no discouragement. She'd be damned if she let Mr. Kitridge talk her out of it now. Securing Felix, she continued down the aisle again. "So...if this stuff is by subject...I'll guess alphabetical as well so DADA would be back up that way....? and Divination would be somewhere around here...yeah?" |
Exits Leo.. Quote:
She was a seventh year too which Leo considered gave her just a teeny tiny up with him. If Alexa had been a first year she would have been escorted out the door regardless if she had acquired a permission slip from a professor or not. Accepting the permission slip littered with Airey’s usual cursive and neat hand writing Leo gave it a quick scan. Satisfied he nodded to Alexa. "Yes the books are also placed in alphabetical order," pointing behind him to the shelves in the next aisle he said "Yes, Dada books are up that way and Divination is on the shelf right behind you." Shoving the permission slip into one of his many robe pockets Leo said. "I'll leave you to browsing then Alexa. Just remember to keep vigilant and wary while you're in here. Some of these books are pretty dark for lack of better word." He didn't wan't to frighten her by saying evil. Turning on his heel the librarian left the res section with a wave to head back to the front desk to resume his battle to put spells on the book about snake species in the wizarding world. |
She might have had a snippy comment were it not for a few factors; age and maturity level, the badge on her chest and the fact he had a point. If someone who didn't understand how dangerous these books could be just waltzed in here all willy nilly, she might have hexed them back out before a book could do them any worse so she simply nodded and reassured the Librarian they were the books she was intending to find. Oh brilliant! Technically Lex was exactly where she was meant to be. Just a quit search for a book or two on ghost removal then she could double back for the DADA books. "Thank you, Sir." She said at his departing--quite relieved he wouldn't be treating her like a baby that needed babysitting--"I'll be careful. Brought my wand with me just in case." And yes, books, she would use it if any of you came at her or her kneazle. Alexa whirled around so she was facing the top of the aisle again. All the Dark Arts books, some trying to rattle off their shelves and so little time, but first, Sir Nicholas. Her eyes traced the shelves til they found an eerily pale one that gave off a faint glow. Well......ghosts glowed......and this looked promising so she nicked it from the shelf then moved back to the Dark Arts section. SO MANY to choose from. Couldn't she just live here? This time she was forced to put Felix down as she spotted a massive book that screamed at her, literally. It wanted to be read and with a title like "Secrets of the Darkest Art" it would be...if only she could get it off the shelf. Lex tugged at it for what might have been a solid five minutes before it suddenly loosened, sending her and the book stumbling into the shelf opposite them with a thud. The things she did to learn. Merlin. Lex flopped to the floor and threw the book open before her then pulled Felix closer. Couldn't watch him when she was focused on curses so he'd need to stay close. |

Sitting on its shelf in the damp and dusty Restricted Section of the library, a leather bound book with golden filigree and lettering begins glowing as it senses a curious spirit approaching. Finally free after all those years of being trapped on the back of the shelf behind spellbooks on hexes and dark arts, the Fairy Tale Book of Fairy Tales wiggled itself free from its chains with an airy giggle and fell to the floor at the girl’s feet. Its inviting glow and beautiful cover are so irresistible that the book truly seems to be calling to her to pick it up. Yes, come on now, pick me up! Pick me up and see what fantastic things await! |

The sudden screeching of the feline caused her to stop scribbling mid-sentence, wondering if something else was after him. Following the gaze, she spotted a book wiggling from the space she'd just removed the one she was currently reading. How...curious...... Her brows rose at the giggling book as it descended and made a new home for itself by her feet, that was when Felix got cross. His fur bristled dramatically and the sounds he made were nothing if not violent. "Relax." Lex told him, eyeing the strange book. "It's just a bunch of fairytales." Nothing to be scared of there and there was real reading to be done so she turned to her own book again. Felix wasn't nearly as convinced and continued his hissing til she was forced to look at the book again. It...had a weird glow to it, didn't it? Lex tilted her head curiously and regarded the odd piece of literature. It was almost...like it....was calling her...--but that was ridiculous. She wasn't here long enough for the books to know her name. Still....Lex reached a hand toward the book which Felix swatted at with extracted claws. The Gryffindor drew her wand. "So help me, I will use this." It calmed him enough for her to pull the book to her and flop it on her lap. "There, see? Just a book on princesses and knights in shining armour. Ridiculous but hardly dangerous." She pried it open, idly wondering if there were pictures. Pictures made everything better. |

Hard as she tried though, she couldn't let the book go. A tingling held her arms fixed on the book and soon she felt she wasn't the one turning the pages anymore. Shouts came from inside the book, loud, anxious voices that increased her doubt but even then she couldn't get her hands off the book. She tried calling for Mr. Kitridge but a face appeared in the book and it was like it took her voices. A cunning smile, dark eyes and then nothing. The lights were gone, the book slammed shut and the Gryffindor felt herself rising....but she didn't remember moving? One step after the other took her back toward the exit but it was like a dream. Lex was moving but she didn't know how. Another hissing got her to turn but even then that wasn't her. Somehow she managed to reach her own hand toward him but he simply growled then bolted. What in Merlin's beard was going on???? |
Reappearing back in familiar haunts, the book landed on the floor just inside the roped off section with its locks shut tight. As the book touched the ground, it opened its leather bindings and flipped its pages until it stopped on a particular fairytale story. Sensing curious humans spirits chattering nearby, it began to glow brightly as the strong smell of freshly baked buns started to float out of it. The smell was so strong that it easily found its way to where the many humans were congregating... |

Zoe headed in the direction of where the smells were increasingly getting stronger. She was basically following everyone else, after Leo eyed her and James. Her eyes fell on a book that was laying on the floor with it's pages open to.... She moved closer, even despite Mr. Kitridge staying back a little and squatted down making out the words "Hansel and Gretel?" she asked curiously. The fairy tale sounded familiar but she couldn't exactly place it "Headmistress?" she asked looking around. She wasn't super close to the book and was just barely able to read the words, but she was sure it said 'Hansel and Gretel'. She wasn't trying to be overly brave, just was curious what the book had chosen to fall open to! |
So Leobald had chosen to look in the restricted section with his group of staff members. This made sense, since students weren't allowed back here much. Actually, she had never ventured back here as a student, and now not even as a staff member. The closer she got, the more she could make out a glowing spot. Plus the smell become almost unbearably delectable. "Leobald, I think it's here. The book." She pointed towards the bright spot. "You can just make out a darker spot..." Tillstorm of course thought she could read it from this far away. "Miss Tillstorm, stop! We don't want you getting possessed. We don't know exactly how it operates, remember." She held her arm up in front of the girl, restraining her in case she got any ideas. "Headmistress, Professor Botros, I think you'd better finish quickly." |
Humming the theme from the muggle cereal commercial, Airey followed the crowd in and his face immediately dropped. "Heeeeeey, there are precisely zero baked delights in here!" he manly huffed while looking at the others. Who were all looking at something else? What? Following gazes, and his nose a bit more, his forget-me-not blue eyes fell on the book and he suddenly felt a pull. Despite what he had heard over the past month or so about what had happened with him as Hook, he was overtaken by a giddy feeling when he saw the book. Open. Just waiting RIGHT there. He had felt this on the seventh floor as well, but the book had been spooked and vanished before he could get his eager hands on it. His head snapped around when Tiara spoke and shuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuushed her, index finger to his lips and all. "Don't scare it," he whimpered. Slowly, the Astronomy professor began taking steps towards the book while his fingers twitched in eager anticipation. |
