 The restricted section of the library is as the name implies restricted. In this roped off and locked section you will find old fragile books and tomes. Some of the texts are dark and dangerous and therefore cannot be kept where just anyone can get a hold of them. Should you need to access to this area to retrieve a book, you need to seek out the librarian; Mr Kitridge with a signed permission slip from a professor. This will allow you to obtain the book you need.
Do not enter the restricted section without permission . It is not advisable and any students found in the restricted section without permission will be punished. Mr Kitridge is happy to help but some books are just dangerous and too dark. | |

Aspen jiggled the door to the restricted section. She figured it be locked; it always had been when she was at Hogwarts. Though. Aspen had learned at Hogwarts that adults were all mostly incompetent so it didn't hurt to try and see if the Librarian had by chance been careless in re-locking the section.
..... where was that Librarian? Aspen, Auror-in-Training and Body Guard, needed to search THIS area. |

A little out of breath he came to a stop next to a young woman who was jiggling with the locks to the Restricted Section. When his pulse had gone down Leo addressed her calmly but wand still out. "Hello, who are you? And why are jiggling with the locks to the Restricted Section?"
Was this woman perhaps one of the aurors sent from the Ministry of Magic to ensure everyone safety?

Stowing his wand in his holster he gave the young woman a closer look as she revealed that she was a former student of his. Judging by who she resembled when he got some time to think Leo asked "Are you by any chance related to West Odessa? You resemble him slightly."
"I always make sure that the locks are solid, secure and in good condition. And I have a silent alarm in place that will warn me of any activity in this area." Leo explained "Do you wish to look around inside the restricted section?"

She threw him another grin, complete with a sweet head bob. Uh huh! Yes sir, she sure was related to West. "My baby brother. Though he's far from baby these days." Aspen opened her big blue eyes a little more. That's where the resemblance was, those Odessa blues.

Grinning Leo nodded. "Yes, he's a senior now. It's not long before West graduates." Moving around Aspen he pulled out the big chain of keys he had hanging around his neck to unlock the many locks to the restricted section. He just had to remember to step on the secret switch while inside the door so he didn't give the caretaker a scare. "Of course I'll accompany you inside. I have a book to put back on one of the shelves anyway so you chose a good time to come and check up on the security."
Furrowing his brows Leo opened the door and gestured for Aspen to follow him in. "I hope nobody wants to use this section of the library for hiding out. At the mention of the threat Leo’s expression turned more worried but he didn't say anything as he had just reached the right aisle.

Aspen was staying close physically, but mentally.... she was IN the Restricted Section!

Literally, no Professor would grant her access as a student. She'd even begged at one point, stalked a Professor over a summer, and ...nothing. All it took was a badge? She was listening HARD to the books, scanning the spines as quickly as she could. Aspen was often desperate for anything, but in this moment... she wanted to run her fingers down the row of books SO badly, no matter how ill advised she knew that to be.

Unlocking the chain over the shelf Leo put the book by Burrows back in its rightful place with care. Locking up the chain again with the expert use of his wand he turned his attention to Aspen. She wanted to do what???
Eyes widening a little in surprise he asked "Are you sure this is wise? The Restricted Section is not a place for lingering very long. Some books can attack you, you know?" He wasn’t very comfortable with the idea of West’s sister making regular visits to the Restricted Section even if she was a trained auror. Nothing good could come out of regular visits.
Turning to lead Aspen out of the section again Leo paused. "You want to borrow a book from here? Which one and why? I don't let anyone loan books from this section lightly." Leo didn't even let his colleagues borrow books from here without making absolutely sure that they knew what they were getting themselves into. It was no different with an auror.
