Astronaut Training Quote:
Despite the loud noises coming from all the directions, Kyroh had heard Dot call out. Pausing, he took one last glance at the yellow ladders before looking back in her direction. Vomiting wasn't cool. He didn't want to do it. But she couldn't. Walking back over to her direction he plopped himself on the floor and gazed up. Was she really going to throw up? "DON'T GET TOO SICK WE HAVE TO BOUNCE ON THE MOON!" Just in case she forgot. |
Astro-nuts Quote:
And then he started going blurry, and her stomach was up in her throat, and Dot held on tight to the chair and SQUEAAAAAAAAAALED like she was possibly being murdered or else tickled to death. Whichever. It was actually very possible that throwing up might be in her future. "IWANTTOBOUNCEONTHEMOON." LIke... let her off, okay? |
Cafe - for anyone Thornton was... not feeling quite well. They'd touched down just fine, but he found himself a little queasy and his clothes just a bit wrinkled. So once he had surrendered his ticket and made his way in to the centre, he could not entertain at all the thought of any activity, at all. So to the cafeteria it was, for a ginger ale to settle his stomach. He looked around, hoping to spy someone also headed in that direction, unwilling to break Flamsteed's rule about sticking with a buddy. Trying to smooth out the wrinkles in his shirt with the palm of his hand, Thornton swallowed hard and scanned the rapidly dispersing group. |
Heading over to the planetarium So? They did make it the National Space Centre, and not outer space or somewhere else. Cinna opened up the brochure and looked it over again. Now what was she going to do first? Mmmmm... The planetarium? Yes that sounded great. She headed down that way toward the planetarium. Altough wasn't sure exactly what a planetarium was. Maybe there would be plants from different planets. Nope that was not it. She read more into the brochure. She had only looked at the pictures in the brochure. This was going to be fun. Yeah? Now what did she need to do find a seat? Merlin this was than picking out a seat for classes. |
Astronaut Training - ATX [2] Text Cut: Lex XD Truth be told, she could think of a couple more places that could held that 'Greatest place on Earth' title, Lex. Granted, all of them would be Astronomy-related facilities, so, no big deal. But she was just as excited for FREEDOM. Albeit, it didn't really feel like it because she could still see a couple Hogwartians here and there. Like the Scabior kid. Disillusionment charms are out of the question, correct? Okay, you know what? Her best friend was actually distracting, so the Scabior kid was safe. Lotus laughed at Lex's words, "Right, and the closest I'll get to it as well, as I'm not planning on heading out there." It would be brilliant, though, so if the opportunity presented itself, she wouldn't say no. "As least I'll be in a similar department." Space-wise. ATX, "Here we are!" The seventh year wondered for a moment what Airey could feel like when reminded of all of this... then she remembered his current occupation and stopped. Everything reminds him of space, so, never mind. Now, where to first? Weightlessness or capsule or space exploration? A better question would be why weren't they brought here sooner?? |
Astronaut Training [2] SPOILER!!: Bestie! Was Lottie still noticing their classmates? Was she getting all distracted by them? That'd have been a pity considering how easy Lex tuned them out. With a mind like hers, the others might as well not have been there. Today, she was not Head Girl. She would take no one to the bathroom if they needed help (nope so good thing the Headmistress wasn't here to ask AGAIN) and she would watch out for no one but herself and Lottie. Responsibility was the fastest killer of freedom and the Gryffindor wouldn't let that happen. Not even. "That's where you're lucky, even if you don't actually go out there. You could still try out this stuff whenever. I'd visit you way more often if you have one of those," her finger pointed to the orb that simulated a spaceship out of control, "at your University." Not saying she wouldn't already visit often enough but yeah, if it had one of those it'd be something to schedule in during her training. "That first!" She said, pulling on Lottie's arm lightly as a means of tugging her toward where people would be strung up. This then the out of control ship could be done. Lex stood waiting for them to have her all strapped up and ready to go with Lottie. How did this actually work.....? She watched curiously while she waited for Lottie to be ready too. |
The moon walk! - Norah and AJ SPOILER!!: AJ and Norah Awww, the little Second Year was adorable. Smiling, Lux shook her hand. "Nice to meet you too, Norah. Thanks! You have a really nice name too." She had never met anyone named Norah before, so maybe it was uncommon like hers. Someone else was joining them, and at first Lux thought it was Angel, but it turned out to be one of her sisters. "Hey, AJ! I am Lux! I am one of Angel's friends." Angel was such a sweet girl. A moonwalk off? Lux was not too sure how that would work, but she was intrigued. "You mean like a dance off kind of thing?" Or was she missing something here? "I could go first unless someone else really wants to." She did not mind waiting, it wasn't as if she wouldn't get a chance to try out moonwalking. |
