3 - Activity 1 - Astronaut Training SPOILER!!: Soph Tobias had been vaguely aware of Soph racing up her ladder out the corner of his eye, but he kept on up his in the same pace. A few weeks (or maybe months?) back, he might had attempted to race her up to the top, but today he was quite content with merely focusing his efforts on scaling the tall structure. He clung onto that top rung and looked down at the muggle attendant, listening to her explain the process of what was now going to happen, with the whole balancing out his weight thing. As she spoke, and he nodded, Toby's foot jiggled on the rung below. Eventually, he felt a shift in his weight as he moved and the harness held him up, and knew at once that he was now 'weightless'. Without so much as a tentative check to see how it felt, Toby just went right ahead and pushed his legs off from the big yellow frame, so he was horizontally dangling in the air. "This is pretty neat," the Hufflepuff remarked, wasting no time in 'climbing' his way back down towards the floor using only his hands, as though he were on some form of vertical monkey bars. Soph seemed to really be having fun with this, and Toby did think it was cool too (though he couldn't help but silently compare it to the thrill of riding on a fast broom) so he grinned right back over at her and pulled his way back to the top again. Once up there, Toby sort of pulled himself up and down between just two or three rungs, preferring to be way up and as far away from the floor as possible, to heighten the experience (no pun intended). While doing this up at the top of the ladder, Toby's gaze drifted so he was briefly looking around at the rest of the room. No Hogwarts related disasters yet; that was good. |
Post 4- Moon Walk! *Too Lazy to Quote* Kace chuckled at Norah's reaction to being on the moonwalk. He smiled and laughed at her adorableness. It was totally wicked he had to admit. "Did it make you feel like you were walking on the moon?" he asked her. He just had to know. After Norah's turn he noticed Lux went on and smiled. He saw her reaction and was laughing as well. People seemed to be really enjoying it. He smiled at her question and nodded. "It was totally wicked.." he winked at Norah using her phrase. He heard Grayson mention something about pictures and saw they could take some. Hmmm...now that didn't seem like a bad idea. "Hey Lux let's take a picture together.." he pointed to the little camera thing near the attraction. "We can be like real astronauts.." he smiled. |
Post 3- Finishing up Astronaut Training Jasmine had experienced the out of control spaceship. Now it was time to try a little weightlessness. Walking over to that area, she looked up and saw large oversized, yellow ladder like thing. This would be interesting. Looking a little closer, Jasmine took in the essence of the weightless experience. Jasmine had to try this so she joined the line.....and waited.....and waited. Finally it was her turn and she stepped up to the ladder. Then the Space Center worker strapped her into a gigantic harness. Curious to see how this whole process would work, Jasmine put her hands on the nearest rung. As she prepared to climb, she was lifted up by the harness. Jasmine held onto the rungs to keep from "floating into outer space". The harness lifted her up and moved her around, defying gravity. Now this was cool. When she got to the top, Jasmine looked around. She saw several of her classmates doing various things in the room. Before she knew it, she was coming back down to earth as the harness lowered her. That was fun, but now Jasmine had to decide what to do next. |
Planetarium + Benny and Gabe ^_^ It was definitely a Ravenclaw thing, Adi decided. They had soooo much knowledge. Probably because they spent so much time reading. Hmmm...Gabe would be a very helpful study buddy. Well, he knew whom he needed to go to for help with anything academic. Awesome! The Claw was coming along with them. Adi hurried along after Benny and with the help of their maps, they soon came upon the planetarium. Once inside, he plopped down next to Benny. "I can't waaaait to see this,'' the Puffer whispered excitedly. "Aliens do exist, you know.'' Yep. They did. He watched, a tad bit impatiently, for the other people who were filing in to get settled. He need not be impatient for much longer though and soon the show was getting started. |
Cafe with Hady & Maddie, post a billion (7? 8?) Quote:
Thornton squeezed his eyes shut as he grimaced, forcing himself to decide because taking too long to decide would be a decision in and of itself because she'd be too far away if he waited too long and.... "I'm going to go after her," he said to Hady, opening his eyes. She was... welcome to come too, of course, but he didn't want to impose or ruin her field trip. Grabbing his bag, he slung it over his shoulder and left his ginger ale behind, before running after Maddie, fast as he could. |
Post #3 - Astronaut Training Text Cut: Toberson "It IS." Soph was having a grand old time and wished the harness was strung up on her differently so she could try to do somersaults and be all kinds of impressive, but for now, she was enjoying the feeling of gravity not having an effect on her. She continued going up and down, being impressive in her own right, until she caught on that Tobes wasn't having as much fun as she was. Luckily, before Soph could say something to him but after she had stopped to frown at him, the attendants were telling them time was up and to make her way to the top rung and hold tight. She did as she was told, already mentally planning what they could do as their next part that hopefully Tobes would like more - he probably would brighten up if they did the spinny thing, wouldn't he? How could he NOT have fun with that? Soph followed the next instructions given to her and climbed her way back down to the bottom of the ladder, letting the woman unstrap her harness and free her from the rope system and waited for Tobes to be free as well before grabbing up her bag and slinging it over her shoulder. "Wanna do the spinny thing?" She didn't know EXACTLY what it was for just yet, but they had pamphlets that could tell them all about it, yep. |
Planetarium Show: Post 1 / Adi and Benny Gabe blushed, following behind the two boys....taking the stray picture here and there. He found he actually enjoyed sharing knowledge with them, simply smiling to himself as they continued on their way. The Planetarium....Would he be allowed to photograph it....? Gabe thought it'd be a valuable entry in the coming scrapbook. ......and aliens? Adi got a surprised half smile. "I think they exist, too."....because it was a very large universe, with many unexplored galaxies. Humans couldn't be so arrogant to think they were the only beings capable of creating complex social structures and civilizations. Gabe looked to Benny. "How long, um, do you think this show is......?".....because he wanted to try to see everything the Space Center had to offer..........and the show was starting. . . ......JUPITER'S MOON! Europa. That....was an interesting....theory. Also, he hadn't known about the ocean of salt water beneath its icy layer....Huh. |
4 - Activity 1 - Astronaut Training SPOILER!!: Soph By this point, Toby was just sort of enjoying being able to float around, and was occasionally letting go of the ladder to push himself awaaaaaay and then come back again. Although, it made the harness more uncomfortable when he swung around like that, so he stopped that pretty sharpish. But it didn't matter, 'cause it looked like their time was up. Toby looked down when he heard the voices call up to them, gave a nod, and held onto that top rung whilst they did their muggle magic to re-gravity-fy them or whatever. Then he was climbing back down the ladder properly and tugging his way out of the harness to make way for the next person. As he left the area, Toby took off his helmet and set it down before rejoining Soph. "Sure," he said with a nod, following her over to it. "I was looking at the pamphlet and stuff earlier. Apparently it recreates the feeling of a capsule spinning out of control. Guess they have to know who's got the stomach for something like that before sending them up there." Literally. And it LOOKED like there wasn't anyone waiting right now, though there was someone spinning around in there right now. Toby looked at Sophie while they stood there, waiting to go next. "D'you wanna go first, or me?" |
Post 4 Planetarium SPOILER!!: CINNA The Gryffindor tilted his head a little. So she didn't think Aliens could be out there, huh? Zander didn't really know for sure-- of course-- but he considered the possibility. And if they were real that'd be SUPER cool. Unless they were actually evil and trying to takeover Hogwarts by possessing Professors to make them act all weird like Professor Flamsteed and Professor Morgan that one time. But... That probably had nothing to do with Aliens. Zander would like to draw notice to the fact that one particular Professor has shown no symptoms herself, cough cough Professor Romanos. Just saying. Ahem. Back to the movie. He was totally paying attention to that. It was kind of hard not to when the ENTIRE ceiling was a part of the show, you know? So he just sat back and watched the rest of it and tried to think anymore about the alien thing. Although, the movie was probably trying to get them to think of that. Probably the purpose of it and all. Especially because the title kind of implied it, but either way he was watching yup. Zander chuckled along to Cinna's story because a frisbee as a flying saucer? It was a mistake he'd probably make too. LOL. Again, the Gryffindor let his iattention go back to the movie and not before long it was over. Awh. It was actually pretty entertaining. Welp. And... What was that growling? Of course. Must be the stomach. "Where are you headed now, Cinna? I think I might go to the cafe!" |
