After supplying the term's password, ‘Tribble Troubles’, the Fat Lady swings her portrait open revealing the entrance to your home away from home. The hearth has a few low burning embers just enough to give it a homely warm feeling in the Scottish highlands, and its low light illuminates the comfy armchairs before it.
The common room has a fresh feel to it, with curtains in Gryffindor house colors drawn across two new rooms in the back that shall have to remain a mystery until morning. The sweet aroma of chocolate frogs, cauldron cakes, pumpkin pasties, and buttered popcorn fill the common room, and there are large white mugs filled with hot cocoa or tea set out on a long table near the fireplace. A few roasting sticks, along with all the fixings (including an assortment of gourmet marshmallows in various flavors) to make delicious hot schmoes smores can be found on the opposite side of the fireplace.
On one of the end tables beside the large sofa in front of the fireplace are twostacks of parchment for you to take should you so desire. It would be in your best interest if you did, however. Will come in handy for those lions lacking life experience.
For those who are returning, this is an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends and for those that are newly sorted, this is an opportunity to make friends. Unless your bed is beckoning you, sit, relax, have some snacks and chat. Your Head of House and House Assistant wish you a pleasant start to the new school term.

Coming down from the boys' dormitories with some more blankets held in his arms, Airey made his way over to the fireplace and plopped them unceremoniously down on one of the comfy arm chairs before glancing over his shoulder at Medea.
"So, while Miss Cambridge and Mr. Bay helped with the planning," he smirked. And really the concept was one that belonged to the Head Girl to begin with since the party Seren and him had organized last term had thwarted the now 7th year's original plans with the new sortees. "Would hardly be fair to not have a surprise for them as well, wouldn't you say?"
Just as much of a welcome back for them as it was for everyone else.
"So I picked these up the other day at a muggle hobby shop. Looks like a party in a can." He retrieved a few aerosol cans from his enchanted breast pocket and handed one to her.

This wasn't the first time she'd been in the Gryffindor common room, but she hadn't visited enough times to be over how marvelously warm and welcoming it felt. And how the elves had outdone themselves with the assortment of sweet drinks and tasty treats!
Having sat upon the edge of the large couch, she watched Airey set up the final touches. Naturally she would have helped if she knew where everything was. Of course. "I vould say so, yes." Crossing her legs, she smiled softly and leaned back on her hands comfortably, until she was handed one of the festive looking aerosol cans.
Oh? "Silly string, spray streamer." Streamer in a can? Or was it string? And why was it silly?"Haff you ever tried it before?" There was a small *pop* as she cautiously took the lid off. Unfortunately... nothing flew out. Or, erm, fortunately.

Flopping on the sofa next to her, Airey balanced his own can on his knee and pulled out another one to balance on his other knee. It always amused him that despite spending so much time working among muggles that there was so much of their culture he still did not understand. Not that there were parties at NASA that required the presence of Silly String.
"Nope," he replied, wiggling eagerly in his seat a little bit as Medea popped the top off her can....and nothing happened. "There have to be instructions somewhere..." he muttered as he picked up one of the cans on his knees and turned it in his hands. "Pop the lid..." he read as he held it up towards the light, the front of it facing towards Medea. "Push down here and..."
*PHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH*
Electric purple...gunk came SHOOTING out of the can in his hand and right towards Medea's head.
At least he had figured out how to get it to work?

This...was the Gryffindor common room.
And this was EXCITING.
Yeah, David wasn't even tired from the long train ride and then the feast. He'd eaten loads, was pretty sure he could've eaten even more, and all it really seemed to do was energize him even more. Was that just him or was the food here magical like that? He wasn't sure.
But now it was time to check out his common room and dorms, so he entered them and....
....so. Cool. Was this a party or did the common room always have a table of food and drinks and stuff in here?
Oh, and two professors too. Two that he already knew from the field trip, even. Cool.
And he was about to be all polite and greet them and stuff but then the cans they were holding caught his attention.
"Is that silly string??" he asked with a grin. He didn't know wizards used that too. Was it enchanted or anything? THAT would be awesome. Enchanted silly string. Yes.