Having gotten the Restricted Section right after Airey, the news of there being no food reached her through his dismayed complaint. What did he mean there was no food??? SHE FORCED DOWN A SANDWICH IN PREPARATION FOR THIS. "Aw man, what a rip off. Let's go check somewhere else." It had to be around her somewhere, nevermind that the smell was coming from the one place there seemed to be no food. It didn't really strike her as important that Professor Tanner was calling the Headmistress...until Professor Airey shushed her the way he did...What? That's when she finally peered into the aisle of the Restricted Section that they were all looking down. The glow.... That glow... Wait a minute....where was that really happy feeling coming from? Lex already knew how she felt about the book but this was different...enchanting almost. She had no intention of being the Mistress of All Evil again, but the feeling the book brought on was such a nice one that her steps followed her Head of House's closer and closer. "Just one more read wouldn't hurt...while it's here and all." The dazed tone of the Gryffindor said enough. They were no longer her priority, the book was. |
She looked at the professor a little stunned. She wasn't going to touch it! Nor get any closer she was just curious what the page was open to. Ohhhhkay, her eyes now focused on Professor Airey and the head girl. Right, something was definitely not right here. Someone was going to stop them right? She was obeying the arithmancy professor and staying where she was, but those two looked like they were going to go right on over and take a look themselves! "Professor?" she asked wide eyed staring at the other two. It must definitely have something to do with the story that it was open to....right? Or was that just to lure them there? |
Yep, Professor Airey was right. No baked goods. What a let down. But there was a weird glowing....... "The book!" Right there, laying open. Attracting Professor Airey and the Head Girl. Should she do something? Tap them on the shoulders? Definitely something that wouldn't scare the book away, because that would suck after all this searching. Grr. Stupid fairy tale book.... ..attracting people with the promise of goodies when there are none." Oops, had she said that out loud? |
Zander was following along right by Flamsteed, Headgirl Lex, and the Ravenclaw prefect. As he approached the yummmy smell, he could feel his mouth starting to water and his stomach doing the grumbling thing again. Mhhhhmmm if he could just have one. Just one of those yummy-- Wait. Professor Flamsteed say what??? No baked goods??? Slowly, he stepped closer to the two he had walked over with, inching his way towards whatever was suddenly mesmerizing them. Was it just him or did this place have a familiar glow about-- Oooooh. Zander quickly found himself putting his own book back in his bag. He tilted his head to the side as he began taking steps forward just like Professor Flamsteed and the Headgirl. He was having an internal conflict of sorts at the moment. His head was telling him to resist the temptation of the smell and the enticing book, but he couldn't help but gravitate. |
Jasmine entered the Restricted Section with her group. Her curiosity was piqued and she wanted to look around at all the forbidden area contained. However, there were more pressing matters to attend to right now. Catching up with the first group, Jasmine saw that they were all focused on something. Then she saw it.......the glowing. Was that the elusive fairy tale book? Jasmine just stared, unsure what to do . Wait, what was up with Professor Flamsteed and Lex? They were both heading toward the book. "What are you doing? Don't go near that book." They had to be stopped or this was not going to end well. Were the formerly possessed still somehow connected to the book? Jasmine didn't know whether to grab them or not, but they had to do something quickly. |
Penelope could smell freshly baked buns. She had no idea why anyone would be baking in the library, as Mr. Kitridge seemed to think, but it smelled really good, so she followed the rest of the crowd searching for the source of the smell. Arriving at the restricted section, she found that the smell did not seem to lead to real baked goods, but that was okay. She enjoyed the smell more than eating anyway. "Mmm, smels good." It seemed that the smell was coming from the book. Books were good. A book that smelled like freshly baked goods! Could this get any better? Somewhere in the back of her mind she was aware that the book was dangerous and it was trying to lure her in with the smell, but the logical part of her mind was overpowered by the alluring smell of the book. Sniffing the air, she stepped closer to the book. |
So THAT'S where the smell was coming from… Zhenya glanced at the book. It was lovely, but she wasn't going to touch it. In fact, she put her hands in her pockets to stop her from reaching out towards it. Oh, but it smelled good! She couldn't even go up and get a good look of the book to see if it was open to a page or something. Maybe it was a recipe for delicious goodies? She could only hope… |
Just so everyone was aware....this was all very reminiscent of Hansel and Gretel. Luring kids in with candy and sweets...or baked cinnamon treats, in this case. And adults seemed to be just as susceptible... The smell was rather enticing but.....fortunately for Gabe, it didn't smell even remotely pumpkin flavored. And as a rule, Gabe only enjoyed pumpkin treats. So...the FAIRY TALE BOOK hunt continued. No need to stop and have a snack...and...waste time. This was a good opportunity.....TRUTHFULLY, IN THE RESTRICTED SECTION...he'd been wanting to get his hands on these books for months now...but never had good enough cause to ask for permission. The wealth of protected knowledge in this area of the library, though...Gabriel would've loved to have been able to just sit, absorb as much as possible.... BUT......wait........was that THE book?....In it's defense, it did look very antique and very interesting. Gabe, who loved his languages, had to wonder if it was solely in old English....but why were people creeping towards it as they were?! Hadn't there been a plan? just in case? "................." Gabriel wasn't ensnared by its delicious-but-NOT!PUMPKIN smell....but nor was he brave enough to get any closer. In fact...he inched towards Professor Tanner. She was familiar, though a girl...and she looked just as serious as the Headmistress woman. They'd protect him. Wait...were they doing a runic charm... IT'S ABOUT TO GET THE GRYFFINDORS.... |
First it was just him and the glowing brightness up ahead and then in what felt like a flash Tiara and Airey showed up with a swarm of student's in tow. And everyone seemed disappointed that it was the book and not an actual baker. As several students along with Airey started to move towards the book Leo put up a hand to stop them as he moved to stand in front of them. "Let's not get too close to the book. We don't want anyone else to get messed with or hurt. And let's try not to scare it into vanishing when we can finally see it." Eyes trailing over the student’s to land on Penelope in his own house he said "Quick Penelope, go fetch Headmistress Truebridge and Professor Botros in the book club meeting area and tell them that we've found the book." It was entirely possible that they hadn't heard Tiara call out to them. Leo wasn’t sure how much time Abraham needed to get his runes working. But hopefully it wouldn’t take that long. |
Caleb was rubbish at runes, so he decided to follow the group looking for the baked goods. NOW he could smell them, even through his stuffy nose. A snack couldn't hurt, right? He followed the group, and it seemed that they had found the source of the baked goods in the restricted section. Huh. That was weird - had a recipe book started emitting smells or something? Weird. As he got closer, however...he noticed the fairy tale book. It was definitely the source of the smell, and boy did that smell GOOOOOOOD. MMMMMM. Was that...gingerbread he was smelling? Hmmm, wouldn't it be fun to just read it one more time? Just to see if there were REALLY baked goods in there.... He took a step closer to the book. He was still pretty far away, not wanting to scare the book away. He could hear a few people shouting to not get closer, but what harm could it do? Really? |
So Penelope was off to fetch Anastasia and Abraham, but Alexa and Airey were heading right for the thing. "Cambridge, get back here this instant." She could tell the girl what to do, but Flamsteed was another story altogether. Nothing could control him, and certainly not her. "Mr. Banner, stick close," she said, seeing him sidle towards her. Where were the Headmistress and Professor Botros, and was that runic ward finished yet? |
"I'm here! I'm..." ohhhhhh she saw the book now and drastically dropped her volume, "...here." Hmm. It was that glowing thing that was seemingly drawing Flamsteed and Cambridge in.... Come to think of it, that bun-baking smell seemed to be quite fetching for coming from a book. "Now what?" the Headmistress whispered to Leo and Tiara, unable to take her eyes off that pretty book at the moment. It was just so....so....shiny! |
Quote:
As Headmistress Truebridge arrived to their little gathering of both student's and staffers around, Leo whispered back. "I guess, we need to corner the book and then catch it. Anyone got any suggestions how we do that? Is Professor Botros on his way with his runic table?" |
What Mr. Kitridge was saying made sense, hence why Heather had whispering as much as possible. But what was worrying was Professor Airey and Alexa's reactions to the book. She was on the verge of doing something so completely Gryffindor and throwing herself on the damn thing just to keep something bad from happening. But, that probably wouldn't be at all helpful right now. Besides the Headmistress was here, so she'd probably know what to do. Or not. But it seemed Mr. Kitridge did. Sneak up on it and corner it. Okay. "Maybe we should all take our shoes off so that the book doesn’t hear them on the stones and spook....?" she suggested in a hushed tone. Sure, the smell might end up being not very pleasant, but it was the best she could come up with. On the bright side, at least Professor Walton wasn't here to make her feel stupid if that wasn't a good idea. It's the small things, people. |