Post #4 - Astronaut Training Text Cut: Tobes Soph took Tobes' hand in hers as soon as they joined back up together, even though they had a very short walk over to the line for the spinning chair part of the exhibit, digging out her own pamphlet from her bag with her free hand. She peeked at the Astronaut Training's summary just as Toby explained, and she watched him elaborate on it with an admiring grin on her face. "That's cool." But it WASN'T for Soph. As soon as she said it, she remembered how less than a half hour ago she had felt a bit dizzy from the portkey - she couldn't even imagine what the spinning chair would do to her, that had to be WAY worse, didn't it? And she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of her classmates and Muggles alike - just in case she WOULD get sick from the spinning chair, Soph was already leaning toward sitting this one out. And they were up next. Oop. "...You should go ahead. It'll be fun. Try not to throw up, okay?" She gave him a nudge of encouragement and ever-so caaaasually moved to step out of line. Better to be safe this time around and not risk feeling sick the whole trip than get sick and find out she wasn't astronaut material, hm? Tobes could tell her all about how it felt anyway. She gave him a BIG OL' THUMBS UP. YOU GO BEST FRIEND. |
#5 Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium OKAY OKAY!!!! He conceded. This was.... the BEST show room thing place cinema that he'd ever seen. It was like... EVERYWHERE. THE SCREEN WAS EVERYWHERE. On top of that, the whole space and aliens thing was even cooler!!!!!! Zeke relaxed in his seat, peering around at the shapes moving overhead and in front, it was like being IN space. He was sure of it. This was both stimulating and also incredibly relaxing, especially for his arms and legs and the pit of his stomach in light of the training he'd undergone. He could totes do this astronaut stuff. Yep. When he grew up, he would be an astronaut!!!!! |
All you moon walkers - Post 3 Everybody was down for a moon walk off. Well, she never did ask Angel, the professor or any of the other newcomers, but there was enough people here to get the job done. AJ was excited to show everybody how it was done. Lux seemed really nice. AJ smiled while she laughed. "I'm sure you will too." What was there not to love? They were both pretty awesome people. On the other hand, Lux seemed like a cool friend to have as well. Now she had to wait her turn. Kace was going to go first, followed by Lux. AJ was not usually a patient person, but it was something that she was working on. Kace busted out some pretty sweet moves, and AJ beamed as he came off. "Good luck, Lux." AJ watched on as the older hufflepuff girl had her turn. Awesome. She was pretty good at this too. "Now it's my turn." Watch and learn. |
Planetarium + Benny and Gabe + Zeke mention ^_^ Oh looky! It was Zeke! Adi waved in the Lion's direction but he was unsure if he would be noticed in the darkened room. And Gabe believed in aliens too? This was so cool! The Claw just kept on getting more awesome in Adi's books. "I want to meet an alien someday,'' Adi told Gabe. "It would be so cool if we could take a trip to space to visit them.'' Hehe. Did Gabe think he was crazy? Because he was. Sort of. "Not sure,'' was Adi's response but not much more could be said for the show was starting! .......................... Wasn't technology totally wonderful? The Hufflepuff really found it fascinating how the robot was deployed on that planet. Maybe he should consider a career in this field. Surely he would be able to meet an alien then. |