Ceo was Cross while standing outside of the Fat Ladies Portrait. Dunderheided Painting wouldn't let him through until he could properly say 'Tribble Troubles' He wasn't speaking another language. HE WAS SCOTTISH FOR MERLIN'S SAKE!! SCOTTISH HOGWARTS WAS IN SCOTLAND! SO WHAT IF HIS WAS A BIT THICKER THAN AVERAGE?!?!?!
HE WAS EXCITED TO BE AT HOGWARTS!!
Oh, and So you know...while the two Adults were paying no attention to him and the Loud House Head Jimmy Prof. was shooting string at some Bonny Friend who was also at that Table during the Feast so she probably held some position like his too? Anyways that's not what was important, what was important was those Pumpkin Pasties he could smell from a mile away. He came to the snack table and instantly popped one into his mouth letting the remainder stick out while he also pocketed 4 or 5 more of them into his school robes.
He payed no more attention to his surroundings aside for a curtained off area. So Ceorlic did what any smart thinking Jimmy would do and walk over to the Curtains. He wanted to know what these area was curtained off. Wouldn't if be smarter to have all spaces open?

He did a cartwheel and landed upright in the middle of the room, taking everything in. "Professors, you guys are the COOLEST." In case they weren't aware. "And to think I spent four years being taught by boring old Watson." His tutor that is... supposedly a fantastic teacher, and sought after or whatever, but Phoenix couldn't stand the guy. Too dull.

Ceorlic's Hand had nearly pulled back the curtain to peek at what was behind it when he felt a hand take his. The sudden tug made him think that perhaps that House Head Jimmy had spotted him, or maybe it was Isla...
What a sigh of relief when it was just Phen...litterally he sighed and the Pasty popped out of his mouth and onto the floor. "Damn, whit a pure nasty world we bide in. That wis likelie th' maist magic pasty ah will ne'er git tae sloch noo." I mean look at at it! on the floor by his feet. He was sure some of Phen's glitter dust sprinkled on top of it too.
Speaking of the Dust. "I dinnae ken about yer dust, sae lang as it keeps tae yer side." He just looked down at his Pasty again. What a world!? It could have been still edible if Ceo didn't want to have a glittered up tongue by the time he finished it. "Mibbie we can paint th' walls Magpie Colors?" He looked over to David, then to Phen again. They were Magpie fans right?

Holding hs stomach from the Feast, Chance moved slowly to the Gryffindor common room. mean, it was on the seventh floor. Talk about slosh in a bucket. Walking through the Gryffindor opening, with a little chat with the Fat Lady, Chance's eyes flew open when he saw a party was in place.
"What the-?"
This was amazing. Someone was saying something about painting the walls. Hey, Chance was all about some extracurricular activities. His smile flew to his face, and his full stomach was forgotten. He bounded further into the common room, turning in circles to get a good look at the place. His eye balls felt like they could go out of his head.
"Thank you Professor!" He said to the Professor that has sassed him in his mental breakdown caused by food earlier in the Great Hall. He laughed out loud when the Professor sprayed silly string into someones face. He shook his head and sat down on one of the large sofa. He was ready for some party extravaganza!

Isla had one of the best talks with her partner in crime, Vinnie, and felt much better now. Though the death of her owl and something else had just happened, it was in the back of her mind and she was done crying for now. She had talked with the Fat Lady for a little bit, complimenting her on her lovely, antique dress and she let her in with the password.
The fifth year's jaw dropped as she saw the sight of the common room. From the colors, the snack table, the Professors spraying silly string at each other, to the comfy chairs, and all the way to Ceo. She had forgotten he was in the same house as her. She blushed and closed her mouth, walking into the common room a little bit and going over to where the stack of papers were. Maybe if she didn't look at the certain boy in the room, she wouldn't have to talk to him, but she doubted it. She picked up both of the papers and laughed as she saw they were instructions on building forts. Not just any kind of forts, but sofa and blanket forts. That was amazing. She folded it up and placed it into her pocket.
Just then, she noticed the hot cocoa on the table and hurried over to one, grabbing it, and taking a sip. Mmmm. She hadn't had hot cocoa in probably a year and it was amazing. She walked over to a sofa next to a boy (ChanceCoeur) and sat down, taking another sip. "Hi there." She smiled. "Can you believe how cool this is?" She said, taking another look around.
Isla then realized that the Professor she had seen spraying the other Professor with silly string was THE professor. THE professor with the awesome shiny red suit and had awesome style sense. She would have to talk to him later.