The familiar feeling of enchantment grew stronger with each step she took toward the book. Suddenly, she was remembering just how happy that feeling was way back after she'd read the book. It didn't seem so bad now, reading it and all and the Head Girl took hardly any notice of the others who'd opted to follow her and Professor Airey. They would be happier if they did, she knew that much so it wasn't really an issue. Professor Tanner's command hardly registered as the book seemed to get louder and the Gryffindor kept on stepping, seemingly in a trance. Contrary to what the Librarian kept stressing, the book wanted to be read. It wouldn't leave before taking her on another amazing adventure somewhere off in an enchanted place. The book was here to...help. Alexa paid no heed to the warning words of her fellow students, much too fixed on the book to be fussed with anything else. It was almost hers--unless Airey beat her to it. |
SPOILER!!: Professors! Nope, Gabriel wasn't going to do anything stupid OR brave. He was going to stay right where he was....and watch one of his favorite professors get sucked up by an ancient text with a girly pink ribbon. Apparently. Bleak. "Sir...." He was glancing at his Head of House, stage whispering...and then professor Tanner. It was directed towards everyone, actually. "Do.....do you think a....um, bubble head charm would help?" To cut the sense of smell? Would that knock them out of this....trance? If it could be called a trance.... If they couldn't smell the treats, the treats would have no power over them.... |
Nessa hurried towards the restricted section, following Annie after Penelope had let them know that the book had been sighted. And indeed it had. She let out a little gasp as brown eyes soon found it close by. Was tat really the book? The source of all the problems and the one that had been taunting them on the second floor? Nessa stared at the beautiful, antique bindings, unable to take her eyes off of it. Nearby she was vaguely aware of the voices of Anastasia and Leo. Were they talking about it? "Do you think.." she started quietly as she inched closer to them, still staring at the book. "That an immobilizing charm would freeze its magic long enough for us to trap it?" It might be a long shot, but she wasn't exactly an expert in fighting dark magic or cursed objects. And she still couldn't stop staring at that book. It was just so... fascinating. |
Penelope had come back to the restricted section with Headmistress Truebridge and Professor Glendower. Was Professor Flamsteed closer to the book than he had been when she went to get the Headmistress? No one was going to stop him? The runes thing had better be ready soon. Professor Glendower had the idea of immobilizing the book. "I don't know if immobilizing it will work, but if we don't catch the book soon, it might get Professor Flamsteed." It would not be good if Flamsteed was possessed by the book. Again. |
The astronomer had to agree with Miss Cambridge. Just one more read couldn't possibly do that much damage. Just look at how shiny and aesthetically pleasing the book was! And they clearly were not alone in their way of thinking as Mr. Adair, Miss Wright, and Mr. Newell were heading towards the book as well and threw each of them a small grin. "Shhhhhhh..." he whispered to Miss Guidry. She just didn't know yet...but she SHOULD know. Which was why he beckoned for the Ravenclaw prefect to follow him and the others. Turning around, the astronomer nearly crashed right into Leobald who had moved to stand in front of him. An eaaaaaaasy obstacle to get around. Grinning from ear to ear, Airey simply side stepped his way around the librarian, offering the man a salute, and then kept on going. Honestly, what WAS all the fuss about. He had every intention of reading the book...which was what all books wanted, yes? To be read! He was only somewhat aware that more people were entering the Restricted Section - and even less whatever it was Leobald was muttering to him - and thus his attention was still on the book...as were his wiggly fingers. |
As more people joined the party, Jasmine became increasingly concerned about those among them who seemed unable to resist the books lure. They were getting closer, yet no one was trying to stop them. And then Professor Flamsteed shushed her. "But Professor", Jasmine whispered back. "The book can't be trusted. It only wants to possess you again." Thankfully, Mr. Kitridge made a move to stop him, but Professor Flamsteed simply went around him. This was bad. Jasmine hoped those runes would be ready soon because otherwise, they might be down one Astronomy Professor and one Head Girl. Either that or she would be expelled for stunning them both. Turning to the leaders, Jasmine asked, "Should we send for Professor Romanos". Was there even time for that? |
They appeared in the restricted section with the runic ring with them, Botros was holding tight to one of the table's edges, and he caaaaarefully put it down along with everyone else who were helping him. He took a quick look at the runes, "It's still intact. We need to put the book inside the ring!" He urged the others, spotting the glowing thing and... |
Cassie helped bring the table to the restricted section and her focus moved to Leo as she saw him and the others and then back to Abe as she set down her end of the table gently. "We don't want it fully disappearing though, so we need to be careful whatever we do." She wasn't sure they would actually be able to grab it and just set it down, plus she was worried someone else would be possessed by it's magic. Looking around closer it seemed some were in a trance towards the book. She leaned closer to Abe, "We might want to work fast, whatever we are going to do." Airey seemed too close to it. Pulling out her wand again she was ready to do the runic chant or well try to. What was the words again? |
Here he was, ready to fight... ...whoever hurt this book! Entranced yet again, he glared at anyone disturbing the scene. The Book was too pretty, too shiny, too... he reached out as he took small steps towards it. He had to read it... but what if he forgot who he was again?.. but that was silly, The Book was here to help. Small steps... and it would be in his hands again, at last. |
The first thing Lux did as she entered the Restricted Section was make sure to look at the PEOPLE in the room, not the dang BOOK. She knew that the enchantments it held could overpower her again if she let them. Fortunately the Runic Ward was intact so they could get to business. Out of the corner of her eye, Lux spotted Professor Culloden inching forward with a strange look on his face. "Professor, don't look at the book! Nobody should look at the book!" That was how it possessed people; by drawing them in. |
Good, Professor Botros was here with the runic table thing. They needed to catch this book and get it in the ring before it got Flamsteed. How were they going to get the book? The book was drawing people in with its shiny glow and the baking smell. What if it possessed someone before they caught the book? Why were there so many people in the restricted section anyway? There were very good reasons for the restricted section being, well, restricted. Some of the books in here were dangerous, and the fairy tale book was just one of the many books in here. What if there were other books in here plotting to attack them while they were distracted by the fairy tale book? What if more books escaped from the restricted section. "Shouldn't we be watching out for the other books in the restricted section? Is it safe for everyone to be in here?" It really didn't take this many people to catch one book, did it? Because there were other dangerous books in the restricted section, wouldn't it be safer if most of the people in here waited outside? If the book came from the restricted section in the first place, was it necessary to catch it? |
O_______O Zander was beyond confused. On one hand, he knew he shouldn't be migrating towards the book. But on the other, it was so intriguing. What if they were wrong about the book? How could something so mystical looking be harmful? So Zander' just followed along with whatever Professor Flamsteed was doing. He was the one that had pulled Zander over. He had to know what to do. And that grin. Flamsteed was grinning. He was right to, the book was beautiful. So Zander just followed along a few steps behind the Astronomy Professor, eyes still on the book. |
Angel had followed the Professor into the restricted section... were they all supposed to be in here without a pass? or didn't the headmistress mind for once? Angel looked around to make sure Adi and Ben was okay and they seemed to be now though she was ready for whatever the Professors wanted her to do, she just wanted to get rid of this book if she could... it had affected her friends and she didn't like that. |
That's it, Cosgrach was going to touch it. Just once. He still remembered what happened when he'd last done that, but he was more in control this time... The Book wasn't even EVIL, anyway. He was sure Abraham only wanted to put it on the table to study it. Yes! If he put it on the table, everyone could read and appreciate it. But HE wanted to be the FIRST, so he took loooong strides and firmly grabbed it. Then, without wasting any moment, he placed it inside the ring for EVERYONE to feel its warmth. He was totally keeping his position, though. He wanted to be the closest to it, and the first one to read, then find whoever enchanted them to believe The Book was evil. |

