Eden waited until he was back and then smiled nervously. "I...I have to apologize in ADVANCE okay? I might kill you." Accidentally, of course. She would never kill someone on purpose. And Toby was the last person on her list that she would WANT dead ANYWAYS. The sweet little puffer!

"But I'll try my best." She said with...a semi-confident nod. She waited for him to get his potion ready and just...siighed. "Okay. Bottoms up--" she said, and she clinked her vile to his and doooooowned it instantly. Because it tasted awfully nasty.

And as soon as the brew touched her lips....she slumped in her chair and dropped the vile on her desk, her eyes blankly staring ahead as she tried to catch her breath. She felt so....exhausted. She wanted to lay her head on her desk and go to sleeps---so that's what she did, putting her head down and sighing. "Oh--my--I--Toby--I might not make it to my next--class--" she was so....TIRED. Not sleepy tired---physically tired! She could hardly pick up her hand. She was out of breath already.

"I know what I'm doing," Thornton said, a least a little indignantly. Father would be most disappointed in his tone, but the girl had approached him so dismissively that Thornton felt it warranted.

Frowning, Thornton went up to grab a potion, not paying much attention to which number his partner picked, and returned to his work bench with what seemed to be #4. Drinking it down, Thornton looked at Melek, feeling just a bit warmer and.. happier. "Heh. Hehehe," he chuckled, feeling quite jovial all the sudden.

"This is going to be AMAZING," he grinned, paging through his book. "How do YOU FEEL???" Hmmmm?

She couldnt help but burst into giggles. "This is going to be so FUN!" Mel burst out in laughter, "I feel happy!" She giggled and tried to hold her stomach. "Who knew potions could be so fun." She poked at his shoulder, "Lets go prank someone." She bounced and beamed, dancing a little. She blinked, "Wait... wait... I have to do something..." She glanced at her book, trying to flip through the pages, trying to bite back a giggle. "Eeeeeeeek!" She bounced in place and giggled. She eyed her partner and tried to tickle him. Mel felt giddy and she beamed but tried to focus on her partner. How do yoooooooooooooooooooooooooou feel though?" She giggled and started to dance. Mel started to belt out, "Okay, can I just, say something crazy?" She looked over at her partner.

Adi passed the time as he waited for Benny to make his potion selection by watching Gabe and Zahra. He couldn't help sniggering over the whole thing. It was weird and funny watching the usually shy Gabe be all lovey dovey and snoggy- snoggy. LOL. Poor Gabe.

He eyed AJ. She had better NOT be taking any potion that made her lovey dovey with any guy that wasn't him. But then again, how would she know what she was taking? All he could do was cross his fingers.

Annnnd Benny was back. "You ready?'' Adi popped the lid off his little bottle. "Cheers.'' He downed the Potion. "Doesn't taste too bad.'' The words were hardly out of his mouth when- YAAAAAWWWWWN!

Adi blinked at Benny. "Oops. I nearly swallowed the entire class when I opened my mouth.'' Why was he yawning? "I feel a little tired but I'll get over it.'' Yep. Because he had work to do!

....but also.....they had something they were meant to be doing....and Gabe couldn't for the life of him remember what that was.

Well, he wanted to do the love potion.....because he was so in love and everyone should experience this......Just once. Even if artificial. Though, they were meant to find an antidote....not the actual love potion. Gabriel cared not.

Thornton had never, ever squealed before. But in this moment, he did, and clapped his hands together. "I FEEL SO HAPPY," he said, his face aching from smiling so much. There... there was something they were supposed to be doing. They were.. in the dungeons, so potions. Right. An antidote.

But why would you ever want to stop feeling SO GOOD.

"Let's DO SOMETHING FUN." Thornton nodded vigorously, trying to evade her tickling.

"I LOVE CRAZY."

"You'll BE there Professor! You'll be OFFICIATING!" She thought about giving him a high five, but Zahra didn't want to waste anymore of her GABE time.