2 - Rocket Tower Ian had finished his time at the astrobot mining area. He had done what he could to gather the 'moon rocks' and after some time, it just became tedious. It would be one thing if he were actually mining moon rocks, but as it were, he was just playing with an RC car. He started to wander some more and decided to go check out the Rocket Tower. Looking at the brochure that he carried with him, Ian noticed there was some actual moon rocks on display and he wondered what it would be like to actually hold a moon rock. His imagination began to run a little while and he thought if he were alone how easy it would be to try and manufacture an 'accident' that would enable him to get into the display and actually hold the rock. He walked through the tower, deliberately on the way toward the moon rocks. |
Planetarium - Adi and Gabe SPOILER!!: Adi and Gabe Benny offered a small smile at Adi's whisper. But he just looked between the two other boys as they talked about aliens. Benny himself wasn't sure on that topic but was reserving judgement by staying quiet. Not that that itself would seem odd since he wasn't the biggest conversationalist anyway. "It didn't say..." he remarked answering Gabe's question about the length of the video though. Surely it couldn't be that long and as he struggled a little to see his watch, it looked like they still had plenty of time before the return portkey. No worries. And then the show began, pretty much cutting off all speech and the sound of peoples voices, other than the narrator's own. Benny had to admit, the digital photos were both beautiful and fascinating as they appeared on the dome. This was all the other space that they only really touched upon in regular astronomy classes. |
Cafe/Planetarium - Thornton/Maddie Post 6 Well alright then. Hadleigh most certainly hadn't been expecting that. First she was enjoying her ginger ale and speaking with Thornton and then Maddie/Goldylocks had shown up. Trying to be nice she waved her over and it was confusion from there. Still trying to make out what happened she sat there for a moment just watching their backs as they disappeared into the crowd of people around them. Not sure whether to follow them or continue on her own Hady finished her drink in thought. Getting up she grabbed her bag and throw out her garbage. She'd go on to the Planetarium alone. There was no point in both her and Thornton chasing around after Maddie. If he found the girl maybe they'd show up at the show. Making her way to the show she slipped inside the room just moment before it was to start and quickly found herself a seat. This place was awesome! Bouncing slightly in her seat with excitement she glanced around to see who else might have went to the show and saw several kids there. Grinning slightly she settled into her seat and waited for it to start. |
Suggesting the Cafe + Benny & Gabe Annnnd it was over. Man! Could it not have gone on for a few minutes more? Adi would have loved to see more awesome technology. Meh. Cue the little rumbling in his stomach. Or maybe it was a good thing the show was over. He was hungry! "That was cool, wasn't it?'' he asked Gabe and Benny as he led the way out of the planetarium. Did Gabe have any interesting fun facts to add? Because he had two very interested dudes who would listen to everything. "Okay, so I'm hungrier now so let's go to the Cafe, please. Of course you can still come with us, Gabe.'' Even knowledge seeking Ravenclaws needed time to eat. Hehe. |
Finishing Planetarium - Adi and Gabe Creative graphics and images continued to be shown all around the scenic room, the fourth year needing to twist his head at times to try and see all that he could. Occasionally the seats were moved or at least appeared as they did to Benny to make it easier to catch everything that was being presented by everyone in the audience no matter where they were seated in the room. Too busy paying attention to what was being shown, the Gryffindor wasn't even thinking about when it might be over, but eventually it was. The lights slowly but surely coming back on to the dim half-level that they had been when he, Adi and Gabe had first entered the domed room. Benny got up from his seat and moved with his best friend and their knowledgeable companion to the exit as they were instructed to do so. As they renetered the surrounding portion of the museum, he found himself blinking to readjust to the brighter level of light. "Yeah, it was," Benny agreed with a nod. And a glance at his watch confirmed they hadn't spent too much time in there with the show. Good news for them. Adi's stomach played by Adi himself spoke up and the Gryffindor wasn't going to protest them moving on. "Alright...then that's where we go," he said before adding as an afterthought, "we can always come back if there's anything else to see." |
