Lux was about to reply to Professor Romanos when Lex started talking crazy again. Who was this Maleficent person? The name reminded her of the evil woman from.... NO that was just a fairy tale, it wasn't REAL. Maybe Lex was playing some prank on them all? Only... something didn't feel right about it.

Worried, she saw Bay go up to Romanos and whisper to her about something she could only assume was Lex. He was smart and a Prefect, surely he would be able to help with this. He was wonderful like that.

Jasmine watched as the Maleficent drama continued. At first she'd hought that Lex was giving a performance, but she had seen several instances of her going too far. True, Lex normally didn't have much of a filter when it came to speaking her mind, but this was waaaay beyond normal for her. Jasmine was genuinely worried for her friend. It was like she was possessed or something. Had she hit her head, drunk something she shouldn't have or fallen victim to an evil spell? Jasmine tried to think of a way to help her because Lex was clearly not herself.

Eden smiled up at the professor. Oh? she knew her NAME? Wow. "H--how--I'm a transfer, professor! You look up on all your students?" she asked, but she felt very...special. Heh. She already really liked this professor. It seemed all the female ones were nice and normal and great, but the males were CLEARLY insane, yes?

Maybe she should greet them more often, yes?

Ugh. The head girl was being COMPLETELY insufferable. What was her name, Alexa? She just sent a glare her way and



Eden looked over at the boy and smiled as he seemed to enjoy the sun. Yes. She liked it too. "Nice to meet you. I'm new here--so sorry if I blow anything up. let's hope that doesn't happen." Yeah. Way to be super open, Ed. She blushed a little and siiiighed.

She was getting to be RECKLESS in what she told people nowadays--it was SAD and TERRIFYING. She opened her notebook and began to scribble down the date and whatnot--before looked around the classroom--er, arena--again. This should be interesting.

Eden was EXCITED for class. Maybe she belonged in Ravenclaw after all?

Benny was trying not to give the girls too much attention, aware that something was up even if he was clueless. AJ had Angel under her wing and he was fine staying out of things. He caught the professor's nod at her greeting and the unfamiliar look his way in response yet brushed it off as well for now. "It was good," he answered her question with her own nod. Fun with friends and considering the more positive feelings with Angel now, there wasn't bad memories much anymore. Unless of course the reason she was being odd now was because of him.

"I hope yours was as well," he offered in return to draw his thoughts away.

However before an answer could be given Lex was back to cause more trouble. Ugg...what was going on. Benny had known word of her being a troublemaker in the past, perhaps more before he had been around, but this was big when going against a professor. And he hear mention of Maleficent? Who was this...her pseudonym?

t was almost as if this was part of her plan to go out with a bang. This being her final year and all. Regardless he was being weary around her.

Sooo, that just happened.... cursing people, did that usually happen? Was this normal at Hogwarts? Was the Gryffindor usually like this? What was HAPPENING? The spinning wheel? Maleficient? Wasn't that from a fairy tale or something? Ophelia has mostly been read wizarding fairy tales like the Tale of the Three Brothers and such. Not muggle ones like this... but she was sure she heard it somewhere. Well that was gonna annoy her.

And wasn't the girl like this in other classes too? Ophelia wasn't paying much attention to the other students in those classes, but the first year remembered the drama before. Okay, so was she being wrong here by acknowledging her? A nervous tingle under the skin said yes, but the child went through with it anyway, looking at the girl in front of her. Someone had to do it. And apparently that someone was a brown eyed first year with absolutely no sense of danger. Apparently.

And it wasn't like the firstie at all to interfere --yeah right-- but was this girl okay? Did she need something? Ophelia had stuff for almost any situation. Food stuff, writing utensils, you name it, she probably had it. Her mother taught her to be prepared. Not that she retained that fact totally, but ya know. All of that stuff in her bag was for survival. Her survival.

" Maleficient? Isn't that from something? I can't remember what, but like a reaaalllly old book or something." Because someone read that to her when she was younger and it was an interesting, and maybe the firstie just wanted to have a conversation, ya know? With an older student who might be helpful if she needed anything/to ward away anyone who wanted to cross her. Having a friend who called people peasants had its benefits. Also, probably should get on the topic of fixing Senator Cranky over there.