What is poison?
"Poisons are basically harmful substances. They can kill you, or they can make you really unwell generally or with specific things. They're super negative," - Tobias Tempus, Hufflepuff Fifth Year

Known Poisons
Drink of Despair: causes the drinker to feel fear and
extreme thirst to the point that they can dehydrate from it.
Angel's trumpet: a poisonous plant; can be fatal.
Hemlock: highly poisonous
Weedosoros: 'Weed of sorrow', produces similar effects as of the Drink of Despair.
Garrotting Gas: small doses might just cause you to choke; at higher amounts you're likely to suffocate and die.
Venomous Tentacula juice: is a poison, but not fatal. It makes your insides feel like they are burning and turns your skin purple.
Basilisk venom: can kill within minutes, making the person
drowsy and blurry-visioned before they die; Phoenix tears only known counter agent.
Noxious Potion: emits a green smoke that's very strong and makes the person who inhales the fumes pass out or throw up.
Cyanide (muggle): causes a loss of oxygen in the blood stream. Effects also include headaches, fainting, and trouble breathing, but if it's exposed in higher amounts, it can be fatal.

Combatting Poisons: substances that save lives
Antidote for Common Poisons: a potion which counteracts ordinary poisons , such as creature bites and stings.
Antidote for Uncommon Poisons: a potion that cures minor magical or uncommon poisons such as doxy bites.
Bezoar: taken from the stomach of a goat.
Golpalott's Third Law: a law for making antidotes , which appears to say that the antidote for a blended poison — that is, a poison created by mixing several other poisons together — cannot simply be created by finding the antidotes to each separate poison in the blended whole and mixing them together. Instead, as Professor Slughorn explained, the potionmaker must find that single* ingredient which, when added to the blended antidotes, transforms them near- alchemically into a combined whole which will counteract the entire blended poison. Simply put, according to this law, a true antidote to a blended poison is more than the sum of its parts. The book Advanced Potion-Making contains this law, but does not explain it.

She clapped her hands together and twirled. Mel squealed. "OH MY GOSH! ME TOO!" Mel threw her arms up in the air and danced. Melek giggled and smiled at the little guy. Seeing what was happening already wasn't helping anything. He was pulling on his meager supply of Gryffindor courage to go through it for the lesson. Just had to hope nothing too bad happened to him...to them. And that the antidote to anything either of them had to contend with wasn't too difficult.

At least for Adi's sake.

Please no more happiness motion, he mused to himself in almost a prayer remembering his last potions experience with an unfamiliar effect.

Quietly offering his bottle up in cheers, he downed the contents of it, swallowing apprehensively. Taste wasn't really an issue for him, hearing his friend's comment. But ugg...his head hurt. Wincing slightly at his friend's yawn, the lion lowering his head and resting it in his hand.

Groan.

Thornton giggled as she danced, clapping his hands. "I knoooow," he said, pointing at the potions book. "We're supposed to make an antidote but whyyyyy would anyone want to stop feeling SO HAPPY?!" He bounced on his feet, trying to dodge her tickles.

He giggled at her singing, having absolutely no idea what she was on about, but it was so so so so so so FUNNY. WHEEEE.

He started laughing, so hard, in fact, that his sides were starting to hurt. But he couldn't stop. Because everything was SO WONDERFUL. HE WAS SO HAPPY. But... ow.

"Yeah. Antidote. Right. You're really happy. And I'm really happy." Thornton tried to think as he got back in his seat, still laughing. Sides still hurting. "We... must have had... the same thing."

She bowed at his clapping. "Oh, yes! An Antidoooooooooooooooote... or an Antidont... like dont stop making me feel this happy!" Mel laughed at her terrible joke. She laughed so much that tears started to fall down her cheeks. "OH MY GOSH!" Melek giggled and flailed about. "This is so painful but it hurts sooooooo much." She giggled and held her sides, "Owwwwwwwwwwwwww!" She tried to focus.

