The class is back to its usual design: There are proper chairs with soft cushions to sit and lean back on, they are also still charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. The walls are a soft, calming blue. There are one big, grey rubbish bin by the door and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm (a short hose to direct the water to the cauldron is on the white, porcelain shelf hung on the wall, in case it doesn't fit the washbasin). In addition, there is a large tray of something on teacher's desk, but a white blanket is covering it so that it's a surprise. Professor Cosgrach is nowhere to be found.
Come in and take a seat!
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The class has begun, so please do not announce your late arrival, but act as if you've been here all along!

Notes out of the way, Adi glanced over at Benny. "Partners, riiight?'' He didn't really wait for answer before he went off towards Culloden's desk. He knew Benny would be his partner for this class.
Now...which number to pick? Hmm...
Number 1. Yep. He'd drink whatever was in there. Adi grabbed the bottle then headed back to his seat. He was waiting on Benny. They could drink their selected potion together.

Everyone didn't ALREADY know?!?! How could they not??? Zahra would take care of that right awa... Oh. AW THEY WERE HOLDING HANDS! Zahra got distracted by that and followed her Kitten like a faithful puppy.
Her eyes scanned his workstation. Poisons. "Gabriel... your notes are WONDERFUL. Just like you. You're SO smart. I just LOVE that big brain of yours!" GIGGGGLLEEEE. Zahra popped up to her tippy toes and put a KISS on his BRAIN. But something was troubling. That whole antidote thing on his notes. "We should brew TATTOO INK while we're here, Gabe. Give each other PERMANENT tattoos so EVERYONE knows... everyone could see.... just how much I LOVE you. You can put a GIANT eagle on me. That's how much I love you. I'll let you Ravenclaw me." Pause. "I have this really strong urge to make out. You wanna? Because I love you, Banner. Like whoa. We should make out."
Eden was VERY lost but--well--they had to take some sketchy substances now, and she just..ugh. This would be so....awful. What if she accidentally killed her partner? Besides being PAINFULLY guilty for the rest of her life, she also did NOT want to go to Askaban. NOPE. So she hoped that none of the potions were terrible. Glancing up at Professor Culloden and questioning his methods(first, the hate potion! and now THIS) she just glanced at Toby and bit her lip. "Wanna' just....be partners?" she asked softly, before standing to go grab a potion. She'd be baaack. Maybe he wanted to partner with Sophie. Right? She wouldn't care if he did.
Could she NOT have a partner? She'd probably end up killing whoever WAS her partner due to lack of potions skillz. GAH.
Coming back, she uncorked her potion and just waited for a minute...well..well...WELL. She had to take it but she was SCAAAAARED to take it. WHAT IF SHE DIED. She did not TRUST Professor Culloden--or ANY of the professors right now.
Toby was still writing down notes and stuff for the lesson, making sure to get down everything possible because this seemed like a bad time to miss an important detail. He heard Eden speak beside him and glanced up at her, but she'd already gone to grab a poison. So, while he awaited her return, Toby finished up the last of his notes and set his quill down just as she got back.
"Sure, let's be partners," he smiled at her, now getting up himself to go retrieve a potion. Tobias paused in front of the selection, chewing indecisively at his lip. This could be tricky; there was the chance that some of these potions might react badly with other things he had going on, after all. But then it occurred to Toby that Culloden wouldn't let anything bad happen, and so he picked up a black bottle at random and headed back to his workstation whilst checking the label to see that it was potion number 4.
"Right then," Tobias said, taking a seat and unstoppering his bottle before looking up at Eden again with a smile. For some reason, he didn't seem at all bothered with the fact that he was about to be poisoned. "Shall we do this?" He raised the bottle to his lips and paused, wanting to drink at the same time.
He wasn't wroooonngggg!!!! ... That was something. He hadn't failed YET, and he was hoping to keep it that way.
Of course, now that the theory had been done and dusted - so to speak, and the mysterious sheet has been removed to show a series of bottles - it was time to get to work. His understanding of the task was that they would work in partners. And that, ONE of them had to be... poisoned...
He was totes okay with being the guinea pig in this situation.
"I'm cool with being poisoned, anyone? Someone? Work with me?"
He wasn't begging or anything though... ahem.
Kace heard they were doing the final!? GULP! He wasn't nervous or anything ya know. He would play it cool. Now he needed to find a potion and find a partner. That shouldn't be too bad. He walked around and was scouting partner, he saw Lux and Cinna being taken and he grinned. He saw the little lion Zeke there and he smiled. He thought why not work with this little guy. There time doing the COMC homework was fun times. He walked over to him and tapped his shoulder. "Need a partner..?" he asked with a smile.

Not that he would really have cared all too much about the little details normally, but it was starting to get close to exam years. And who knew what he needed to do well on, right?! Better start early... Right? Sophie was probably preparing since her first year, so it wouldn't hurt to get some extra notes down here and there.