Planetarium [1] Text Cut: Well, oops? Agreed. Out of control spaceships are not a good thing. Excellent, then! She now had the opportunity to cool down a bit from all the adrenaline-inducing activities. "Got it!" There was no need to look at the pamphlet or ask for directions or anything, the layout was fairly simple and she had a good sense of direction. All they basically did was go back to where they came from, sort of, and that was all. Actually, she was rather glad she was sitting now, it was very comfortable, really, compared to the straps and orb they just came from. But she had to squint at her bestie for a second there. Was she for real? How could she ask such a question? Granted, she didn't know if the Star Trek universe was something the Gryffindor was familiar with, but surely she must have heard the word from one or two classes back at Hogwarts. There will always be an idiot suggesting aliens were behind it. Or at least thinking it. "I believe the movie will tell you, eventually," she finally said, laughing softly. "Pay attention." A little bit of it never hurt anyone, and it helped the rest. |
Moonwalk post #3 Quote:
So he liked her comment? It was pretty brilliant. If you ask her. She nodded. Awesome people should stick together. "We'll have to work on that." Yep they would have to catch up and eat candy like they used to. Just no brownies this time. And he better not bring it up. Or he'd find something worst than a love potion in his brownies. Cinna followed suit after Grayson. Grabbing some of the gear and put it on. She waved at Lux and Kace and two of the triplets Flamsteed also got a wave and a huge grin. This was so awesome and he was awesome. Turn back to Grayson when she heard him ask about a picture alright. "Alright!" She headed over toward the exhibit and strapped herself in. Ready to do the moon walk. |
Suggestion for Gabeeee <3 (still at ze Planetarium) Stomach...grumbling... Hungry Hufflepuff here :x3: "Tell you what, Gabe. We wouldn't take long at the Cafe. After a stop there, we'll go visit wherever you want.'' It was only fair, right? The Ravenclaw had come along with them even if he wanted to visit the Planetarium so Adi didn't mind going some place Gabe chose. Ohhh. And maybe they could get some souvenirs while they're at it? Adi would like more than memories from this trip. |
MOON WALKING! *waves to all that said hi* Sorry for the delay <3 *quick post* SPOILER!!: you guys ^_^ Oh sweet solstice. How could he have missed so many of his own students present!? "HELLO ALL!" he greeted gleefully with an enthusiastic wave as he took to another big jump on the "moon." He threw the muggle who was currently manning the station a quick glance and a salute. "My students, Johnathan. As promised." He then turned his attention back to his students, in particular the Valentine triplets sans their Ravenclaw companion. "Quite right, Miss Valentine," he said towards the one named Angel. "Got all caught up in all the excitement and missed a letter. Initially, he and NASA tried to cover up the little mistake and blamed it on stati - weeeeeeeeeeee," he continued as he took another large leap, posed with a opened mouth GRIN, and began to slowly come back down. Apparently his time jumping around the moon was done as Jonathan was coming over to undo the equipment. There may have been some slight manly wibbling before he continued with his impromptu lecture. "Ahem, on static. However, the recordings made skeptics out of everyone and, eventually, Armstrong himself admitted to misspeaking. But, really, when one looks back on that historical moment, what do we really remember? That he forget the letter a or that he was the first man on the moon? The tremendous scientific and cultural importance of his achievement dwarfs his minor verbal slip-up. Besides, it remains one of the world's most famous sentences over 100 years later!" Airey probably, as professional as he tried to keep himself, would most like have botched it up. Must worse probably. If Airey Leighton Flamsteed had been the first man on the moon, well, 'stellar' would have been in the history books. He was still holding on to a hope there...a fleeting one... but... "Miss Valentine, are you alright sticking with Miss Valentine for now?" he asked as he stood up and walked away from the moon simulation equipment and towards the photo stand. "I have a few matters I need to look into and I am afraid I cannot take students with me. Business matters with the Centre." OOC: HI GUYS! So, travel stress and preparation is taking more out of me than I thought it would so I will NOT be closing this field trip thread up on the 4th (my TODAY) like I initially said. My new tentative wrap up/closing time will be Friday, November 7th at 10 pm PST |
