Default Seminar #1: Wizarding Photography

As you step into the room, you find the walls covered in photos of varying sizes; some taller than the average student and others no bigger than an average desk frame. The subjects of the photos vary as well, each revealing another moment caught in time. The first thing you’ll notice about the photos is that they are all moving: children twirling, bouncing cruppies, partners dancing, the whole nine yards.

In the corner of the room is a black tent, not very wide and taking up no notable amount of space, but the inside has been charmed to fit every and anyone participating in the seminar today. The inside is dimly lit and contains two long sets of tables on which are little bottles of developing solution. Watch your step and don’t break anything once you’re allowed inside.

For now, the Instructor is standing by a small table toward the front of the room with a wide grin plastered on her face, a magical camera slung around her neck, and what looks like an ordinary box with the lid closed. You’re free to ask what’s inside and of course Ms. Courwell is free to choose whether or not she’ll respond.

The room itself is littered with bean bag chairs so feel free to come in and have a seat. The seminar will be starting soon.

He waited for her to start, but of course she was starting with questions. Couldn't anyone start with what they were doing and let them do it? Why all the questions and answers and lectures. It was just so lame and boring. He knew he shouldn't have come, this was just annoying already.

Listening to the other answers he had to chuckle at a few even book boy had something good. Bacon, but now he was hungry. Thanks so unless the boy was going to fix the bacon he needed to just shut it. Putting up his own hand Bart grinned, "Ourselves, when we shake our bums dancing. Want to see how I get mine up and moving?" He'd demonstrate his awesome dance moves right here if she wanted.

There were SO many pictures. So many Bev had trouble looking at just one. The bean bag didn't make it any easier. She was comfortable and could sit and gaze at every picture and try to decipher the message they were trying to convey. If they had any.

Eyes glued on a cruppy picture, Bev jumped a little when the professor woman clapped her hands. Attention. Right. No more gazing. But....

Focus!

What else could they get up and moving? Erm. Anything that magic could. The ideas were endless. Of course, Bev didn't say that. The moving pictures should have eased her shyness -- serving as a distraction and all -- but it didn't work. Why? 'Cause she knew close to NOTHING about picture taking and it made her nervous.

Not knowing, she didn't like that.

"Good..."was all he could manage to say in answer to his friend before the seminar leader decided it was time they were to start. So Ben simply settled down into his chair and listened to what the woman had to say as well as the answers being given to her question. What could they make move? With magic? There was already several good answers and the second year tried to think of something he could supply. Mention of food finally gave him an idea and he raised his hand to answer.

"How about dishes and silverware?" Like a muggle movie he vaguely remembered.

About to reply to her friends, Lux was distracted when the seminar suddenly began. Listening to the seminal leader had to say, she raised her hand to give an answer to the question. "We can make topiaries move!" That was what happened in the first Herbology lesson; she had petted a moving giraffe topiary.

Him complimenting her camera didn't go unnoticed but it was over shadowed by his confession to having one of his own. Her eyes widened excitedly as he went rummaging. "Oh! May I?" She asked, slowly reaching for it to have a better look. "I have one of these as well, for my own personal use of course." For more professional jobs she tended to stick to the one slung around her neck.

"And I sure did!" She said beaming and handing his camera back. This one, she liked him. "What's your name?" A budding photographer it seemed.
Mo grinned broadly as the woman admired his camera. If he'd really thought about it, he would have brought all his cameras to show her, since she was doing the rather pleasing thing of caring about the stuff he cared about. A lot. "That's my walkabout camera, just for during school hours. I'm Marcus Branxton. I like your pictures. I like how you use light."

Like maybe he was going to take note of that trick and try it himself. Mo scuttled over to squeeze in next to Cat on her beanbag. Hey, girlfriend person.

"Before we begin, you've noticed the moving photos around the walls." She shoved off the desk, bouncing slightly in anticipation and snapping a few photos here and there. "What else can we get up and moving." There was no WRONG answer given everyone here was capable of at least a little magic but she was looking for something in particular, something she'd never attempted but had just as much of an appreciation for as she did her own photos.

Hands? Yes? Answers?