The couch moved when another Gryffie, who just happened to be a girl, sat down next to Chance. She had a cup of hot cocoa in her hand, and it smelled AMAZING! Chance knew that he had just eaten twice his body weight in food at the Feast, but he couldnt resist a hot cocoa that smelled as good as that.
"Hi! Yes, amazing!" He responded to the girl, his eyes stuck on her hot cocoa. "Speaking of amazing, I NEED one of those hot cocoas." He jumped up and grabbed one off the table he had seen her get one and sat back down next to the Gryffindor girl. Taking sip, Phew it was hot!, He moaned with satisfaction.
"Hogwarts is amazing." He said, his eyes practically flying back into his head from the yumminess of the cocoa. "I think I am in love!" he said a smirk crossing his lips as he put the cup back to his lips and blew on it.
"Ahh! Rude much?" He said after he realized he hadn't introduced himself, and extended a hand to the girl, the other hand holding the cocoa to his lips still. "I'm Chance Coeur. I think Ive seen you around but then again, Hogwarts is filled with students!" He gave her another smile, before sipping his cocoa once more.

"Hey!" Phoenix and Ceorlic got a grin as David focused on them next. His DORMMATES. Cool. He'd never had dormmates before. Unless siblings counted since they lived in the same house, but he didn't count them. That was different and not really as cool since his brother and sisters could be really annoying and irritating.
Then...eh? Ceo had dropped his pumpkin pasty? That was a shame. "Can't you use magic to clean it?" There was a spell for that, wasn't there? Which suddenly reminded him that now that they were in school they could use magic WHENEVER they wanted here. Which was awesome. Chyeah.
"Yeah, m'fine glitter and paint and whatever." So long as it wasn't obnoxious, you know? Like how Jade was with glitter and sparkly things. THAT was obnoxious. But Magpie colors?? "That's a Quidditch team, right?" Just checking, because he'd heard and read a bit about Quidditch, but he had never played or seen a match, so he didn't really keep up with it. His uncle wasn't a fan of Quidditch, so he'd always tried to focus on teaching David only "educational" stuff, not how to play a sport.

The feast was finally over and they were all set to follow Alexa and Bay up to the common room. For him...back to the common room and tower and dorms that had been his home away from home for the past three years. It seemed like they were going out of their way this time around for some reason and Benny had to wonder the reason for this change out of the usual routine.
However when they arrived, using the new password for the Fat Lady's portrait, and slipped into the room decorated with red and gold part of the reasoning could be revealed. It seemed a party had been laid out by the professors. The astronomy man at least had certainly had to have time to make it upstairs before them. Benny vaguely remembered seeing the woman at the feast but not as late as her companion. He also had to admit, he knew like none of the lions currently inside the common room. Professors Flamsteed and Romano were the only familair faces.
Now where had both Angel and AJ disappeared off to?
And what was that purple stuff.
"Um...hello again Professor," he greeted Flamsteed as he approached where the two adults were. "Good evening Professor Romanos." As for his fellow unknown students, they simply received a friendly look.

She laughed as she noticed that the guy was staring at her hot cocoa and decided to get some for himself. She did agree though, this hot cocoa was amazing. Probably one of the best she had ever had. She watched as he got one and sat back down next to her. "You're in love already? Don't you think that's a little too soon?" She laughed. She blew and took another sip of her hot cocoa as she realized too that she had forgotten to introduce herself.
"Nice to meet you, Chance, I'm Isla Reeser." She beamed, shaking his hand. Now that she had a good look at him, he was pretty attractive, buuuut she wouldn't tell him that. She blushed and let go of his hand, taking another sip of her hot cocoa. "I think I saw you too. At the feast I think? Or maybe on the train? No...I think it was the feast, but there was so much going on. But hey, now we've finally met." She beamed.