"Do you need some food? Because I have a lot of candy and stuff in my bag. I'll give you your pick. I think I might even have an apple. If you're into that whole healthy thing. Here." And she started opening her bag. Because even if it wasn't an issue of hunger, well, now Ophelia was hungry.

Also, the teacher. " Hello, Professor! " Make it seem like her rapt attention wasn't towards the hungry or possibly tired or... crazy person here.

“You’ve seen her in History. I think she was really impressive…until she became pushy.” Zander should know better because Lex was their Female Prefect. Ethan was pretty sure that Lex did a fine job by keeping her Lions in check. Oh, and Kevin? Ethan and Lex had a brief talk about him, and if he was to compare her actions now with the words she told him before, then the Head Girl was going against her words. “I think she’s gone…bonkers. If the weight of her badge is making her loco, then she should talk to Flamsteed,” Or maybe not? Their Astronomy professor can be bonkers too. “…or any adult.” Ethan made a short stop to see Culloden and asked him for advice. Though it took him a while to register everything in his head, he came out of his office relieved and found himself more confident. “Thanks, mate.” Ethan grinned at Zander. Hopefully he’d also get a badge in the future. It’ll be awesome to work with him, yeah?

Oh, and there’s Simon! Good, good. He’ll be needing his Watson. Zander can be Lestrade…and Josie can be Molly. OHMYGERRRRRRD. Molly. Hihihihi. AHEM. Back to the case, yeah? “At this point Watson, I think Lex is doing some…Seventh Year prank or something.” What with dying her hair black…and donning that costume? And wowzers. Talk about the epitome of a careless Gryffindor. Lex was really pushing it, yeah? Ethan briefly looked around, until his eyes landed on Bay. He really should do something now.

Amid the drama that was going on up front, Ethan heard Simon mention the word popcorn and gave his best bud a look. The prefect’s face turned pink, and it worsened when Gregoire showed up. Amour means love in English, yes? MERLIN. What is UP with his friends, lately? Ethan shot Josie an apologetic look before he turned to face Gregoire. “Bonjour, Gregoire.” And did he know that it was the worst time to correct himself?! Whyyyyy. Whyyyyyyyyy. “Uh…I do?” Ethan grinned trying to maintain his composure. He wasn’t going to give an answer right away, especially when Josie’s sitting beside him. “What made you think that I fancy someone?” No, seriously. Was he that obvious??? OH AND INTRODUCTIONS! “By the way, Zander…Simon…Josie, I’d like you to meet Gregoire.” There, the Beauxbaton Transfer will now have more friends. Cool, yeah?

Oh, she knew his name and from the looks of it. His brother. By this point he was not surprised and he just couldn't care less.

Dante thought coming to Hogwarts. He would escape his brother. Him and his annoying habits.

How wrong he was.

Ian sat up as the Ravenclaw next to him continued to speak. Pleasure to meet you as well. No worries about blowing things up next to me. My first couple of years saw me not being the most talented wizard. Still ain't got much talent, but I think I could hold my own. He noticed the blush and looked away. Looking back up to Eden he gave her a smile. I'm sure you'll do a great job. Ravvies are pretty sharp. Huffies just have loyalty

The last words he spoke caused him to think of the people he'd messed up with and he returned his gaxe to his feet. The sun really did feel nice. He looked to the professor, who still seemed to be smiling, well...ok the smile went away as the professor spoke to the head girl. The head girl was sitting up near the front of the arena with the teacher, which was odd. Ian didn't really understand the protocols and etiquette, but even as a head boy or girl, one was still a student.

He looked back to Eden. You're too mature looking to be a firstie. Where do ya come from?

Well then...this was certainly...interesting.

Wait a minute. Maleficent...Maleficent...He'd heard that name from somewhere. The best solution for now would be to feed her ego so she gets such a big head, it would eventually weigh her down, and make her collapse in a figurative sense. Even if it was a senior prank thing, it wouldn't harm things that much. Would it? Even though knowing that 'Maleficent' or 'Malfaisant' meant evil and black hearted, Gregoire still said to her "Oh powerful one! Grande reine! Qu'est-ce que that you need? I can vous servir! J'ai juste besoin what you need! Tell me, and je peux le receive it for you!" ("Oh powerful one! Great queen! What is it that you need? I can serve you. I just need to know what it is you need. Tell me, and I can retrieve it for you") Hopefully she wouldn't notice what he was trying to do, and to trick her into giving them some information.