Lizzie's eyes moved from face to face waiting and perhaps bracing herself for any completely far-fetched answers. They had those. She remembered her school days. Snap. Sanp. Snap..
What else can they get up and make move? Like... with magic, they can get almost anything to move. Food, water, people... even air. Mo sort of liked that little Slytherin's suggestion about 'ideas', since it was at least out of the box.

There was no where else out of the box to be, was there? "I think we can make most anything move, really. Even other artwork, like photographs." Which, you know, his classmates had already said. "Professor Romanos has these cool metal sculptures that move just like the animals they represent. Which is awesome, but a little unnerving too."

Another one?? Even better! Lizzie watched the girl, not at all put off by her staring because she was busy taking in her facial structure.

Lizzie took the girl's face in her hands, turning it from angle to angle even as she sought to answers her questions. "It's a magical kind dear, they exist you just have to know where to look." She mumbled still turning her face in all directions. "Such lovely cheekbones and those eyes....this lighting helps your skin." As it did for a good few of them as she'd noticed.

"The box has things for the shoot." Looking to the door, she finally concluded no one else was coming. "Yes, yes, this face." And this girl got the first shot of the seminar. Brilliant. Now they could begin.
..... lady was touching her face. Excuse her, Alice's skin was FINE without proper lighting too, thank you. Cheekbones? Who cared about cheekbones? What was wrong with her eyes?

And then came the flash. Merlin. She hated being photographed.

"Shoot?" Pause. "Can we be photographers instead of subjects?" Because that wasn't really her thing. No thanks.

Was this woman okay in the head? Up and moving? "Er... brooms move. And bludgers. And quaffles if you throw them. I move, too." She did a wave of her arms just for the loon's benefit. What was the point of this, again?

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

Even as the students thought the answer over and began raising their hands the woman found it difficult to put the camera down. Their expressions were precious. The mixture of confusion and deep thought. How could she say no to a few shots of that?? She couldn't! Consequently she didn't and took perhaps another three shots before lowering the camera finally.

SPOILER!!: Replies

Thinking of which, they needed to go learn tricks sometime. And talk. But mainly skateboard and do fun stuff.
As expected, the response wasn't exactly what she was looking for but by no means was the boy wrong. Lizzie gave a nod of her head and a smile. "Yes, those do move, sometimes making the subject harder to capture but a little challenge never hurt anyone." Not to her knowledge and Lizzie liked thinking she knew LOTS.

"Like magical photographs, they move and can be hung up on a wall." She smiled and tilted her head to the side so the instructor could snap away.

The tall Slytherin put his hand up. "Portraits."

Sure. That was true. He was trying to participate see? And nobody needed to know that the only reason he'd come was to try to gain some understanding of something that was really important to someone else. So yeah. He fixed his gaze on the seminar lady and waited.

It was the flipping of her hair that first got Lizzie's attention back on the young Diva. The girl was born to be in front of the cameras, there was no arguing that. There was this sass about her, a fiery side that had Lizzie lifting the camera and talking a few shots even while the girl sat there giving up her answer. Just look at that smile she'd flashed at the end! Merlin! So willing!!

But the girl was correct, perfectly so and in fact the tall boy she'd watched entering earlier and another girl, the Gryffindor one, they were correct as well.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! Portraits! Much like photos they preserve a person's memory long after they'd gone away. Excellent!!" And more snapping. People who got things right excited her, especially on topics like these.

Here was something that was a little less common but by no means wrong either! "Interesting to note!" She said, giving the girl a wide smile. "Drawings can also be charmed to hop, skip, jump even dance across pages. It's not a very well pursued art, in fact some consider it amateur at best but sometimes that's what a work of art needs. Thank you." These students really knew there stuff!

"We once did a project in Transfiguration where we animated little gargoyles. It took a lot of concentration but it was pretty neat seeing what you could get them to do." Tricks and stuff. Some more exciting than others.
Oohhh and there was something she'd never gotten to do in her time here. Statue animation. "That's another interesting one to note. Statues being a form of art, enchanting them puts them roughly in the same category as wizarding photographs!" Lizzie had a friend that made a living creating statues, perhaps she would suggest this to him and see if he'd give it a try.