When it was lifted up it, the book started to weave its enchanting magic around the professor human. It got very cross and disgruntled when it wasn't opened and read right away. This was not how it was supposed to be. Its irritation growing as it was placed on a table, the book started to flip the pages in rapid succession, the intensity of its glow and enchanting magic getting stronger and stronger until it started to spit out a swarm of feisty pixies. As the pixies flew out of the book’s pages they immediately attacked the professor human with bites and claws aiming for the humans face and hands. |
Casting Immobulus at pixies SPOILER!!: Professor Culloden What was Professor Culloden doing? That book was DANGEROUS. He needed to stay away from it. Actually, she should probably move away from the book. You never knew what a dangerous book like this one might do. SPOILER!!: Fairy Tale Book Professor Culloden was being ATTACKED by pixies! They needed to do something about it and they needed to do it now. She couldn't run, not this time. There were too many people here who were being lured in by the book. Running away wouldn't help them, and it certainly wouldn't help Professor Culloden. Immobilizing the book might not work, but the pixies could be immobilized. Penelope slipped her wand from its holster. Gripping it tightly, she pointed her wand at the pixies that were attacking Professor Culloden. The pixies were so close to the professor that it would be easy to miss the pixies and hit the professor. She had to try. After mentally reviewing the wand movement, she was ready to cast the spell. "Immobulus!" |
Why wasn't he listening to her? Lux supposed that the enchantments of the book were too strong for Culloden; why he had been possessed in the past along with some of his colleagues. Not knowing what to do, she watched him grab a hold of the book...but instead of reading it like she expected him to, he placed it in the Runic ring they had prepared. Relieved, she let out a happy sigh before noticing the pixies ATTACKING the man. Something needed to be done, so she joined the Ravenclaw girl (Penelope) in immobilizing them. "We need something to place them in before they start attacking again!' This spell only impeded them for a short amount time. |
Benny had moved with Botros closer and closer to the restricted section until they were apparently close enough to where they needed to be. The professor moving to put the table down so the Gryffindor did too so the table didn't shift or tilt and nothing needed was disturbed. He was about to ask now what when talk of getting the book into the circle was mentioned. Okay so anyone else could do that...HE wasn't touching it. But Professor Culloden was! He opened his mouth to call the man back but others beat him to it. And then he registered someone had to do it. Might as well be a professor who had already been near it at least once. At least the man had placed the book in the ring like they needed it to be. But it soon became apparent getting enchanted by the fairy tale book wasn't the only thing they had to worry about. A swarm of blue creatures coming from it and attacking the older man. Benny retrieved his wand from his pocket just as a young Ravenclaw cast the spell he was thinking of. "Immobulus," he echoed the girl and Lex, hoping between them they could get the troublesome creatures to behave and get away from the professor. And the rest of them for that matter. |
Jasmine was worried about Professor Flamsteed being re-possessed by the book. She wasn't expecting what happened next. When Professor Culloden grabbed the book everything went crrrraaazy. At least he had placed it inside the ring, but.......... "Oh no, not again", Jasmine thought. "This can't be happening." First the chorts and now the evil book had set loose a swarm of pixies. They were attacking Professor Culloden and who knew who they'd be after next. Thank goodness Penelope and Lux had their wits about them and were trying to freeze the pixies. Quickly taking out her wand, Jasmine aimed carefully and began firing spells. "Immobulus, Immobulus, Immobulus." Jasmine tried to stop the pixies from inflicting any serious damage. At the same time, she tried not to interfere with those trying to take down the book. |
Angel was totally lost now. "Eh would a bag work?" Angel wasn't sure but it was worth asking... because she couldn't figure out what else they had that they could use. "Immobulus!!" Angel was glad she had brought her wand because well she was going to need it. "Immobulus" Angel was doing the wand movement at the same time aiming for the pixies, she really hoped that they could get the pixie to stop attacking because that just wasn't nice. |
Following as she was told, Beverly focused her attention on the runes and then helping with taking the table toward the Restricted Section. This, she did not see as an opportunity to capture the book, at the realization that this was the Restricted Sections, she maybe could get a sneak peek at some books. But the smell... ...cookies. It was all too tempting, and so was getting her hands on the book. She had just about walked closer toward front of the group when... O________________O HOLY MOTHER OF DRAGONS. PIXIES. A SWARM of them. And there was one tugging on HER hair. Beverly Juniper Wayne OFFICIALLY despised pixies. Away with them! Wincing and scowling and cursing under her breath, the Prefect threw her wand out, shooting at the pixie ASSAULTING her. "Immobulus!" |
Apparently, Culloden getting attacked helped? SPOILER!!: This! .......Despite this little Ravenclaw girl actually being a girl, Gabe turned to give her a curious look. It was a good question... "I think....um, people are too focused on the smells." Helpful Banner is helpful.....and those who weren't focused on the smells were too horrified by the sight of their professors and classmates acting like the walking dead. So, there was that, too. SPOILER!!: This! There was suddenly quite A LOT going on.....all at once! Pixies were materializing out of the fairy tale book.....AND ATTACKING CULLODEN....and the little Ravenclaw girl he'd just been speaking to was casting against them. Gabriel looked at the much smaller girl in horror. A Second Year GIRL was protecting his FAVORITE professor..... Wow. What had his anxiety reduced him to.....? Gabe glanced at Penelope....and then to the others that had just joined in with the Freezing spell. It wasn't awful to protect people you cared about...and it shouldn't have been so stressful to raise his wand and cast when so many others had zero issues....and this wasn't just Culloden....Flamsteed was also under the book's power. Both favorites. Both so crucial to the progress he'd been making. "I-immobulus...." He was trembling...and couldn't help it. The spell was repeatedly stuttered...as fear clutched Gabriel's throat. "Im-Immobulus....Immobulus!" Finally....It was okay. His Head of House was there and others that would....keep them safe. That was okay. THIS was okay. "Immobulus!" |
So they had brought the table and she looked towards Airey and Cosgrach worried as they seemed to be drawn closer and closer to the book. Gasping as Cossy took hold of it. "What in Merlin's beard." Did it just send pixies at them? She ducked as a few came closer to her. Watching the students starting to work together to stop the pixies. "Good Job everyone. Keep stunning them. Professor Culloden are you alright?" She raised her wand joining the group to stop the pixies from attacking him any further. |
SPOILER!!: Gabe Oh good, other people had joined he in immobilizing the pixies. Someone as speaking to her. It was that older Ravenclaw boy, Gabriel. Too focused on the smell... They needed another powerful smell to distract those who were being lured in by the book. "The smell, we need a way to distract them from the smell." If anyone carried around stuff with a strong smell, it would be Professor Culloden. She wasn't sure if he actually carried that around with him, but either way, Professor Culloden was currently being attacked by pixies. Professor Culloden wouldn't be much help while he was being attacked. "Immobulus! Immobulus!" Penelope fired another round of spells at the pixies, hoping that the spells immobilized the pixies and not Professor Culloden. Penelope was mentally forming a plan. First, deal with the pixies. Second, or even better, while the pixies were being dealt with, stop Professor Flamsteed and the rest of the people heading for the book. Waving something with a strong smell in front of the astronomy professor's nose Third, get everyone who didn't need to be here out of the restricted section. Even after catching the fairy tale book, there would still be the threat of all of the dangerous books in the restricted section. It would be a shame if the Hufflepuffs, or any other people were harmed by books in the restricted section. |
REALLY!!!! That's all it took to end the book?! Placing it in a ring of Runes?! Why didn't anyone think of that before? And now they were being attacked by pixies. Sigh. "Immobulus!" she cried, aiming at the nearest one. Which just happened to be tugging on her shoelaces, trying to tie her shoes together. Stupid creatures. Exactly why she wasn't the biggest fan of Care of Magical Creatures class. All about protecting things like this. "Immobulus!" "Does anyone have a box or jar or something?" You know, to put the frozen ones in so they didn't attack again. |
... whoa! |
+ Everyone Quote:
Quote:
Glancing around at the students who were casting Immobulus as fast as they could Leo echoed. "Keep going! Don't let the pixies get too close to attack!" Trying to move towards Cossy he shouted to his friend over the sounds of running feet, spells and pixies. "Professor Culloden, are you all right?" |
Angel was doing her best, she didn't want to let any of the Professors down. "Immobulus!" Angel was going to get one of these pixies. "Immobulus!" Angel was shooting the spell straight at the pixies, she still didn't like how they were attacking the Professor... when he wasn't harming them at all... he was just doing his job. |
Was the Potions man okay? O_O But everyone was asking him that so Adi figured Culloden would be taken care of. Time to get back with helping to fight off pixies, yeah? Uh...that was kind of difficult given that one was currently tugging on his hair. REALLY HARD. "Ouch! You get off!'' Adi waved his hand at the pixie but of course it was no use. Time to use magic maybe? "Immobulus!'' More tugging. "Immobulus!'' Aha! Nothing now. That meant his hair was free. "Immobulus! Immobulus!" Pesky pixies. |
Quote:
Amid the Pixie battle, Botros heard Leo call for him. "Beats me! My runes just bind the book to this place so it doesn't disappear!" Maybe try a bunch of spells at the book while everyone else fended off those pixies? Ab focused on the book and started attacking it with a bunch of spells starting with Finite Incantatem. |
It didn't take long until one of them was getting attacked by a swarm of pixies and as Kevin stood next to Dumbo aka Adi , he saw that the person attacked was Culloden. A laugh escaped his mouth but he was pretty sure that no one would be paying attention to him. Because what? it WAS funny! ...wasn't it? he thought it was... But he already knew that his sense of humor was different than anyone elses. Mweh. He didn't have much time to laugh though as the pixies started to fly his way as well. At first, he saw them grab Adi's hair but before he could raise his wand to help out he too got pulled on his right ear. "oww oww oww!" he shrieked, trying to swat away the pixie with his free hand. "Immobulus!" he shouted after effectively shaking the pixie off and hitting it with the spell. "ISN'T THERE A SPELL THAT CLOSES BOOKS OR SOMETHING?!" or someone grab it with their hands ...take one for the team , be a hero , or whatever. |
Jordan was just senselessly roaming the halls when he realized he could do something around the castle. Although he didn't have a huge interest in books, The Book Club needed help in gathering up all these different kinds of books. So instead of sitting on his bottom, and doing homework, he decided to go help them out. He had heard from a few of the Gryffindors in the Common Room that they were headed to the Restricted Section of the library along with the professors of course. A bunch of students couldn't just go to the restricted section of the library, that would be absurd. But nonetheless, it was an opportunity for students to temporarily break some of the rules. As Jordan entered the Restricted Section, he noticed that there were very loud noises and sounds, this would typically be unusual at most libraries, however this is Hogwarts, far from ordinary. Growing curious of the annoying sounds he thought it good to follow the sounds and pinpoint where the sound was coming from. Once he realized and found the source of the strange sounds, he had wished he hadn't come. "Oh lord, pixies? Really?" From what it looked like, these Blue looking, skinny, weird-looking and small creatures came from a book! Yes, A BOOK! That in and of itself was a bit weird and scary to Jordan. In defense Jordan whipped out his seven inch wand with Strong Mahogany Wood in case he had to defend himself and get some of the pixies out of his face. He had remembered learning about the different spells you could use against small creatures and especially pixies, but he couldn't remember any of the spells to save his life. He had hoped other students would demonstrate some of the spells to use that way he could follow suit. |
SPOILER!!: This! "Professor Botros has it bound in the runes now." Professor Culloden had placed it on the table...not knowing what he was doing...but helping, nonetheless. Was he okay?! Gabriel needed him to be okay... SPOILER!!: These two! . . . ......and he cringed at the loud noises. "Couldn't we actually freeze the book....with, uh, Glacius? To caulk it in ice?" If it was blocked, it couldn't produce anymore of these gnarly pixies...right? And even if it only staunched the flow of pixies streaming out, it'd still give said pixies no place to retreat to. A momentary fix...until Professor Romanos could show up. This antique text was considered Dark Magic, right?.....and she was the expert. "Immobulus..." Now that Gabe wasn't stuttering, the spell was coming much easier.....but he was still on the verge of having a fit. He didn't like creatures as it was and these pixies were especially ill tempered.... "Couldn't....runes?...bind it? As in....sealing the...book up?"...His arms were starting to hurt with these spells. |
The book was fuming now. It was still not being read by anyone. This was not okay. It was beyond being disgruntled now it was getting angry. Didn’t the humans get it? Wriggling on top of the table it started to flip its pages again. Stopping on another story it let out an airy giggle as it sent out a dozen magical carpets to attack the stupid humans. Zooming fast close to the floor a carpet swept up a boy in a black and yellow school uniform off his feet (FearlessLeader19) and taking him on a ride upside down around the ceiling. Another carpet attacked a dark skinned boy (HarryPotterQuidditch) that had just arrived to the section giving him a slap over the head before it knocked him over. A third carpet sneaked up by behind two boys one in red robes (DuckyLinJi) shouting something about spells and another in blue robes (Govoni) that was joining in the spell guessing. Engulfing the two in a hug the carpet literally lifted them up into the air and within seconds they were dangling with their feet's in mid air over the big table. The remaining carpets kept flying seeking targets to attack. |
"I dunno about freezing the book,'' Adi shouted back to Gabe as he directed his attention between Gabe and the pixies. "But I think Professor Botros has a plan to do something concerning runes." What, what, WHAT? O_O One moment he was being attacked by a vicious pixie and fighting it of while having a quick conversation with Gabe and the next moment Adi found himself UP IN THE AIR. UPSIDE DOWN, TOO! O__O What the...where had this carpet suddenly appear from? Aladdin and his magic carpet briefly flashed in his mind. "How fitting,'' he had time to think to himself before clutching at the carpet again. Oh gosh! If the carpet decided to set him right side up, this Hufflepuff would have his head smashed into the ceiling for sure. Ahhhhh! How was he going to get down from this thing? He had a second or two to notice Gabe and Kevin being dangled in mid air before he squeezed his eyes shut for fear of being sent smack into a wall. It was attack of the rogue carpets! |
Trying to save the bestie Okay so it was caught or not by the runes keeping it to the table. And people kept talking about what to do with both the pixies and the book as it was caught for the moment but not likely to remain that way. Couldn't the uneffected staff have some experience in the matter and think of something. "Maybe we need Professor Romanos," he suggested. Surely the DADA professor had the type of knowledge that might assist. The book could be dark after all. But it seemed not to have to be moving to do harm. First the pixies that were quickly being immobulized by himself and other students. But that was only the first salvo and before Benny could notice that the pages had flipped around even more to another part of the book, there were more items appearing. These were far bigger than pixies yet as things progressed were just as troublesome. Flying carpets! And one had snagged Adi up to hang by the ceiling! Benny's wand had already been out for the pixies but he had to help his best friend. Or any of the captives for that matter. But how without causing them to fall and risk getting seriously hurt? "Immobulus!" he finally cast at the flying carpet holding Adi feeling at least it would stop moving so he could work on getting the Hufflepuff down. |
Text Cut: You lot Cosgrach was ready to read it... He SHRIEKED and SHRIEKED as pixies tried to MURDER him. He couldn't even fight back, didn't even KNOW which spell to cast, how to do it... all he could do was to yell "GET'EM OFF MEEEEEEE!" while trying to protect his face. These things were BRUTAL too, and it took all his will not to go hysterics. People were immobilising them, though, and he OWED them his LIFE. Finally, after a short while that felt life-long, the pixies were off him. He just collapsed to th ground, still holding his face, and panted. "Why don't we just BURN it!?" he asked in response to Cassie and Leo. THAT was how he felt! Finally, he removed his hands from his face. It was thankfully undamaged, but his hands needed a healing potion... Quote:
Drawing his wand, he yelled "DIFFINDO!" to save Gabriel and Kevin and "Aresto Momentum!" at Adi in case he fell. "Howdoweevenstopthese?!" he yelled again. Yes, he was still on the ground, because these things were FLYING and he wanted to make himself as small as possible. |
Angel was upset when Adi went up in the air. "HEY LEAVE MY BRO ALONE!!!! Angel shouted at the stuff... she was really annoyed with the stuff and she hoped that everything would be cool and Adi wouldn't be heart at all. "Immobulus!" Angel aimed her wand and hoped that everything would be okay. "Immobulus!" Angel wanted Adi back now. |