Ahhh, so there was a girl Ethan had liked. Gregoire knew it! And judging by looking at the one named Josie, and the little bit a blushing it was her...at least...that was his first guess. For all he knew he could be in love with the other prefect for the snakes. "If you want, later on je peux vous apprande more Francais than you already know. That is, if you were trying to d'impressioner une fi- I mean, the girl." (If you want later on I can teach you more French than you already know. That is if you were trying to impress the girl) Wink. Gregoire loved to embarrass people especially in front of their crushes! This was the true dark side of him. The side that most likely got him put on to Slytherin. The dirty blonde could be quite the prankster

Every word, even this boy’s English was all jumbled inside Ethan’s head, but he didn’t need to be a genius to figure out some of the words. Definitely…Gregoire offering him to teach ‘French’ which was then linked to the word ‘girl’, made his insides grumble in embarrassment. AT LEAST, the French kid didn’t look at Josie. Or that Josie cannot understand French too.

But what if she does.

OHMYMERLIN.

Sighing, at least he’d know one more language apart from the little Spanish that he knows. “Bien…uuuuuhm…Bien sûr, monsieur.” That was French for... 'Sure thing!' right? Ugh. Nope, bad idea. Speaking ‘half-baked’ French in front of the girl you like is a no-no. He was sure he butchered the words and stuff.

BUT WAAAAAAIT A MINUTE.

Uh…Grayson? Merlin, Gregoire was on a roll today. What was he doing? Again, he heard some English words roll out of his mouth, but it was thickly laden with French accent. Neverthless, whatever that kid was telling Lex wasn’t a good idea.

Maleficient?

The.......witch, from...umm, what was the story.

Uh. Somehow, Paloma couldn't come up with some nice nor logical idea about what was just happening inside that classroom, so she just sat there next to Eden, in her chair and stared around looking for someone else she might know from that class, and back at Professor Romanos, hoping the class would start soon.

Caleb was just sulking as the class filled in around him...but then a young Ravenclaw boy was TALKING to him. Ugh. Did he LOOK like he wanted to talk? Still, he'd humor him, because Caleb wasn't one to be impolite. "Hey," he said with a chuckle. So enthusiastic about EVERYTHING. Caleb could remember being that happy and young...kind of.

But then...Caleb turned towards the Head Girl and wrinkled his eyebrows. WHAT was Lex's problem? He knew she was kind of...well, odd at times, but odd in a GOOD way. But this joke, whatever she was doing, was going too far. She was YELLING and Romanos now!

"Has Lex lost her mind?" he whispered to the Ravvie kid.

Oh my! Her eyebrows shot up in surprise from hearing an accent as thick as her own, maybe even more so. Though while their native languages were different, it was rather comforting to hear. "Bonjour Gregoire." she greeted kindly in return, perhaps sounding strange with her Bulgarian accent.

But, he was making friends at least. Good good.

Was she just a bit surpriiiiised?

Chuckling softly to herself, she let her hands rest upon her knees, tilting her head to the side a little. "It is my job to know the students. Especially at the beginning of every term." So, you know, she could call their name properly if they were doing something wrong. Or right even.

It was good to know names!

Oh, how nice. No bad summers as of yet. "It vos, yes." she nodded a few times.

Raising her hand, she gave a little finger!wiggle wave to Ophelia in return.

Goooood morning to yooouu.

Was he really??

"How vonderful!" she smiled, reaching out to catch Sonya. Running a million times in circles was enough for one day. "Vell, velcome to Hogvarts. I hope you've settled in just fine." And perhaps make his mark upon Hogwarts like his brother did.

This, whatever this was, needed to stop.

And it did. Surprisingly and...temporarily from the sounds of it. But she'd take it for now. The student's learning would not be compromised over a bit of a prank! Taking a deep breath, she eyed the girl and the mat next to her for a moment before looking out to the class, releasing that breath slowly.

They would finish this after class.

Leaning a bit towards Bay as he moved closer, she couldn't help but sigh a little. Oh she didn't want the students worrying. "Perhaps too many chocolate frogs?" Chuckling softly in hopes of lightening the situation a little, her soft laughter subsided and she nodded a few times.

"Thank you, Mister Bay. I appreciate your concern for your classmate..." Or friend for better terms. "Vould you mind staying after class for a few moments?"