At the question, she raised her hand. "Many of the tapestries around the palace are also enchanted to move," she relied, thinking of the tapestry of the trolls in tu-tus. After all, an image like that stuck with you.
Was that a fact? Her best pictures were out on the Quidditch pitch?....With all that sun that didn't go well with her skin? Oh no no no. Artificial light, the kind she could control was much preferred, afterall there was no turning down the sun. It took her an additional moment to realize she was focusing more on the girl's photo potential and less on her actual answer. The woman gave herself a firm shake of the head to focus then smiled over at the girl. "Tapestry. Yes. They can become moving art as well and in fact if I remember correctly there are a few worth a show somewhere in the castle." But she couldn't say for sure where. It'd been a long time since she'd last been here.

Lizzie essentially deadpanned at the little Hufflepuff boy. Food? Really? Sometimes they just made it too easy to have these house stereotypes running around the castle. ".......Food is an interesting subject to capture I suppose." She replied, brows crinkling somewhat. Food? While they were discussing photos? Kid needed to get his priorities straight.

So what did she do now?
And this one would be offering no response at all? That was fine. Lizzie lifted her camera again and took a solitary shot of the silent girl. Silent subjects weren't bad either.

Blink.

For the first time since they started responding, she got the feeling there might have been some taking her works literally. Er...that could work too...In future, she would have to see about her wording. The girl got a nod and a smile nonetheless. "Yes, of course, brooms. I once did a shoot with nothing but brooms to work with. Lovely things, never once complaining." Some of her best subjects to take.

Further proof she needed to work on her wording in the future. Flying carpet suggestions told her he'd taken her literally as well. It was such a shame given this one wasn't even a Ravenclaw! She'd always pegged that set for the literal, not the Hufflepuffs. "Mhm, they move all over, terribly difficult to take at times given the charms placed on them. I actually heard about a case with a rogue flying carpet floating around the Ministry a year back. Now wouldn't that have made for an interesting shot." But she was digressing and needed to get back on track.

Okay. She got it. She was terrible at phrasing questions. Lizzie almost looked disheartened as another went strictly literal on her. "Yeah...yeah anything can be animated once you've got the imspiration." It was a good response though given the circumstances.

Good Merlin! Another Hufflepuff child talking about food! Goodness! Lizzie gave a hesitant nod and a small smile, not sure what else she could really say. Food could be taken and animated, chocolate frogs being a prime example but..."Yes...yes good answer." Puffers.

Oh! She was taking pictures of them! Gwen smiled a little bit more, no need to look like a grump in a picture, however, she hoped that the last few pictures didn't end up on these walls, because who knew what sort of horrible face she'd been making without knowing it?
Were they back to talking art now? No more food? Lizzie's smile widened noticeably at the next response. "Topiaries! Brilliant! Can you imagine the pictures that would come from the moving topiary?? They would be amazing!" Oh definitely, very much so. And would you look at that! SMILING fior the shots!!!! Lizzie couldn't pass this up at all!! The woman lifted the camera yet again and snapped a good few shots of the precious girl.

Movies and TV shows or anything like that was also true. So yeah.
First a skateboard and now a surfboard? All she could do was nod. Much like the first boy, he wasn't wrong either and now she was beginning to see what happened when a sentence was taking far too literally. This one got away with it...because he was a Ravenclaw and it was expected. "Surfboards, yes. Thank you."

I mean... it's a ball but it has wings, which imitate the wings on the Golden Snidget bird. I guess... those have been charmed to move around on their own?"
The boy with nice eyes was suggesting Quidditch related things. Lizzie did her best to keep the grimace off her face, settling instead with a smile. "Snitches, yes. I can't say I fancy taking shots of them, not while they're at their work but they can be charmed into motion." Could she assume he was a quidditch fanatic then? She got quite a few of those each year. Lovely people really, such dreamy smiles.

OoooOOoOO! Just when she thought no one would mention this one in all their listings the little Slytherin did! Granted she'd already gotten the answer she was looking for but this was one of the things that she had in mind as well and Lizzie gave the boy an enthusiastic nod and a grin. "Excellent!" She said, unable to prevent herself from snapping a shot of him. "It's much the same as with wizarding photos given they are wizarding photos themselves however, they are presented through a different medium for a different purpose. Thank you." His hand went up in the air, "Ideas, Miss Courwell. You and get an idea up and moving." If you have the will to and resources.
And wasn't this one an interesting one as well? Lizzie smiled over at the little Slytherin. "I don't think I saw it that way before you said it just now. Good point. I like the way you think." As abstract as it happened to be.