He needed a partner. That came first. And what the heck!?! WAS THAT ZAHRA AND GABE... SNOGGING???? IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS????

Uh. Okay.... Going to the table with the potions now. Totally disregarding the weirdness that was going on here. Uh. Yeah. Right.
Just to get things straight... the professor was telling them to pick a poison, drink it, AND hope to find the antidote for somebody else while you were dying having declining health... WICKED. This was so cool. AJ knew that the professor wouldn't let them die so this was going to be SO.MUCH.FUN.
Now she had to have a partner, and who better than your own flesh and blood? "Hey Angel, wanna be my partner?" If she knew her sister, and she did, AJ knew that she would be scared. Not to fear though for AJ would make sure that she was safe.
It was exciting not knowing what potion/poison you were going to take. Her signature goofy grin could not be wiped off of her face. This could quite possibly be one of the best lessons ever. It was going to be hard to beat a food fight though.

Angel looked around as she heard her sister voice. "Yeah I'd love to be your partner." It was settled then, AJ had a partner. All she needed to do now was to actually pick a potion. She smiled at her sister. "Yup, that's pretty much it. Sounds wicked, doesn't it?" Okay, so she knew there was no way that her sister was going to agree with that statement, but AJ thought it was pretty dang wicked.
"Don't worry, Ang. It's not like the professor will let us die or anything." That would look really bad on his resume, and surely Hogwarts would fire him. "Gunna grab a bottle real quick." AJ walked over and picked up bottle number two, and brought it back to her desk.
"I wonder what this one does." There was only one was to find out. "On the count of three?" They could both swallow the contents together, and face whatever it was as a team. Of course AJ was mainly doing this for Angel's benefit. AJ wasn't at all concerned.
Maddie followed Cinnamon up to the front of the room and looked at the various bottles curiously. She noted which the older girl took and then opted to choose the first one in the set for herself. "Cheers?" A small smirk played on her lips as she very carefully clinked her bottle against the Gryffindor's and then it was opened.
"It smells." Like as soon as it was opened, the fumes filled Maddie's nostrils, making her nose wrinkle. She didn't let this stop her as she gulped it down, though. As soon as she had, it felt like she'd ran a mile. Holy cow, what WAS this stuff?
"We should-" Maddie placed a hand on Culloden's desk, propping herself up. "We should get back to our seats." The second year glanced over at where her things were set up and she looked as if she was going to cry. Her seat was SO far away. SO far. Would Cinnamon carry her?

Before she drank hers. We'll it was sweetish. She blinked and a huge grin spread on her face. What in the world, she was just soooo happy. The happiest she had ever been.
She turned to Maddie when she spoke. "Yeah, we should the sooner we get started the better. You alright there?" She asked her noticing that she was propping herself up on Culloden's desk. Cinna would sing to her if it made Maddie feel better. Maybe her cheerfulness would rub off on Maddie.
The Gryffindor started to head back over to her work area. But she kept an eye on the little Ravenclaw. She really needed to get her antidote started for her.

Angel would let her sister count first because well her sister was a lot better that her with nerves and she was actually starting to shake about things, she had no idea what she had picked but it wasn't going to be funny if she embarrassed herself in front of people.

"M'just SO tired," Maddie replied quietly. She straightened out again and stifled a yawn, eyes on the older girl. Hopefully this potion wasn't a sleeping one because it'd be a BIT difficult to brew while she was passed out, JUST saying.
Following along at a snail's pace, the second year headed back to her station. She was aware of others in the room, especially Gabe and that crazy Gryffindor girl who wanted to shove Kyroh's head into a toilet. They were snogging. IN CLASS. Was that allowed? She had so many questions and wanted to take NOTES on all the things but even the THOUGHT of doing so made her exhausted. She couldn't even manage mental notes at the moment. It was all too hard.
Collapsing into her seat, Maddie slumped down and rested her head on the table top. She just needed a minute, okay? Something she relayed to Cinna by holding a very weak finger up. One finger to show one minute and BOY was that finger heavy. Her hand fell to her desk shortly after, her arm needing a rest. Perhaps this class was going to be harder than she thought.