Flinching from whateeeever it was that landed on her, she had absentmindedly pressed the top of her can. Vibrant Blue funky stuff shot out towards the fireplace, lucky for a certain astronomy professor. Did he just...spray her with the can? It... Peeling off a portion of the silly string from her hair, she wiggled it, expecting it to fall off from her fingers but, it stuck. It. Stuck.
"Prepare for the vorst, Mister Flamsteed." Hence her pointing her can towards the man, mischievous grin on her face... and totally not expecting the entrance to the common room to open right then. Oh! SCHOOOOM. Wait. What? Ahem. Hopping off the couch, she hid the can behind her back, which didn't make much a difference, and beamed at those entering the common room. Don't mind her picking at string stuff in her hair. Silly string? What silly string?
"Hellooooo, everyone." she bowed her head a little, taking a step to the side for Airey to gain the spotlight while wiggling her fingers a little towards Benjamin. Good evening to you too!
He immediately fell in love with it the moment that he walked in. It was warm and comfortable, and he never wanted to leave. Ever.

He assumed it was neither by the way in which their head of house read the instructions and what had happened the moment that he figured out how to make it work, a smile on his face as he tried his best not to laugh.
Trying to keep everything together he grabbed himself a cup of tea, and curiously grabbing one the sheets of paper he saw, wondering why they had instructions on sofa forts and blanket forts. Not that in mattered that much really.

The castle was HUGE, so he wasn't at all surprised that there were hidden passages and cool places to go and explore... and that's exactly what he would do. He'd go exploring!!!! It was going to be ACE, yep, he could feel it in his bones.
Zeke made a mental note NOT to forget the common room password... Tribble Troubles? Triple Troubles? Meh, he'd figure it out, but for now, his new home was on display to him, and it was super prettyyy... er.. NICE. "Hiiiii Professsors!" Yes! Hello! We see you!
Following some of the other students, he grabbed himself a drink, hot cocoa, and then found himself a place to sit. He opted for one beside a fellow first year, the dude he saw at the sorting ceremony and all, but couldn't remember the name of...
"Hi, I'm Zeke," he introduced himself, grinning broadly. "Whatcha got there?" he asked, eyeing the pieces of paper the dude had grabbed... that he hadn't.

Ahh man, the smell of this cocoa was distracting. Chance's lips hadnt left the cup since he first took the first sip of this cocoa. Yes, this had to be the meaning of true love. What was he going to do when it was gone? We must not talk about bad bad things like that.
Chance was able to smile at Isla even with the cup on his lips. "Its true love at first sight." He furrowed his eyebrows. "I think I said that weird. Love at first sight? True love at first taste? Ahhh That sounds about right!" He laughed and shook her hand.
"Well, the train ride and feast had been rather, uneventful for me besides having a little bt of a food mental breakdown at the feast. The castle was HUGE, so he wasn't at all surprised that there were hidden passages and cool places to go and explore... and that's exactly what he would do. He'd go exploring!!!! It was going to be ACE, yep, he could feel it in his bones.
Zeke made a mental note NOT to forget the common room password... Tribble Troubles? Triple Troubles? Meh, he'd figure it out, but for now, his new home was on display to him, and it was super prettyyy... er.. NICE. "Hiiiii Professsors!" Yes! Hello! We see you!
Following some of the other students, he grabbed himself a drink, hot cocoa, and then found himself a place to sit. He opted for one beside a fellow first year, the dude he saw at the sorting ceremony and all, but couldn't remember the name of...
"Hi, I'm Zeke," he introduced himself, grinning broadly. "Whatcha got there?" he asked, eyeing the pieces of paper the dude had grabbed... that he hadn't.
Leonard looked up when another guy sat himself next to him, and figured that he seemed familiar. He was pretty sure that he was also just sorted, which would make him another first year like himself? Probably?
"I'm Leo" introduced quickly in response with a large smile. Then he looked down at the papers in his hands and shrugged, offering them to the other boy. "Instructions for forts of different types..."
He was kind of looking forward to making a fort. But he was holding a hot cup of amazing tea and didn't really feel like moving anymore. With a smile on his face, he lifted his tea up, taking a careful sip but still burning his tongue as he did so, flinching away from his drink.