"Yes, an antidote!" She flipped through her book. "We must have taken a happy potion... because is this much happiness possible?" She giggled and flipped to the page for the antidote. Mel tried to bite back a laugh but couldn't. "This is sooooo much fun!" Melek tried to ruffle the boy's hair. "Im Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel by the way! Whats youuuuuuuuuuuuur name?" She tilted her head, "We neeeeeeed to fooooooooooooooooocus! Come on!" She giggled and looked at her book, "Hey, is this sadness draught our antidoooooooooooooooooooooote?"
She pointed to the writing, "Because the side effect seems depressing... I mean really... a sense of loss and sadness... Do we want thaaaaaaaaaaat?" She frowned at him but she couldnt keep the frown for long before bursting into laughter. "We are going to feel loooooooooooooooooooooost!" She tossed her arms up and skipped around the boy, giggling.

Anti-dont. Anti-DONT. Thornton doubled over in wheezy laughter, happy tears forming at the corners of his eyes. "I'm Thornton," he managed to squeak out between laughs.

Blinking at the book through tear-y eyes, Thornton's brain felt like it was melting trying to figure out how to be SO SO HAPPY but also say no. "Maaaayyybbeeeee," he said, flipping through pages. "BUT I DON'T WANNA BE SAD INSTEAD OF HAPPY." Just normal. NORMAL.

Thornton picked up his book and looked at it upside down before putting it on his head. "Hmmmmmmmm," he said, thinking. "There's an antidote BASE in here that we just ADD specific ingredients to for the particular poison." He held the edges of the book down against his head, as if the answer would just absorb into his brain.

Lux had taken a seat at the work station and rested her head on one of her gloved hands, propping it over the table. Hearing someone (Mel) loudly singing, she was startled awake and banged her head on the hard surface. "Ouch! That had kind of hurt, and she rubbed her jaw.

The nap hadn't really helped with her sleepiness, and she gave a big stretch. Wasn't there something she was supposed to be doing right now? Looking around she tried to remember but her brain was so sleepy. They were supposed to brew a potion, right?

Think, Lux. THIIIIINK.

Smacking her hand to her head, it came back suddenly. She needed to make an antidote. Notes were required too, she was sure.

Mel giggled, "Im going to call you Thoooooooooorn because then for halloween, I can dress up as a rose and you can be the thorn in my siiiiiiiiide." She burst into laughter and fell on the floor, rolling around with laughter. After a while, she sat up and wiped at her tears, "Get it?" She stood up and elbowed him, teasingly. Melek dusted herself off and started on yet another giggle fit.

"I dont want to be saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad either!" She giggled and twirled in delight, "But I dont want to be this haaaaaaaaaaaaaappy either..." She giggled and beamed, "It hurrrrrrrrrts! Owwwwwwww!" Melek rubbed her sides as she had a giggling fit. Mel tried to focus on the book and an antidote.

She watched him place the book against his forehead. "I dont think that is going to help, silly... but about this... this..." She burst into laughter, "Base... what ingredients are we suppose to put to fix this happiness though?" She tried to get the book out of his hands to look.

Oh...........Gabe nervously fumbled with his glasses; blushing something fierce. All these compliments.....He usually struggled with accepting that sort of thing....but Zahra loved him.....and he loved her....So, clearly, that meant she was being serious. He reached over and awkwardly pinched her bum.

People in love did that, right?......because he DID love her and, of course, he wanted to make sure it was properly expressed.

"Don't worry about a thing, lovebug. I'll do your bit, too....if that's what you want." Gabe wasn't kidding. He would've done whatever Z required.....She just needed to say the word. ".......I'm writing down some love potion recipes....and since we're working an antidote....we could just try counteracting those ingredients. What do you thing?"

PAUSING FOR SNUGGLES!!!!......and even asking her opinion. Gabe felt like he was doing alright at this LOVE stuff.