Lizzie watched him continue to exude that air of enthusiasm even as he waved about. She chuckled at his response. Kid was endearing if nothing else. "Yes, yes we could." As illegal as it might end up being if they were still going off the basis of using magic to do so.

"Very good." And a snapshot of him.

Another silent but pretty one. Lizzie gave her a small smile, snapping a photo of her silent subject before moving on. The girl would speak when something came to mind.

"Yes! Topiaries!" As mentioned a little earlier by one of the others. Plants were a small love of hers. Butchering them in the name of art was hardly what she'd call appreciation but that didn't make the girl any less right.

Why had she never met this boy before? He was perfection! A lovely face AND a passion for photographer that showed perhaps even in the way he walked. One to keep an eye on for sure. "Walkabouts are a brilliant idea, I have a few myself and you have a good eye for noticing my lighting. Not many people can tell the difference." It was subtle but THERE and she wished more people would open their eyes.

Lizzie watched him take a seat then give an answer similiar to the Slytherin girl's earlier. Again, him being a Ravenclaw made him an exception to the overly literal and vague responses. It was a Claw thing, that much she knew of personally...except he was being an exception even in his group of exceptions by adding specifics after.

"Yes! Sculptures! Excellent!"

What's this? She didn't want to be a part of the shoot? This was disappointing and a perfect example of a good face going to waste. It would seem Lizzie would have to look to that other Gryffindor, the really dramatic one to get the enthusiasm going for this endeavor. "I suppose, if you work that out well with your group mates." Did she mention that? That they'd be in groups?

And her answered told her the girl was yet another Quidditch fanatic. One she'd be photographing later on for becomin famous she didn't know, but one to watch out for nonetheless. "Bludgers, definitely." Those things DEFINITELY had charms that made them move.

Was that it for everyone willing to take a try at this? If so she supposed she could move on, the answer she wanted was mentioned and that was the most important...or second most important, the first being how photogenic they all were.

"Right. As we've established there are several things that can be made to move, some through spell work such as the portraits and other little oddities and some through manual force, such as skateboards and our own bodies. Whatever the case, the end result of movement can be achieved. Someone mentioned earlier doing a seminar on moving portraits? Real quickly I need someone to remind us of the spell that gets them moving and someone else to tell us how we get the photos moving."

Then they could move into the activity!! The thought nearly had her bouncing!! Were they as excited as she was? Probably not, they still didn't know exactly what was in store BUT they would be!!! she hoped.

There's some good in this world and it's worth fighting for| LOTR|Whovian|Sherlock Fan

Sander didn't know much about to make pictures to move but he did know that it had something to do with the developing solution.

Raising his hand he said, "Ma'am I believe to make the people move in the photos you need a special type of developing solution. I've heard of the Devomotion Potion which is said can be used for that purpose. When processing the film, you run them through this potion.."

curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog

Caleb wrinkled his eyebrows. You mean it DIDN'T just move on it's own? This was why he was not a photographer. it was so boring. He raised his hand.

"Is there a charm that you can use on cameras? Or a way to buy them pre-um...magicked? That would make it super easy to get them moving and is probably something the photographers who take lots of pictures would get lots of use out of," he explained. He had no idea if he was making stuff up or not, but who knew?

Marigold squinted at the question, though still wriggled in excitement. She stared at the camera as the woman kept taking pictures. NO PICTURES OVER HERE PLEASE thank you.

"Magical portraits move," she said.

Oh! Gwen was right! Sort of. And the lady was taking more pictures. Not that Gwen minded, really. It was a bit odd to snap shots of people while speaking to them, but to each their own. She would just continue to smile just in case her wild camera was pointed at Gwen.