#1 Astronaut Training - anyone can join us if they wish ^__^ He landed easily, and there was no sickness, this was progress. But his excitement couldn't be contained for much longer, and his fingers were tingling with adrenalin and anticipation. LET HIM HAVE AT IT ALREADY!!!! After making their way to the building, and after handing his ticket to the attendant with the BIGGEST GRIN HE COULD MUSTER, he passed through and somehow managed to wait through the Professor's instructions. YES! GOOD! HE COULD GO NUTS NOW! He didn't care much for the buddy system in HERE, because, they were all kinda going in the same places anyway, so he made the executive decision not to wait on anyone and just go for it. The first thing he wanted to do, was the Astronaut Training, cause, HELLO, it was only the coolest thing EVER. Eagerly he walked!ran passed some of the others and joined the line for the SITTING IN THE CHAIR AND SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL activity. That looked fun. Weeee. |
Cafe - Speaking to Thornton As her feet touched down on the ground she wobbled just slightly taking a step back to press her hand to the wall nearest her to regain her balance. Oh how she loathed traveling by portkey. Closing her eyes and taking a slow steady breath she waited a moment before opening her eyes. With a quick run of her slightly shaky hand through her hair she removed her ticket from her backpack and followed everyone inside. Once she handed her ticket over she looked around. Maybe a drink would help her stomach and her slight headache she was now getting. It would be a good place to start. Spotting Thornton up ahead of her a few paces she picked up her step a little bit to fall into place beside him. "Hey, I'm Hady. Are you headed to the Cafe?" She greeted warmly figuring that if he was maybe they could partner up for this part and make a new friend at the same time. |
cafe w/ Hady Quote:
He looked down the hall to the signs that said 'cafe' and nodded. "Yes, I think I need something to settle my stomach," he added meekly. "Do you want to come with me?" Thornton looked at her expectantly. "Have you ever used muggle money before?" he leaned over to whisper. He certainly hadn't. He hoped that he wouldn't make too big a mistake. He could manage galleons fine, when he was permitted to do so, but he feared not understanding the paper he had balled in his hand. |
Post 1-Arrival and off to Astronaut Training Jasmine arrived in the parking lot all on one piece, but briefly disoriented. Once her head cleared, she was ready for action. It looked like all of her wooden spoon travelers were safe and sound, so she handed the portkey back to Professor Flamsteed. Jasmine felt right at home in the muggle world because it was pretty much home to her. This was going to be so epic. She reached into her bag and took out the Space Center brochure for review. So many things to see and do, so little time. Jasmine decided that she would try to see as much as she could on this visit. First up was Astronaut Training. For better or worse, she was curious to see how it felt to be an astronaut. Did it feel like portkey travel.....or worse. She figured that worse was probably the correct response, but she was willing to give it a try anyway. When Jasmine arrived at the Astronaut Training area, she was amazed at what she saw. Oh she was definitely going to try the big spinning gyroscope thing. Joining the line, she tried to decide if it might be better to save this experience until the end of her visit......just in case. Nope, she was going to start here. |
#2 Astronaut Training He didn't have to wait for long, because he'd beaten most of the rush - and managed to push past a couple more, so when the attendant person signaled for him to come forward, Zeke didn't hesitate. Even as he bounced his way eager forward, passing the guy that had just come off it - the guy with the green face, Zeke still sported his super ecstatic grin. NOTHING could bring him down right now. Being strapped in was easy as beans, and he felt super secure with all the fittings being tightened around him. The man gave him a thumbs up, and all he could do was return his own THUMBS UP gesture... and then it started! The spinning was slow to begin with, but it got faster... and faster... and fasterrrr... and FASTTERRR and ZOMG THIS WAS SO COOL. Zeke's mouth hung open, but the only sound that was audible was a repetitive, "Whooaaaa.... whooaaaa... whoaaaaaa... whoaaaaa." Awesome. He could even feel his face peeling away, or like... MOVING around and about. Sort of, flapping in the wind. |
Cafe Post 2 Quote:
As they walked into the cafe she glanced at the menu. Maybe a small ginger ale of something like that would help. "Oh yes I do. It's not very hard really, my mom is muggleborn." Hady replied whispering the last part. She remembered what the Professor told them about watching what they said outloud. |
Post 2-Astronaut Training Jasmine was going to experience what it was like to be in an out of control space capsule. The closer she got to her actual turn, the more she started to second guess her decision. Watching her classmate on the ride, she was even less sure. No, the only way she would find out what it was like was to try it.....so she was going to do it. And then it was Jasmine's turn. Jasmine climbed into the huge contraption and was strapped into the seat. It was now or never. The gyroscope began to move, slowly turning her around. Then it began to pick up speed and Jasmine was being spun in every possible direction. Talking about disoriented......she didn't know which way was up and which way was down. Her hands clutched the seat, as if that would keep her from spinning off into space. It was definitely a good thing that she hadn't visited the cafe first. After what seemed like an eternity, the sphere began to slow down. Thank Merlin, it finally came to a complete stop. Somewhat wobbly and with a new respect for astronauts, Jasmine removed herself from the ride. So the answer was worse.......this was way worse than traveling by portkey. Taking a moment to get her senses back, Jasmine mentally checked this off her bucket list. She also checked astronaut off of her list of potential careers. There was no way that she could do this for a living. Props to Professor Flamsteed. |
cafe w/ Hady #3 Quote:
Approaching the register, he placed the two items in front of the woman, hoping that he'd done the math correctly. He then handed over the crinkled, slighty sweaty, note. |
Cafe with Thornton 3 Quote:
After paying for her drink she leaned over to him and whispered softly in reply to his earlier comment. "Honestly so are mine but I'm adopted now and my father is a pureblood but my mother is muggleborn." This she had told him with confidence having not told anyone else here about that so far. Not that she was embarrassed at all cause she wasn't not one bit she loved her parents. It just hadn't ever come up before. |

It was nice to know that someone was making sure he didn't mess up too badly. Taking his change, he smiled and went over to get them a table. While he waited for her to join him, he unwrapped the cake and took a small bite. Sweet, but not too sweet. It would likely do. Sipping his ginger ale, he wondered what the appropriate thing to say was. He didn't want to pry, but she had brought it up and so ignoring it was likely impolite as well... Bother. |
#3 Astronaut Training Sadly, the ride was soon over, and though he was completely disorientated, he wanted it to keep going. He sat for a short while as the attendant unstrapped him from the contraption, giving him a moment to breathe and orient himself. Things were still spinning, but in a happy fun way. FUUUUNNN.... WEEEEEE. But now that he'd done that... now what? The climbing activity? YEAH? YEAH! He'd had practice at this super recently too, with the whole carnival thing that they had at school. On top of that, there was the whole weightlessness floating NON GRAVITY element to it. Fuuun. Zeke practically threw himself at the lady attendant that was standing and waiting. He wanted on this thing, NOW! |
Tour of le Rocket Tower ^_^ + Gabe & Benny Adi grinned at Gabe. He wasn't trying to make him uncomfortable or anything, just trying to make him accustomed to have an always happy Hufflepuff around. Because Adi liked this dude despite him being a little weird. Did Benny and Gabe know each other? Maybe an introduction would be nice, just to be on the safe side. "Gabe, this is my best friend Benny. Benny, this is shy dude Gabe.'' Hehe. ......................... Ohh! Gabe knew his stuff! How cool. "Do you know if Astronauts always collect rocks when they visit the moon? Are you a science nut?'' Adi always had questions. He was now examining something called the Vostok Capsule. Wasn't this the first man made thingy to go in space? The Puffer climbed in excitedly. "This thing is so awesome! I'm going to be the first guy in spaceeeee!'' |
Arriving + Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium After finally landing on the ground, Zander did the doubling over while clutching stomach thing. His head was doing the spinny thing and wait a minute-- where they here?! Wizard travel was literally the weirdest thing ever. Spotting a couple of bushes over to the side, Zander ran over and ducked underneath them, for you know... Ahem. Reasons. It was his first experience with portkey travel AND hopefully the last. After popping his head back up, he noticed that O_____O Everyone was walking away!! HOLD UP PEOPLE!! Ahem. Now that they were inside and holy moly this place looks AWESOME!! Forgetting all about the weird travel experience he had just undergone, the Gryffindor basically ran towards the first thing he noticed. The Planetarium!! They were showing a SPACE MOVIE!!! So yeah, he was gonna watch that. |