As for their time, they were now behind.

Oh? Hold on...

"Oh, pardon me for interrupting Mister Bastion..." That's right. She knew the lad's surname. Although, she held up her hands towards both Gregoire and Alexa aka Maleficent. "Though ve really must begin our class." Too much time had been wasted as it were.



"So, let us begin and focus on the lesson." Taking a glance to the Head Girl, she shook her head a little before starting in hopes of a consistent normal English accent. "Fire and Ice. What are the benefits of these two elements?"

Oh... they were starting now? Zeke propped himself up on his elbows and then pulled himself up into a sitting position. The question Professor Lady asked was all sorts of confusing. But... it could be almost anything, no?

Raising his hand, he wondered out loud, "Warming up and cooling down?"

Given that they were sitting on yogum mats and stuff, it wasn't a far stretch of the imagination to think they were talking about exercise.

In all honesty, it was a bit distracting to see Lex up front. Ethan however, willed himself to focus on Romanos, and the question that is now being asked. Benefits of Fire and Ice? Well, it does bring balance to a lot of things, yeah? But…what kind of balance?

Thinking…and some more thinking, Ethan’s hand was raised.

“It brings comfort, professor. If it’s too cold, fire can bring warmth and vice versa.” Pretty much like Yin and Yang. Hmm. Does it have anything to do with chorts and the cold ones, again? Ethan dropped his hand and looked briefly at Zander. His Gryffindor friend won’t like it one bit.

Okaaay so when Lex was acting crazy in History of Magic, AJ thought it was all just an act, but this, THIS was different. Something was up with her prefect, and it didn't seem like anybody was taking this seriously. Not cool.

Apparently the professor was moving on, and the lion tried hard to peel her eyes off of Lex and put them on the professor instead. It was hard. She should get points for even trying. Just sayin'

She raised her hand. "They can both be used as a defensive weapon." This was defense against the dark arts after all.

Dot sat up at the professor's reminder not to sleep, although she thought it had been pretty obvious she was doing a plank impression. It was a gentle reminder, though, so the Slytherin wasn't too fussed about it. She watched Lex be a nutter with interest - as long as it wasn't making her people unhappy, Dot was willing to concede that nutter!Lex was pretty interesting.

Eventually, though, class had to start, and Dot was left with the vaguest question in the universe. Benefit, like... defensively? Against Dark Arts? Or just in general? She raised her hand and wiggled her fingers at the professor person. "They're... natural elements. So they have both a physical and magical way to create and counter them." Was that dumb?

Thornton was remarkably glad to be sitting next to Toby, given the Lex situation. Thornton couldn't believe how she had spoken to the professor and could feel himself getting a little worked up about it. It wasn't fear so much as it was discomfort with such a profound breach of that proper roles for professor and student.

But, it seemed to be at a lull, at least because the Professor was not letting it affect her too much. And so Thornton got ready to write. Fire and Ice. Benefits.

He raised his hand to offer a thought: "Fire and Ice are both elements that, in moderation can be of great use. But in excess, they can be dangerous and unpredictable."

So, it wasn't exactly an explicit benefit, but Thornton felt it important to mention that fire and ice were beneficial to a certain degree, beyond which they could be destructive.

Norah let out a long breath, no doubt comforted by the beginning of the lesson. At least that was normal. But fire and ice? Uhhh...she raised her hands tentatively into the air. "They're opposites? So they like, counteract each other." Or something like that. She positioned herself to begin taking notes and listened to what the others had to say.

Benefits of fire and ice? Well, they were opposites. But did ice HAVE. Benefit? Ice was.... Ice. Slippy and hard to walk on. It came about in the winter. And both were rather destructive when used wrong. Like Captain Cranky over there being Maleficient or something. The offer for food was still on the table. Well, the metaphorical table. Though the eating part would have to wait till after class, of course. She was trying to be helpful, not lose Ravenclaw house points here.

Anyway, focus. Fire and ice. Well, fire could be used for warmth, and ice was used to chill things, like ice cubes. But the answer seemed so much deeper than. that, and there had to be something Ophelia was missing. Though it didn't come to mind and someone had already said it. Sighing that she was second to say what she wanted to say --minus the ying and yang part-- the kid tossed her blonde waves over her shoulder and sighed, wondering what all of this evil ruler drama was about. She'd have to come up with another answer too, something better than her first.