Eventually she sat up straight again, knowing the clock was ticking. She turned in her seat to find her partner because they had work to do. "How do you feel?" She needed clues if she was going to brew an antidote. Clues she'd need to write down. With a quill. Her hand hurt just thinking about it.
Sophie hated partner work in potions class, unless she got FIRST CHOICE of partner and got to pick someone before anyone else did, but it never worked that way. The first people who came to mind as suitable candidates for partnering were, in order of who came to mind first: Tobes, Maddie, Kevin, Jasmine, Lux, Gabe, and Grayson. But... before she could make her move, each of those people were PAIRING OFF with someone already.
She couldn't even keep her list straight in her head - the options were disappearing fast, and in a moment of panic, Soph pointed at Slytherin's Mighty Mite, Dot. "Dot." That was her choice. "Partner? You'd be in good hands - I'll whip up your antidote more efficiently than anyone else could." Plus, a good way to be one of Culloden's favorites was to work with Culloden's top favorite, wasn't it? Soph wiggled her eyebrows at the girl, hoping she would be GAME, though she wasn't entirely confident that Dot would be great with the antidote for whatever poison she ended up with... that would be okay, though, wouldn't it? Culloden absolutely had plenty of proper antidotes as back-ups for this activity and he wouldn't let her die or anything.
She DID have high hopes for Dot, though.

Mandrake, yes! Cosgrach smiled all of them, not realising Kevin didn't raise his hand. "That's right." And what he had in mind as an answer, but he wanted to hear others' answers too.

Cosgrach chuckled. "I suppose so, if you'll brew the antidote." But if it was bezoar? Not so much. Still, he nodded at the Hufflepuff, because he was still right.

Again, "if you'll brew the antidote." But he smiled at the girl. She was still right, clean equipment was among the most important.

"Knowledge, exactly!" You always had to know what you were doing in potions, or else, it would be disastrous. He smiled and nodded at them both. Good answer.

Angel meant "ingredient" too, right? In any case, he smiled at both of them. "That's right. Substances that fight the poison."

Another out of the box thinking. "For magical poisons, yes. There are also some muggle ways." Since they were at a magical school discussing magic, though, she still got a smile, meaning he liked her answer.

Cosgrach chuckled again.
"You're right, yeah. It's all essential for something as serious as an antidote." He liked how he thought.

Hmm...
"Because it's used in Antidotes to Common Poisons?" He nodded. "Good try." Unicorns had some restorative properties, yes.

Cosgrach nodded and smiled. "That's a good answer." That every antidote was different and all. "Water or some other base, yes." Good one.
He looked at the blackboard briefly to check for mistakes, and grinned innocently at the class.
"Now that we know more about the poisons and antidotes, let's move onto the final." He ceremoniously moved to his desk and lifted the blanket. Below were small bottles of 5 different potions - or rather, poisons in this case. The bottles were all black not to reveal what was inside them, and were labelled with only numbers.
"Partner up, get a bottle from here and drink it. I promise none of them will kill or incapacitate too much. Then, while fighting the effect of your potion, I want you to discover what your partner has consumed and brew an antidote for it. But do not give it to them without my approval. When you are done, bring them to me first." Easy enough, wasn't it? HEHE.
He sat down on his chair, very pleased with himself, and watched them.
OOC Explanation The activity is what Cosgrach said: partner up, pick a number and drink it, then brew the antidote for your partner. Please title your first post with which potion you have chosen. I'll grade it mostly depending on how well you RP your potion's effect and trying to brew an antidote for your partner. The IC success only accounts for 5 of the overall 25 points you can get from this activity, so please do not worry about your character's succeeding to brew a fully complete antidote. To get credit, you should post at least 4 times. There is no maximum limit. The deadline is November 19, 23.59 GMT/18.59 EST. I looked up the antidotes from Harry Potter Wiki and SS Potions Recipe Book; however, if you have a different source, I'm also open to them as long as you tell me where you got it from. The list of potions:
#1: Fatiguing Fusion
#2: Love Potion (the person will fall in love with the first person s/he sees instead of the brewer)
#3: Physically Weakening Potion
#4: (Too Much) Happiness Draught
#5: Common Poison (should cause a headache, light tremor to hands and nausea)

But then he heard a yawn. He snapped his head back to Lux and narrowed his eyes. "Don't you dare yawn! you're just jealous because you're not as beautiful and pretty as Cinna!" He totally misinterpreted her yawn.

Confused, Lux stared at Kevin with wide eyes. Or well, eyes as wide as she could get when she was practically drooping over the desk. What was Kevin saying about her bestie? Of course she agreed that Cinna was awesome, but Kevin was acting as if he was in lo- Oooh. Love potion. Despite her sleepiness - or maybe because of it - Lux found it hilarious how HE of all people was acting like a love sick teenager.
"Yep, I'm totally jealous," she lied as she slowly got up to her feet and stretched in an attempt to wake herself up again. Really she wasn't jealous though she did agree that she wasn't as pretty or beautiful as Cinna. But now it was time for her to start brewing an antidote. Chop chop! Eyes to Kevin because he needed to get to work too.
She slowly slowly got her cauldron set up and cleaned with Scourgify before slipping on her clean gloves. Giving another yawn, she wondered again why she couldn't just sleep it off.
Mel grumbled and looked at the professor, wondering if he wasnt really this stupid and annoying. Thornton had been minding his own business, looking around the room trying to find a partner. He had confidence in his own brewing skills, but didn't necessarily trust another to fix him an antidote. He was seeking someone he thought was competent when he realized that nearly everyone had paired off.
His thoughts were interrupted by the older Ravenclaw who had so abruptly approached. "Um, yes, alright." He didn't see that he had a choice, and given that she had asked, however rudely, it would be impolite to refuse.
"Let's go get our potions, then."