How to make the photos move! That was what Gwen was here to find out! She looked around, waiting anxiously for the answer. Wait, anxiety was not attractive in pictures. She relaxed her face and leaned back on one hand, brushing her hair out of her face. Not that she was posing, she was just deliberately arranging herself to look like she would in a relaxed candid. That was okay, wasn't it?

Pleased that the hair flipping worked, Demelza took in those camera flashes as if they were nothing. After every flash, she quickly changed her pose. Due to the training she received at the Academy, she felt well prepared for this very moment. Facial expressions had to be big and dramatic in theatre, and that had to be captured just the same with photography. It wasn't anything confusing like Arithmancy for Merlin's sake. Why many of her peers did not understand that was something Demelza couldn't quite comprehend. In the end, though, that was just fine. More camera time for her!

But the girl remained silent when the instructor asked her next question. This being her first year at Hogwarts, Demelza had not gone to that portrait seminar someone in the room mentioned. While they were all learning how to make portraits move and mumbo-jumbo, she was mastering the arts so she could become a star and live for the applause. Although a single word was not said, she did make a fierce-looking pose for the camera. She felt like she owed the woman one that just popped out at you to make up for not having an answer. It was said that actions spoke louder than words, after all.

When could they move on to the activity? All these questions were getting in the way of her being the centre of attention. The spotlight, though in this scenario the camera lens, needed to be on her! Not on people who didn't understand or appreciate the art! Siiiiiiigh.

Oichi was surprised how fast the seminar progressed once it started. They were already on the third question of the seminar. No matter, Oichi knew this answer from a book she picked up. Oichi raised her hand and said, "I believe the spell incantation for animating pictures is alacer. ".

Group mates? Ew. Alice didn't do people.

Or most people, anyway.

"What that girl said." Alacer. Yep. "The wand movement for it is something like a triangle in the air crossed with a five-pointed star. Except it doesn't work on portraits. Can you use the spell for photos and the solution for portraits?"

And she was only here to learn the potion way, just FYI. 'Cause spells she could learn on her own.

So could they do that?

Adi knew there was a Potion that got the pictures to move not a Spell. Was it the potion that Sander had said? He wasn't sure. And as he had noting proper to say in response to the woman's question, he remained silent and listened to the others.

There was going to be an activity for this lesson, right? That's what that tent was for? When could they get started? Adi wanted to get up and do something and not just sit here feeling more sluggish as time wears on.

Kace was spacing out during her first question but he remembered what it was. What things could he name that moved. He smirked and like Bart's answer. He was a smart alek for saying that. Then he heard her move onto moving portraits? Hold the phone....when did that come up? He must have REALLY dazes. Anyways.....

He heard the other students mention potions. He nodded with them since he had no idea how portraits could move. I mean that is why he was here right? He listened and doodled in the process. He was wondering if they were getting to make photographs that would be cool.

Toby GRINNED at the fact that his suggestion was well met and at the snapshot and EVERYTHING. Very enthusiastic, this kid was. Yup. And it made him all the more likely to continue answering questions.

Um. Except this one. Tobias hadn't been around for that particular seminar, so he kept quiet.

However, this lady's bouncing had HIM mirroring the bouncing and altogether exuding energy. His beanbag made that annoying beanbag-noise that always seems to happen when someone who fidgets too much sits in one. But Tobias was too absorbed in paying his full (yes, FULL) attention to the awesome lady and the seminar to notice.

Blink. Blink.

The professor woman snapped a picture of her. Mellow. That was fine. Perfectly fine. Bev knew she was a looker what with her kaleidoscope-like eyes - even if she tried playing it down - but...it was fine. Though, the woman probably captured the girl blinking at her like an owl on alert.

However, the woman seemed nice. Bev liked smiles. She watched as the woman interacted with the other students and then moved on to another question. She was excitable, wasn't she?

A spell that gets the portraits moving?!?!

Bev hasn't ever actually thought about it. There were dozens and dozens at her grandmother's estate. Other than taunting and poking them, she didn't consider the thought of how they moved. Simple magic had been her first thought. Just like breathing.

Interesting.

Lux had no idea what exactly the process was since she was only a Second Year, and had never learned anything about wizarding photography until now. Keeping quiet, she let her fellow students give their answers, paying close attention. She had her notebook open and ready, so she could jot down notes as soon as it was all explained.