And she got it! Raising her hand, Ophelia tried to formulate the answer into good words.

"They're both crazy when not controlled. Fire's great for fireplaces but take it out and put it in a forest and people get hurt. And ice is great for the polar bears and all, but an ice storm once took out my aunts wind shield. There was a hole in it the size of a dollar bill." Because everyone needed to know that.

Class was starting now, and Lux wondered if Professor Romanos would be able to help Lex at all. She was smart and capable...but then if she COULD help, that would have to mean dark magic was involved when surely it wasn't.

Deciding that there was no point in worrying about it right now when nothing could be done, she raised her hand to answer the question. "Fire and ice can be used in defence. You can burn an enemy or freeze them." Nod.

Oh a LOYAL subject. Yes yes she was aware there were a few of those left and Maleficent went out of her way to blow him a kiss to show her appreciation of his undying declaration to her servitude. The boy was as good as hers now but of course they all knew that and the Mistress of All Evil was heartily content and could now...what was it it? Listen? Why did she get to speak to the peasants and not her? Was this not her kingdom to rule? The Dark Queen might have asked as much were the woman not asking her own obvious questions.

"Fire is useful for burning the Peasants that don't comply and ice is a necessity as well. Get somewhere cold enough and they sell you their children for some warm blankets and a cup of hot broth."

As Queen she would know this. "Have to keep the lowerlies in line lest they rise up against you and you be forced to CRUSH them with an iron sceptre!" Naturally.

Sigh. Looks like Gregoire wouldn't be finding out what Maleficent had wanted. Unless she interrupts class to speak some more. But if she did...Gregoire definitely wouldn't be responding to her any time soon. Well, at least not until class is over. He would definitely be having to get on her good side. Both the professor, and this Maleficent person. Gregoire could explain why in four words. They-were-both-powerful. Simple as that. Nothing else needed to be said about that at least. It was the truth though.

The question was semi-easy for the Frenchie. First he thought, Is this supposed to be a trick question? Which obviously made him overthink it. But another part of his brain said Of course this isn't a trick question. Just give the simplistic answer. So raising his hand, the Slytherin said "Le feu is used for de chauffage jusqu'a, or it could be used for much worse things comme la destruction. La glace peut etre used for cooling things off, ou pour une autre worse thing such as freezing people ou en leur donnant severe cases of frostbite and/or hypothermie."(Fire is used for heating things up, or it could also be used for much worse things such as destruction. Ice can be used for cooling things off, or for another worse thing such as freezing people or giving them severe cases of frostbite and/or hypothermia.) There. That was simple enough was it not?

HAD she lost her mind? Er- well Kyroh didn't know the girl well enough in the first place. But he did know that she hadn't acted like this in Astronomy class. Or last year. But she was just being MEAN now. Calling him ugly and....talking about burring peasants!? He leaned in closer to the Slytherin. "Maybe she's just gone power hungry?" That was a thing right? It's what happened all the time to rich people in comic books before they turned into VILLAINS.

Which means that Alexa Cambridge was a villain.

And clearly Kymazing The Boy Wonder (which was a COMPLETELY original name by the way) would have to stop her.

....Just not now.

Now was for class.

Kyroh raised his hand up high.

"When you have a barbecue fire helps with the food, and ice helps with the drinks."

Oh look, the evil queen struck again! They were burning people now? Pretty sure that wasn't the intended use for fire, but okay. Hearing someone talk about burning peasants sent a shiver down her spine, and she wanted to say something about how nobody really DID that anymore and she should probably take the apple before her blood sugar got too low, but Ophelia didn't want to interrupt the lesson to do it. So her mouth stayed shut.

But why were they burning the peasants? And why was ice helpful in that scenario? There was so many questions. Seriously, how was ice even helpful? And why did whats-her-face want to burn peasants? Were they the peasants? Why? and most importantly, WHAT WAS GOING ON? What happened to the calm magic school she was expecting? Well, not calm, but certainly not this! This was way not calm. Too not calm. Did this girl need to see the nurse? Because they might want to take her there first

And she wasn't telling her parents a thing. Because if they knew that someone was going around and talking about burning things and talking back to teachers, she would be snatched out of there faster than you could say 'Merlin.'