5 - Activity 1 - Astronaut Training SPOILER!!: Soph Toby was watching the person already in the spinny thing go round and round and round, a look of intense interest on his face. It looked fast from HERE, so he could only imagine what it was like to be in there. One thing was for sure, Toby was DEFINITELY looking forward to this one, wasn't all that worried about motion sickness at all; he'd skipped breakfast today, in any case, so he'd be fine. As the other person exited and the attendants beckoned the next person up, Toby heard Soph tell him to go first. He looked at her with a grin. "Me? Throw up? Stomach of steel over here, Soph," he informed her, noting how she was moving out of line. Was she not gonna try it? Well, that was fine too. Maybe it wasn't for everyone's tastes. Toby stepped on up and sat himself in the chair, looking up at Soph to smile at her as he got strapped into the strange apparatus. And then it was starting, and he was moving, slowly at first, and steadily speeding up... faster and faster, spinning around and around and making everything around him look like one big ridiculous bluuuurrrrrr. And on and on it went, faster and faster. And it was crazy cool, but Toby couldn't help but feel slightly weirded out by the fact that the world was moving around him so fast and yet he was completely stationary. But he made of the most of it while he was up there, spinning around and around, super duper fast. |
Angel was listening to the Professor as he spoke... well that did make a lot of sense and she didn't think that it would be right to let one small mistake ruin someone's life because well it had been done before by loads of people and no one had spoken of it as much as they did with this. Angel felt sorry for the guy because if she had been the first on the moon she would have totally been crazy and thank you... thank you would have been said plus there would have been a huge speech that would have probably lasted an hour. Angel was strapped up... now she was a bit scared, the Professor had gone first and nothing had happened. WOOOOOOOW!! Angel started to bounce around, this was so much fun. Not as much fun as looking after plants but if that didn't work out or the exploration with Professor Bentley didn't work out she'd love to be a tester of these rides, someone had to do it right? WEEEEEEEEEE! Angel was enjoying herself... but she knew other people wanted a go so she had one last go and then she stopped and waited to be released by the guy who had strapped her in. "Where...." Angel was about to speak when the Professor spoke... she was being DUMPED by the Professor!! She was being DUMPED, ANGEL VALENTINE was being dumped like a cat on someone else? Oh this wasn't cool she was too good to be dumped by anyone. The Professor would be getting a big fat ZERO if this had been a date... she had blown off her own boyfriend Benny to make sure Flamsteed didn't do anything he couldn't remember and this was the thanks she was getting. "AJ can I hang with you guys?" Angel asked her sister as she realised there was no use arguing with the Professor... He was on a mission and well it seems she wasn't allowed to be in on it. She smiled at Lux as she waited for her sister to answer. |
Post 4- The Moon Walk......Heehee Having finished up her astronaut training, Jasmine headed over to the Moon Walk. For some reason, she had the sudden urge to go all Michael Jackson and moonwalk to the Moon Walk. Fortunately, she resisted that urge and joined the line. Checking her brochure, Jasmine realized that this exhibit had a photo op. Oh and they could dress up as astronauts. Well if she was going to do this, she might as well go all out. When she had the opportunity, Jasmine put on the astronaut suit. Then she was all dressed up and ready to go. At last it was her turn. Jasmine walked up to the moon walk chair cage and sat down. Yet another Space Center employee proceeded to strap her into the seat. Feeling nice and secure Jasmine prepared to jump.......and so she did. Jasmine jumped and bounced and moved all over the moon. Not sure when her picture would be taken, she tried not to look too crazy. This was so much fun. Jasmine was really enjoying herself. Moon jumping was so.......liberating. Maybe they could get one of these set ups in the a Room of Requirement. Now that would be something. Before she knew it, her turn was over. The muggle worker came to unhook her and Jasmine climbed out of the seat. She was satisfied with her "ride" and it was time to move on now. The big question was, try another activity or visit the cafe next? |