Cosgrach leaned back on his chair, and didn't even try to hide his laughter at people. He was going to thoroughly enjoy this lesson, he could tell. He watched, took some notes of his own about who drank which potion, and checked his emergency potions in case something went wrong -

Cosgrach didn't know Gabe and Zahra's relationship, but he could tell Gabe was the worst introvert, so this whole kissing right in the middle of the class? Priceless. Cosgrach wished he could take a photo, but he didn't need to - they would remember this.
He had to intervene before it got out of hand, though. He got up with two bottles of a terrible odour - it wouldn't cancel the love potion, but it would make them feel a bit less... hot and clear their heads a little.
"The best couple at school!" he announced cheerfully, and while they were distracted, he nearly shoved the bottles up their noses to make sure they smelt it.

Why hadn't she noticed how handsome Kevin Hirase was before now? Sure he was a little young, but age was nothing but a number. With great difficulty, he manage to tear her eyes away and focus back on Zhenya....for now.
Zhenya was glad Jasmine had the same distaste for the poison. Maybe they had got the same one? Okay, she told herself, you can do this. The Eagle said she could do it, so she could. And she would!
"Um, I just feel a little," yawn, "poorly," hiccup, "but I'll be okay." Hmm… she felt great? Just Zhenya's luck to pick the sick poison, and not the happy poison. At least maybe Jasmine would feel good enough that she could make a potion for her.
She pulled out some parchment and a pen and asked "What are you feeling exactly?" to try and write down her symptoms so she could think of what poison it might be. 'Feels good,' Zhenya wrote down. "Anything else?" Zhenya saw that Jasmine wasn't looking at her. What was she looking at? "What is it?" She asked, thinking maybe someone had been showing signs worse than she was of the poison.

It took Agatha a while to decide whether she would take part on this activity or not, but then she remembered it was their final, so she would have to do it. Ugh. One step at a time, though, and Agatha started to think of a plan to not have to drink the poison.
She would pick the bottle first, though, just to make everyone believe she would actually take it. The ballerina then grabbed one of the bottles and stared at it, wondering what that would do to her if she ever drank that.
Returning to her desk, she eyed the little firstie she was sitting with and decided it wouldn't be a good idea to partner up with her, because she was a firstie, after all, and would probably not be able to brew the antidote properly, which meant that if Agatha did actually end up being forced to drink the poison, it would be a horrible experience since they would have no antidote by the end of the class.
Which meant she would have to go with a Ravenclaw, because surely those people would brew Potions properly. Although they could be extremely stupid. Clara Wilde didn't seem like the stupid type of eagle, so she could deal with her. "Hi." She said as she pushed her things closer to the girl. "Want to be my partner?"

Right...the final part of the class...the FINAL.
The nervous butterflies started to return yet Benny was trying so hard to focus on what needed to be done for the assignment. Partner up...pick a potion or two...drink it and see what happens...brew something to fix it. Ugg, he could only imaging what was in each of the five bottles they were being presented with, each in turn presenting any number of symptoms or troubles in reaction.
He was drawn out by Adi's voice, taking a second to recognize what he was saying. "Yeah...sure." At least his best friend would know what to do with whatever he himself got...right. Said friend soon walking away and making Benny wonder what he was. Oh right, they needed to pick a potion. Either a different one for each of them, or the same depending on what they chose. The fourth year followed him up to the front, his gaze scanning the options and softly sighing. In the end he just reach forward randomly and took one of the samples to return to his desk.

She swished the contents in the vial while looking at it.
She looked at her partner then pinched her nose, downing it. She made a face and waited for the potion to started. She felt a little bubbly already and she tried to bite back a giggle. The corner of her lips started to flicker into a smile. Melek bit back a smile and tried to focus on her partner. What did he pick... She eyed him and prepared her book to go flipping through it for the antidote.

Yuuuuuckkkkk.... "What is THAT, Professor? Oh hey while you're here....." Zahra had been about to ask ole man Potions if he wanted to perform a marriage ceremony but .... maybe... man that smell in her nose was LINGERING. Her nose scrunched up and she rubbed at it a few times.

Zahra shrugged. "You're right, Gabe. We'll wait." Maybe for now they could just hold hands. She took his, swung it beside her, and was happy happy to GABE'S partner. She still loved him. Still kind of wanted to snog him. But ...hehe... they had something to DO didn't they? She didn't know what. Or really care. As long as Gabe was hers, Zahra was happy. "Hey Gabe?"