Jasmine was vaguely aware of Zhenya talking to her. Turning back to face her partner, she said, "I'm sorry what?" Oh she wasn't feeling well. "Do you have a headache, dizziness, weakness?" For a moment Jasmine tried to think of what poisons could make you feel sick, but the possibilities were endless. She needed to narrow things down a bit.

Peeking over her shoulder, Jasmine saw that the smoking hot Kevin was still there being his gorgeous self.......but Zhenya was still talking."Um.....um....What am I feeling?" How could she explain all that she was feeling. She probably couldn't, but she would try. "I'm feeling on top of the world. I'm feeling better than ever." And then she asked......what it was that Jasmine was looking at.

As a huge smile spread across her face, Jasmine leaned in closer to Zhenya. "Can I tell you a secret?" Pointing to Kevin, she continued. "You see that boy over there? I love him and that's why I'm so happy!" Looking back at Kevin, Jasmine tried to catch his eye. Whenever he looked in her direction, she gave him a little wave. Now what was she supposed to be doing again?

Norah stared with one eyebrow raised as all the other students started going crazy. And Zahra and that other boy were SNOGGING? EWWWWW. The second year averted her eyes and looked instead at Jasmine who was giving little waves to some gryffindor kid. DOUBLE EW. WHAT were these potions anyway?

Of course, she wouldn't know until she actually found a partner. "Helloo? Anyone still need a partner?" Hi people. All alone over here. Norah drummed her fingers on the table and kept waiting. Hooo hum. Nobody?

Zahra jumped at his FINGERS... then burst out laughing. With a sister like Ruby though, Z SHOULD have known he'd be the type... hehe. Hehehehe. She'd return the favor later. For now, she had that weird concern settling over her again.

Antidote... antidote... "Gabe...," Zahra whispered RIGHT into his ear, then had to pause to nuzzle that adorable little ear with her nose, "... if we brew an antidote, won't that mean you won't... we won't... love each other anymore?" she asked with REAL GENUINE CONCERN. "Let's brew more love potion instead," she whispered again, moving to stand against him and wrap herself up in his cloak. Sharing one cloak! hehehe! HIiiiii Gaaaabeeey Baaabyyyyy. She kissed his chin.

Adi was feeling even more tired now. O_O Was that what the potion he consumed did? Adi rubbed his hands against his eyes. Nooooo! He could not afford to take a nap, thought that's what he wanted to do very much.

He looked over at AJ. Adi was keeping an eye on her. Yep. But nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary with her. So...back to Benny...who's head was in his hands. O_O

Adi struggled to his feet. He was suddenly feeling a bit weak. Gripping his work station (and still managing to wobble a bit), he went over to Benny. "What's wrong? Headache?'' Sure, he knew that Benny wasn't in any danger and that he himself was supposed to be watching the symptoms to figure out what potion had been consumed but that did not prevent his brotherly instincts from rising up.

Prrrrrrrppphhh. Thornton tried not to laugh but could not help himself. He hated being called Thorn but it.was.just.so.great. "We're going to be friiiiiends that long?!" HOORAY! Joint bestie halloween costume!

Oh. But she had a point. "I don't knoooowwwwww." Stricken. But then he heard the snogging boy say something about counteracting ingredients. "OH. We would pick things that counteract happiness. Sooo" maybe he didn't want to not be happy, but he was still grinning SO MUCH and his face ached. "So we make the base and add things that have sad properties?"

Zhenya frowned at her partner. She wanted to cry, then lie down, then vomit. In that order. Wait, no, cry, vomit, lie down. Yes. "Not feeling well." She had her hands over her stomach, feeling very nauseous. Oh no, she was going to vomit. She closed her eyes and did a few deep breaths until the wave of nausea passed. "Headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea," she listed. Hopefully she didn't have to list vomit.