Oh, and she used his example! He gave her a small grin at that. Though it did make him wonder briefly if he'd rather be out on his board than here, something that was reiterated at the woman's next question.

A spell to photos and portraits moving? Benjy deadpanned. If he knew that, he wouldn't be here, would he? DUH. So he fidgeted around on his beanbag a bit, trying to get more comfy.

Uh.

They just moved?

Lucas made a face, thinking back to his house and all the Quidditch posters he had on his walls. He hadn't charmed them to fly around and score.. they just did it. But he did know, from his vague knowledge of the differences between the Muggle world his parents insisted on vacationing in that there was some sort of solution, or rather potion that made the pictures magical.

"Don't the camera's have to be magical before the picture is taken?" Otherwise, as far as he knew, the potion wouldn't work. The whole process had to be with magic. ...Right?

Uhm. Yeah, sure. Astrid just listened. She really just wanted to get to the point, you know? She wanted to head towards the photography or the activity part of the seminar because those parts were usually much more interesting than questions. Really. She didn't wanna damage her brain because she was thinking too much. Like, sorry but... no. So yeah.

Blablablabla.

OH ASTRID KNEW THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION! YES SHE DID. Astrid enthusiastically raised her hand up. "You can animate or make photographs move by using a Devomotion Potion or a Developing solution on it. They work on Muggle photographs, yeah?" She grinned at the lady. Hehe. So... activity time, shall we? Pretty pleaseeeee?

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

These students really meant business with this quick thing. Good, they could keep on schedule then. There was a small glance at her watch to reassure herself they weren't behind on time.

SPOILER!!: Replies

She hadn't expected the answer on the first go but this young man got her grinning. Not only did he know substances used but he knew the name as well!! "That's right, Devomotion Potion, one of the best wizarding inventions of all time if I do say so myself." Which she probably did. Not everyone was as taken in by the moving pictures. It was taking for granted most usually.

The little Slytherin that helped to make her day. Had she gotten a shot of him as yet? Just to be sure, she raised her camera and took a quick one as he expressed his thought.

"There are magical cameras out there, if that's what you're suggesting but the photos themselves aren't necessarily 'magicked' so much as they're developed in a special solution. Granted there is a spell that works as well but the solution is more common." And got the pictures looking better thank you very much.

One of the little adorable ones that has spoken earlier at some point was now quiet, the one she rathered liked snapping shots of. Lizzie couldn't help but think the shots might have been scaring her quiet and the woman slowly lowered her camera. Right. No more of that for now.

HOLY KNEAZLE!! What was this girl doing???

The camera flew up almost instantly and the shots kept flashing one behind the other. Those poses, the faces, such expression!! "You belong in front of a camera child, have you ever considered modelling?" No? What about letting her photograph her more often?? This Gryffindor had the stuff, the kinda stuff that made it.

Nevermind that she hadn't actually answered the question, this was just as good for Ms. Courwell in her line of work. Could she keep her?

It took a while for Lizzie to regain some composure but when she finally did she looked to the next student who'd be attempting an answer. "Yes, thank you. I'd like if you could elaborate on that a little." The spell she'd mentioned earlier to the little Slytherin, was he listening?

Ah and the one that didn't want to be the subject of the photos. Perfect waste of a face if you asked her. With no remorse she snapped a couple shots of the girl without giving her much in the way of reaction time.

"Thank you for elaborating on what your housemate offered." Lizzie said with an appreciative smile. "The solution and the spell would both be used for photos, portraits are a different thing entirely." And weren't the point of this seminar anyway. No need to focus on them for too long.

Nothing to be expected from the little Hufflepuffs that had only just earlier been volunteering food suggestions? Thank Merlin the enthusiastic one was still maintaining it or she would have been somewhat more disappointed. Perhaps they were just waiting on the activity to begin. There wait wouldn't last much longer, just had to get to a few other students first. In the mean time she gave them each a small smile and snapped a photo of their precious faces.

Who could resist?

Interesting.

The other silent girl with the pretty eyes wasn't saying much still. Forever silent maybe? Lizzie wasn't ready to make assumptions, instead, she would appreciate the girl's silent beauty for what it was.

