we've been here *shifty*....Runes group Beverly had been listening from behind a bookshelf. She wasn't hiding, that was for cowards and she was no coward. She was observing and deciding whether it was worth to be part of this hunt. She, more than anyone -- not really, but she didn't care about others-- wanted her hands on that book and set it on fire. Somehow, someway, it caused HER to do stuff. Even DUMP her BOYFRIEND. Yes. She wanted some payback. This was per-so-nal. The Prefect wasn't daft, either. She knew what happened to people trying to play hero. They tended to die or lose limbs and she wasn't planning on either of those. Instead she skimmed over some books until the hunt groups returned and tuned into that. Finally making a decision, she stood from behind a bookshelf, a dragon book in her hand. Reading, see? She was already helping. Pushing some chairs out of the way to clear the area, Beverly went to stand near Professor Botros. "I'm good at runes, I can help." He knew that, yeah? |
Nessa was not a Runes person at all. She hadn't even taken it in school so she really didn't know the first thing about them, but Ab seemed to have something of a plan with this runic trap something or other and she thought she'd try to help out with that if she could. He did seem to spell it out a bit for them and she thought it was better than going off in search of baked goods. Even she thought that was a bit odd and somewhat off topic, but there were enough of them here anyway. Hearing Annie direct a few of the children, she pulled out her wand and headed over to the table they were clearing off and awaited instructions on how to say this incantation needed. |

"Yes. We're trying to capture the book using a runic spell." Botros informed the professor and pointed with his thumb over his shoulder in the restricted section's direction. "Unless you want to find out who's baking in there." It was a joke, Ab chuckled and nodded his gratitude to Leobald for allowing them to disrupt the library's neat arrangements. Quote:

"Yes, thank you." Botros walked towards the cleared out table and started unwrapping those candy tubes. He struggled with the first one, hadn't had one of those in years. How do you-- get this-- oh! He got it, he got this. He started making a wide ring on the big table when a couple of students volunteered... Quote:
He offered the girl a few candy tubes. "Here, you can do Othala in the center. Hop on the table, dear, and just like we did in class." He smiled encouragingly. She was on top of class this term, a future runes mistress perhaps. Quote:
He threw a few candy tubes to Brown. "Yes, dear. Go ahead and start with Algiz. Exactly as we learnt in class." Quote:
"Yes, you too. Here," He threw a couple of candy tubes to Wayne. "Do Uruz over here and over there." Botros pointed at the top and bottom of the table. |
Yep, the matter was settled when the Headmistress plucked the rest of the candy tubes out of the bag. Oh well. It wasn't as if other candies couldn't be had. There was always Cutty at the very least; Lux had bought Chocolate Frogs from him a few times when her stock ran low. Hearing her name, she nodded and got to work. Anything she could do to help was fine with her and she was still pleased that her offer to be used as bait had been rejected since it had merely been her putting on a brave face for the greater good. Heading over to the indicated table, she began clearing it off, smiling back at Sophie as she did so. Soon enough everything was cleared and they were ready to start on the Runic Ward. Curiously she watched as Professor Botros drew the big circle using the red candy. It was kind of nice how food could be used to save the day. Food was amazing. Smiling at the Professor, Lux nodded and took the candy tubes from him. She remembered what Othala looked like, so once she was on the table she began to draw it out in the center while making sure to keep it symmetrical and as neat as possible. She hoped that Mr. Kitridge wouldn't mind her on one of his tables, but he did give permission to do what was necessary so it should be okay. |
Angel smiled at the head teacher as she got asked to do a few things. "Will do Professor." Angel went over and helped Benny move the table so that the Ancient Runes Professor could get to work... she had no idea what this was going to achieve but she wanted to help out in anyway she can... she was okay at Ancient Runes so if the Professor wanted some chanting doing then all she needed to know was the words. |
As part of the group headed to the towards the restricted section she watched Anyway... She turned to the group still there. "I can help with whatever is needed." She pulled her wand and moved towards the little group clearing the table. "Professor Botros if you give me a quick overview of what the spell is, I'm sure I can be of some assistance." She wanted to help do whatever was needed and of course Abe was so sweet and kind she didn't want to let him down. |
Text Cut: lalala doing two runes at once because I might be MIA soon Sophie was VERY eager to help, so she was equally as excited when Botros gave her permission to draw Algiz. She tried to keep her expression calm and serious, acknowledging the importance of the situation at hand - but she was grinning a little because she was so EXCITED to be trusted enough by the professor to help out. "Thank you, professor. You can count on me," she told Botros firmly as she caught the red candy tubes from him. Make sure the lines you're drawing are continuous, do not huff on the powder, do not tremble, your runes are as strong as your will... As she took her place to start with the Algiz rune on the west side of the wide circle, the professor's words made her a LITTLE nervous now because it DID have to be perfect, and messing up at all even a little bit would set them back significantly in their attempts to capture the book. So she had to do it PERFECTLY, and she knew it. No room for accidents. But she knew she could do it. Tearing off the tip of the candy tube, she