people. and things. and people. :| NOOOOO! THE BOOK WAS..... Oh wait. It was just moving to the table and.... "SWEET SOLSTICE!" Not wanting to deal AT ALL with the pixies that were zooming out of the book - creatures were not his thing - the astronomer dove off to the side and attempted to army crawl around one of the shelves to Overhearing Mr. Hirase shout out something about a spell and then Professor Botros saying something about runes and ---- HOLY BLAZING COMETS! Face planting into the floor as one of the carpets went zooming over his head, the astronomer heard a soft crack as cartilage combined with the floor. Eyes watering - because that did tend to happen when one smacked their nose against something hard like that - he pushed himself up off the ground and rubbed his nose several times before trying to make his way back towards the center of all the chaos. On second thought....army crawling seemed like a MUCH better idea. Back on the floor again with his wand clutched in one hand, Airey wiggled his way back, shooting off stunning spells towards flying carpets when he had a clear enough shot. AND FOR THE LOVE OF MERLIN NO BURNING THE BOOK! "I don't suppose anyone has been able to try and cast Colloportus or something of that nature on the book?!" he shouted while rolling to the side and slamming into one of the bookshelves to avoid one of the on coming carpets. Had anyone cast any spells or enchantments at it, save for this runic...whatever it was...that Professor Botros had set up? Maybe he could ATTEMPT if he could crawl a little closer.... Also...Cosgrach? Ears still ringing over here from that shriek. Sweet solstice. |
Quote:
But then she saw what he was doing: there was another attack by that infernal book. She shot a Cushioning Charm underneath Adi. Just in case. "Good idea, Flamsteed!" she shouted across the room. "Colloportus, whoever is nearest!" She pointed her wand and let one loose herself, but it ricocheted harmlessly off of a chair in between. "I don't have a clear shot. Cosgrach, I'm going nearer. Handle yourself!" Taking a page out of Airey's book, she crawled across the room toward the madness. |
Alexa had only been aware of the sudden enchanting feel of the book and might have continued on that path until all the chaos erupted, snapping her back to her senses in time to see pixies flying, spells casting, Collarbin shrieking like he'd seen Felix again, some carpets and....and Merlin this WAS a mad house wasn't it? Remember how amused she'd been earlier back in the library? Yeah....that was happening again and despite what some might have considered a serious situation, the Gryffindor was CRACKING UP. As in....Airey was CRAWLING on the floor, Collarbin was shrieking like Circe knows what and there were pixies floating around. It was like a circus only she might have been the only one hardly concerned. Yes, this might prove a tad bit problematic seeing as it prevented her from raising her own wand to offer help but hahahaha it was hilarious. "I agree with Professor Culloden. Let's burn the thing and be done with it." Sorry Airey, the Gryffindor hadn't set anything on fire in the longest while. It was long overdue. She watched the Arithmancy Professor propose colloportus, nicking the idea from Professor Airey but couldn't help think it'd fail...like everything else. This was the most ironic fairytale book she'd ever seen, considering all the chaos it was causing. "So much for 'everyone living happily ever after'." She commented lightly, leaning against one of the safer bookshelves that didn't snarl or shriek at her. "Brilliant." This book was gold. On second thought, let's not burn it. Could she keep it? For later? |
Gabriel's idea of sealing the book up was good but... how were they supposed to do that? But before he could think of anything he saw that the book on the table was flipping its pages again and a second later he felt himself being wrapped in a carpet together with the Ravenclaw. He shrieked and accidentally dropped his wand and as he was lifted up in to the air, he dangled upside down above the table. He wriggled and as he did so he saw that Culloden was pointing his wand at them. WHATWASHEDOING?! Oh wait, he was using diffindo on the carpet to set them free. How thoughtful was that?! the only problem was.... Exactly. Being in midair , Kevin shrieked again as he fell but didn't hurt himself as he landed. The moment he was back on the ground, he dropped down on his knees and crawled under the table where he had seen his wand roll under. He NEEDED his wand right? |
|
Zoe stared now as the flying carpets flew out and started picking people up who had been stunning the pixies. She squeaked and started backing away even more now. Merlin, okay maybe she should have stayed in the kitchens or even ran for the common room rather than follow the headmistress's directions to going to the library? Where was James anyway? How did you stop flying carpets? They'd tried stopping the pixies and now look! |
Jordan finally figured out the spell most of the students and staff used to disarm pixies. "Immobulus" Jordan shouted as he casted a few spells to get the pixies out of his business. At about that time Jordan felt something smack his head out of nowhere. It was indeed a carpet. Yes, a carpet attacked Jordan. "Ouch, Merlin's Beard, I didn't think carpets would harm me like that." Jordan had been hit by multiple things before: His brother, a baseball, football, beater, quaffle ball, baseball bat, soccer ball. This was the first time, especially at Hogwarts, that he can remember that a piece of the carpet ended up attacking himself. He thought to himself, "Welcome to Hogwarts, where books go missing and carpets can physically attack you." Not knowing what to do Jordan went to a place where he was cornered in to in the library, where he could see everything that was going on and nothing would creep up on him and slap him in the face causing him to be knocked over. Last thing he wanted was a trip to the Hogwarts Hospital Wing due to excessive physical assault from a carpet. |
O________________________O A lot was happening all at once. Pixies. FLYING CARPETS. Holy Chinese Fireball. You know, they could use a dragon right about now and toast that book. Add in the pixies and flying carpets. Beverly had just managed to look in Botros' direction, a brief eyebrow raise at how well the runes were working in holding the book in place. If only...it'd freeze it's power. "Professor?" Any professor, really. "Isn't there ANY spell to put the book to sleep? Make it's magic wear out or just stop shooting things at us?" And THEN they could burn it. Sorry, Airey. Eeeeeeek! Full speed pixie ahead! "Immobulus!" |
. . . What..............What................?!?!?!?! Gabriel went completely WIDE-EYED as the pixies were replaced with flying carpets. He had NOT been prepared for this sort of attack; being immediately swept up by one of the carpets.....arms forced around the Gryffindor known as 'Kevin'. Insert PANIC ATTACK here. He couldn't breathe...and the carpet had rendered his wand and wand hand useless. What was personal space?! There wasn't any......and yea, he still couldn't breathe...and it was hard to think in that moment with no oxygen traveling to his brain. There was only blank staring at Kevin....as he was starting to shut down.... ...but then he was hurtling towards the floor....landing in a heap next to the table and Professor Botros........It took several moments to get his bearings, as Gabe attempted to recover from the panic attack still in progress.....Breathing. Deep breathing. Head bent between his knees. . . ....AND....they didn't know what they were up against....They couldn't just burn it....What if burning the book released whatever dark magic it had...? What if this book was....possessed?!....But Gabe was too shook up to offer that insight. Professor Botros was sealing it, anyway. Sealing it was the safest option....until it could be...properly studied...and....observed....by experts.... HE WANTED A GLASS OF WATER AND A FLUFFY PILLOW.... |
............... Flying carpets. The book was now sending out flying carpets. It obviously didn't like being in the Runes, but tooooo bad! Stupid thing shouldn't have tried to take over the school, then. And who was shrieking? Was that a professor? Holy crap on a cracker. Not that that mattered right now, with the flying carpets flying around and attacking people. "Immobulus!" she cried, aiming at the nearest one. And missing. Grrrrr......... |
O_________O SWEET CIRCE, what was going on here?! No sooner had they gotten the pixies off of Culloden, the book flipped to another page and started attacking them with flying carpets. It seemed MAD that no one was reading it, which made her think that things would only get worse until they destroyed it. Not sure what spells to use, Lux hoped the adults and older students could take care of the carpets. "I'm with Professor Culloden and Lex. I say burn it before it can cause any more evil." Give it a good taste of Incendio. |
Why were the humans refusing to read the tantalizing stories held within its beautifully glowing pages? Were the smells and sights not enough for them? Apparently not, since they were shooting useless spells at it. They had no effect whatsoever on the Fairy Tale Book of Fairy Tales. Then the book seemed to shudder at something one of the older students said. That girl had previously perused its pages and enjoyed herself, but now she was threatening it. How to counteract this? Make her happy, of course. Immediately everything changed. The rogue pixies began to bat their eyelashes, blow kisses, and playfully braid the hair of anyone they could reach. The flying carpets released their captives and began to dance with them instead. And now frogs, some chocolate some real, began leaping from the table where the book sat, bound by the runic ward. The amphibians began to pucker up and make kissing noises. Try not letting that make you happy, girl! |