And another that kept quiet. It was fine, they were coming to the end of the questioning anyway. Nothing grave about it.

Erm..."No...I can't say I've had that experience before. I prefer to be in full control of my movement while snapping shots and don't think I have the coordination necessary for such a feit." Anything that involved sports or sports like activity were a big NO for her. "If you ever do, you should try it and see if you can get it submitted to me." And with that she fished out a business card and handed to him, so he'd know where to send the photos to.

This little one wasn't providing an answer to her question but he was asking an interesting one, one that she'd gotten before from enthusiastic little budding photographers who've come in with their parents before.

"Not at all, in fact the pictures can be taken with a perfectly muggle camera and can be dipped into the Devomotion Potion then made to move around." It was quite fascinating when you thought about it.

A silent one spoke!!!

This in itself got the woman grinning and the girl's answer just made it wider. "Yes! Yes! And muggle photographs would be a yes as well! Brilliant!" And a snap of her camera at her.

By now that should have been expected.

"Okay!" Lizzie clapped her hands together again to get their attention once more. No one had said much about getting the portraits moving but it wasn't terribly crucial given they weren't the main focus of this seminar to begin with. It wasn't a big problem and she wouldn't turn it into one. Instead, with a smile on her face, she went into a bit more info giving. "Now despite the photos being able to move and their life-like appearance, it's important to remember the pictures are in no way sentient and are simply a recording, if you will, of a past event occuring in what can be classified as a loop." So they were on the same page here. She didn't want anyone trying to talk to their photos once this was all done. St. Mungos would not be getting richer on her account.

"Interestingly enough, the portraits are not sentient either even with all the conversations some of you have with them." She'd attended here long enough to know there were a few of them that did. "After being enchanted they are 'taught' to act like their subject. It's especially the case with past Headmasters who are taught to speak and behave like their subjects so even after they're gone the next will have some guidance."

But enough with all this boring stuff, they were most likely more eager to get to the activity, even she would have been more excited to get one with it.

With a new spark in her eyes, Lizzie glanced around at them. "Time to get to it. I'll need you all to get into groups as small as two and as large as you can fit inside the camera's range--but please, keep them reasonable, too many house elves spoil the pumpkin juice." Large groups could be fun but they didn't need to overdo it. "I'll need someone from each group to come up here and get the items needed from the box. Cameras...costumes...props, anything you might need to get yourself a decent shoot." Which was what they were having! WOOOO!!

"I'll also need volunteers to work with me? Those who don't end up in a group for whatever reason." Whether that be because they WANTED to work with HER instead or simply couldn't fit behind the camera. Lizzie wasn't picky, she wanted to participate too!! Then with a few waves and flicks of her wand she began conjuring up the basic necessities for a photoshoot, setting up little photoshoot stations around the large room each with it's own settings...to give them some variety. "Get to it!"

OOC: Photoshoot time guys, have your charries grouping up, getting what they need from the box and having a spree with the cameras in the box provided by Ms. Courwell. Have fun! We'll move into developing them in the tent later.

Sander breathed a sigh of relief when the instructor confirmed that his answer was correct. He listened as she replied to the answers before giving her own explanation.

....then it was practical time. Partners?? Sander looked around. Who could he ask? He smiled. The people sitting right next to him. "Hey Tessa, Alex, Adi, Lux would you like to form a group with me? I think the tent will be able to hold all of us." he told them as he gauged everyone's height and size.

So she thought his shaking his bum was a good idea. See some of these people got Bart. His mind left the seminar to think about what epic moves he was going to use when it was turn to volunteer. He didn't hear the rest of the class talking nor did he hear any other questions. Thinking about if he should dance to the fox song or just shake shake shake your bootie. Hmm he just wasn't sure.

Brown eyes looked up as he heard her say about getting groups. Looking around well he knew some but not the others and he just wasn't sure who to work with. Hmm he thought it over for a second and got up. "I'll work with someone." He figured he'd throw it out there.

He started up to the front of the room to look at the props when he heard about volunteers. "I'll do it!! I'll be your volunteer!" That sounded fun unless someone wanted to work with him. "Now how goofy are we allowed to go with this?" because he could do goofy!