pocketed the tip and turned her gaze to analyze the circle, picturing exactly in her head how this charm had been on the blackboard that day and how expertly she HAD drawn this rune twice. And she could do it twice more. So, once she had a strong mental picture in mind to accompany her equally as strong will, Soph held her breath and very gently, calmly, and smoothly made a vertical line for the base of Algiz with the powder, then drew two lines protruding from it diagonally so it looked like a 'Y' with the base line reaching up as high as the two diagonal lines all in one continuous movement. Then she stepped back and allowed herself to breathe away from the table, quite pleased with the way it turned out, and she moved around the table slooowly - so she wouldn't accidentally make any of the powdered particles move from their position on the tabletop - to reach the east side of the circle. Having used up the candy of the first tube, Soph had to tear the top off the second one before she could start the second Algiz rune - and, after some internal debate on where to start it on the circle to make sure it matched up evenly with the other one, she got to work with her breath held again, her gaze checking the other rune to make sure they looked identical, her hand fluidly pouring the candy from the tube onto the tabletop with calmness and deliberation - And she was finished. It looked GOOD, too, she thought, and she slowly backed away from the table to let herself resume breathing as she offered Botros an uncertain, hopeful smile that he would return one of approval. |
Lux and Sophie, too :3 Quote:
Botros nodded at professor Morgan as he continued to draw. "It goes like this, 'uruz uruz uruz, cingo res periclum. Naudhiz naudhiz naudhiz, concesso conatum. Elhaz elhaz elhaz, fulcio circumposita. Othala othal othal, creo illud meus'. You only have to say the names of the runes with me, I'll say the rest. It's just commanding them to work together." He smiled at her, and finished with his runes. |
...Cosgrach wanted to eat... WHAT!? NO BAKED GOODS? Cosgrach's mouth fell open. Mweeeeeeeeh. He suddenly almost lost all of his interest in the thing. He was useless when it came to runes, and he wouldn't get to eat. Who knew if it was the book, even? It'd better be, or Cosgrach was leaving. |
As he was cleaning off the table, three girls, a Hufflepuff, a Ravenclaw and the Slytherin female prefect stepped forward and offered assistance in drawing the runes that would be needed. Fine by himm given he himself didn't even have a guide by which to draw anything since he wasn't that good at remembering them off the cuff. Benny then stepped back once the table was clear with Angel's assistance and watched as Professor Botros and the students started drawing with the powdered candy. All very interesting to think it might actually be used to help get the troublesome book back. His attention switched back to Botros as the deputy headmaster taught Professor Morgan what they would need to cast once everything was done. Right...they needed to chant it to set up and strengthen the ward. And that required raised wands as the elder man instructed and Ben obeyed, slipping his wand from his pocket and pointing it at the Othala in the center of the central circle. |
Professor Botros was sooo nice. All of the Professors besides Bellaire were so nice. Happy that she had done a good job, Lux hopped off the table so that she could help chant the Galdr when the time was ready Pointing her wand at Othala, she thought to herself how pretty the Runic Ward looked made out of red candy. It was amazing what candy could do, even saving the day when needed. One of her Chocolate Frogs saved Cutty from the Whomping Willow's clutches when she was a Second Year, and now candy tubes were being used to trap a fairy tale book. Candy was amazing. |
Headmistress & Professor Botros Penelope had managed to get away from the book, and she had come to fetch Headmistress Truebridge and Professor Botros as instructed by Mr. Kitridge. "Headmistress Truebridge, Professor Botros, we found the book. It's in the restricted section. Oh, and the smell of baked goods is coming from the book." So no baked goods, just the smell. Were they done with the runes? |
'uruz uruz uruz, cingo res periclama ramma bing bang... what? She looked at the runes professor for a few seconds before giving him her best smile, "Sure.. got it." Pointing her wand she directed it at the circle like he had instructed everyone to do. Hopefully this wasn't one of those everyone sing loudly for all to hear type of things, because Cassie was pretty much going to mumble through and hoped it helped. Hearing Penelope's voice her green eyes snapped. The book had been found, no one was reading it were they? She felt her nerves jump at the thought, "Do you think we need to go in there?" Should they just go in and try to read it to get it into someones hands? Decided the headmistress would know best, Cassie just stood and waited. |
"Is it ready?" Anastasia knew next to nothing about Runes, despite her husband having taught the subject and personally worked with Botros, so she just kind of hovered on the fringes of the group. What were they--- oh Merlin, they were doing some kind of chanting thing now. She took a big step back and nearly ran into young Penelope, sent to fetch them. OH. THE BOOK. The book was here! Annie clapped her hands and whirled on the spot. "I'm there, I'm there, I'm right behind you. Let's go!" Should she shout 'all hands on deck to help fight the book'? No? Everyone would get it if they needed it. |
Seemed like everyone had everything under control, yeah? Adi watched all the hustle and bustle though he was prepared to jump in when needed. And there was his opportunity! Professor Botros was asking them to gather around at point their wands at the Rune. The Hufflepuff took up a spot next to the short Divination lady, his wand already fixed on the rune at the center. What next? His eyes were fixed on Botros, waiting for instructions. |