"Secret? Oh is it really important?" she asked, still clutching at her stomach. She had no idea what her symptoms could mean, which meant she probably got a dud batch. Zhenya was feeling ghastly, why didn't she get the good one? She felt so poorly, she hardly noticed anything that was going on. Zhenya turned her head to where Jasmine was pointing. She didn't know who that boy was, but Jasmine was in love with him? "Good for you. What's his name? Are you dating him?" She was wondering why Jasmine had to tell her that she was in love now? Did it really matter? She only just met Jasmine, why was she telling her all about her boyfriend? And more to the point, why did Zhenya want to know, all she wanted to know what Jasmine's symptoms so she could cure her.

Oh no, another wave of nausea. Zhenya grabbed her cauldron and slipped down off her chair onto the floor. She didn't care if it was dirty. She laid down and put her head in her cauldron. Just in case. "Jasmine I feel really poorly." Another big yawn, then a burp. Her hands quickly went over her mouth, but still no vomit. That was good.

Oh, SOPHIE wanted to be her partner? Dot bounced in her seat and grinned broadly in excitement that she. Was. Being. Chosen. That meant that Sophie thought she was good at Potions or something, right? Or liked her? Wanted to be friends now?

"OKAY. We can be partners, and you'll save me, and I'll save you. But if I take something 'barrassing, don't let me be too stupid, ok? I trust you with MY LIFE, ok?" Or no her life. Her future reputation. Because see how Gabe was kissing on someone?

"But if I someone cute falls in love with me, it's okay if you let me snog him." Like That Boy. Where was he? "I'll get the poisons!" She darted up to the desk and grabbed two random bottles from the mass of them. A #4 and a #3.

It was difficult to think when she was rubbing and kissing on him like that.....thank you very much.....and Gabriel giggled under her affection, trying to put the smallest amount of space between them. Nothing would get done at this rate.

"You shouldn't worry about that...." Poke! "...We love each other. That's not going to change just by taking some potion." The words were foolish and untrue, of course.....but Gabe honestly believed it in his current state of mind. Love was FUN.....AND FREEING....AND AMAZING.

Giggle.

"Come on. Help me figure this out..." More beaming smiles for yooooooooou. "I think we should incorporate....."

Jotting a few things down, he slid the paper over so his lady love could take a peek. "Hmm?"

Sophie was very, very happy that Dot seemed so elated to be her partner - it provided a good distraction from Zahra and Gabe, though Soph DID briefly look around to see if CB was present today - but she didn't see her. Maybe... maybe CB didn't SEE. Maybe she wouldn't know. Maybe it would all BE OKAY.

"I'll save you from death AND embarrassing stuff. Promise." Dramatic, but she accompanied it with a cheeky sort of grin to convey that she was just teasing. Dot wasn't in any harm, surely even Soph's teasing wouldn't make her think that, would it? Didn't seem to bother the girl all that much, though, as she was off to pick a potion for BOTH OF THEM. Which meant... Sophie's life was in the hands of the young Slytherin.

Merlin.

When the girl returned, the fourth year tried to look as calm and cool as possible, but she was mostly trying to figure out which bottle in Dot's hands she wanted. She wished she KNEW which one was making people all lovey-dovey and HOPED she wasn't going to be drinking that one - unless she made sure those feelings were only directed toward Tobes. She didn't want to hurt anyone, especially not him, but she wouldn't even know if that was going to happen till she took one of the poisons, so she pointed to the one with the number '3' on it. "Thanks for getting them for us, s'okay if I take this one?"

She had already taken it from Dot, though, impulsively out of nerves - voluntarily poisoning oneself. Pffft. A typical Culloden move, certainly, and a test of their bravery. "Hope someone cute falls in love with you AND you fall in love with them," was her choice of words as she gently clinked her bottle together with Dot's as a toast, then she drank.

...And, after a few long seconds, her whole demeanor drooped, her expression somber. Her body... did not feel so good, no. "Why do bad things happen to good people," she whispered to Dot. She was DYING. Her body was DETERIORATING. Culloden was KILLING HER.