The feast was finally over and they were all set to follow Alexa and Bay up to the common room. For him...back to the common room and tower and dorms that had been his home away from home for the past three years. It seemed like they were going out of their way this time around for some reason and Benny had to wonder the reason for this change out of the usual routine.
However when they arrived, using the new password for the Fat Lady's portrait, and slipped into the room decorated with red and gold part of the reasoning could be revealed. It seemed a party had been laid out by the professors. The astronomy man at least had certainly had to have time to make it upstairs before them. Benny vaguely remembered seeing the woman at the feast but not as late as her companion. He also had to admit, he knew like none of the lions currently inside the common room. Professors Flamsteed and Romano were the only familair faces.
Now where had both Angel and AJ disappeared off to?
And what was that purple stuff.
"Um...hello again Professor," he greeted Flamsteed as he approached where the two adults were. "Good evening Professor Romanos." As for his fellow unknown students, they simply received a friendly look.
The feast was over. The drama was over. AJ had a full belly and a busy mind. She was actually ready to crawl into bed and have that talk with her sister. AJ only hoped that things would be all better once they both got everything off their chest. The lion has had about all of the drama that she can take.
As she followed the head girl and prefect to their common room, she had a feeling that they were going a different way this time. It could just be because she was lost in thought, and wasn't paying close attention. When they FINALLY made it alllll the way to the seventh floor AJ made note of the password and followed her fellow clubs inside.
PARTY!!!
It was customary to have an after feast party, and even though she was just talking about it at the feast moments ago, she had forgotten. She blamed that on her being lost in thought too. "We have the best head of house ever," she called out to no one in particular. As she scanned the room she noticed that nobody looked familiar to her. Everybody looked older, and that meant that she should have at least seen their faces around. Weird.
Another scan of the room showed that Benny was there. Thank goodness. AJ waltzed over to him. "Do you know any of these people?" Or was it just her? It was looking like AJ was going to have to make some more lion friends.

Half couch fort, half blanket fort," he informed, as if this was the most serious business in the world. Really though, why stop with one type?
"And they have silly string over there," he added, glancing over his shoulder at Professor Airey and... the other one he didn't know. "Recon we'll be playing war games?" he asked. The cocoa was beckoning him, but it lacked its usual pizzazz. It needed cinnamon, such a shame that.

Mitchell immediately flopped on one of the couches when he entered the common room. Oh wait. Hey. Look. Marshmellows and some sort of flyer on blanket forts. Interesting.

That had to be, hands down, the worst feast in her seven start of terms feast at Hogwarts and of course it had to coincide with the appearance of all those extra houses being at the table. Lions were trouble but they were their own trouble that she could obviously handle. There was nothing complicated in their drama.
But that was all behind her now. The feast was put aside because there was a PARTY waiting for them back in the Common Room. Lex did her best not to lose any of the Firsties especially though she did suspect she'd lost Bay. Eh, he knew how to find this place and wasn't her responsibility. Passwords and all aside, Lex made eager steps into the Common Room where she saw only happy things that made her forget even more.
Chocolate frogs.
Always chocolate frogs first. Ignoring the parchment and everything else, she slipped a couple into the pockets of her robes then went to plant herself on the couch next to Professor Airey. "Nice set up, Professor, you got everything right--Can I have that?" Without waiting, she plucked the can from the Professor's hand because this showed signs of promise. "Hey Professor Romanos...you have a little...silly string right...there." Point point point.
Oh and Benjamin, he got a nod while she kicked her feet up. Hot chocolate, she needed that too and with a flick of her wand she had a cup levitating toward her. Now THIS was a celebration.

"I can understand why" he commented referring to the forts, he often built them with his siblings... or to get away from them in certain situations. Of course, he wasn't nearly as enthusiastic about them as Zeke seemed to be.
"Yes... they don't really seem to know how to use silly string though... I think it's something that they don't have generally" maybe if this boy wasn't a muggleborn, then he'd be able to confirm that thought for him. "I'm not sure... it might be a bit of a mix of war games and just a gathering..." he commented, glancing at the marshmallows that were on another table.
Would he be able to get away with taking a few?
Eh... he was still too lazy to move... maybe in 5 minutes?

At least he thought it was just to him. Grabbing a a mug of hot chocolate, he glanced around again as more and more lions appeared, finally spotting a couple of faces he knew. Well one he knew personally in the form of AJ. The other, the boy from Diagon Alley.
Oh and Miss Head Girl had reentered his line of sight.
The boy had occupied himself for a fellow new student and Alexa was chilling out and nodded in acknowledgement of him while AJ had made the approach, apparently just as unfamiliar with the rest of the room's occupants as he was. "Honestly...no. Well other than the professors. Alexa and a young boy I ran into over the summer." Everyone else was a relative stranger who was either new or Benny had just never met before.