She was trying to slip from the room without being seen when she felt her hair being tugged and tried to look back at whatever had hold of it and saw blue fingers of a pixie who was now attached to her back trying to braid her long hair. Wait! NO! Get off! She tried reaching back to catch hold of the little pixie. "Come on now!" she exclaimed. Professors? Headmistress? They really needed to figure something out. Puckering up frogs, dancing carpets and now pixies who braided hair?? |
Professor Culloden was completely helpless, just screaming for them to save him. It would have been funny if people weren't being attacked by pixies and flying carpets. Gabriel Banner. She liked this one. He was smart. Oh, one of the carpets had him! Penelope didn't know what to do. Did someone suggest BURNING the BOOK? "You can't burn the book!" Good, the carpets had released everyone and had stopped attacking people. Penelope made her way over to Gabriel to make sure that he was alright. "Are you okay, Gabriel?" He didn't look like he was okay. It looked like he was having a panick attack. |
Just when Jasmine thought things couldn't possibly get any worse, they did. The evil book sent flying carpets to attack everyone. She watched in horror as the carpets lifted several students into the air. Fortunately no one was seriously injured in the madness. The professors were shouting out spells and suggestions. The students were giving their opinions on what to do with the book too. It was contained, but not subdued. There had to be a way to put an end to the bad things that were happening. Suddenly, things got even weirder. The schizophrenic pixies started blowing kisses. What? The carpets we're swaying. Jasmine could not believe what was going on. |
In one instant, the mood of the whole book club hunt changed dramatically. The Pixies were now trying to dance with the students and their appearance had changed too. Instead of a weird, blue-looking pixie, you would see that same blue pixie with makeup on as if it were getting ready for some type of formal dance. Jordan was mostly shocked and a little bit confused as to why they transformed like that. Was the book just that unusual or was it trying to pull a prank on the students and professors of Hogwarts, not to mention the Headmistress. Jordan tried to avoid all and any contact with these "girl" pixies. Unfortunately for them, Jordan was not attracted to these beautified pixies because they would be quite strange and awkward. Instead he continued to discharge the pixies and blocking contact by hitting them with his fists if they got to close. He thought to himself "I didn't think that finding and securing a book would be this difficult, especially in a library. Hogwarts really does surprise you all the time." |
First the pixies, then the carpets.... Anastasia was certainly glad she was hiding in the stacks. Whaaaaaaat, this was a big library and her hair was far too valuable and pretty to risk against the wrath of a BOOK. She did follow the events happening around said book, however, from peeping through the bookshelves. Quote:
Quote:
"Don't laugh," she nudged Cambridge. "Try something. You read it, OBVIOUSLY, as that's the only excuse for your crazy period at the start of this term. So talk to the book. It must be somewhat cognizant. Give it what it wants without reading it." See, the book was sending out NICE things now to try to get them to read. Annie leaned around the bookshelves and snagged a hopping chocolate frog for herself, biting off a leg idly. Hmm. Not bad. Tasted just like the real thing, too. Since things seemed to be going better now, at least as far as what was coming FROM the book, Annie edged a little bit closer to the mess. Oh, the book was trapped on a table, now was it? GOOD. So where was the spell to end the book....hmm... they needed some magic words. HA. |
Maybe the threat of burning really WAS how to destroy the book, because in no time it went from attacking them to being super nice. It was very weird. A pixie started braiding her hair, and Lux let it slide because hey at least it was being nice. ...WERE THOSE CHOCOLATE FROGS?! *________* Eagerly grabbing a hold of one, Lux took a bite as she listened to the Headmistress tell Lex to talk to the book. Would it work? She was very curious to see. |
SPOILER!!: This! . . Gabriel had no clue what was going on now. He was far too involved in simple breaths in and out...and not passing out in the middle of this mess. Lack of oxygen to the brain could do that...He had...first hand experience....on that.....front..... Suddenly, the small Ravenclaw....um, Penelope? girl was speaking to him...and it was a terribly good thing he was already in a panic...because this had no further negative effects on his state of mind. How could it possibly get worse? A flying carpet had just tried to kill him... A. Flying. Carpet. "I'm....okay." His tone suggested otherwise, however. .......Why were there suddenly bouncing chocolate frogs?...and dancing carpets?......and......hair-braiding pixies? This...was a nightmare. Yes! He was dreaming....What else could it possibly be?! He just needed to pinch himself and this would all go away and then he could wake up and get dressed...and go eat breakfast with CB..... What a strange dream to have, though... Huh. Gabe lifted a hand and gripped some skin between his index finger and thumb, squeezing hard. WHY WASN'T IT DISAPPEARING?! Logically....it should have.... .............."I'm....not okay....." |
She was seriously getting whiplash from everything going on. First it was pixies, then it was flying carpets and now it was........ chocolate frogs? And the pixies and carpets were being nice? Heather avoided the frogs, because she was afraid that it would be a trick. Like what if the frogs were just the book's way of enchanting people again? So, yeah. The pixies and carpets didn't get a very warm reception from the Gryffindor either, as they were batted away like flies. Listen to the Headmistress please, Head Girl. This lion was ready for the book's insanity to be over. |

"On the contrary, we can burn anything." She said in response to Penelope's wild protests against the possibility of burning the book. It was like that one year with the flesh eating plant and Bentley not wanting it dead. Bellaire blew that thing to smithereens regardless and they would do it again whether Mr. Kitridge liked it or not. The sudden poking from behind the books had her attention Hold the snitch. Oh my my my MY! The book was sprouting chocolate frogs. THE BLOODY BOOK WAS MAKING ALL HER DREAMS COME TRUE. hdsfxijkrgfiwgs!!! Needless to say the Gryffindor had tuned out the Headmistress in favour of the loves of her life, whipping out her wand to freeze them as they went about before sticking them in her bag. These were hers, officially. With the widest of grins now firmly in place, Lex went right up to the book, leaning against the table it now rested and plucked another chocolate frog that was freshly leaving its pages. "Keep this up and I promise I'll live happily ever after." No questions asked. She turned to the others with a serious look and a chocolate frog dangling from her mouth. "No one's burning this bad boy. This is happiest I've been in months." She wanted to scoop the book off the table, and take it back to her dorm so the chocolate frogs could hop around there. No one should disturb. "We're gonna need some alone time." But...spells on the book to keep it in place....best not touch.... |
Wand in hand was tempting this Prefect. Blasting the bloody book seemed like a great way to release stress from OWLs, Dad's new girlfriend-thing, sleeping issues, books that were trying to posses students. BOOM. Just one really strong blasting spell. It didn't matter from whom. Beverly had just become overcome with temptation as she pushed off a bookshelf, striding toward the center off commotion, wand gripped tightly, when the attack ceased. Well...not exactly. Now there were dancing magic carpets, smooching frogs and...chocolate ones. 1) Only her boyfriend got to smooch her. 2) She wanted all of those chocolate frogs. 3) Tie down the Head Girl and blast that book into smithereens. Was that so hard? Would anyone miss it? Could they be done with this and have a happily ever after and not worry about ANYTHING? Would this be enough to cancel OWLs? Would pizza be on the menu for dinner? Beverly thought of all of this while biting the head off of a captured chocolate frog. "Stupefy!" Smooching frog down. No kissing her. |
WHATINTHENAMEOFMERLIN????.... HUH? PIXIES? And before he could even react, FLYING CARPETS???? Uh. Zander had no idea what to do. He had to... He had to-- KEVIN!!! Well, that definitely woke him up. Furrowing his brows in reaction, he ran towards Kevin, but then stopped after seeing the third year was alright. Either way, no one messed with his friend and got away with it. Neville Longbottom wouldn't let that happen. He needed a spell... But what? Uh. All his brain could thing of at the moment was... Aguamenti? Alohomora??? NO THINK, ZANDER. THINK. Uh. Lumos?? WHY COULDN'T HE THINK OF A PROPER SPELL. Wait a minute. Chocolate frogs? The book was shooting out chocolate frogs??? CHRISTMAS WAS HERE... AGAIN! And early too!! This was the best day ever! It was raining chocolate frooooogs! Creepy kissy chocolate frogs BUT STILL. Jumping up and down to collect the spewing frogs, Zander started making his way back close to the book without even realizing it. Until he was only a few feet away from Headgirl Lex. Wait a minute, was she TALKING to the book? Wait a minute. That was exactly what the book wanted, right? To be loved? Quote:
If they let the book think that they only wanted to read it... That was what the book wanted? To be read? AND if they could just fool it... Then they could... They could take the opportunity to shut it. And if the book was closed... Then it wouldn't have any power? It had to use the story to shoot out the flying carpets. That had to mean something. The stories had power, but would they have power if the book was shut? |
SPOILER!!: Gabe Gabe said he was okay, but Penelope could clearly see that he wasn't. There, he said it, he wasn't okay. She wasn't sure if there was really anything that she could do to help him, but she stayed by him in case he needed help. We're some people still thinking about burning the book? How could they even think about burning a book? Who would even want to burn a book? "Don't burn books, not even books that attack you with carpets and pixies!"Penelope noticed that not a single Ravenclaw had suggested burning the book, unless she had missed someone. As far as she could tell, only members of other houses wanted to burn the book. The students in the other houses were seriously misinformed if they thought that it was acceptable to burn books of any kind. |
Lex and Zander ^^ Finally able to grab his wand from under the table, Kevin crawled back and stood up while looking around. The library was a mess and he thought that the Librarian shouldn't have whined about when he tried to mess the place up by putting bugs in the books. 'Cause this was FAR worse. He ducked and dodged his way to safety or as safe as one could be in this kind of situation and then everything died down. What the? For a moment, Kevin stared but then he realised that the carpets started dancing and he felt something tucking on his hair lightly. He looked up to see a pixie .......braid his hair. "YA GET OFF!" He shouted as he was now having four braids in his hair already. But then Zander caught his attention as he saw him walk to the direction of the book and stand next to Lex. He couldn't hear what they were saying and immediately thought that the book had done something to his only friend to get him closer. He used the immobulus spell on the pixies and with his hair beautifully braided READ A PAGE OR TWO?! oh yeah, he definitely heard that! HIS ONLY FRIEND WAS GETTING POSSESSED WASN'T HE?! "YA! are you two stupid or something? just destroy that thing!" he pointed his wand at the book. "Or I will!" Bravely stupid Gryffindor being a bravely stupid Gryffindor. |
Ummm, why was that Ravenclaw girl (Penelope) talking so loudly? Raising her brow, Lux gave her an odd look as she continued eating her Chocolate Frog. As far as she knew there was no plan to burn the book, just people wanting to do so. Curiously she watched as Lex talked to the book. Haha, it would have been kind of funny if things weren't so serious right now. Frogs were making kissy faces and the Head Girl was talking to a book that was held in a circle made out of red candy. Hogwarts was such a strange place. Zander wanted to read a page or two, which was SO not a good idea. "Anyone who reads that book becomes possessed. Not a good idea. Trust me, I know from experience." She had to admit that Kevin's idea was much better. "What if we used Bombarda?" Yes? No? Maybe? |
AHHHHH! If Adi wasn't afraid of his head smashing into the ceiling should the carpet turn right side up or him falling off and crashing to the ground, he would surely have enjoyed this high speed ride. And you know what? That song A whole New World was stuck in his head. All he needed now was his Jasmine aka AJ. The fourth year became aware of shouting down below and took a chance at scanning the faces. There was Angel looking mighty concerned. He was sure he heard the words 'Leave my bro'. There were Benny, Culloden and Tanner pointing wands in his direction, no doubt trying to save him. And Airey shouting something about that annoying book. Suddenly, Adi found himself falling...falling...falling...ever so slooooowly  Had one of the three persons who had been pointing their wands at him done something to slow him down? And when he landed close to the floor, he didn't crash into it as he had expected. Instead, it felt as though he had landed on something soft. Phew! He was mighty thankful to whoever had helped him out there. But he hardly had time to think on that when his carpet grabbed his hands and started pulling him this way and that. O___O What was going on?! It took Adi a moment to realise the thing was DANCING with him. :whaa: |
*sighs at charrie* SPOILER!!: Zander Best day ever. Hands down, best frickin' day ever. She didn't care how real these things were. They tasted the same and if they vanished from her stomach later she'd just have room for more right away so really this was a win-win, for her. No one else seemed on board. The actual frogs that wanted kisses were ignored for their chocolate counterparts but one was duly expulso-ed when it tried getting too close to her lips. That was not how it worked Mr. Frog. Lex froze another couple frogs and took turns biting into each of them, getting a taste of them all in case they vanished at any minute. And Zander was winking. Did he have something in his eye? As he approached Lex extended an untouched chocolate frog to him. "You can read as many pages as you want so long as you don't change this story." Because she'd forget he was a lion for the faintest moment and pop him one between the eyes for taking away her chocolate frog wonderland. Surely that was clear. Quote:
She grinned, obviously in the best of moods with all this sugar hopping around her in all its magnificent glory. "Grab a chocolate frog and enjoy the show, the book's finally on our side." Minus the kissy frogs. Those were still a bit iffy with her. Quote:
Unreasonable, yes but this was the joy of a chocolate frog and these people were dangerously close to RUINING everything. Quote:
"We wanted to catch the book and we did. It's been here longer than we know which means there's a way to make it dormant again."......after. After the chocolate frogs had run out. |
Gryffindors. *snort* Oh for the love of Merlin.... Alexa Cambridge had once again taken things too literally. She was now leaning up against that book as though it were her only friend. AND she had sucked a younger Gryffindor into doing the same thing! "Stupid frogs," the Headmistress murmured, pushing away from her shelf and entering the fray again. At least the book was distracted, because Annie was going around and freezing pixies that were braiding the children's hair. All pixies collected were placed into Botros' box. As she proceeded calmly through, Anastasia directed her laser blue eyes at the standoff happening by the book. "Remember who the REAL enemy is, Cambridge," she called out. "Keep talking to the book. DON'T ACTUALLY touch it, Zander. Kevin, point your wand at it, but not to light it on fire." Actually, that gave her an idea.... "EVERYONE, wands out and at the ready. Point them at the book. We're going to sweet-talk our way out of this." Now what did that book want to hear? As Alexa had said, there had to be a way to make it dormant again.... |
What in Merlin's Beard was going on. Students were now reading or maybe talking to the book as if it were a person. If this wasn't such a strange situation, it would not be Hogwarts worthy. Jordan continued to freeze the pixies and thought about the Silver Shield Spell that he learned in Defense Against The Dark Arts, however pixies didn't really register in his mind as being defined as "Dark Arts". The Headmistress, Truebridge, started shouting and giving commands for certain students to do something as they still hadn't conquer this fighting book. As she ordered all the students to get their wands ready and sweet-talk the book, Jordan thought of why. Why should they sweet-talk a book and what good would it do. However, the Headmistress said that, not another student so it was easier to do what she said since she actually knew what she was talking about. So Jordan prepared his wand and was trying to prepare to sweet-talk the book, if that was even possible. |
you all ^^ .....What on earth was Dumbo doing? Kevin couldn't help it but let out a laugh when he saw Adi dancing with one of the carpets. Whaaat? that was funny! No matter if it was a serious situation. Oh right ..the book. Standing next to Zander and with his wand pointed at the book on the table, he turned his gaze from the book to Lex and he sent her a death glare. "Was that a threat Cambridge?" He said in a cold and quiet voice. And people still asked why he didn't like her ?! "Not really how a Head Girl should act towards a FELLOW Gryffindor" He didn't stop glaring at her and only when he heard the Headmistress words did he turn back to the book. Sweet talk? Oh boy, he was so not good at that...how did one even DO that? He was good at motivational speeches. Just ask Zander, no lie. But sweet talk? "I don't even know how to BE nice, you two do the talking..or no wait, ZANDER should do the talking" another glare for you Cambridge. In the meantime , he continued to point his wand at the book. Mentally preparing himself for whatever was going to happen because he did not believe that book would give up so soon. |