Goldilocks hitting up the Cafe, yo After tossing her cookies all over the bushes in the parking lot, Goldilocks was feeling ever so dismayed. She didn't like the portkey business and would rather be eaten by a bear than do it again. And she thought they were hard to handle! These people were worse and she wasted no time slipping away from the man in charge and the freckle faced boy as soon as possible. She was fine on her own, thank you. Now what to do first. Twirling a lock of hair around her finger, Goldilocks did a little twirl and surveyed her options. So much to see and not a threat in sight! Maybe it was turning out to be her day after all. Spotting the cafe, she brightened up considerably. Surely she should fill her tummy now that she'd emptied it of the breakfast she'd had that morning. Did they have porridge here? HM? She skipped her way over and decided to find out for herself. |
Cafe - Thornton Post 4 Quote:
After paying for her drink which only took a moment she glanced around. Her eyes landed on the table that Thornton had found for them both. Walking over she smiled at him friendly before setting down across from him. Maybe she should explain a little about her 'family'? He hadn't asked her about it which she liked, you know him not prying into her business and all. It was sometimes rude when people just asked straight up though she understood it wasn't intended that way now that she was older. Twisting the cap off her ginger ale bottle she took a small sip before placing the bottle on the table. "My parents were killed in an auto accident when I was still little. My parents now are actually very close friends with my birth parents so it's like I'm with family still." Hady tried to explain a little bit without giving him the entire story which she was sure he didn't want to hear. Not that she'd tell him everything just now anyways. Not wanting him to feel badly like most people do she offered him another smile adding quietly. "I don't remember them all that much so you know it's okay and all." |
Planetarium - Zander post 2 Quote:
She caught up to him and grabbed his arm. "Zander! You wanna watch the alien movie with me?" Because she didn't want to watch it by her she'd rather watch it with a friend. They were friends right? Right. She steered them over right in the middle of the room. Great spot. She sat down "So what do you think of this place so far?" It was awesome right? This place was really cool and not a boring Hogwarts classroom. |
Lonely Ian head's to play with remote controls. 1 Ian watched as people headed off and went their ways. Apparently, he was left on his own. He shrugged and decided to explore for a while. He was used to working alone. Actually, he'd gotten rather good at it this term. He watched as people from Hogwarts peeled off to different places. He didn't really feel like getting all blocked up in a queue so he went for one of the places that didn't have lots of people waiting. He decided to give the astrobot mining a go. He spoke with the bored looking girl manning the station. She spoke in a very disinterested voice and handed him a controller. It had directional sticks, one which went back and forth, one which went left and right and a toggle that lifted a bucket. He looked in the contained area and found the bot that corresponded with his controller. It was near a pile of 'moon rocks'. He moved the bot carefully into position in front of the pile. He decided to use a technique where he would use the wall to help him out. He lowered the bucket and pushed the bot forward, pushing it toward the wall. When he got to the wall, he watched the bucket fill up with rocks. When it wouldn't hold any more, he started lifting the bucket, taking a number of rocks with him. He lifted the bucket over the fulcrum until it dropped the rocks into the containment area on the back side of the bot. He was pleased with his effort. He began to look for another group of rocks. |
Post #1; Moonwalking people? And......................... LANDED! Jeez. JEEZ. Nothing was gonna stop him from feeling sick, was it? When could he start learning to apparate? Because he wanted to get that over and done with as soon as possible, thanks, and not have to deal with this nonsense that was the Portkey. It was sickening. Literally. And he had no desire to go and get some food just yet. Besides, from what he could see, there wasn't a sign of a McDonalds or a KFC or even a Subway! MAN. People were moving on, however, so, after taking out his entry ticket and handing it to the ticket officer, Grayson entered the National Space Centre and took a look around. SWEET! Now, the real question was: where should he go first? One of the Tranquillity Bases? They seemed to have some of the best activities. Especially that moon walking one. He was ALL up for pretending that he was actually on the moon and whatnot. YEAH. He was gonna go over THERE and wait in line to get his astronaut picture taken. |