Her wand still drawn, Nessa listened as Abe gave the next set of instructions and watched as some of the students got to work with the candy powder. She felt a little useless right at that point, being clueless with runes and all, but best leave that part up to the experts and the more advanced students in that class. Besides, she could point her wand and do the chant thing, maybe. Orrr not. Her eyes got kind of big as she heard Abe give Cassie the incantation sample, then she composed herself with a bright smile. She needed a script to be honest, but she tried going over the words in her head. Uruz, uruz, uruz, cingo, something, something.. Well, at least she could do the very beginning and she would be awesome at pointing her wand. Perhaps she could ask the professor to write it down for her and she could quickly duplicate the chanting script for them all. Certainly she couldn't be the only one with limited runes knowledge. Nessa had just opened her mouth to speak on that thought when her brown eyes snapped to Penelope as she heard her voice. "Oh! You found the book?" she exclaimed in surprise. The baking smell was odd, but was the least of her concerns. Watching the Headmistress dash off towards the restricted section, she looked over at Cassie as she heard her speak and she nodded. "I think we should go check it out." She had been worried earlier about what might happen if someone touched it. Perhaps they needed help to make sure no one got possessed or something worse. Merlin knew what sort of magic that thing contained. Besides, she really felt clueless with the runes and thought she could be of use with containing the book or luring it to the trap they were making. Following Annie, she headed towards the restricted section. |
Waiting for Professor Botros to give the go ahead to chant the Galdr, Lux was surprised to hear that it was the BOOK behind the delicious smell of buns. It would have been much better if the food was real because she could have asked the person to share with her...outside of the library of course. "I wonder if the book was behind the troll in Potions earlier this term..." Just thinking out loud, but she wasn't sure if anyone had come to the same conclusion as her or not. Maybe she was way behind on the times with that one, since the event hadn't crossed her mind in months. Not sure whether she should head off with the Headmistress and Professor Glendower or not, Lux decided to stay right where she was unless told otherwise. People were still needed to help activate the Runes. |
also Beverly Wayne :3 Quote:
... oh Merlin! Quote:
"We need to get the table to them." He nodded at Profesor Morgan and tapped the table with his wand to make it lighter, then held on to the edge. "A little help here, please." It was too risky making it float with the powder holding the runic spell together, any wrong move the ring would be broken and so would the spell. "To the restricted section!" |
Hearing the headmistress she watched her head out and then others heading out towards the restricted section. Were they all really going? Glancing back at Abe maybe she needed to help him, but if the book was there would his runes work? He couldn't just drag the circle to another room, could he? Hearing Nessa say they should go, Cassie was a little hesitant, but knew if they were going to keep anyone else from becoming a fairy tale they would need to go. She nodded to her friend, "Yes, I think we should." Glancing at any students still around, "Come along and have your wand out just in case." After Lux saying about a troll in potions, she figured they needed to be prepared. Looking to Abe as he said they would be taking the table to the restricted section she hurried closer and put her wand away to grab the table. Lifting the table carefully she began to help him move it hopefully closer to the book. |
The book? The Book! Cosgrach woke up from his disappointment. Revenge time! He WOULD be asking the culprit 'why' and 'how' questions, he would! Wand out, he followed everyone to the restricted section with a determined expression. |
The Runeic Ward activated, it was time to move down to the Restricted Section where everyone else was waiting. Despite the circumstances, Lux had to admit that a part of her WAS curious to look around and see just what sorts of books were kept there. Well, besides the ones that possess people. She was all too familiar with THAT book by now. Following the Professors, Lux mentally crossed her fingers that this Runic Ward would work. |
SPOILER!!: Botros They had found the book?! That was great! But as people, both professors and students nearly rushed to head over to the restricted section in response, Benny held up. Did he really want to go back to being anywhere near it again? At least if it came to be caught in their ward it was less harmful. Free and loose didn't sound all to pleasant to the fourth year Gryffindor. But then Professor Botros mentioned bring the warded table to the section, the older man asking for help in the process. It was then that Benny put his wand back away temporarily before taking one of the other sides and carefully lifted when he did. Oh good...it was lighter than he had thought. Onward...quickly yet carefully without breaking the ward. |
SPOILER!!: Kevin <3 Dumbo... Hmph. Adi did not even have to look around to see who was trying to get his attention. "The name's Adi, Kevin,'' he said he said, itching to reach out and give the boy a bit of a thump on the shoulder. Of course he wouldn't do that though. "We're going to trap that mysterious book that's been turning people into fairy tale characters.'' Ohh. Botros was speaking again. Help with the table. Right. "Come on, Kevin,'' Adi said with a grin as he gripped the side of the table. "Make yourself a little useful.'' Off we go, yeah? |
Quote:
As Botros was speaking and used a spell on the table to make it lighter, Kevin wondered why on earth that they as magical people had to carry the table to the forbidden section? But, they probably knew what they were doing .. |
